My 2020 Blog Schedule, Changes, & Goals

For nearly my entire first year of blogging here, I wrote a VERY specific schedule for each month. On the 1st, I would always publish a list of all my upcoming posts for the next 30-31 days. Those of you who were here then, and are still here now– do you remember that? If so, thank you, I love you so much. ❀

While I don’t think I can go back to that level of organization– I’ve come up with just a little structure. I know a lot of people say “write whenever you feel like it” but, I realized, I’m more of a “write everyday to keep your juices flowing” person.

Posting randomly for most of 2019, I almost lost my spark and I don’t want that to happen again.

blog schedule

SUNDAY: Recipe Reviews

I’ll be sharing 3 dairy-free recipes (found online), reviewing, and rating them. Boyfriend does all the cooking so, I cannot/do not speak for how well the instructions are written– only the outcome of each meal. Can you believe I have almost done 100 posts in this series now?!

MONDAY: Entertainment or NO POST

Reviews and lists about books, films, and shows

Unboxings, Make Up Looks, Empties & Discards, all things beauty

WEDNESDAY: Journal Entry

THURSDAY: Lifestyle/Blog-Related or NO POST

Awards/Tags, various lists about my lifestyle and/or how I blog, basically, I’ll be writing about myself in one way or another

FRIDAY: Five Friday Faves

Five things that have caught my interest each week!

SATURDAY: Journal Entry

*On the days marked with ‘NO POST‘ I will only be posting if I have something to discuss in that category.

blog changes

I’m also going to be making a few minor, maybe even unnoticeable, changes but, I wanted to mention them anyways.

  • I will be adding .75 and .25 in my rating system. Previously, I only allowed myself .5 or whole numbers.
  • Journal Entries two times a week (see above).
  • My Monthly Currentlys series has been cut.
  • I will no longer make Featured Images with stock photos.
  • I will be cancelling my Personal Plan in Feb. because I made a bunch of space in my media storage by resizing all those 3000×4000 photos and learned not to upload the same photo 100 times. I only upgraded, in the first place, because I exceeded the free limit. If the ads that appear are too ugly, though, I may have to get it again.

blog goals

I haven’t made any personal life goals for 2020 but, I have made a few for blogging/my blog.

  • Include/take more photos of my cats, myself, boyfriend, and my surroundings (same amount of food).
  • Clean up my media storage/delete all old Featured Images.
  • Commit to blog schedule (see above).
  • Update ‘About‘ page.
  • NEVER get more than 5 days behind on reading your blogs.
  • Fill out and publish all backlogged awards/tags.
  • Hold my 3rd giveaway on my Blogiversary in August, get the goodies shipped in a timely matter, and find a way to include international friends.
  • Spend less time rereading my own posts…

  1. I like the idea of being consistent with your blogs. I think it reminds people to check and see what you’re up to. If I haven’t seen your blogs for a while, I know something is up and I investigate.
I don’t mind if you get behind in my blogs because it is always nice to see that you’ve read a bunch of them at once.
Good luck with your blogging this year. I may not read the “beauty” pages, but I am there for the food and the stories of your work and life.

    1. Aw thank you so much, Anthony. πŸ™‚ I love that you would investigate if I didn’t post for awhile, that’s really so sweet! & I’m so glad you don’t mind when I come by & read a bunch of your posts at a time. I get so worried that it’ll be too many notifications! & I totally understand you aren’t interested in the “Beauty” posts! πŸ˜‰

  2. Oh God wow! I wish I am as consistent as you are with blogging. I’m always just the β€œwrite whenever you feel like it” and turns out in the end, I didn’t get to write anything.

Good luck Hun!! and happy new year! πŸ’˜

  3. Actually I admire your organization when it comes to blogging. You are a consistent writer. I want to strive to be more like that this year instead of one post per month. I’ll be adding Currently series too.

  4. I was so amazed at how you coordinated your posts monthly, and you’re consistent even now! I’ve been trying to figure out a schedule to roll out posts as well and it’s tough sometimes. I love how you figured out your own with what best works with you. I’m eager to read what you have going on and I’m looking forward to it all!

    1. Aw, that makes me so happy you remember the times ❀ I tried to post at least 1-2x a week during 2019 but, I always felt so scatter brained. I'm really motivated & excited for this new schedule. πŸ™‚ I hope you can find something that works for you!

Thank you for all your support, Stephanie! ❀

  5. Well done Hunida, I like to follow a schedule for my blog too though more so just what I’m posting rather than specific categories, unless it’s weekend / weekly highlights you know… I can already feel this is going to benefit you in so many ways, and I am so excited for all the posts you’re going to be sharing this year, good luck…. ps don’t worry if you get behind on reading my posts, you have a life to live too honey and you literally do so much already, and also like Anthony said above, it can be quite nice when you randomly hop on and I have so many comments from you, hehe!! Love ya beauty! Xxx

    1. Thanks, Jennie! πŸ™‚ Love that you follow a schedule, too. I have the specific posts more planned out in my Google Calendar but, just wanted to give it even more structure so I don’t over saturate my blog with the same category, you know? So happy to hear that you’ll be looking forward to my posts. ❀ I hope that it will benefit me!

Aw I really like being all caught up on blogs, lol, but that means a lot!! ❀ Thanks so much, babe, love ya too!!!

