Hi Loves!! I took a mini, unexpected hiatus this past weekend and I am so sorry if you missed me! I am back and ready to resume my regularly scheduled blogging. 🙂
On Saturday, after I posted my last Journal Entry, I was like… “fuck going to work.” I played hooky (once again) and hung out with boyfriend instead. We finished up our cocktails at home and then, headed to Buffalo Wild Wings!!
I got their Spicy Margarita which had a tasty, tongue-biting rim. I loved licking it up. 😀 The drink itself was very weak but, oh so, sweet and easy to drink. It was gone in like, a minute but, I didn’t feel any different.
Boyfriend got himself a beer of some sort, probably a Blue Moon or Shock Top.
We shared an order of their monstrous nachos and a bunch of their wings. We actually got 5 more pieces of the Blazin’ flavor to bring home after I took this photo– they are our faves. ❤
We went home right after and started playing Tekken 7 together. We got pretty far and were doing quite good, especially for being as intoxicated as we were but then, we realized that we hadn’t saved the game correctly the next day…
On Sunday, we woke up at nearly 4 PM. We took a shower together, got out, turned on Love Island and turned off my brain for awhile! Boyfriend made us these awesome salmon cakes with a salad for dinner and we ate them in front of the show.
When we finished eating we gamed together again. We started with Super Lucky’s Tale and then, moved onto Tekken. We got ourselves back to where we left off and even further more. We still haven’t beat the Main Story Mode yet though!
I had a huge craving for some ice cream while we were playing so, we paused and made a stop at Sonic. 😀
We both got Blasts, mine with Oreo and Butterfinger, his with Reese and Oreo. ❤
We also made the Original Spicy Korean Noodle cups as a snack and truly thought they were nothing to brag about??
The 2x was WAY hotter… and hey, you can see us playing Tekken in the background (above). 😉
On Monday, I woke up extra early because… the ice cream… lol. It was around 11 AM which is just outrageous for me, okay?
I watched the film based on and titled Tekken on my phone, laying in bed, clutching my tummy… I finally felt better and decided to take a shower around 1 PM. Boyfriend still hadn’t woken up so, I played a level of Super Lucky’s Tale that we were stuck on until I beat it. Then, I played my Disneyland Adventure game!
When he awakened, it was around 2ish. We smoked a blunt and he made us breaded pork chops that turned out better than expected with Brussels and red onions on the side.
We downloaded a Resident Evil game to play together and got through all of it in one night– it was super fun but, sooo short. I accidentally fell asleep for 3 hours during one of boyfriend’s turns and he turned it off the whole time, too.
When I woke up from my nap, we went back to it and… I ended up nodding off AGAIN. This time, boyfriend just finished the last 2 or 3 missions because we could tell it was nearing the end of the game anyways.
He woke me up to see the credits because they are so satisfying to look at! And then, we went to bed.
Yesterday, I woke up around 1 PM and read blogs for less than an hour. It was a MUSICAL DAY so I couldn’t laze around as much as usual!
Boyfriend made a different, delicious balsamic vinaigrette for a side salad and heated up our leftover salmon cakes to eat while we watched Love Island. When our plates were clean, we headed to Starbucks for some caffeine!
I wanted something sweet for a change and when I spotted the new Almondmilk Honey Flat White with Blonde Espresso… I knew I had to give it a go. I added 2 extra espresso shots since the Grande size already came with 2; that made it 4. So. Perfect.
It was sweet but, just the right amount that I’m looking for after a savory dinner. I highly recommend!! And, the Blonde Espresso is VERY smooth and lovely– can’t believe I hadn’t tried it before. I may even get it for my quad shots tomorrow!
With still a few hours left until I had to leave for the musical, we returned home and I caught up with as many WordPress comments as I could. ❤ I wanted to do a yellow makeup look to match Spongebob’s skin color (lol, is that what I should call it?) so, after awhile, I had to start working on my face!
I didn’t have a lot of time to snap as many selfies as I would have liked (and I also didn’t even do anything to my lips!) but, I got this one (above) and another one in the bathroom when I got to The Smith Center.
I wanted to be there as early as possible because I needed to renew my subscription and was worried that other people may have had the same idea. I didn’t want to have to wait in line.
Boyfriend ended up dropping me off a bit TOO early because me, and a few others (that had gotten there even before me) were kept waiting outside for about 5 minutes. It just happened to be FREEZING last night, too, and every single person out there was annoyingly complaining… *eye roll*
When they unlocked the doors for us, we stood in the lobby a second more before they let us through the quick security check. I was SO close to being the first at the renewing post but, I let one couple get ahead of me.
But oh well, it was easy peasy and I was able to get my seat reserved for 9 more upcoming shows in no time! EEEEEE!!!! I am beyond excited!!!
I took my two bathroom breaks before finding my spot to sit down.
There weren’t as many kiddos as I expected there to be for THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL but, there were definitely a lot of teenagers!
