September 25, 2019
Hiya babes 🙂 we’ve got quite a bit to talk about today! Even though I wrote last Wednesday, I didn’t catch you all the way up because I didn’t want to rush through my Wicked Musical Review!!
SO, as promised, we’ll start from Monday, Sept. 16th.
Boyfriend and I started our day off with a grocery shop at Sprouts. They had their fall decor out and this cute little area made me feel especially “autumnal.” Our weather hasn’t quite cooled down yet so, it’s hard to feel that way around here, but the festive pumpkins are definitely helping!
Boyfriend cooked up a chicken chili for us when we got home and we ate it while catching up on Big Brother. When we finished, we went to Ross. I knew I needed another Cargo Palette and I wanted to see what this other store had to offer. If you saw my post that night, Beauty Buys #4, you’ll see I hit the dang jackpot over there!
I spent my entire night playing with all the makeup, taking photos of it, swatching and testing formulas, and then, writing my post.
On Tuesday, Sept. 17th… I saw WICKED THE MUSICAL! To say I was only “excited” for this one would be an extreme understatement. In 6th grade, my class did a music concert where we sang “For Good” as the finale. All the lights turned off and a slideshow of me and my classmates were played. I knew there would be memories and emotions stirred when I FINALLY got to hear this song LIVE.
I woke up a little earlier than usual because I really wanted to do my makeup, a simple green eyeshadow I spotted in one of my new palettes was calling out to me (Kai in the You Had Me At Aloha Cargo Palette).
My face looks super white because 1) I used the Ciaté powder for the first time and WAY too much of it… and 2) I never got to put on any blush, bronzer, or highlighter! I may have woke up early enough to start my face but, not finish it. 😦 LOL. Oh well, usually, I go with none at all so I was still proud of what I did.
When I arrived at The Smith Center, the lobby was way more packed than EVER before. There were two souvenir stands when there’s usually one. (The only other time there were two was during Lion King).
The Understudy Board was up and to be honest, it made me feel a little disheartened. I wanted to see the SUPERSTARS, the ones who were MADE for the roles, y’know? But, BOY, was I proven wrong.
I rushed to my seat so I could get a good photo before all the heads came pouring in. The Wicked advertisements have been all over the place so, I knew what the playbill cover would look like but, it still felt special to get it in my own hands.
I, personally, would have preferred that dragon at the top of the stage to be removed. It did nothing for the story– it obscured our view just to breathe out smoke and make loud noises at the right times.
I may be the only one, but, going in, I had NO idea what Wicked was even about. All I knew was that there was a song in there that I LOVED and couldn’t wait to hear. All these years, I have strayed away from ANY and all spoilers of the show because I knew I’d watch it one day.
And you guys, my day finally came, and I was blown away. More amazed than I ever thought I would be.
Beka Burnham, as Glinda, was mesmerizing… how could she be the understudy?! There were TWO other Glindas chosen over her (for different dates) and I just can’t believe anyone could be better. I did detect that her and Elphaba’s (played by Mariand Torres) voices did not mesh well together at all, it caused me to assume that Mariand Torres was cast first and needed a more complementing Glinda?
Elphaba (Mariand Torres) lacked pizazz. Her solo, I’m Not That Girl in Act I, was shaky and her ending to Defying Gravity nearly ruined the iconic song. Always finishing strong and hard doesn’t automatically win my heart or give me those goosebumps– the beginning, what adds up to that, it also needs to be beautiful. I want to be built up, and aching to hear that last note. I just didn’t get that with her. Her voice didn’t move me, and at times, it even irked me. It never truly felt like she was in character either.
04:56 PM-06:18 PM Dinner Break, Frappuccino Run & Smoke Sesh
The most outstanding and surprisingly beautiful singing voice belonged to Elphaba’s sister, Nessarose (played by Amanda Fallon Smith). She never faltered and I only wish there had been more solos sung by her! Fiyero, who was also played by an understudy (Aidan Wharton), was so lovable.
