Happy November (and belated Halloween)! I had a pretty busy week with my dad visiting and celebrating the holiday last night but, we’ll get to all that later!

Last time I wrote was, Wednesday, the 23rd. So, starting from Thursday, the 24th… boyfriend whipped us up a shrimp stir-fry with noodles at home. We made our usual run to Starbucks and also, had to go to Total Wine to buy me some more PatrΓ³n. When we got home, we smoked a blunt, I did my hair and makeup, drank a mixed drink or two… then, headed off to work. I got there around 11 PM or midnight and went home at 3 AM.

Friday, the 25th, we ran out of food to eat in our fridge. We thought we were gonna go to Chipotle but, instead, stopped and turned into Applebee’s on the way there! We hadn’t been in awhile and I really love their Wonton Tacos.

Luckily, we made it just in time for their first round of half-off apps for the day! We didn’t even know it until we got there so, of course, boyfriend ordered their Boneless Hot Buffalo Wings, too.

They smelled sooo good, but I held myself back from having even one. The dairy and spice wouldn’t have been good on the tum. πŸ˜‰

I got the Tuscan Shrimp Salad that had, ‘NEW!‘, by it in red letters. I thought I had never tried it before but, I’m pretty sure it’s the exact same one I got last time, lol. The shrimps were sad and small but, cooked and seasoned well. The lemon dressing wasn’t bad, just a little too sour, and I liked the mix of greens.

Boyfriend got the BBQ Brisket Tacos, which, I couldn’t hold myself back from. I had to have one bite and guess what? I was pleasantly surprised. They were actually quite tasty! I mean, they didn’t blow my mind or knock my socks off, but… for Applebee’sOKAAAY!!!

When we finished eating, we went to Starbucks, and continued the rest of my before-work routine. From what I remember, the night went pretty well! I was there from 11 PM-4 AM.

On Saturday, the 26th, we went to Ramen Sora for dinner.

We got our beloved gyoza to share. Unfortunately, we could tell by the sear on them that our preferred chef wasn’t in the kitchen.

This time, I got the Deluxe bowl so I could have an extra piece of chashu and some seaweed. With the Deluxe, they give two extra pieces of meat so, I gave one to boyfriend.

Work was similar to the night before but, it could’ve been better. I spent a lot of the night having “deep”-drunk convos with my co-worker. I listened to her life story until I was almost in tears then, we went back to work. I was there around 12 AM-4 AM. I broke my right pointer finger nail really bad during my last dance of the night. It hurt so bad and I’m still so upset.

When boyfriend picked me up, I was feeling a little hungry and I knew we had to eat something to soothe the alcohol in our tummies. We stopped at Rivas Mexican Grill for some tacos and bean dip!!

We ordered it all to-go and brought it home to eat. I got the hard shell beef tacos and boyfriend got the soft shell shrimps.

We didn’t get to bed until around 6 AM. We only had 5 hours of sleep before we had to wake up and pick my dad up from the airport! He told us he’d be landing at 1:30 PM so, we got there on time but, found out his flight was delayed… then, he got lost trying to find us. We were waiting at the baggage claim but, he didn’t listen or follow any of the other passengers because he didn’t have any bags… then, somehow, he was in a whole different terminal for awhile… LOL. We didn’t leave the airport until almost 3 PM.

When we finally found each other, we headed straight to Golden Nugget, where my dad booked his free room for the night. He was flying home the very next day since he really only came to fix our car.

While he was checking into the hotel, I went to the bathroom and realized that my Aunt Flo also came to visit so, we had to drive back to our place and get my necessities.

Then, our next stop was good ol’ Walmart. My dad forgot his charger and he is on his phone, literally, 24/7 (doing who knows what??) so we had to go before we ate. We were already starving by this time but, even more so after the shopping around.

We wanted to try this new Chinese restaurant, advertising live seafood, called New Asian BBQ.

The interior was traditional and fancy, everything looked brand new.

