My 10 Step Korean Skincare Routine

Hello fellow beauty lovers!! ❀ By now, we have all heard of this “10 Step Korean Skincare Routine,” right?

Well, if you haven’t, here’s the link to the one I followed.

While I do go by the steps in the exact order they’re listed, the products I use are different than the ones featured in the article. I did have this post planned for a later date because I wanted to have something for all 10 steps but, a few of you expressed interest in what I do/use in my *current* routine and even without the two missing steps, I’ve already been more than happy with my results.

*Note: None of these products are my “holy grails” and I do like to switch things up quite a bit but, for the past couple of months, these are the only ones I’ve used in my routine. They are what I owe my new, bright and bouncy face to. πŸ™‚ ALSO, keep in mind that we all have different skin types! Mine is dry and sort of sensitive.

Step 1. Oil-Based Cleanse

  • Glossier – Milky Oil Waterproof Makeup Remover

Whether or not I have makeup on, I wet a cotton ball with Glossier’s Milky Oil Waterproof Makeup Remover and wipe my whole face (MINUS MY EYELIDS) with it. My skin feels silky smooth and definitely a bit greasy afterwards but, not to worry. The next step gets rid of that!

*Even though “makeup remover” is in the name, I do not recommend it for removing eye makeup. It made my lids so dry and itchy!

Step 2. Water-Based Cleanse

  • Glamglow – Gentlebubble Cleanser

I wash away Step 1 with water– sometimes, I hop into the shower for this step (and the next). Once my skin no longer feels slippery, I lather up a nickel-sized dollop of Glamglow’s Gentlebubble Cleanser between my fingers, rub it in circular motions all over my face, including my eye area and lids, then, clear it away with water.

Step 3. Exfoliate (ONCE A WEEK)

  • Nip+Fab – Gycolic Scrub Fix

Still in the shower, I gently exfoliate with a very tiny amount (about a pen tip-sized dollop) of Nip+Fab’s Gycolic Scrub Fix. I only do this once a week (usually Sundays) and I can always see the difference in my skin’s brightness immediately. My pores seem to open up a bit, too.

Step 4. Toner

  • Thayers – Witch Hazel Facial Toner in Rose Petal

When I hop out of the shower, even before putting clothes on, I soak a cotton ball with Thayers’ Witch Hazel Facial Toner in Rose Petal. I refresh my entire face but, again, I avoid my eyelids with this one.

Step 5. Essence

*I would love to find one that works for me but, I don’t know of any at the moment.

Step 6. Serum, Oils, & Treatments

  • Biorace – L’eau Hydrating Treatment Serum

After my toner sinks in, I use about 3/4 of a pump of Biorace’s L’eau Hydrating Treatment Serum. I lightly spread it everywhere and then gently pat it in. It’s a bit sticky at first but, I can obviously tell how much it does work and it keeps every other step locked in at the same time. The scent is salon fresh. I love it.

  • Go-To – Face Hero

On the days where I don’t exfoliate or use a sheet mask, I will drip a few dots (on my forehead and two cheeks) of Go-To’s Face Hero and tap it in lightly with my fingertips, right after my serum and before my moisturizer.

When Step 1 dried my lids out, this oil was what saved them. You can seriously put this ANYWHERE! It’s safe and works wonders on dry patches/eczema. It *does* feel a bit heavy, though, if you hate that feeling– stay away.

Step 7. Sheet Mask (ONCE A WEEK)

  • Hydrating, brightening, tightening, age-defying, and/or cleansing

For this step, I will pretty much use any sheet mask with one or more, of the above bullet-pointed words, on the packaging. Some have really irritated my skin and others I wish I could use every single day (I’ll have to do a whole separate post on my favorite ones). It is very important to let every bit of the juice sink in, DO NOT WASH IT AWAY WITH WATER, no matter how tempting. You can lightly tap with your fingertips to speed up the process but, that’s it!!

Step 8. Eye Cream

*See Step 5.

Step 9. Moisturizer

  • Sunday Riley – C.E.O. Vitamin C Rich Hydration Cream

I am SO close to finishing this jar and I cannot wait to. It keeps my skin plump and moisturized for the entire day but, I just hate how thick the cream is. It also leaves a greasy feel and takes forever to sink in, especially if applied without using a toner beforehand.

Step 10. Sunscreen (DAYTIME ONLY)

  • IPKN – Big Apple Sun Cream SPF 50

Truly smells quite nice (like candy apples), unlike other sun care, and does not break me out. I apply this over my moisturizer if I ever go outside when the sun is still up (which is rarely). It makes my hands taste really chemically and gross, though, so I have to remember to wash them right away after every use!

