My Top 5: Most Non-Millennial Things About Millennial Me

Happy Saturday, beautiful people!! Before I start, I really, truly do not mean to offend anyone with this post so, if you are a *snowflake* please, proceed with caution or do not proceed at all.

As a millennial, these opinions are the ones I get looked down on for the most so, I feel they are a bit unpopular. Inspired by Jamie’s Unpopular Opinions series on her blog (@Don’t Give A Jam), here are My Top 5: Most Non-Millennial Things About Millennial Me.

1. I hate avocados.

The texture, the taste, the looks of it. Get those things away from me and off of all the food I order. My sister eats it out of the skin like a cup of yogurt and I know A LOT of people enjoy this fruit(?), all kinds of ways but, honestly, how and why?? It’s SO smushy and has no flavor.

2. I do not enjoy outdoor activities such as music festivals, hiking, or camping.

I admit, I’ve gone hiking and camping, both one time each– and never will I do either of them again because, I HATED it. The whole time I was outdoors, I wondered (and complained, out loud) “how long will it be until I can be back in my cozy apartment?”

3. “Lit” and “aesthetically pleasing” are not adjectives in my vocabulary.

I only say “lit” when I’m asking boyfriend if he’s lit the blunt yet; as a past tense verb. πŸ˜‰

4. Winged eyeliner isn’t my favorite.

I’m so sorry, I know a lot of you still love it, but I’ve started to prefer eye looks without it MUCH, much more. The wings are out of style!

5. Birkens and Teavas are STILL ugly!

There are cuter ways to be comfy. Why are my fellow millennials wearing these? They look like they were made for old, creepy men with side smirks and wandering eyes.

    1. LOL! The first time my barista at a small hipster coffee shop used it at me, I had to ask her what it meant. πŸ˜‚ It’s the millennial way of saying “cool” or “awesome” pretty much.

    1. Ugh, avocados are the worst & I hate that almost everything I order comes with it nowadays. 😭 LOL I like your blog, probably because you do so many adventurous things I’d never do. Also, your writing is engaging & always interesting. πŸ’—

      1. Thanks!

How do you find new blogs to follow? LiveJournal made it so easy for me to see who my friends were following. WordPress’s Discover feed only shows me blogs I’m not even interested in. πŸ˜•

        1. I usually always check out blogs that follow mine, like, or comment on my posts– most of the time, we have the same interests. πŸ™‚ From there, you can find more people through their comments sections and the Reader usually suggests posts I would read, from blogs I don’t follow, too! I did notice the WordPress search bar is a little weird though.

  1. Ooof, I love avocados, they are creamy and can make so many things better. Like make my salads creamier and softer, or a healthy cream substitute for my pasta and bacon-wrapped avocado is sooo good!
I do enjoy outdoor activities although I do complain a lot, cliche but being away from my concrete comforts makes me feel more in tune with reality and puts things in perspective. Why do you hate it?
HAHAHAH LIT IS PRETTY GROSS, when someone uses it non-ironically, I cringe.
I love a wing on others but can never achieve it.
And I love my birkens, they are still the most comfortable slippers everrrr, I keep going back to them because no rubber feels right!

    1. Agh, just thinking of avocado in my salad makes me cringe but, I had never thought to use it in a pasta sauce. That actually sounds like a nice idea!

I don’t get that magical feeling of finding my center or perspective when I’m hiking or camping. All I feel is misery & exhausted LOL.

I am so glad we could at least agree on the word ‘lit’ πŸ˜‚ I used to wear winged eyeliner but it always took me 2 hrs to perfect it so I stopped wasting my time but, even if it was easier for me, I wouldn’t do it nowadays– I’m kind of bored of the look! & oh my gosh, Birkens, lol. Noooo, Cordelia!!!

      1. I have to pre-warn ya, nothing replaces the sweet, savoury taste of dairy HAHA.

        Oh nooo! HAHAHA

I know, every once in awhile I’ll try it but in the 5 years since i started makeup, I’ve never gone out with any eyeliner.

ITS REALLY COMFY, I SWEAR HUNIDA!!!!

        Liked by 1 person

        1. You are so right, there really is no replacement for the taste of real dairy. 😦 & I think it’s been like 3 years since I’ve really worn eyeliner to go out! & I can’t wear them EVEN if they are comfy LOL!!

