If you read my last Journal Entry, I’m sorry I didn’t write this yesterday like I said I was going to. I took a nap before work, during my slotted blogging time.
Starting from where we left off, on Monday, October 28th, boyfriend went to pick my dad up from his hotel at around 10 AM. I slept in a bit, while they fixed our car in the AutoZone parking lot. They weren’t sure what they were going to need so, it was easier to just walk in and out of the store. I’m pretty sure everything’s all fixed now. We don’t see any leaking and the engine’s no longer overheating. Woohoo!! Fingers crossed it stays that way for awhile!!
When I woke up, they were at the car wash. I took a shower and got ready for the day. When I finished, they were back to pick me up. Boyfriend and I smoked a blunt then, we brought my dad to Weera Thai. Last time he visited with his wife, he really enjoyed their food so, he wanted to go back. You guys probably know by now, boyfriend and I go here quite often, too.
We ordered everything to share. First, we had the Shrimp Spring Rolls. They were kind of loose/lazily rolled– all the stuffing fell out with each bite and the noodles seemed wet.
My dad picked this Dynamite Chicken but, was expecting “something saucy“, he said. I didn’t have any of the chicken but, I tried the sauce and it just tasted like sweet and sour. I don’t know what was “dynamite” about it.
I chose my favorite, Shrimp Tom Kha. It was a bit sour and my dad said it would give him heartburn so he only ate a small bowl of it. Boyfriend had one small bowl, too, and I got the rest to myself. I asked for the highest level of spicy but, it tasted exactly the same as when I ask for none…
Boyfriend got the Basil Chicken Stir-Fry. It was good, as usual, yet not at all spicy. He also asked for 5 out of 5 on the spicy scale but, nope! Nothing! How very disappointing, huh?
At least, it wasn’t as bad as the Laos Style Papaya and Vietnamese Noodle Salad. It was mostly ALL noodles. I saw ZERO strands of papaya but, my dad said he saw “maybe one or two” when he asked them to add more to it. He also mentioned that it was a bit too salty.
When they came back with our “improved” dish, there was more papaya BUT, it was even saltier than before. We just told them “we don’t want it anymore.” Luckily, they took it off our bill but, to be honest, I wasn’t going to pay for it even if they hadn’t!
Our last dish was the Crispy Pork Belly. It was quite tasty– not as good as the Chinese restaurant the day before, though. The sauce was simply sriracha sprayed into a cute, square dipping bowl. It wasn’t even needed.
We had a little more time before we had to drop my dad off at the airport so, we brought him to The Boulder Station Casino. He played this piggy bank slot machine game, didn’t win a dime, and then took a quick tour around the place. It was time to go after that.
When we got home, I asked boyfriend to bake us some Peanut Butter Cookies. 😀
They were a bit crispier than I prefer but, I do think the recipe he followed meant for them to turn out that way. They were still really yummy. The next day, I heated one up in the microwave and topped it with a sliced banana and a drizzle of honey… it was magnificent!!
You’d think we had enough food to eat by then but, it was early for us when we went to the Thai restaurant and cookies are not filling, so… around 9 PM, we both had a hankering for some greasy hamburgers.
And I only had one place on my mind…
Five Guys! We hadn’t been in TOO long and I was ready for all the toppings on my burger. We had never tried their milkshakes, either, so it was about time.
I love that you can do so many add-ons, on your burger AND in your shakes, at no extra charge. We went simple and shared a Strawberry Oreo milkshake. It was a bit melty but, sooo delicious going down my throat with a mouthful of fries and burger!!
We tried the Malt Vinegar to dip our fries in because I saw another couple doing it, lol… I was not a fan. 😛
I got the Little Bacon Burger with BBQ sauce, fresh jalapenos, pickles, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, and grilled mushrooms. It is making my mouth water just looking at it and I just got back from stuffing my face at Red Pot!!
Boyfriend got the Bacon Cheeseburger, he added A1 sauce, tomato, lettuce, mustard, grilled mushrooms, grilled jalapenos, and grilled onions. Just look at all its glory!!!!
I bought the Spooky Stuff Pack and Island Living Expansion Pack for my Sims 4 because I couldn’t resist the sale. I played the game all night and had my Sim family go through their version of Halloween. We had no trick-or-treaters at our home though. 😦 They were all a little upset about that and frankly, so was I.