*The sheet masks pictured, Glamglow, and IPKN are NOT cruelty-free but, all other brands and products are.

What do you use in your skincare routine? Do you have a different one for night and day? Do you ever continue using products you don’t really love? If you have any other questions about my routine– feel free to ask me! I know I probably left out a lot of important details. πŸ˜›

  1. That’s a great routine!! Right now I’ve had to limit my skincare because I’ve had some serious breakouts and I had broke out with a rash around the skin of one eye. The itching has finally stopped with the medicine prescribed at the Urgent Care place I went to but I had to make an appointment with my normal doctor cuz the bumps have not disappeared so I don’t think the Nurse Practitioner diagnosed quite correctly. So right now I only use a face wash by Pacifica. They are vegan and cruelty free and its very gentle.

    1. Thank you! It took awhile to find all the products that wouldn’t break me out or cause some sort of irritation. My eyelid is super dry right now, too, & it gets SO itchy. I hope your bumps disappear soon!

I’ve heard a lot about Pacifica, I’ve never tried their skincare though. Sounds lovely!

    1. The milky oil reeeeally dried my lids out so I’m hoping to find something else when I run out. It really makes my skin super silky smooth though. The Nip+Fab exfoliator works wonders! I’ve got an unopened Murad product to try later, too! I’ve heard great things about the brand so I can’t wait. πŸ™‚

I believe the Koreans are really onto something with this routine!

    1. Those are three very important steps so it’s good you do them. πŸ™‚ I used to make the mistake of using toners after my moisturizer & it dried me out, too. Have you tried toning and then applying your facial oil & moisturizer?

  2. Yasss!! I’ve been literally thinking about making a post like this too 🀣🀣

I no longer have an oil based cleanser but I need to find one. I’ll look into this Glossier one.

Yay for Glamglow Gentlebubble. It’s great for winter.

I still have the smallest amount of the NIP+FAB glycolic scrub and it’s by far, one of the most effective exfoliators I’ve ever used.

    Love Thayers!! πŸ™ŒπŸΌπŸ™ŒπŸΌπŸ™ŒπŸΌ

I ran out of my facial oil that I was using so I need to find another πŸ˜–

I have a ton of masks I have yet to use. I haven’t gotten a schedule down for myself yet so I haven’t been able to just sit back and relax while I mask lol.

I almost forgot that I have the Sunday riley water cream or something like that. It would be perfect for winter I think. I’ve been using the it cosmetics one that I got in one of my luxe boxes because its thick enough that it delivers much needed hydration to my skin this cold cold winter lol

It’s odd that the sunscreen smells nice but makes your hands smell like chemicals lol. Both of the spf moisturizers I have smell like sunscreen but it’s not too bothersome unless I apply an insane amount which I dont need. Lol.

Thanks for sharing your skincare routine with us!!

    1. Oh my gosh, we should have did a collab so I could link to yours & everyone could see different products for each step. I would LOVE to see a post like this from you, super curious to see what you’re using. πŸ˜€

The Glossier one really does an amazing job cleaning my face & moisturizing it at the same time but, I have to mention how itchy it made my eyelids! I would love to find one that *can remove my eye makeup as well.

Yesss, I’ve been loving the Glamglow Gentlebubble. ❀ & I agree about the Nip+Fab, it seriously works wonders!

I can never thank you enough for sending me the mini of Thayers. It has changed my face so much! ❀ & this Go-To facial oil is SO nice if you're looking for one!

I have a lot of masks yet to use, too, even after giving a ton away lol. They are always so cute & tempting, I can't get enough! Some of the ones I've been using have made me sit for like 40 minutes, seriously takes forever lol. But hey, do you know if sheet masks are the same as like clay masks & stuff? Because I have a lot of those, too.

You're right, I hate how thick the Sunday Riley cream is but it's probably exactly what I need for the winter. Would love to hear how the water one works for ya!

& yeah, there is not chemical scent to the sunscreen but when I accidentally licked my hands afterwards once, I almost died.

❀ Thanks for taking interest in my skincare routine!!

      1. Awh I wasn’t thinking and didnt know you were going to make a post lol. Then again, we had been talking about it for a while lmao.

I personally liked the cleansing oil I was using from Simple, but they are not a CF brand so I didn’t repurchase πŸ˜– it melted a full face of make up so well.

