Boxycharm | February 2020

Hello my fellow beauty lovers! Have you seen what is going to be featured in the Boxycharm Premium next month? ALL freakin’ Fenty products. I so wish I could have it but, I saw on Reddit that people have been on the waitlist since October. Ugh.

I’m also a little annoyed because in their “new and improved” quiz, they asked me if I wanted more skincare, makeup, or a mix of both and I chose *only* makeup. YET, this month, I received mostly ALL skincare??? Riddle me that.

February’s theme was Adorรฉ BUT, for the first time, ever, they didn’t include a paper postcard inside the box. Instead, I received an e-mail a day after receiving my box with a “Virtual Insert Card. That was totally alright with me.

what was in my box

BECCA Cosmetics
Ultimate Coverage 24-Hour Foundation in Olive

Boxycharm’s Description

“A full-coverage liquid foundation featuring 24-hour, water & transfer-resistant wear with breathable, natural finish.”

My First Impressions

I was so excited when we were given the option to choose a product this month and not only which one we wanted but, the exact shade, too. I’m not sure if this will suit me yet since I’m holding off on opening it for now but, it looks like a good match from what I can see.

I’ve never come across a bad review for anything by BECCA Cosmetics so I have high, high hopes (*for a livingggg*).

Cruelty-Free?: Yes
Retail Value: $44

Alamar Cosmetics
Complexion Brush Trio

Boxycharm’s Description

“This vegan and cruelty-free 3-piece brush set comes complete with a complexion brush, bronzer brush, and brightening brush suitable for all skin types delivering a flawless finish.”

My First Impressions

These totally remind me of a F.A.R.A.H. brush I received in my February 2019 Ipsy! They’re not totally the same but, definitely reminiscent of each other. Alamar seems to be getting more and more popular, though, so I’m happy to try these out. As long as they’re as good as F.A.R.A.H. brushes. ๐Ÿ™‚

Cruelty-Free? Yes
Retail Value: $36

Ciatรฉ London
Everyday Vacay Coconut Setting Powder

Boxycharm’s Description

“Lock in your makeup for a long-lasting wear with Ciatรฉ London’s ‘Everyday Vacay’ Coconut Setting Powder. Delicately coconut fragranced to take you back to your beach vacay everyday, this finely-milled and lightweight loose powder smooths over makeup for a crease-free, soft-focus finish with no flashback.”

My First Impressions

If I had read the description beforehand, I would not have opened this at all. I, foolishly, thought that the “coconut” in the name was an ingredient, not a scent. I couldn’t even bear it– it even lingered in my nose for quite some time after application, too. But, luckily, not forever.

It was definitely much more hydrating than the Ciatรฉ Extraordinary Translucent Powder I have but, it still didn’t do much for me. It actually seemed to melt my makeup off more than set it. My face looked extra droopy at the end of the night.

Sadly, I don’t think I’m willing to use this again.

Cruelty-Free? Yes
Retail Value: $22

First Aid Beauty
Facial Radiance Pads

Boxycharm’s Description

“A daily treatment pad that contains the right amount of lactic and glycolic acids to safely and effectively exfoliate, tone and brighten all skin types. Regular use of these pads will smooth the skin’s texture–providing the perfect canvas for flawless makeup application.”

My First Impressions

For 3 days, I replaced my trusty Thayers toner with one of these pads. I didn’t see any improvements or irritations. What I did notice was that my skin tone had lost its balance and brightness. Once I restarted using my Thayers, it noticeably (and immediately) returned.

Cruelty-Free? Yes
Retail Value: $16

Evio Beauty
Refreshing Cleansing Hemp Wipes

Boxycharm’s Description

“These biodegradable muli-tasking Evio Skin x Aurora wipes are made with hemp fibres to cleanse skin, remove waterproof makeup and keep skin hydrated, the anti-bacterial wipes are infused with cannabis sativa seed oil to deduce inflammation and avoid irritation.”

My First Impressions

There has been a blow up of beauty products with cannabis and/or hemp being released lately. I haven’t tried much besides body lotions and washes so, we’ll have to wait and see if it’s beneficial for the face or just a way to expand their sales.

I hope we don’t run out of weed to smoke with all these people using it for different reasons, lol. Just kiddin’. ๐Ÿ˜›

Cruelty-Free? Yes
Retail Value? $10

Total Box Value: $128

I did not create a look for this month’s theme because there was really no makeup included and I’m not ready to open the foundation or brush trio yet so, boo. ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿฝ

If you want to subscribe to Boxycharm, it’s only $25/month. You can use my referral link: HERE, at no extra charge you. โค

  1. I’m really sad to say that didn’t love this month’s box. I received the Alamar brush set (which I was stoked for!!!!!) and the Ciate face powder – otherwise our boxes were pretty different.

Honestly, don’t feel bad about missing out on the Fenty box…. I saw the sneak peaks of what is included in the box (and aside from the lip gloss), all of the other products included in the box are things that have not sold as well for the brand (so I suspect they’re doing this box as a way to move out those older products from their inventory).

    1. Aw, I’m gonna check out your post & see what you got in a bit. I’m excited for the Alamar brushes, too. They’re gorgeous & I have high expectations for the brand! I honestly wish I never opened the Ciate face powder…

Ahhh! That’s so good to know about the Fenty box. I have pined for it all month & your comment alone has made me get over wanting it completely. Wow. Thank you for telling me!!! โ™ก

  2. The foundation sounds great, you scored getting sent your shade too! Hope it works out for you ๐Ÿ˜Š fingers crossed you like the brushes as much as the Farah ones! Coconut is one of THE worst scents ๐Ÿคข

    1. I was so excited that they let us choose our exact shade for this foundation– they usually base it off our beauty profiles, which are so generic. I’ll let you know when I try it & the brushes, too. ๐Ÿ˜Š & oh my gosh, I’m glad you agree about the coconut scent. I just can’t stand it!