  2. I have never ever had avocado but I know they are soooo popular and definitely very millennial! Hehe! Maybe I’ll try them one day.. then again maybe not!

The word Lit!! I never use it.. except once! I was talking to this boy I fancied and he complimented me alll the time and I never sent any back because I didn’t know how πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ anyway I ended up sending him a bitmoji saying β€˜UR LIT’ ffs! So funny! But other than that! I do not use that word πŸ˜‚ I use aesthetically pleasing very rarely, only sometimes if I’m describing something in a shop!

I love outdoor activities but I’m not much of a music festival person anymore, I love hiking though and being in nature! I still love wing but again, I also do like a makeup look without a wing so I guess it just depends. I’ve definitely noticed they’re not so common any more and less and less people are doing the winged liner look!!!

I loved this post hun! It was so much fun to read so thank you for sharing ❀️❀️❀️❀️ Love ya!

    1. I know you’re a bit picky with your foods so I wouldn’t suggest trying an avocado but hey, you never know– it could be your new favorite! & that’s so cute you sent him a bitmoji! πŸ˜‚ We’ll say it doesn’t count since you didn’t technically say it yourself, hehe.

I’ve honestly never been to a music festival, they just don’t look appealing to me. πŸ˜› & I keep thinking the eyeliner wing trend is fading but I still see it so often!

Thanks so much for reading, Jennie! I’m so happy you enjoyed it. πŸ’—πŸ’— Love ya too!!

Omg no way! I’ve been to a few but only for the daytime (never camped), now, they so don’t appeal to me either! They are so busy and crowded, plus people throw bottles of piss sometimes too so… it’s a no from me πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

No way! I’m seeing it less! You obviously follow the people who are still super interested πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

You’re welcome hun! Have a great week ❀️

        1. Aw of course ❀ I always try my best to remember whatever I'm told. Especially when they're my friends, like you! ❀ You'll have to let me know what you think of avocados when you try it!

Oh my gosh, stop!! People throw bottles of piss? No way. That's even more reason to never go to one!!

  3. This made me laugh! I do love avocado, (I mean guac come on! ;p ) and while I do hike, if I camp it had better be glamping! :p
I use lit sarcastically (as with most millennial slang lol)
Girl I LIVE in Birkenstock and teva land. I am pretty sure they were created in my home state or neighboring Vermont and oy vey they are SO ugly. I have never owned a pair and never will!
Also agree with you about winged eyeliner. But also New Englanders are famous for their heavy eye liner, so it is something that I always shy away from, because I have been scarred permanently lol.
Something that I am very un-millennial about is pumpkin spice. I do NOT like the PSL. Yuck! ❀

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Lol yay! So happy I could make you laugh. πŸ’— I do admit, guac with crisp tortilla chips CAN be good, but there must be lots of onions & flavors. Def not Chipotle’s. πŸ˜› Glamping actually looks like something I could enjoy, too. I just like relaxing outdoors, not doing strenuous activities, y’know??

LOL! I use some millennial slang sarcastically, too, just to be funny. πŸ˜‚ & I am so sorry you are in Birkens/Teva land but, I am proud to hear you haven’t jumped on the bandwagon. Phew!! πŸ˜‚

I should have just said eyeliner, in general, I’m not a big fan of it applied in any style, really. I didn’t know people were known for wearing it heavy over there! That’s actually so scary– I get why you’re scarred lol. πŸ˜‚

      Ooo, that’s a good one! I do not like PSLs either… 🀒

  4. I love avocados but I know not everyone does like my bf who refuses to eat them…
But I’ve been camping with a few friends before & I HATED it. I liked spending time with them but being in the middle of nowhere for an extended period of time? NO THANKS! Also I’ve been to several music festivals but they were during the summer in Texas so the weather made it really miserable & I’m like is it really worth it? Probably not.
I have never said lit in any context, but I have had said something was aesthetically pleasing before…
Also I never do eyeliner in any of my makeup looks so I agree about the winged eyeliner lol.

    1. Boyfriend & I both refuse to eat avos, it’s a texure thing. πŸ˜›

I am SO glad you agree with me on camping. I think I get looked down on for that one the most. We can all spend time together in a home & it would be much more fun lol. I always thought music festivals would be too hot for me, & I hear people even die a lot because of the weather. 😭 Count me out!