You are so welcome!! I’m glad you liked the Thayer’s toner because you can buy it yourself at target and to be honest, I think the price is perfect! It lasts me almost a year even though I use it twice a day, morning and night.

No, sheet masks are not the same as clay masks. Clay masks are more like wash off treatments, they supposedly are for really cleaning deep down into the pores, similar to charcoal ones. However, I advise you that you only use those once or twice a week max, because clay masks can really dry out your skin. They’re great for getting those impurities out, but don’t use them often.

        Liked by 1 person

        1. Lol that’s okay, would’ve been fun though. πŸ˜‰ & wow, I actually saw the brand Simple & their packaging totally makes them look CF. Didn’t know they weren’t.

Oh my gosh, I must be using a lot of the Thayers because I have like 3/4 left only!!

I really never use any of the masks that you have to spread (mud, clay, gel etc.), sheets are more my thing, for sure. I do have a ton of the spreadable kind though & I don’t know when to use them. My skin does not need any more drying out but I do need a deep clean so I’ll try one out soon. Thanks for the tips! ❀

          Liked by 1 person

          1. Yeah I know I was fooled by their packaging too. Like the sound of their products makes you think they’re CF. Such a genius marketing scheme lol. I’ll have to look and see if their status has changed but highly doubt it..
Oh I might have sent you a smaller bottle of the toner did i not?? The full size is 12 fl oz, I just checked mine.
Well at least you know that you like sheet masks more! πŸ€—

            Liked by 1 person

            1. Lol seriously & that one brand Fresh, I thought they were CF, too!!

Oh yeah you sent me the mini but, I accidentally left that at my dad’s house because I brought it with me to Minnesota. 😦 BUT DON’T WORRY, I made sure my brother used it since he has really bad skin!! I have the 12 fl oz one too & it’s nearly all gone. I think I am just not careful when I wet my cottonball… like I just spray it all over the place… oops :/

              1. Gosh I know!! And Fresh has good products too! πŸ˜–πŸ˜– even though they’re a bit pricey, I really liked their sugar lip balm and their toner.

Oooh lol well I’m glad you were able to use it as a travel sample! And I love that your brother used it too lol
One way mine has lasted me for so long is by putting the toner in a spray bottle lol. So I use it like a face mist. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

                Liked by 1 person

                1. I can’t remember what I tried from Fresh but I remember I had a sample from one box & looked up to see if it was CF & was stunned when it wasn’t!

Lol I kept texting him to make sure he used it too because I was sad I had left it there! & I remember you told me about putting it in a spray bottle. I should probably try that for my next bottle. I am reaaaally low now.

                  Liked by 1 person

  3. I’m so impressed by your routine!! Mine is super similar – I don’t use an essence either! My favorite, holy grail eye cream is my It Cosmerics Bye Bye Under Eye …. literally looks like I got an eye lift after I use it lmao! πŸ˜‚.

Thick moisturizers are the absolute worst – I def prefer a gel-moisturizer because they feel the best on my oily skin! I’m trying a few different ones right now so I don’t have a fave to recommend, but overall I love a gel formula!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Do you have a post on your skincare routine/products?! I’d love to check it out. πŸ™‚

Ahh, the Bye Bye Under Eye sounds amazing. I may have to just go out & get it! I’d like to see a little eye lift happening to me lol. Thanks for your rec. πŸ™‚

Most gel moisturizers I’ve tried have actually broke me out & were extra sticky but, I’m willing to try more! Definitely let me know which ends up being your fave out of the ones you’re trying, please! πŸ™‚

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Ah I haven’t done an updated skincare routine post in like 2 years, so I should def do that soon!

And hmm I can see how some gel formulas might be sticky. Some brands create gel-cream formula that are more of a hybrid between a pure gel and pure cream. Have you ever tried anything from Korres? So far I’ve enjoyed both of the moisturizers I’ve used from them – one is a gel-cream (day) and one is a thicker cream (night).

        Liked by 1 person

        1. Ahh yesss please! πŸ™‚ ❀

I have not tried anything by Korres yet. I have one more unopened moisturizer to try but I don't know if it'll work out for me. If it doesn't, I'll looking into that brand. πŸ™‚ Thank you for your rec, LP!!!