On Tuesday, October 29th, we went to Spirit Halloween, Walmart, and Sprouts and then, finally got to relax at home for the rest of the night. Boyfriend made us a heartwarming Kielbasa Cabbage Soup for dinner.
Wednesday, October 30th, we didn’t leave our apartment once. Boyfriend made us awesome stuffed bacon and onion turkey burgers. ❤
On October 31st, HALLOWEEN!!! We had tickets to a “Haunted Mansion Cocktail Party” AKA the Artisan Boutique Hotel.
We paid $25 each and had an open bar from 8 PM-10 PM. You bet our alcoholic asses were one of the first people in line. We got there at 7:30 PM and surprisingly, a couple other groups made it before us (and a few budged while we were sitting down).
We waited in line for a short moment before getting our wrists stamped and banded. They also came to scan our tickets. This event was hosted by Rock Star Beer Festivals (the Eventbrite page says I should mention that 😉). Everyone was hyped, fun, and soso kind!! I was absolutely pumped to get in!!
But, here are some pictures of us while we waited…
LOL, if you couldn’t tell– boyfriend was a safari man/animal tamer and I was his leopard. 😉
I wanted as many photos of us as I could get while we still looked good but, people started getting in line in front of us before we could get full body shots.
Don’t worry though!! We eventually got the photos on the smoking patio when we made our way out there later in the night.
When we were first let in, it wasn’t exactly 8 PM yet so the bartenders weren’t allowed to serve us free drinks. They had rail drinks, domestic beers, and two signature drinks for us to choose from when they did open up.
The Artisan Hotel is always kind of spooky but, oh my gosh, the way they set everything up was absolutely perfect. It was just the kind of Halloween atmosphere anyone would want to be in for the holiday.
For the first half hour or so, I kept seeing the same faces and costumes– it wasn’t extremely crowded at all. It was super chill and easy to move around, lines to get drinks were short but, the place eventually got PACKED. Luckily, by that time, I was pretty tipsy and was able to enjoy being around that many people without feeling suffocated.
The two signature drinks they offered were a Blackberry Margarita and a disgusting Apple Sangria. I couldn’t even finish the “sangria” but, I was able to down 4 (or 5?) of the margs before they ran out of it!! I was mad they didn’t bring more of the stuff… but, hey, it gave me the worst heartburn anyways.
Boyfriend drank a few cups of this tangerine flavored tap beer and quite a few whiskeys on the rocks (they weren’t allowed to give us straight shots without ice).
Since they ran out of the margaritas before I was done drinking for the night, I switched to Dirty Shirleys. They only had brown tequila on offer, which I hate so, I strayed away from my usual tequila and pineapple juice. Boyfriend ordered the first Dirty Shirley for me and they told him “don’t tell anyone I made this for you, we’re not supposed to.” I don’t really see why not though? It’s just one extra ingredient from a vodka and 7 Up…
When he came back with my drink, we walked to a different bar, on the other side of the “mansion” and, got a shot of vodka on the rocks to add into it. It was then, a pretty decent drink. 🙂
There were so many different costumes to observe and a few different rooms to walk through.
The room where they were serving the special beer was especially cool. I was dying over the awesome wallart!!
Before we discovered this room, boyfriend had a Miller Lite but, threw it right in the trash to have the tangerine beer I mentioned before. There was supposed to be free champagne somewhere but, when I asked, there was only Chardonnay available… oh well!! I definitely had a good amount to drink without it!
Since Artisan is one of the only hotels that don’t allow indoor smoking, every time boyfriend needed a cigarette, we got to sit out in the fresh air, on the nice big patio.
I was so bloated from all the drinks and my costume is like, 3 or 4 years old so please, excuse the way my costume is squeezing the life outta me, LOL. I’m pretty sure I’ve worn it every Halloween ever since I bought it. These are like my 4th pair of ears though– I keep losing them. They are the only thing I picked up at Spirit Halloween when we went earlier in the week, everything else I’m wearing, I already owned.