Kind of cool that they are able to see Broadway shows as a little group outing over here in Vegas, isn’t it? Me and my pals walked around the malls, went to the movies, and sat around lakes/parks all day in Minnesota lol.
But, back to the musical…
Walking in, there was a warning sign about bright strobe lights and loud noises so I had a feeling this was about to be FANTASTIC! I also thought I had read somewhere that there was going to be some acrobatics included? I didn’t see any such thing in the show I watched but, maybe I’m mistaken or the scenes had been removed for the touring cast?
Before anything even started, there was a small band playing island-style music on the stage. I could tell right away that this was going to be more of a digital, electronic set-up and it totally was. Most everything was projected on a screen and honestly, other than that and the HUGE lights in the front– everything else was lackluster and sort of just… sad. The props and costumes needed major work!
Couldn’t there, at the very least, have been some long eyes attached to a headband for Mr. Krabs’ head or something?
Luckily, all of this could be ignored because the entire show was a BLAST to sit through!!
The Musical Numbers
There was a lot of music, dancing, and singing compared to dialogue but, every song had me boppin’ my head and swinging my feet. The plot seemed to be a couple popular episodes and signature antics mixed together with the “BFF song,” “Best Day Ever,” and the theme song (in a different, more rock version) included along with TONS of made-for-the-musical hits I LOVED.
Plankton (played by Tristan McIntrye) had the best number, by far. “When the Going Gets Tough” was so fun. The beat, lyrics, choreography, and the full on green ambiance had my complete attention. It’s no wonder since I’m seeing in my playbill RIGHT now that it was written by T.I. (and two others). I had no idea!
A few other familiar names that wrote some of the songs: David Bowie, Plain White T’s, Panic! At The Disco, Sara Bareilles, Lady Antebellum, and John Legend. Who knew?!? No wonder they were all so extremely catchy and engaging!
If I did have to choose only one more stand out number, though, it would be “(I Guess I) Miss You,” sung by Patrick and Spongebob. I am just a huge sucker for slow duets and of course, it was written by the slow jam master himself, John Legend.
Honorable mentions: “Just A Simple Sponge,” (Act I) a solo by the main man himself and “I’m Not A Loser” by our guy Squidward (Cody Cooley).
Lorenzo Pugliese played Spongebob spectacularly, his arms and body movements were so spot-on and he sounded like him without going over the top with it. His singing was still beautifully done in his own voice yet, a tiny bit altered and sprinkled with snippets of silly Spongebob-high-voiced quotes.
Beau Bradshaw WAS Patrick, he embodied everything about him. When he stood there all dumbfounded and confused, I really thought he was THAT stupid. His singing voice was deep and soulful, too… I loved it. ❤
Another one of my favorite voices was Méami Maszewski’s, who played Pearl. I wish she had more solos and scenes. She not only had the voice of an angel but, her acting was believable, too. Every time she did that loud Pearl cry, I cracked up!
The ending had me in tears because it was sweet, cute, and happy but, more so because I grew up on this TV show and it was a dream to see the cartoon characters come to life! I heard people clapping and cheering with all of their might at the end… and, I was PROUDLY one of them. The cast absolutely deserved it, every single one of them. They did such an outstanding job in their roles; I can no longer imagine anyone else as the human versions of our most well-known sea creatures!
When boyfriend picked me up around 10 PM, we just went straight home and smoked a blunt then, had some leftover porkchops to eat for “second dinner.”
For a little “second dessert,” I made this fruit plate… 😀
It had one banana, Sprouts Unsalted & Unsweetened Natural Crunchy Peanut Butter, Forager Blueberry Cashewgurt, Best Mom’s Cereal Oats & Honey Blend, aaaaand a drizzle of Local Hive Honey Raw & Unfiltered. It was yum yum yummy, even if it doesn’t look that way, hehe.
I spent the rest of my night watching Love Island!
Today, we woke up around 1 PM, I took a shower and then we chilled on the couch for a bit while I played Disneyland Adventures. 😀 It wasn’t long before we had to get up and get groceries.
I was too lazy to look for recipes and/or write a list so we just quickly went to Albertsons to pick up a rotisserie chicken for today, salads and sandwiches for tomorrow, and ingredients for a kielbasa sheet pan for Friday.
We also stopped at the Laos Market to get a spicy Papaya Salad to eat with our chicken, rice, and lettuce.
When we finished eating, I played more of my game and could feel myself getting a little tired. I wanted another Almondmilk Honey thing from Starbucks so, we went to the drive-thru!
Before the musical (on Tuesday), boyfriend had a hot Mocha latte and didn’t like it that much so, he went with an Iced Caramel Macchiato tonight. We both added two extra espresso shots again.
The caffeine did its job, I played MORE of my Disney game and then, finally peeled myself away because I wanted to write this.
I’m gonna have a snack now… and then, hopefully have enough time to paint my nails and let them dry properly.
Have a lovely rest of your week! ❤ ❤