“Aesthetically pleasing” is really a new millennial adjective, I wonder how it got so popular & that’s actually why I love your makeup looks. πŸ˜ŠπŸ’—

      1. I can understand the texture thing like I can’t stand coconut mainly b/c of the texture

Yes spending time together at home is 1000xs better than camping together!

Also how did “lit” get so popular?

Aw thank you so much β™₯️

  5. 🀣❀ love this… I hate avocados too. I don’t mind a day festival as long as it has food– but anything more than an hour and I’m complaining haha. Camping is also out. I haven’t been hiking in awhile but I want to go back soon.

I don’t use those terms either 🀣 and the shoes yes… are absolutely horrible. Right alongside with crocs in my opinion.

The eyeliner is the only thing I disagree… but I only do it on my bottom lids to make my eyes pop. Not the top. Does that make me ahead of the time? And usually it’s not a full winged…

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yay!! So happy you loved this, Demi. πŸ’— Avocados are the worst & hey, if it’s like a fair & there are lots of food vendors– I will be there but, yeah, probably not for over an hour LOL. That’s too much. πŸ˜‚ & seriously, you’ll never catch me camping again! Since you like hiking though, I hope you’re able to go again soon. 😊

Lol I don’t see millennials wearing Crocs much, but gosh, those Tevas & Birkens are sooo ugly & they’re on everyone’s feet. 😭

Whoa, whaaat? That does sound ahead of the times. I’ve never seen anyone do a wing from the bottom lid… hmmm. I gotta see what that looks like!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. I’ll have to send a picture soon. But basically it just comes up around the outer corner… perfectly winged usually. Or maybe it’s just lining πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ who knows what to call it

  6. β€˜..,side smirks and wandering eyes.’ OMG best description ever! I love avos but not on anything other food, especially nothing warm like a pizza or burger 😱 As for Texas and birkies my bloke loves them in summer and *cringing af* with socks. He does get bit ruthlessly by mozzies otherwise though so… I think very chunky, short flicks look so much more bad-ass and flattering.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Lol glad you liked that description πŸ˜‰ those kind of men are really what I think of when I see those shoes– no offense to your bloke. πŸ˜‚ & ugh. I see avos are quite a popular burger topping these days!

I had to look up ‘mozzies’, you are talking about mosquitoes, right? That’s such a cute word for them lol. πŸ’—

  7. I agree with all of these, except I do say lit πŸ˜‚ people who use β€œaesthetically pleasing” kind of annoy me though because I feel like they try too hard on social media. AND their pictures/posts/everything look just like everyone else’s.

  8. Oh my gosh this is too funny! Avo is not tasty on its own, but I must say I do like it just sprinkled with lemon juice, salt & pepper. Or in guac, of course. I def never say β€œlit” either, oh my god! πŸ˜†

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I’ve had a few guacs that I liked but, maybe because I get to dip crispy tortilla chips into it & there is always so many veg & spices mixed in. πŸ˜› ‘Lit’ is such a weird word, it wouldn’t even sound right coming out of my mouth LOL. SO happy you thought this post was funny!! ❀ ❀

  10. I love these so much because all these things are what make each of us unique! You know I love a good avocado toast so I can’t relate there, BUT girl I don’t understand camping! I don’t mind a good hike, but I am not sleeping in the great outdoors. The bugs, the weather…I am open to glamping!

  11. Oh my god, I can’t stand avocados. That’s not because I don’t like the way they taste, but because EVERYONE seems to be obsessed with them. There are so many fruits in the world, why do we all have to be force-fed avocados?

I rather like outside things, though, as you may have guessed!

    Liked by 1 person

  12. Awh, I absolutely love avocados, and I eat them right out of the skin like yogurt as well! I used to eat one every day during my dorm life. I absolutely hate the slang words that are used! I would never say lit, I’m shook, woke, whatever else is involved. I cringe so much when I hear them being used, and I just have a huge dislike for them, haha. I do the winged eyeliner because of the slant of my eyes and I’ve done it so much that it just fits me overall to do! I have never heard of Teavas, but definitely a no-go on the Birks!