Boyfriend picked out the whip and hat but, we couldn’t find a good top. We had to go to Walmart to find this one The boots, shorts, and belt were all his already. I think he looked pretty darn good, ay?! 😉
Right before the clock struck 10 PM, we got our last drinks (I ordered another Dirty Shirley and the bartender didn’t have a fit like the first one did). Then, we waited in the line to take a picture with this clown guy. We talked to the couple in front of us a little and it worked out in our favor because the iPad camera was only taking gifs when we all wanted still shots.
The couple asked us to take a still picture with their phone and then, offered to take pictures of us on ours. *Big shout to that lovely couple!! 😁
Before we left, we both made a run to the bathroom. I saw the funniest costume while I was waiting in line… this girl had a picture frame around her with tattoos and a mustache drawn on her face. She was… POST MALONA LISA. I was cracking up because I didn’t get it at first… I thought she was just trying to blend in with one of the many paintings on the wall at Artisan but, then, her friend said something about her costume and I couldn’t stop laughing. Lol. So clever.
We stopped at McDonald’s on the way home. We wanted White Castle but, when we drove by, the huge line scared us away. I got a McDouble with no cheese, added Mac sauce and a med fry on the side. We also shared a spicy McChicken. Yuuum!
Friday, November 1st was our 5 year anniversary!! We didn’t do anything special that day because I had to get back to work after my long break.
Boyfriend made us the crispiest skinned Cajun chicken skillet dinner with all kinds of veg. It was so tasty! I didn’t have that much tequila left in the freezer so, after drinking it all, we sstopped at the bar to get one more drink together before boyfriend dropped me off at work.
I really got lucky because an “Asian girl” was requested. The client was already in the champagne room waiting for me. We did an hour together, with another girl, who had already done an hour with him prior to me coming in.
One of the waitresses just came up to me, while I was lollygagging and wasting time with another client, and said “someone wants to meet you.” When I got to the room, the client asked, “are you Asian?” I answered, “super!” and that was it, I won him over, lol.
I called boyfriend to pick me up around 5 AM. When I got home, he heated up a chicken thigh for me. I ate it, took a shower, smoked a blunt, canoodled a bit, then finally went to sleep around 8 AM.
Yesterday, we went to Chipotle for dinner! I tried the carnitas for the first time because I’ve been watching a lot of Matt Stonie on YouTube and he said that it was the best tasting meat in his Burrito Challenge. I beg to differ though– it was good but, I think the steak and barbacoa are both better. 😛 Luckily, I had them mix in some barbacoa with the carnitas, too. The brown rice was terribly hard though, I could barely eat it. I finished less than half of my bowl.
Boyfriend tried the Carne Asada for the first time, sadly, it was dry and overcooked… again, I would rather have the steak. He also did half chicken.
Work went alright… it was slow but, I can’t complain. I got there at midnight and was super tired by 4 AM.
Today, we wanted lobster in a sort of small celebration for our anniversary. We remembered Red Pot had just added it to their menu and it’s really one of the best places to eat around here so, we thought why not go there?!
I guess we had never gone before 5 PM or they changed their hours because I thought dinner started at 4? When we got there, it was only 4:15 and the doors were locked. We saw they weren’t going to be open until 5 PM so we went to do a quick grocery shop at Sprouts while we waited. We dropped the food off at home and smoked a blunt before going back.
We ordered the Spicy Yellow Curry and Mixed Mushroom broths, a medium lobster, two clusters of snow crab 💗, a peach iced black tea, and a strawberry iced black tea.
I LOVED the crab but, the lobster didn’t taste fresh to me… it had too strong of an ocean flavor that I’ve never really detected in lobster before? I had two pieces then, let boyfriend demolish the rest.
We ate until we were both groaning, feeling as though our stomachs would burst. On our way home, we stopped at Starbucks. I got a Grande Coffee Frapp with almond milk, three shots of espresso, and cookie crumbles. Boyfriend got a Venti Vanilla Bean Frapp with three shots of espresso and regular cow’s milk.
I put mine in the freezer right when we got home then, smoked a blunt and waited for it to freeze up. The espresso always makes it a bit too liquidy.
I have now just finished drinking it and finally, we are all caught up. 🙂 Thank you so much for reading all the way through!! I’ve got tons of posts coming your way, very soon!!