  4. This still is an impressive skincare routine even if you have 2 missing steps!
Like you, I will use a makeup remover as the first step (right now I’m using a Burt’s Bees one I got in the US, but it’s almost out so I’ll switch back to one from Matas). After that I use a cleanser & I just started using the Murad clarifying cleanser (FYI I have oily acne-prone which this one is suited for). Then I follow up with a moisturizer. I’ve been using one from The Body Shop that my mum gave me. I do use the Alba Botanica Acnedote scrub about twice a week. It says it’s gentle enough to use daily, but I don’t want to push it. I’ll also use either a sheet mask or mud mask once a week.
I really do need to get a new toner. I used the Lush tea tree toner & I loved it! I also don’t use an essence, serum or eye cream.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I would really like to include both an eye cream & an essence eventually!

You use so many good brands. I’ve not tried any of Burt’s Bees skincare yet but, I do have an unopened something by Murad that I’m saving for later. I keep hearing how good they are! I need to try more from The Body Shop & I’ve seen Alba Botanica at the store! That’s awesome their scrub is gentle enough for everyday use, I probably wouldn’t want to push it, either, though.

I was wondering if mud masks & such could be used in replacement of the sheets? Are they all doing the same things?

Toner is so important! I never noticed until I tried Thayers so I do recommend this one if you can find it. πŸ™‚

      1. I went through my extra skincare products & I found an eye cream from balance me that I should start using haha
The makeup remover is the only thing I’ve used from Burt’s Bees skincare so idk how their other products are.
I know I used a different cleanser from Murad before, but I didn’t really care for it. So we’ll see how my skin likes this one.
Well sheet masks mainly moisturize the skin while mud masks do a lot more like cleansing & exfoliating but it depends on the ingredients as well. They do have ones suited for dry skin. I was looking at The Body Shop & they have a British rose mask that’s for moisturizing the skin & an Ethiopian honey one that nourishes the skin. So you could use a mask instead since they’ll have extra benefits along w/ moisturizing the skin.
Also The Body Shop has a tea tree toner & I’m planning on getting it soon so I can start using one!

        Liked by 1 person

        1. I looked through mine hoping to find an eye cream, too, but no such luck. 😦 Please let us know how the Balance Me one is, I haven’t heard of that brand!

Aw I see, hope this Murad one works better for you! & okay, I’m starting to understand the difference between all the masks now, I just need to figure out when I can fit them all in haha. Thank you for all the info!! ❀

  5. Awesome post! I really need to exfoliate more these days because my skin is getting some lumps & bumps. Rossy was also saying in a post how much she loves the Thayers Facial Toner – I’m really tempted to pick this up in CVS the next time I go in!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Thank you, Erica! Exfoliating is one of my favorite steps. I wish it were okay to do more than once a week. πŸ˜› & Rossy is actually the one who sent me my first mini size of Thayers! ❀ I'd love to know your thoughts on it when/if you try it!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. I go through periods where I exfoliate too much, and then periods where I never do it. I’m so odd about it for some reason! I’ll definitely let you know my thoughts on the Thayers if I try, and I’ll probably write a post! πŸ˜‰

  6. I love reading about people’s Korean 10 step!! I’ve been trying to get my own routine down, but it’s sooo many steps haha. Might look into some of the products you use!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. It really is a lot of steps but, you don’t have to do every single one every day & you start to get used to it. πŸ™‚ I would so love to see your routine once you get it down! Glad some of these products stood out to you! ❀

      Liked by 1 person

  7. What an amazing skin care routine! I am so curious about that face oil, but I will have to wait till I open and use my Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Serum. I don’t mind a heavier oil if it does a good job moisturizing.
I’ve also heard great things about Sunday Riley products, but I don’t know if I would enjoy the cream if it didn’t sink in at some point.
Thank you for sharing Hunida! There are definitely some products on here that I might have to look into!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Exactly! This oil is quite heavy but nothing gives me hydration quite like it so I can deal. You can use both a serum & oil in your routine but, you’re also using The Ordinary oil, right?? Would love to hear how you like the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery!

I don’t really recommend Sunday Riley if I’m being honest. They were just lucky to have currently been in my routine at the time of this post, thanks to Ipsy. πŸ˜›

❀ Hope these products work out for you as well as they did for me!! Always happy to share!!

      Liked by 1 person

  8. Thanks for sharing! I have been been meaning to try Sunday Riley’s C.E.O so I’m happy to hear your review on it! Once I found what worked for my skin I stopped changing things up! Skincare takes time to perfect for sure!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Thanks for reading! πŸ™‚ & yeah, I wouldn’t recommend the Sunday Riley moisturizer if you’re trying it at full price. Skincare definitely takes time to perfect & there is SO much to choose from. 😭
