October 08, 2019
Hey pals!! ❤ I can’t believe it’s already been a week into October and this is only my first Journal Entry of the month. I changed up my blog header and colors again, this time to be more Halloween-y!! If you have the time, check it out and let me know what you think, please? 🙂 Also, how cute is my new Featured Image?
Last time I wrote, was Sunday, Sept. 29th, so like always– we gotta catch up from where we left off!! Currently, I’m drinking a Coffee Frappuccino with 3 shots of espresso, almond milk, and cookie crumbles on top (my new favorite!!) and I am a wee bit hyper, so sorry in advance for the extra exclamation points!! But, honestly, I always am a little heavy-handed on the Shift+1, aren’t I?! *laughing crying face here*
Alright, alright, let’s settle down now.
On Monday, Sept. 30th, we went grocery shopping at Sprouts. I spent most of my time afterwards writing my Ipsy Glam Bag review and putting together my Monthly Currentlys post, so it was ready on time for Oct. 1st. Boyfriend made us a delicious brown rice bowl with ground turkey and tons of veg. I read some blogs on my Reader and a chunk of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.
At Sprouts, we saw their brand name Spicy Veggie “Chicken” Patties and decided to buy a box. In the front picture, they looked similar to the Quorn ones, that are breaded and oh so, delicious. Sadly, since Sprouts doesn’t carry the Quorn brand, we haven’t gotten to eat them in awhile. We had to see if these could compare.
Oddly, the patties were NOT breaded! We were a bit nervous to see that but, the flavor and the texture weren’t so bad at all. The “meat” was flaky and didn’t smush in my mouth and there was even a tinge of spice! Frozen fake “chicken” patties are usually always better than any frozen real chicken patties you can get– they actually taste more like real chicken… that’s weird, isn’t it? I dipped my sandwich in Frank’s Hot Buffalo Wing Sauce (yum!).
I spent Tuesday, Oct. 1st, almost the exact same way minus the trip to Sprouts.
On Wednesday, Oct. 2nd, I typed up and posted my review for Deserve to Die by Miranda Rijks and answered all the questions to The Ultimate Book Tag that I scheduled for the next day… Thursday, Oct. 3rd.
We were out of groceries so, we got to go out to eat. 😀
We went to Weera Thai, one of our go-to spots.
For our appetizer, we can never pass up on the Shrimp Spring Rolls. The veggies were so fresh and crisp, the shrimp: plump and juicy, and the wrap: perfectly moist and chewy, not at all hard.
Boyfriend got the Pad Ka Pow (stir fried chicken with basil) with white rice. He asked for the highest level of spicy but, was very, very disappointed. We couldn’t even detect a hint of it!
I got me a bowl of Yellow Curry!! I hadn’t had it in so long and was so excited for the thick, creamy broth. Sadly, I was let down, as well. This was way too sweet and did not have enough curry-flavor to it. I ate around a 1/4 and packed the rest to-go… (Admittedly, I never brought myself to reheat the leftovers before they went bad).
When we finished eating, we made our run to Starbucks, got our quad shots of espresso over ice, then came home to finish the rest of my work day routine.
I had a pretty decent night, working from 11:30 PM-almost 3 AM.
Friday, the 4th, we went to Chipotle again!! I got my barbacoa and steak bowl while boyfriend got his chicken and steak bowl (with hard shells on the side). I guess I forgot to take a picture but, I can find an old one from a previous post that’ll look the exact same, hehe… here ya go:
The lady in front of us ordered a burrito and had the Chipotle employee stir everything up with a spoon before wrapping it… I had never seen someone ask such a thing before and I don’t know why, it’s still weighing on my mind (??). Anyways, we went about our day until it was time for me to leave.
Work that night was reminiscent of a busier season. *sigh* I wish it were that way, always. I was very satisfied and so, so grateful.
Naively, I expected the same for Saturday. Maybe I didn’t try hard enough but, man, it was absolutely not my night.
Before work, we went to another one of our favorite spots, Cafe Zupas.
I had to send my sandwich back because it had cheese on it since, I’m an idiot, who forgot to mention to leave it off. So, the picture above only contains my Thai Steak Salad, boyfriend’s Cuban Pork sammy and his BBQ Chicken Salad.
When the sandwich came back to our table, the lady had freakin’ put avocado on it, though I HAD remembered to ask for none of that and the one with cheese had come without it… how could she forget so quickly? Ugh. I was red in the cheeks with anger but, of course, my lovely boyfriend came to the rescue, as always.
I was telling him to just bring it back and get me ANOTHER new one but, he wanted to save us all the trouble. Plus, he could tell I was getting impatient and hangry… so, the freakin’ sweet man of mine, took his bottom buns off with cheese melted on it, and switched it with the bun of MY messed up sandwich, without the cheese so, I was able to eat his Cuban sammy and he just casually ate my gross Turkey one as if it weren’t a problem… EVEN THOUGH, he hates avocados as much as I do??? What did I do to deserve him?? I have no idea but, I already know, I am way too dang lucky!!! ❤
When he picked me up from my horrible night at work, it was a little past 4 AM. We were both wanting some Hash A Go Go breakfast.