  6. Yes love it! I still have to figure out my own schedule now that I’ve split up my blog into two, luckily Alex can fill the space on the other one if I dont have much lol
Looking forward to all your content this year girl, you got this!

  7. i’m so excited for your new schedule – I really enjoy how diverse your content is! I’m super impressed by your organization for 2020 and I totally agree that sporadic blogging can be hard. I know there were so many times this year when I wasn’t in a headspace to blog, but pre-planning kept me consistent!

Also, I’m totally with you on not wanting to fall behind with reading others’ blogs. I really dug myself into a hole this year by falling 2-3 weeks behind.

Wishing you all the best in 2020!

    1. Aw thank you, LP! ❀ The sporadic blogging left me feeling scatter brained & less motivated. Pre-planning really does help. πŸ™‚

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I personally *want* to read most every post written by the people I follow. I hate falling behind! 2-3 weeks isn't so bad though. πŸ™‚ You'll catch up!

Wish you all the best, too!!! ❀

  8. I have never gone by a blog schedule, but I really think I need to! I think it will help keep me motivated and organized when life is nutzo. So excited to keep up with you through these posts!! And I love how you are giving yourself the freedom to not post if you so feel; this is a perfect setup. Also, this makes me think if I narrow down my Friday faves to 5 rather than 10 I could do more posts in that category. Thanks for sharing, Hunida!! This gave me lotsa incentive to figure out something for my own! xo

    1. It really does motivate me to write more with a schedule, & I’ll still write “when I feel like it” but now I can write more than one post a day & just schedule it, especially for the nutzo days. πŸ™‚ Thank you for always keeping up with me, Mackenzie!!!

I would love to see more Friday Faves from you!! I chose Five because of the alliteration, I couldn’t pass it up hahaha. πŸ˜€

  9. Love how organized, well-planned and super ambitious you are with your blog! When I first started blogging I basically didn’t plan anything. Like not even how many posts I’d write a week…it was bad! But planning ahead made me so much more excited to actually create content. Excited to see what you have in store for 2020!

    1. Thank you so much, Erica! ❀ In my first year of blogging I had so much more fun, I like having a plan. It def makes me more excited to create, too! I'm so happy you can relate. ❀ I'm also excited to see what you have in store for this year!

      1. Having a plan is key, but sometimes I sadly lack in that department and just wing it. (Talking about my life outside of blogging now.) I’m trying to be better this year! ❀️

    1. Thank you so so much, Kaya!! I’ll be looking up the best possible way to include you guys in my next giveaway. πŸ™‚ The prize may have to be different than what I will offer a US winner though.

❀ Hope your 2020 is treating you well, too!!

  10. I’m definitely a “write when you feel like it” and unfortunately I feel like it every day, if not multiple times a day. I think I spend the majority of my non-working life blogging. HA!

I love that a structured writing schedule works for you. If it’s Sunday and you don’t really have anything to say, you have the comfort of knowing you just have to do your three recipes and then you’re DONE! The rest of the day/night is YOURS to do with as you wish.

I wouldn’t even know how to resize pictures or if I’m running out of room. I’m assuming WordPress will tell me some fine day.

What made you decide to stop with the cute Featured Images? The size / storage factor? Who knew they even take up size/storage?????

I’m looking forward to the continuation of the food photos and expansion into the rest of your life photos. (That was a weird sentence I just wrote.)

Like Anthony said, no pressure to keep caught up with my posts. I don’t mind being hit up in batches, either. Blog reading and Blog writing should be fun, not a chore, right?

Looking forward to alllllllllllllllllllll your wonderful 2020 posts!

    Liked by 2 people

    1. “Unfortunately”? No way. I think that’s a talent or maybe, even a super power to have the urge to write everyday. ❀

I do think the structured schedule is going to work best for me. πŸ™‚ Especially having a set date for the Recipe Reviews, I can always schedule them, too!

When you pick a photo to insert into your post, in the corner of the box, it tells you how much percentage of storage you're using. You can resize photos with an app or a website! Just look up "photo resizer."

Yes, that is why I'm quitting the cute Featured Images. They do take up a lot of space & are kind of time consuming to make. I'm never happy with how they look, either!

πŸ™‚ Yay! So happy you will be looking forward to more photos!

& blog reading & writing are two of my fave hobbies, I'd never make it feel like a chore. I just want to stay up to date with everyone! I am already about 5 days behind again, though. πŸ˜›

Thank you!! Looking forward to all your 2020 posts, too!! ❀

      1. Thanks for the photo sizing tips. Looks like I have plenty of space left so I won’t worry about it. YET. Hey I was on some BLOGSPOT.COM blogs and they had that falling snow effect you were telling us about!!!!!

        1. Blogging is where I sort & organize my mind/thoughts. I want to remember all the things I’ve tried, eaten, watched & read (& hopefully discuss them with all my readers). I don’t really pay attention to the stats & never want it to become a job. πŸ™‚ I am very bad at social media, if i’m honest. I don’t even have a personal Instagram…

          1. I thought I was okay at social media, but I started taking some courses on how to use social media professionally and I have a lot to learn! I never wanted blogging to be a job either, but now I’m at a point where I can’t keep doing it unless it helps to support me somehow. Between you and me, I find Instagram kind of awkward. I mean, it feels weird to sit there and take pictures of myself…I already know what I look like πŸ˜›