    1. Aw it’s okay, I’m totally in the minority with my avocado hate lol. I’m glad we could agree on the silly slang words though! Winged eyeliner is cute, I’m just getting a little bored by seeing it, y’know? πŸ˜› Teavas are even worse than Birks LOL.

  13. Lmao the avocado thing! 🀣 I think it’s an acquired taste. All my life growing up I never cared for it until I started eating with certain foods. Idk lol. For me it enhances the flavor of some foods haha
I dont think I can do camping. But I’m all about hiking!!
I dont think I’ve ever used “lit” and “aesthetically pleasing” either. If I have I must have been cracking jokes.
I LOVE winged eyeliner whether it’s in or out. I especially love JUST doing eyeliner and wearing falsies haha so minimalistic for me πŸ˜€πŸ˜€
So that’s what those shoes are called?? I always thought they were ugly I could never wear them even if they paid me haha
    What a fun post! 😁😁😁

    1. Ah sorry!! I always go on about my hate for avos, don’t I?! Camping is terrible & hiking tires me out & often scares me. I’d rather be in a car, hehe… I’m so glad you don’t use the silly slang words & annoying phrases, either. πŸ˜› & I LOVE your winged eyeliner, I do!! It’s just, the looks with only falsies & no dark liner are a bit more attractive to me lately! & yess, my sister wears the ugly shoes, I HATE them lol.

Thank you, Rossy!! So happy you enjoyed reading. πŸ˜€ ❀

      1. LOL Noo , no worries! I love how passionate you are about disliking the avocados , its cute. πŸ™‚ I could never do camping after hearing horror stories of people experiencing skinwalkers LOL literally just gave me the chills just thinking about it lol
We usually go hiking to nature parks around here that don’t go too far into the wilderness, like there’s trails and signs so you know how far you are walking etc. You wouldn’t ever get lost. πŸ˜‰
Haha no worries about the winged liner either! I don’t take offense to anything you’ve said here, we all like what we like and vice versa πŸ™‚ but I agree, some looks are definitely far more beautiful without the liner, I’ve done those a few times before when I’m doing a bold or colorful look and it looks stunning, I think the liner sometimes distracts or messes up the look underneath. πŸ™‚ but when it comes to ONLY falsies and winged liner, no eyeshadow at all, I’m all about it πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
I also know a few girls who only use falsies and it looks really nice
you are welcome! i am still behind, i will most likely be reading a bit more in the next few weeks since my mom will be in town starting tomorrow, i don’t need to do any extra work for the blog as i already spent the last three days taking photos and filming like four videos LOL

        1. Oh my gosh, I keep hearing about skinwalkers lately. I am so scared to look them up but, I NEED to know what to watch out for! & I totally don’t mind taking a little walk through a nature park with trails & signs. That’s lovely sometimes. I just don’t like the hikes up huge mountains with only footsteps, rocks, & clearings to follow, y’know?

YES! That’s exactly what I mean, when there are such beautiful eyeshadow looks underneath, the liner sometimes ruins it. & I’ve seen that, too! One of my cousins wears falsies all the time, even without makeup.

I am way behind on reading again, too. No worries. I still have to take photos for one of my sub boxes lol. I saw some of your posts that recently went up, I AM SO EXCITED TO GET TO ALL OF THEM!!!

          1. From what we heard from a podcast they did a bit of research and they can take apparently take form of animals or people, to lure the victim closer to them or to the woods. They apparently also look like they dont have any special distinguishing features and they can also imitate voices which is far scarier. And they cant be killed with regular bullets, you have to dip them in white ash or something like that. And if you make eye contact with them they steal your body. Its fucking weird. And apparently even saying the word summons them its creepy as fuck. According to some of the research they also said it is possible that its people who are part of some cult and they do a ritual to become one and all that so that’s even scarier to think that its actual people and not an entity.
Ah yeah I’ve never done those kinds of hikes, I just go to state parks because I like to admire nature and its beauty. Lol
I’m gonna wear falsies tomorrow haha

            Liked by 1 person

            1. I read a little bit about them & tried to tell my boyfriend & dad they’re real but they don’t believe me. I am actually terrified though. What’s the word that could summon them?! Oh my gosh… not just their name, right? Because I said it out loud the other day?! 😭