I usually get the Chicken and Waffles but, I wasn’t in the mood for anything remotely sweet and my stomach was a bit full. I, somehow, convinced boyfriend to split his beloved Chicken Benedict with me and for the first time, ever, we left with no leftovers. Although, he does usually finish his, it’s mine that we bring home so I can see why he was a bit reluctant to share. 😛
Sunday was such a fun day!! We ran tons of errands and did loads of shopping. 😀 Our first stop was the dispensary and then, we got to go China Town. I needed to pick up some things from the 99 Ranch Market (an Asian grocery store) and Shibuyala (an Asian beauty store).
I was super happy with my buys from both places!! AND with boyfriend for doing his best at not moaning and groaning while following me around. By the end of it, I could totally tell he was getting ready to eat.
We went to Sushi Neko, since it was Sushi Sunday!! We hadn’t been there in forever; we used to recognize every employee but, not one was familiar to us this time.
The food wasn’t bad… it just wasn’t as impressive as it once was. We fear this restaurant is going downhill and no longer cares about quality due to popularity. *sigh* This always happens, doesn’t it??
We skipped dessert at the restaurant because we wanted frapps from Starbucks instead. We went to this fancy one on the way to Walmart. I forgot to take a picture of our drinks but, I did get one of the super nice interior!
At Walmart, the best thing we got was a new 8-piece bed set (so wonderfully comfy and was extremely overdue), we also got 2 pillows (ours were getting pretty deflated), bath towels, cat food and treats, cleaning supplies, and a few other misc. things I needed. It was a very successful trip!!
But, we weren’t done there. We had to make one last stop at Sprouts. They had a $10 off coupon that expired that day so we made it just in the nick of time to use it (woohoo!!).
Finally, we got to go home at just a little past 9 PM. I finished reading Hey Ladies! then, watched the film, A Simple Favor (on Hulu) with boyfriend before bed.
At the 99 Ranch Market, I finally found that spicy ramen that the YouTubers were challenging each other to eat and I could not stop thinking about it– I had to have it for a late-night snack.
I seriously doubted that it would phase me, but boooooooy, was I mistaken. This shit is off the charts.
Yet, my tongue betrayed me and actually ENJOYED the torture. I finished every last bite and even craved more! It somehow still tasted good?! At the end of the cup, I exclaimed, “we gotta go buy more of these!” BUT– sorry if this is TMI– my stomach has NOT been right since I ate it. I am scared to ever have it again and will NEVER be buying more!!
Yesterday, I dealt with the consequences of the noodles for more than half my day. For the rest of it, I read some blogs and a little bit of the book I just started, The New Neighbor by Leah Stewart, I napped as long as I could, boyfriend made us dinner, then we found that The Rap Game has a couple more seasons on the free Tubi app on Roku. Boyfriend and I watched the entirety of Season 02, I took a hot bubble bath, and then it was time for bed.
Today, when I woke up, I was upset to find out my stomach still wasn’t feeling any better– I have not been able to have a full 6 hours of sleep without it waking me up. 😡 Boyfriend cooked a sausage and cauliflower rice skillet that had some cayenne and red pepper flakes in it, he knew I wasn’t feeling well so he went on light on both, but my stomach definitely knew it was in there (yikes).
The bathroom runs aren’t as frequent as yesterday, at least, so I see a full recovery in the very near future. I cannot wait to feel better.
After dinner, we decided to go to Starbucks for dessert again. Hey, boyfriend had to go to the smoke shop anyways. 😉 We both switched our flavors up a bit this time, like I said in the very beginning of this rather long entry, I got the Coffee flavor with cookie crumbles on top. Next time, I’m gonna ask for a tiny bit of the crumbles mixed in, too. It was so delicious!!! And our sweet barista was there, giving us all the discounts. She suggested we get the app but, I tried it once and it confused the heck out of me… someone help? I just told her, “I’ll have to check it out!” like I never have before or something, LOL.
Boyfriend tried the Mocha Cookie Crumble with only 1 pump of chocolate (instead of the standard gajillion) and 3 shots of espresso. He said it was still a bit too chocolaty and there were a lot of those java chips but, otherwise, tasty!!! It looked amazing to me.
When we got home, that’s when I started typing this so I guess that means we’re all done here. I am SO SO excited for all my Ipsys (Ipsies?) to arrive this month, I got the e-mail that they shipped today!! EEEE!!! I can’t wait to share what’s in them with you all. I’ve also got another book review and another Recipe Reviews coming your way later this week so stay tuned, if you’re interested. 🙂
Oh! And, I know I said that I would have a TV Shows review post for you last week but, 13 Reasons Why has been harder to get through than I thought it would be. And no, it’s not triggering me… I’m bored!!! I wanted it to be part of the post but, I may have to watch a different series, putting it off for a little while longer now. I’m sorry!!
I hope you’ve all been having the best October so far! I can’t wait to read all your Blogtober posts! ❤
