November 01, 2019
Happy November (and belated Halloween)! I had a pretty busy week with my dad visiting and celebrating the holiday last night but, we’ll get to all that later!
Last time I wrote was, Wednesday, the 23rd. So, starting from Thursday, the 24th… boyfriend whipped us up a shrimp stir-fry with noodles at home. We made our usual run to Starbucks and also, had to go to Total Wine to buy me some more Patrón. When we got home, we smoked a blunt, I did my hair and makeup, drank a mixed drink or two… then, headed off to work. I got there around 11 PM or midnight and went home at 3 AM.
Friday, the 25th, we ran out of food to eat in our fridge. We thought we were gonna go to Chipotle but, instead, stopped and turned into Applebee’s on the way there! We hadn’t been in awhile and I really love their Wonton Tacos.
Luckily, we made it just in time for their first round of half-off apps for the day! We didn’t even know it until we got there so, of course, boyfriend ordered their Boneless Hot Buffalo Wings, too.
They smelled sooo good, but I held myself back from having even one. The dairy and spice wouldn’t have been good on the tum. 😉
I got the Tuscan Shrimp Salad that had, ‘NEW!‘, by it in red letters. I thought I had never tried it before but, I’m pretty sure it’s the exact same one I got last time, lol. The shrimps were sad and small but, cooked and seasoned well. The lemon dressing wasn’t bad, just a little too sour, and I liked the mix of greens.
Boyfriend got the BBQ Brisket Tacos, which, I couldn’t hold myself back from. I had to have one bite and guess what? I was pleasantly surprised. They were actually quite tasty! I mean, they didn’t blow my mind or knock my socks off, but… for Applebee’s… OKAAAY!!!
When we finished eating, we went to Starbucks, and continued the rest of my before-work routine. From what I remember, the night went pretty well! I was there from 11 PM-4 AM.
On Saturday, the 26th, we went to Ramen Sora for dinner.
We got our beloved gyoza to share. Unfortunately, we could tell by the sear on them that our preferred chef wasn’t in the kitchen.
This time, I got the Deluxe bowl so I could have an extra piece of chashu and some seaweed. With the Deluxe, they give two extra pieces of meat so, I gave one to boyfriend.
Work was similar to the night before but, it could’ve been better. I spent a lot of the night having “deep”
-drunk convos with my co-worker. I listened to her life story until I was almost in tears then, we went back to work. I was there around 12 AM-4 AM. I broke my right pointer finger nail really bad during my last dance of the night. It hurt so bad and I’m still so upset.
When boyfriend picked me up, I was feeling a little hungry and I knew we had to eat something to soothe the alcohol in our tummies. We stopped at Rivas Mexican Grill for some tacos and bean dip!!
We ordered it all to-go and brought it home to eat. I got the hard shell beef tacos and boyfriend got the soft shell shrimps.
We didn’t get to bed until around 6 AM. We only had 5 hours of sleep before we had to wake up and pick my dad up from the airport! He told us he’d be landing at 1:30 PM so, we got there on time but, found out his flight was delayed… then, he got lost trying to find us. We were waiting at the baggage claim but, he didn’t listen or follow any of the other passengers because he didn’t have any bags… then, somehow, he was in a whole different terminal for awhile… LOL. We didn’t leave the airport until almost 3 PM.
When we finally found each other, we headed straight to Golden Nugget, where my dad booked his free room for the night. He was flying home the very next day since he really only came to fix our car.
While he was checking into the hotel, I went to the bathroom and realized that my Aunt Flo also came to visit so, we had to drive back to our place and get my necessities.
Then, our next stop was good ol’ Walmart. My dad forgot his charger and he is on his phone, literally, 24/7 (doing who knows what??) so we had to go before we ate. We were already starving by this time but, even more so after the shopping around.
We wanted to try this new Chinese restaurant, advertising live seafood, called New Asian BBQ.
The interior was traditional and fancy, everything looked brand new.
They gave us complimentary hot tea and a bowl of soup to share. The tea was yummy but, the soup was so plain. The corn had lost all its sweetness somehow and the only other thing was beef.
All three of us chose the Crispy Pork Belly as our favorite dish of the night. The skin was seriously so wonderfully crunchy and the meat wasn’t too fatty or salty at all. The pickled veg on the side was tasty, too.
They didn’t have the exact greens we were hoping for but, we found the delicious Garlic Ong Cha on the menu– I just wish the garlic flavor had been more prominent.
The Yang Chow Fried Rice came with shrimp and BBQ pork. It looked and sounded promising but, ended up being our biggest disappointment. It tasted like white rice with some mix-ins.
Aaaand the last thing we ordered was this all beef clay pot soup. My dad picked it so, I have no idea what it’s called. It has fatty pieces (which he loves), beef with white bones, and really tender brisket. The broth was extra thick and a little sickening… otherwise, it wasn’t terrible.
Sadly, we passed on the lobster because they were charging an arm and a leg per pound with only 3 pounds available at a time… after trying out their food, we were actually glad not to have spent the money. We suspect they would have ruined the precious shellfish anyways!!
After I paid our tab, they gave us free dessert that tasted like dish water! We all took a sip and said, “I’ll pass.”
When we finished eating, we brought my dad back to Golden Nugget. He played his go-to card game, Mississippi Studs, all night while boyfriend and I walked around, gambling on random slot machines. We had a lot of fun standing behind my dad at times, cheering him on, too.
Of course, boyfriend and I got hungry again so, we went in search of these spicy hot dogs we found on Fremont Street once.
We did eventually get to the same spot but, we think it’s a totally different owner and menu now. We still ordered our hot dogs but, these were bacon-wrapped and topped with all kinds of goodies. Mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, pickles!! I was sad they didn’t have the spicy roasted jalapeno I was looking for but, this hot dog still definitely hit the spot.
UNTIL, boyfriend and I headed home and got the munchies AGAIN. We were still needing our spicy fix so, I looked up Buffalo Wild Wings and oh my gosh, GET THIS… ALL of them around here are open 24/7. How did we never know this?!? I felt like I was in a dream.
I ordered online for pick-up at the nearest location. We got a large with Blazin’, Jammin’ Jalapeno, Spicy Garlic, and Wild. It was our first time trying the jalapeno sauce and… we will never get it again. It was super sweet and had absolutely no spice. The other 3 sauces have always been our absolute faves.
My fingers are getting sick of typing since my one with the broken nail is out of commission (wrapped with a big band-aid), dinner is almost done, and this is getting mighty long as it is so, I better sign off now!!
I’ll be back tomorrow with another Journal Entry, starting right where we left off. I can’t wait to show you guys our Halloween costumes and the spooky party we went to!! What did you dress up as?!