Our server divvied up the contents into our small bowls before I could take a photo so, that’s why it looks empty. πŸ˜›

They gave us complimentary hot tea and a bowl of soup to share. The tea was yummy but, the soup was so plain. The corn had lost all its sweetness somehow and the only other thing was beef.

All three of us chose the Crispy Pork Belly as our favorite dish of the night. The skin was seriously so wonderfully crunchy and the meat wasn’t too fatty or salty at all. The pickled veg on the side was tasty, too.

They didn’t have the exact greens we were hoping for but, we found the delicious Garlic Ong Cha on the menu– I just wish the garlic flavor had been more prominent.

The Yang Chow Fried Rice came with shrimp and BBQ pork. It looked and sounded promising but, ended up being our biggest disappointment. It tasted like white rice with some mix-ins.

Aaaand the last thing we ordered was this all beef clay pot soup. My dad picked it so, I have no idea what it’s called. It has fatty pieces (which he loves), beef with white bones, and really tender brisket. The broth was extra thick and a little sickening… otherwise, it wasn’t terrible.

Sadly, we passed on the lobster because they were charging an arm and a leg per pound with only 3 pounds available at a time… after trying out their food, we were actually glad not to have spent the money. We suspect they would have ruined the precious shellfish anyways!!

After I paid our tab, they gave us free dessert that tasted like dish water! We all took a sip and said, “I’ll pass.”

When we finished eating, we brought my dad back to Golden Nugget. He played his go-to card game, Mississippi Studs, all night while boyfriend and I walked around, gambling on random slot machines. We had a lot of fun standing behind my dad at times, cheering him on, too.

Of course, boyfriend and I got hungry again so, we went in search of these spicy hot dogs we found on Fremont Street once.

We did eventually get to the same spot but, we think it’s a totally different owner and menu now. We still ordered our hot dogs but, these were bacon-wrapped and topped with all kinds of goodies. Mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, pickles!! I was sad they didn’t have the spicy roasted jalapeno I was looking for but, this hot dog still definitely hit the spot.

UNTIL, boyfriend and I headed home and got the munchies AGAIN. We were still needing our spicy fix so, I looked up Buffalo Wild Wings and oh my gosh, GET THIS… ALL of them around here are open 24/7. How did we never know this?!? I felt like I was in a dream.

I ordered online for pick-up at the nearest location. We got a large with Blazin’, Jammin’ Jalapeno, Spicy Garlic, and Wild. It was our first time trying the jalapeno sauce and… we will never get it again. It was super sweet and had absolutely no spice. The other 3 sauces have always been our absolute faves.

My fingers are getting sick of typing since my one with the broken nail is out of commission (wrapped with a big band-aid), dinner is almost done, and this is getting mighty long as it is so, I better sign off now!!

I’ll be back tomorrow with another Journal Entry, starting right where we left off. I can’t wait to show you guys our Halloween costumes and the spooky party we went to!! What did you dress up as?!

  1. Your photos look yummy! Shame the restaurant disappointed!

I feel your pain with the broken fingernail. It’s a pain in the ass all around. It’s annoying and jacks up the manicure. How rude!

I’ve been so busy! Reading your blog is a breath of fresh air!

    1. Yay! Glad you enjoyed the photos. 😊 Sadly, the restaurant really was a disappointment.

I’m still very upset about my fingernail lol. It has ruined everything since I’ve cut them all down to match it now. 😭

It seems like it’s been a busy time of year for everyone, no worries. πŸ’– Thank you so much for stopping by!!

    1. It’s so much easier to get things off your chest after a few alcoholic beverages, isn’t it? I love a good drunk convo, too. 😊 Thanks so much for stopping by! I’ll be posting our costumes soon! πŸ’–

HAHAHA the whole mess with your dad geez!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Omg crispy pork belly (or ‘shao rou’ as we say in Chinese), is such a fave of mine!
AHHH HALLOWEEN! I CANT WAIT TO READ! Hopefully your nail and your car gets fixed up good reaaal soon! Hear from ya sooon!😊😁

    1. It is nice to have at least one co-worker I can talk to, even if we are drunk lol. My dad loves to explore on his own & never listens to directions! It’s no wonder he got lost. πŸ˜‚

Oo, thank you for teaching me Chinese! πŸ’— Shao Rou is so dang good!!