Of course, For Good, was my absolute favorite musical number and I waited the entire show for it so, inevitably, my tears poured out when I finally heard it… Glinda (Beka Burnham), sang every word with so much heart and pure beauty. I was melting and never wanted it to end! And, gosh, just to fangirl even harder over Glinda (Beka Burnham), her I’m Not That Girl (Reprise) in Act II, stole the show. She has my entire heart!
The stage setup and costumes were all absolutely stunning, 100% top-notch. A lot of impressive machines and mechanical work was included but hey, I expected nothing less from such a popular production. The story, the songs, the characters… every single thing about Wicked is phenomenal and it deserves MORE than the hype it already gets.
I will go as far as saying that it is my new #1 favorite Broadway Musical.
Phew! Moving on! The next day, Wednesday, Sept. 18th, I woke up kind of early and wrote my last Journal Entry before signing off to play Sims 4. I did nothing else with my time.
Thursday, Sept. 19th, I went to work so, you probably know the drill. Smoke, eat, Starbucks, smoke, write and publish a blog post, do makeup and hair, smoke one more blunt, drink a couple cocktails and then, off I go. 😛 That night, I didn’t have anymore alcohol at work so, I sobered up by the end. It wasn’t horrible but, the time moved so slow.
By Friday, Sept. 20th, I had no more booze in the freezer and we were completely out of food (groceries and leftovers). It only made sense that we hit two birds with one stone and go to Town Square where there’s tons of food spots AND a Total Wine, all in the same vicinity.
We always hear the Capriotti’s commercials on the radio so it was about time we gave their sandwiches a try.
I went for the Grilled Italian something or other. You can probably tell by the looks of it that I wasn’t the biggest fan. It wasn’t bad or anything but… I wouldn’t choose to go here over any other sandwich shop. Everything just seemed… cheap.
Boyfriend had a Philly Cheese Steak that didn’t really taste like one. We’ve had some really freakin’ good Phillies in the past so, we were highly disappointed with this dry hunk of crap.
At Total Wine, I spotted the BEST apple cider you can find in-stores (nothing beats an orchard).
These babies are MY go-to fall drink! F*** a pumpkin spice latte… heat me up some Martinelli’s Apple Cider, please! ❤ (I’ll even drink it cold but, not preferably).
After Total Wine, we drove-thru Starbucks for our quad shots of espresso over ice, came home, smoked, I wrote and published a blog post, did my hair and makeup, smoked, drank booze, and then, I went in to work. I checked in around midnight and all of my co-workers were already there… I could barely see any customers under all their laps.
The night ended up alright. Boyfriend picked me up a bit past 3 AM and I was hungry as heck, so to Bar Code Burger we went.
We cut the Hangover Burger (no cheese) in half and shared it along with their awesome Bangin’ Wings.
On Saturday, the 21st, we went back to Sprouts and grocery shopped for three new recipes. They have the best deals on the weekend if you have their app! We picked up a BBQ seasoned rotisserie chicken, macaroni salad, and a seafood salad to eat for dinner. There was no way we would have the patience to wait for boyfriend to cook something up.
I got lucky at work and found a non-time wasting client to spend the entire night with. I was only a little butthurt because going into the room, he let me choose the Patrón but, at the end, he wanted to bring it to his hotel! Lol. I know he paid for it but, most of the time, they let me keep it.
Maybe I’m just being spoiled. 😛
On Sunday, since we had already went grocery shopping, we didn’t have to go anywhere all day! Boyfriend made us a hot dog chili “cheese” bake. I know, it sounds gross, but wait until you see it in a future Recipe Reviews. 😉
I wanted to play Sims 4 but, when I turned it on I felt bored and dizzy. I decided to find something on Netflix to watch… I haven’t scrolled through their selection in awhile and found too many things I need to start or catch up on.
