Hello fellow beauty lovers!! ❤ By now, we have all heard of this “10 Step Korean Skincare Routine,” right?
Well, if you haven’t, here’s the link to the one I followed.
While I do go by the steps in the exact order they’re listed, the products I use are different than the ones featured in the article. I did have this post planned for a later date because I wanted to have something for all 10 steps but, a few of you expressed interest in what I do/use in my *current* routine and even without the two missing steps, I’ve already been more than happy with my results.
*Note: None of these products are my “holy grails” and I do like to switch things up quite a bit but, for the past couple of months, these are the only ones I’ve used in my routine. They are what I owe my new, bright and bouncy face to. 🙂 ALSO, keep in mind that we all have different skin types! Mine is dry and sort of sensitive.
Step 1. Oil-Based Cleanse
- Glossier – Milky Oil Waterproof Makeup Remover
Whether or not I have makeup on, I wet a cotton ball with Glossier’s Milky Oil Waterproof Makeup Remover and wipe my whole face (MINUS MY EYELIDS) with it. My skin feels silky smooth and definitely a bit greasy afterwards but, not to worry. The next step gets rid of that!
*Even though “makeup remover” is in the name, I do not recommend it for removing eye makeup. It made my lids so dry and itchy!
Step 2. Water-Based Cleanse
- Glamglow – Gentlebubble Cleanser
I wash away Step 1 with water– sometimes, I hop into the shower for this step (and the next). Once my skin no longer feels slippery, I lather up a nickel-sized dollop of Glamglow’s Gentlebubble Cleanser between my fingers, rub it in circular motions all over my face, including my eye area and lids, then, clear it away with water.
Step 3. Exfoliate (ONCE A WEEK)
- Nip+Fab – Gycolic Scrub Fix
Still in the shower, I gently exfoliate with a very tiny amount (about a pen tip-sized dollop) of Nip+Fab’s Gycolic Scrub Fix. I only do this once a week (usually Sundays) and I can always see the difference in my skin’s brightness immediately. My pores seem to open up a bit, too.
Step 4. Toner
- Thayers – Witch Hazel Facial Toner in Rose Petal
When I hop out of the shower, even before putting clothes on, I soak a cotton ball with Thayers’ Witch Hazel Facial Toner in Rose Petal. I refresh my entire face but, again, I avoid my eyelids with this one.
Step 5. Essence
*I would love to find one that works for me but, I don’t know of any at the moment.
Step 6. Serum, Oils, & Treatments
- Biorace – L’eau Hydrating Treatment Serum
After my toner sinks in, I use about 3/4 of a pump of Biorace’s L’eau Hydrating Treatment Serum. I lightly spread it everywhere and then gently pat it in. It’s a bit sticky at first but, I can obviously tell how much it does work and it keeps every other step locked in at the same time. The scent is salon fresh. I love it.
- Go-To – Face Hero
On the days where I don’t exfoliate or use a sheet mask, I will drip a few dots (on my forehead and two cheeks) of Go-To’s Face Hero and tap it in lightly with my fingertips, right after my serum and before my moisturizer.
When Step 1 dried my lids out, this oil was what saved them. You can seriously put this ANYWHERE! It’s safe and works wonders on dry patches/eczema. It *does* feel a bit heavy, though, if you hate that feeling– stay away.
Step 7. Sheet Mask (ONCE A WEEK)
- Hydrating, brightening, tightening, age-defying, and/or cleansing
For this step, I will pretty much use any sheet mask with one or more, of the above bullet-pointed words, on the packaging. Some have really irritated my skin and others I wish I could use every single day (I’ll have to do a whole separate post on my favorite ones). It is very important to let every bit of the juice sink in, DO NOT WASH IT AWAY WITH WATER, no matter how tempting. You can lightly tap with your fingertips to speed up the process but, that’s it!!
Step 8. Eye Cream
*See Step 5.
Step 9. Moisturizer
- Sunday Riley – C.E.O. Vitamin C Rich Hydration Cream
I am SO close to finishing this jar and I cannot wait to. It keeps my skin plump and moisturized for the entire day but, I just hate how thick the cream is. It also leaves a greasy feel and takes forever to sink in, especially if applied without using a toner beforehand.
Step 10. Sunscreen (DAYTIME ONLY)
- IPKN – Big Apple Sun Cream SPF 50
Truly smells quite nice (like candy apples), unlike other sun care, and does not break me out. I apply this over my moisturizer if I ever go outside when the sun is still up (which is rarely). It makes my hands taste really chemically and gross, though, so I have to remember to wash them right away after every use!
*The sheet masks pictured, Glamglow, and IPKN are NOT cruelty-free but, all other brands and products are.
What do you use in your skincare routine? Do you have a different one for night and day? Do you ever continue using products you don’t really love? If you have any other questions about my routine– feel free to ask me! I know I probably left out a lot of important details. 😛