I’ll have my post up about Halloween soon. Going to write it now!!

      Thank you, Cordelia!! πŸ’–

  3. Oh my gossshhhh All this food looks amazing, what a journey so far! I did not dress up as anything, really for Halloween. I wore a shirt that a character named Frisk wears in a video game called Undertale, but I’m not sure any of the kids recognized me.

    Have a nice day!

    1. Thank you for reading!! I think what you did can definitely be considered dressing up. I have no idea who Frisk is or what Undertale is though… I’ll have to look it up!

Hope you have a nice day, too! πŸ˜ŠπŸ’–

  4. I just got home from the grocery store and dinner is still an hour away so PROBABLY not the best time to be reading one of your scrumpdillyicious journal posts, but here we are.

Shrimp stir fry with noodles sounds so good!!!

Can you believe I had to Google PatrΓ³n? I can never remember if it’s a kind of champagne or a tequila. Ok…Tequila. The only way I know tequila is in margaritas and whatever kind of tequila I bought the last time I made them was NASTY. I know it wasn’t PatrΓ³n. It was something else and it was so bad. Lord it was bad. My cousin Lindy Loo (real name Linda but I called her Lindy Loo) had to choke them down. I’ll try PatrΓ³n next time. I checked three websites and that is what they say I should’ve been using.

    I want those wonton tacos!!!!!

Buffalo boneless wings look yummy, too, but I saw a funny tweet that said something about boneless not being wings at all “They’re just chicken nuggets in buffalo sauce”. I personally don’t care as it is all about the sauce anyway.

Sorry the shrimp in your salad were sad and small.

BBQ brisket and fries looks the yummiest of all though, I must say.

Mmmm goyza…how I do love it.

Had to google Chashu. Mmm pork belly! Gimme.

Oh boy!!! Tacos and bean dip!!!! You are killing me.

Ugh, picking people up at the airport CAN BE a nightmare. I remember when my friend in high school came to visit from Japan. We had to go to like 3 different terminals before we finally found him. By that time I was pretty much over my Welcome Kazuo! sign.

Damn Aunt Flo and her surprise visits!!!!

“The broth was extra thick and a little sickening… otherwise, it wasn’t terrible.” LOL

Glad you didn’t waste your money on the lobster that probably would’ve been old and tough and dry and overcooked.

    That dishwater-tasting dessert looks disgusting.

Your dad sounds like a cute little gambler.

That picture with the casino signs and stuff is really cool.

I first read through this post yesterday, I think, and as soon as I saw those hot dogs I had to add hot dogs to my grocery list. They and their buns are now in my fridge.

Looking forward to your halloween post!!!!

    1. Hopefully the photos revved up your hunger & made the food taste even better when dinner time came around. πŸ˜‰ The shrimp stir-fry was pretty good– can’t wait to share in a future Recipe Reviews!

Aw. That’s okay you had to google Patron. I am definitely a tequila girl, champagne gives me a bad headache most of the time. 😝 Some tequilas could for sure ruin a margarita mix, Patron is probably my favorite but a lot of people also like Don Julio. You’ll have to let me knoe if you try it! Also, love your nickname for your cousin, hehe. πŸ’–

Those Wonton Tacos are so dang good & that’s so funny you mentioned that! I was making fun of boyfriend for choosing the boneless because bone-in is my preference. The sauce really is all that matters though!

I hate small shrimps lol they just don’t taste as good to me. The BBQ Brisket tacos were surspring! & mmmm. Yes gyoza. 🀀πŸ₯Ÿ oooo, you would melt over chashu, it’s so wonderful. & the tacos & bean dip always hit the spot!!

Airports can be confusing but my dad could have just listened & followed everyone else LOL. I love that you had a ‘Welcome Kazuo’ sign. I was joking that I shoulda made one for my dad that day. πŸ˜‚

Lol, Aunt Flo is always a surprise even though I know I should expect it. I need to learn to carry my pads with me at all times!