Unbelievable caught my eye first and that’s exactly what it was. The title speaks for itself. I watched it until I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore.
On Monday, I woke up around 4 AM, puking my guts out. The night before, while I was watching the show, my PMS cravings and munchies forced me to feed them pizza so I asked boyfriend to go pick us up one from 7 Eleven. It was actually better than you expect, especially for $5. It’s not the first time we’ve had it and neither of us has ever gotten sick.
I don’t blame the gas station. I am worried that I am more than lactose intolerant now… possibly, I’m allergic to it??? Ugh. I don’t know.
I woke up again at 6 AM, with more to throw up… (out both ends)! I have no idea what was wrong with me but, I did realize my Aunt Flo was here to visit. I’ve never thrown up from my period before? Is that normal?
Around noon, I woke up again, finally not nauseated but, definitely with a cramped stomachache…
I went back to sleep to finally feel better around my normal wake up time, 3 PM. I immediately went back to Unbelievable and finished watching the series. I will write a full review on it soon, if you care!
We caught up with Big Brother then, decided it was time to watch the finale of Love Island Season 05! I was not happy about the winners… but, whatever. The couples I root for always get second and/or third place! It’s a curse, really. The only time it has gone my way was Season 01.
I fell asleep during The Reunion episode because I had a roaring migraine. It was only 8 PM so I slept on the couch for a few hours while boyfriend stayed up. When my body started getting stiff and my head STILL didn’t feel better, we went to the bedroom. I just passed out and tried my best to sleep it off but, every time I woke up to use the restroom, my head and eyes pounded harder. I finally gave in around 3 AM and asked boyfriend to give me 2 Excedrin pills. I, then, woke up around 4:30 AM, headache-free and super well-rested. I read a ton of blogs on my Reader and started a new book.
Boyfriend woke up around 10ish and we chatted until we both fell back to sleep. We got up, for good, around 4 PM and had leftover Shrimp Lo Mein that boyfriend made the day before. We saw that American Horror Story: Apocalypse was finally uploaded to Netflix (*shriek!*). We binge-watched the entire series together. We ate lots of cereal, smoked tons of blunts, and went on a midnight McDonald’s run.
Then, I saw Season 03 of Thirteen Reasons Why is up. I fell asleep before finishing the first episode but, bet your bottom dollar, I’ll be watching the rest of it ASAP.
TODAY, I woke up around 11 AM. I read some blogs and a chunk of Deserve to Die (the book I’m Currently Reading). I hopped in the shower around 3 PM while boyfriend got up to go to the dispensary. I took photos of my Ipsy Glam Bag products on the balcony and nearly had a heat stroke. The sun would NOT get off me and it was blazing hot.
When boyfriend got home, we smoked a blunt while I organized a few books onto my different Goodreads shelves then, I hopped onto WordPress to check my notifications. I’ve been writing this ever since minus the small intermission in the middle.
We had dinner, boyfriend made bacon wrapped pork tenderloins with roasted potato spears, and we watched a little bit of Bring The Funny. We’re halfway through the finale episode and are so confused. I don’t think Hulu included every single episode of the season… but, at least we’ll get to see who wins.
I needed caffeine and something sweet. A Vanilla Bean Creme Frapp from Starbucks sounded like the ultimate dessert!!
There was a long line in the drive-thru AND inside– other people were totally reading our minds!! Everyone ahead of us ordered different flavored frapps, too. It must be the weather and all of us holding onto summer.
Anywho, shall I get out of your hair now? I’m off to catch up on my Reader, write a couple drafts for my future posts, and organize more of my shelves on Goodreads.
Have a wonderful rest of your week! ❤
P.S. Did you notice I changed my theme colors and header to match the season? Do you like it?
P.P.S. How annoying is WordPress when they send all your freakin’ comments to spam?! Or does that only happen to me?! Please, check yours… if you got a ‘like’ from me recently, I bet there was a comment attached to it somewhere, too.
