My Review

I saw this recipe all over Pinterest the week boyfriend made it (beginning of Dec. 2019) and the photo that was used for the pin had my mouth watering every single time it showed up. Italian sausage isn’t always my favorite but, I loved this meal! The sauce was way more intense than I expected; it was an awesome mix of herby and tomatoey, beautifully soaked into the noodles, to the point it was almost wet but, absolutely not soggy. Yum.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 red pepper
  • 1 yellow pepper
  • 1 orange pepper
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 c white wine
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 2 Tbsp parsley
  • 1/4 c basil, fresh
  • 8 oz egg noodles

My Review

The cucumber salad may have been the star of the show in this one. The burgers weren’t bad, just a little dry but, there really was no hint of BBQ without spreading some on top. I did like how thick the patties were and that they stuck together nicely.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 1 English cucumber
  • 4 radishes
  • 2 Tbs fresh lemon juice
  • 2 Tbs chopped fresh dill
  • 3 Tbs olive oil
  • Salt & black pepper
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 2 Tbs barbecue sauce
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • lettuce, for serving

Moo Shu Pork

My Review

Ooo, man, the mushrooms were freakin’ delicious in this. The texture was lovely against the crispy veg from the coleslaw mix and the meat was so tender, perfectly moist. The sauce wasn’t too salty or sweet, either.

And, even though it was the first time I had anything “Moo Shu,” I’ve decided it’s a flavor I enjoy. I wonder why I’ve never ordered it at a restaurant before?!

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • freshly-cracked black pepper
  • 1 pound boneless pork chops
  • 3 tablespoons peanut or vegetable oil (we used EVOO)
  • 2 large eggs, whisked
  • 1 (14-ounce) bag coleslaw
  • 8 ounces shiitake mushrooms, stemmed and thinly-sliced
  • 4 scallions, thinly sliced (green parts only)
  • for serving: flour tortillas, lettuce cups, rice or quinoa (we had jasmine rice)
  • optional toppings: extra hoisin, extra soy sauce, extra thinly-sliced green onions, toasted sesame seeds

      1. Yes, I have, but it was ages ago so my memory falls me on most references. That being said, I remember laughing hysterically at the clothing store scene with Jeremy Piven πŸ˜„.

    1. I was so impressed with those Italian noodles & the Moo Shu pork too. Yum! Sadly, turkey is so easy to make dry but, adding BBQ on top def helped. 😊

  1. ooooooohhhhhhhh I know I’m always like “but it has meat” buuuuuuuuutttt!!!! the italian drunken noodles loooooook soooooooo gooooooooddddddd!!!!!!!!! i would eat, no doubt about it. I’m going to ask if he wants to make those but I highly doubt we can find those kinds of noodles or similar pasta at the store right now. they’re out of rice, beans, pasta, and most of the canned food 😦

i’ve also been wanting to try turkey burgers in a long time, this looks good!

first time I hear of moo shu, but considering it’s pork I think Alex would like it a lot πŸ™‚

    1. The Italian drunken noodles turned out so well πŸ™‚ I think you guys would like them! Boyfriend went to the grocery store again & was able to find some rice & pasta! I hope your stores are more stocked up now, too??

Also, turkey burgers are difficult. They dry out super easily but, when done right, SO good!!

I remember hearing about Moo Shu pork in Rush Hour lol, have you ever watched it?

❀ more to come on Sunday!

  2. Oh man – drunken noodles are my favourite – and I haven’t yet found a decent recipe for the traditional kind. This adaptation looks really interesting. Is that 1/2 cup of white wine?