The beef was tender & flavorful in that clay pot but the broth… ick. πŸ‘ŽπŸ½The dessert tasted as bad as it looks!

That picture is on Fremont Street– my favorite place to party!! πŸ₯³ Hot dogs are the best snack, hehe.

I’ll have my post about Halloween up soon!! πŸ’–

  5. Oh yikes – I shuttered reading about your broken nail. Hope it heals soon!

I’m glad you were able to find your dad at the airport. I’ve def gotten myself lost in airports before lol.

I cannot remember the last time I ate at Applebees but now I’m craving it lol! I wish more places like this had more gluten free options (like wings) that tasted good!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Ugh, I shudder everytime I remember it breaking. There was even a loud cracking noise. 😭

My dad was so silly, I wish he would listen better lol. I’m glad we found him eventually though! It’s easy to get lost with all the different terminals & such!

Applebee’s Wonton Tacos are so good & I love getting them at half-price! πŸ˜‰ They actually are really understanding & accommodating about dietary restrictions & such! You can just ask them & I even think all the info is on their website!

  6. Every time I read one of your journal entries I get so hungry! Lol! I was kind of looking forward to trying the jalapeΓ±o wings from Buffalo Wild Wings because I love me some spice. But after reading your review on them, I’ll pass! Thanks for sharing Hunida! Have a great week! πŸ’œ

    1. Hehe, sorry, Toya!! It’s best to bring a snack during my journals since food is my fave topic. πŸ˜‚ We were actually really looking forward to the new Jalapeno flavor, too, but really… I don’t get how it got its place on the hotter side of the BWW spice scale when it’s so mild. Thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ’— Hope you have a great week, too!

  7. Yummy! So much food here lol.
I haven’t gone to Applebee’s lately, in a long time actually, because the last time or two we were there we werent impressed with it? Maybe the chef was different, they all are. But the food didnt taste as good as it used to from when we first started going. So we havent gone back lol
Aww sucks that your preferred chef wasnt there at ramen sora. I was gonna say, why dont you ask who the cook is when the food is really good and ask when the person is there? I would totally do that haha
Yummy tacos, havent had some in over a week or two lmao.
That is so hilarious about your dad! My mom almost did the same thing but she got lost trying to find her way to baggage claim. I kept telling her she needed to go downstairs but she was like “no I’m by the counters” and I kept telling “downstairs!!” And “in your ticket it should say what carousel your bag is at” but she wouldn’t listen. She ended up asking a person there hahaha
Oh my goodness that Chinese place sounds disappointing. I honestly havent found a Chinese place here that I really like. They all have things in the menu that werent as good. It sucks. Either my palate has changed drastically since I was kid (i used to love Chinese food) or maybe the food isnt as great as I remember… idk..
I cannot wait to go to Freemont St! Haha maybe not so much as night bevause I got my kiddo, but during the day would be nice. I wanna take lots of touristy pics lmao
I’m not big on wings anymore, not sure why, and I’m not a huge fan of BWW either, I found another spot here called WingStop and I like their menu of sauces better lol.
I dressed up as a ravenclaw for Halloween, alex wore his panda pj’s onesie, and Ciel was super Mario. Lol.

    1. Ah I know what you mean! Sometimes Applebees is good, other times… not so much. At Ramen Sora, there’s a small window into the kitchen so I already know which chef is the one we prefer. When he’s not there, it’s never as good. 😦

      Gosh, I love tacos!! Lol.

Oh my gosh, too funny your mom had to ask someone. My dad ended up having to ask someone how to get to where we were, too. He had to take a whole train & everything LOL.

We were all SO SO disappointed by that Chinese buffet. It could be that your palate has changed because, it does do that every 7 years! But, I think a lot of Chinese places make their food so lazily… like no love at all.

Yeah!! Fremont Street is a blast. I’d love to walk it during the day with you, if you want us to come!! I love taking touristy pics. You know one I never did was by the “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign because there’s always a huge line.