  3. Good to know about the first aid beauty radiance pads. Iโ€™ve heard a lot about them but you can never really tell whatโ€™s hype and whatโ€™s an honest review (I totally trust yours ๐Ÿ™‚

But how rude giving you all that skincare. Seriously, what?!

    1. Hi Kristen! I was just thinking about you & went to your page the other day but my ancient computer would not load it up at all. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

I had heard a lot about the FAB pads, too. Really, they did nothing for me? Maybe I needed to use them for more than 3 days though. That means so much that you trust my reviews; I am always as honest as possible! ๐Ÿ˜Š

& seriously, why did they even ask if they were gonna give me whatever they wanted anyways?!

  4. Those brushes look good, and bummer about the powder…I hate it too when they put a strong scent in my make-up products (it always makes me feel as if the product is cheaper value then it actually is)
    Great post โ™ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿ’•

  5. It’s so disappointing that they didn’t listen to your profile! It’s nice that you got to pick your exact shade of foundation, you’ll have to let me know how it is! I haven’t tried a Becca product I didn’t like yet.

It’s too bad about the Ciate setting powder! The name sounds really nice, but if the scent is too strong that’s no good. And even worse that it didn’t really do what it was supposed to..

I’m seeing cannabis products everywhere now, it seems kind of gimicky to me! None of the skincare actually has cbd, so it’s not like it has the same effects? I have no idea haha

    1. Yeah, I don’t get why they even asked & then, gave me more skincare than ever before? Lol kind of rude. But, it was awesome that they allowed us to pick our exact shade. I’ll definitely let you know what I think about the foundation when I try it. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I think I can write off Ciatรฉ London as a brand all together. I have never liked one thing I’ve tried by them & sub boxes love to shove them down our throats…

I agree about the cannabis products being a bit gimmicky. I heard hemp has its own benefits apart from CBD, too, though, so we’ll see, right? Lol. I don’t really know, either. ๐Ÿ˜›

      1. Definitely rude! ๐Ÿ˜‚

I haven’t hated everything from Ciatรฉ but I don’t really gravitate towards them ๐Ÿค” I liked their bronzer a few years ago!

I think hemp products are supposed to be extremely hydrating? I like the lotion brand for that at least!

  6. “I hope we donโ€™t run out of weed to smoke with all these people using it for different reasons, lol. Just kiddinโ€™. ๐Ÿ˜›” That’s just freakin awesome LOL!! After watching a lot of unboxings on YouTube sounds like maybe Boxy is trying something new with a sort of paperless card?? Not entirely sure but it seems like no one actually got a card in their boxes it was all electronic.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Lol!! I was kidding but, also kind of serious. Imagine we had a shortage on weed to smoke, I’d be so upset. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Ah I see, I totally didn’t mind the electronic card. Saving paper & all that. โค

  7. Aaahhh I couldnt wait to read this!!!!!! Lol
And I’m so sad you didnt get off the waitlist. I’m glad I didnt jump at the chance either. And also, I like the idea of the virtual card instead of wasting more paper lol.
Whoooaaaaa a full size foundation from Becca!! I missed out huh lol. I really hope it suits you fine and that you like it.
Omg Alamar brushes! They make really good brushes I’m sad I missed out on these too because I want everything they are releasing lol.
Too bad about the powder and the scent. I probably wouldn’t like it either.
Aw man I was expecting the FAB pads to be good since we really love their cleanser..
Lmao about the joke of weed being used for products haha. I actually welcome the idea of hemp being used for more products, skincare and clothing mainly lol. Still havent tried much with hemp in it besides lotions as well

    1. I never joined the waitlist because I didn’t really believe I’d be taken off on time for the Fenty box anyways. ๐Ÿ˜› I liked that they changed it to a virtual card, too. Totally fine with me!

I know! I was stoked about the Becca foundation. ๐Ÿ˜€ I really do hope I chose the right shade lol.

Oh yay! That’s good to know about the Alamar brushes. Hopefully I can try more from them in the future!

Ugh, that powder smells terrible… I don’t think I’ll be using it ever again, honestly. I wish I didn’t open it. ๐Ÿ˜› & I was really expecting more from the FAB pads but, I saw no differences! Maybe I need to use them more/for a longer period of time?

LOL, I don’t mind all the hemp & CBD products, either, really. I’m willing to give everything a shot! ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Well that really sucks, I still hope that you’re able to get off the waitlist sometime soon. I know that it’s been about 6 months since they started that box, and it might be time for them to expand how many boxes go out and what not, doesn’t seem like it’s very many.
Well skincare tends to be that way, need to use it more than a week for you to see results, but if you’re not feeling them thi early, who knows, maybe you’re right ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. I have never actually gotten a subscription box before! I don’t feel that I would get maximum use out of it which is why I don’t subscribe – I already struggle using most of my things sadly! That’s so good that they let you choose your shade for the Becca foundation! I would say it looks to be a good match for you. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Liked by 1 person

    1. It’s definitely hard using up every single product that I get in these boxes but, it’s easier (& way cheaper) than picking out my own products to try. The choices out there are too plenty for me lol.

I was so excited that they let me choose my own shade for the foundation. I do hope it’ll be the perfect match! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll definitely update you on my thoughts when I try it!