              Liked by 1 person

              1. Well if people from Indian tribes BELIEVE that they’re real why shouldn’t everyone else?? Seriously. And I meant saying “skinwalker” can summon them. But maybe that’s a broader word. One more thing I forgot to mention is that apparently saying their name makes them go away forever but how would you know their fucking name to begin with???? 😱😱 anyway I’d say were relatively safe. I havent heard stories of them going inside peoples homes it usually all happens outside near the woods, at cabins in the forest etc. They have to be in complete darkness or whatever? I’ve said it out loud so many times I think I’ve said far more often than you so you should be okay lol. Maybe they meant that you’re more likely to summon them or attract them by saying that if you’re in areas where unexplained phenomena is more likely to occur. I don’t think stuff like that has happened in big or small cities. At least none of the stories sound like that.
Uhm anyway, speaking of cities, LA is on fire and I saw that the surrounding area of SF is as well. I’m glad Mackenzie doesnt live there anymore but it’s still very sad. I saw the fire map and it’s like the entire northern part of CA is burning!! I also saw in the same map that theres a fire near Vegas so I hope it’s not to close to you guys or sometbing.

                Liked by 1 person

                1. Oh my gosh, Rossy. I will not even type or say their name anymore. & how could you find out their name without looking in their eyes? OH MY GOSH. So scary!! Another blogger told me that she thinks there could be a lot in my area because of how many tribes & reservations there are around here? I am terrified.

I heard about those fires! Didn’t an actual evil human start them?? That’s crazy. I didn’t hear about the fire around here… hopefully it’s not near me?!

  14. Loved this post and girl you know I’m not a millennial. I love avocados as in guacamole only don’t get this “avocado toast thingy” what’s THAT all about. Don’t go camping. If it’s not a hotel or a hostel no thanks . I used to do the winged eyeliner thing but not too much anymore. Didn’t know Bierkenstocks were making a comeback. They were ugly back then, they ugly now. As for the word lit, I use it but it seems to mean something else now. You used to say “lit” when someone had WAY too much to drink. My friend’s and I still use it that way.”So and so was lit af at the party.”

    1. Yay!! So happy you loved this post, Jo Ann. ❀ I've had a few good batches of guac but, more bad ones to risk trying more LOL. The avocado toast stuff makes me actually gag, I have no idea what those are all about, either.

Right? Relaxing= a real bed & bathroom! Not camping lol. I also used to do the winged liner, too, but stopped wasting my time a few year ago. πŸ˜›

Oh my gosh, you will see Birkenstocks everywhere now, when the spring rolls around again! They are back & EVERYONE is wearing them!

I've heard people use 'lit' in that way, too!!

  15. I love love love avocados lol. BUT I don’t like camping. It’s such a hassle, it’s so expensive, and just not worthwhile in the end lol. I saw a pin once that said, “Camping: Spending a small fortune to live like you’re homeless for a few days.” It’s so true though!

  16. I disagree with #1 because I j’adore avocados! πŸ₯‘ If they weren’t so pricy here in Canada, I would eat them everyday.

As for β€œlit”, it’s not a term in my vocabulary even though I see it as a sticker option Instagram all the time. Quite sure that blunts are a very millennial thing, and they are legal in Canada. I do not smoke so I never understood why Millennials enjoy this kinda thing. Same with music festivals. πŸ˜‚

    1. That’s interesting to know they are pricy in Canada. They are so cheap over here! ‘Lit’ is such a silly word lol but, I’m not sure I agree that blunts/smoking weed is millennial. It has just become legal with our generation but everyone before us, smokes just as much as we do!

Music festivals look like torture to me lol.

      1. Avocados were never cheap here but recently they became even more expensive than they previously were. Our avocados are imported from Mexico and there was recently a scandal involving drugs via avocado shipments. So now every box of avocados that is shipped to Canada needs inspecting, and the price of avocados nearly doubled.

Hm, I wouldn’t really know honestly, since I didn’t grow up around people who smoke weed. The only people I know who smoke weed are Millennials. I just assumed that the popularity skyrocketed after the Prime Minister made weed legal here. Thanks for the clarification!

        1. Wow!! How interesting to know about the avocados. That’s insane.

A lot of my friends’ parents smoked weed & I only realized once I grew up lol. They were just way more secretive about it, I think. πŸ˜›