Boyfriend is obsessed with wings lol, they are probably his fave thing in the world to eat besides steak! We tried WingStop, they’re chicken is much more plump & juicy than BWW but, we didn’t like any of the sauces we tried!? Which sauces do/did you like?

AW did you take any pics of your Halloween costumes? Did you post them?! I wanna seeeeee!!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Haha nice, at least you know who cooks now πŸ˜‰
It’s definitely true that they’ve lost their touch because I havent come across a good place where I feel like their food is like flavorful. It always tastes so bland to me.
Omg if you wanna hang out with us all day I’m so totally up for that you know this place better than I do anyway lol. I was telling Alex that we should set one day for his family aside, thinking Friday since we have to drive out there and we can spend Thursday, Saturday and Sunday in and around Vegas and with you guys lol. I plan on going to Boulder City which is 30 mins out as a surprise for Ciel, they have a train museum there he would LOVE that and they also have train rides. It should be fun 😁😁.
Omg now that you mention it I’ve been thinking about the welcome to Vegas sign but if it’s too packed near there then never mind 🀣
I honestly dont remember which sauces they even had, last time we had wings from there was last year during the summer? I’ll have to look it up and see if I recognize any….brb…

I just looked up the menu the only ones I recognized were the mango habanero, which was a bit hot for me and the hickory smoked bbq which I wasnt into lol. I cant remember if I actually tried the spicy Korean Q, but I also remember trying a honey one, but its not there? Do they change their flavors often??
We only took one pic together with our costumes because the kids were too impatient lol. I will actually have pics whenever I post my Fall Bucket List recap since that was kind of part of it lol. Mine was just the robe hahahaha

        Liked by 1 person

        1. Lol I would feel bad going into the restaurant just to check who was cooking though & I totally agree about most Chinese restaurants seeming bland these days!

I forgot to ask what time you’ll be leaving on Sunday?? You know we wake up really late so you guys can do all the touristy stuff during the day, we’d love to do dinner with you any (maybe more than one?) of the nights you’re here?? Boulder City isn’t too far away! I hope Ciel loves the train museum. πŸ˜€ & every time we see the Vegas sign, there’s a huge line & it’s outside so it looks so weird to be standing there LOL. I still wanna picture there someday though!!

Not sure if WingStop changes their flavors often lol we’ve only been there like once or maybe twice? We’ll have to go back & check out the Korean & Habenero flavors!!

Can’t wait to see the costumes!! I remember you got a wand, too?! Did you not carry it around?!

          Liked by 1 person

          1. Lol true may be weird haha
Our flight leaves at 850pm on Sunday. So we have until 730 to return the car. Was able to get a rental from the airport so I’m glad I waited until you told me about that haha.
And yeah we can have dinner Thursday if you’re free, Saturday and Sunday before we take off lol.
I hope he likes it too because I’m literally adding that to the list FOR HIM. πŸ™ˆ
Well we can check it out a day when you’re with us and if the line isnt too long we can take your picture and you can take ours haha
Yes! I did carry it around to complete the costume but I dont think I have it in the picture we took lol.

            Liked by 1 person

            1. Oh yay!! Glad you found a convenient car & that’s awesome you are leaving so late on Sunday. πŸ˜€ Let us know where you want to have dinner those days!!

You’ll have to take pictures of the train museum, too. I gotta see it!! Are there any other museums you are interested in?

Okay, sounds good about the Las Vegas sign!!

  8. How fun that your dad came to visit! It sounds like a nice time with him, but that restaurant’s foods sounds crazy disappointing lol. But hey, at least you got Buffalo Wild Wings later!! I love Bdubs!! I hope your fingernail didn’t hurt for too long, that sounds awful!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I always love when my dad comes to visit but yeah, the food was reeeeally disappointing. :/ BDubs is too good, lol. I got sick of it for awhile because when I first started dating boyfriend he alwaaays brought me there, he loves it so much!!

Finger nail is all healed now but SUPER short & sad. 😦 Thank you!
