Ipsy Glam Bag PLUS | September 2019

Has anyone else signed up for the Glam Bag Ultimate or am I the only sucker who couldn’t resist? I just can’t wait to see what’s in it! 😀

This month, my regular Glam Bag was delayed, for like the hundredth time. With the $2 upcharge, starting next month, they better stop shipping with DHL and include a bunch of cool, new, expensive brands. We’ll discuss that on a later date, though.

TODAY, we’re here to talk about my September 2019 Glam Bag PLUS!

What Was In My Box?!

Theme: Find Your Light / North Star

Antimatter Lipstick in Midnight

Ipsy’s Description

These beloved Brit purveyors of cruelty-free beauty know a thing or two about going bold. For example, this non-drying lipstick in a universally flattering, classic red swipes with an immediate color payoff. Its vitamin E-infused formula conditions lips for a creamy application.

My First Impressions

The packaging looks sleek and feels fancy. The shade is a true, sexy red and it applied onto my lips effortlessly. Even though the formula feels a bit dry going on, my lips didn’t become at all chapped. I actually preferred it over a moist or silky one. I couldn’t believe there was no transfer onto my cup and it still looked fresh after a smoke sesh. No color bled out of my lip lines and it stayed put forever. It’s been a couple hours; I’m still wearing it now and it hasn’t budged. The swatch on my wrist left a red tint for days, too!

Ciaté London
Extraordinary Translucent Powder

Ipsy’s Description

This ultra-blendable translucent powder from formula-driven innovators, Ciaté London, is finely-milled magic. It glides over makeup for a crease-free, soft-focus finish and locks your look in all day–which is truly extraordinary.

My First Impressions

I was excited to try another setting powder so I opened this right away. Sadly, it settled into my fine lines and really dried out my skin. I’ll stick to my Becca Hydra-Mist and honestly, probably toss this one. 😛

Cruelty-Free? Yes
Retail Value: $22

Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum

Ipsy’s Description

Created by a dermatologist, Murad delivers clinically-driven products that become your skin’s best friend. This high-performance serum features 2.0% hydroquinone to safely fade dark spots, while glycolic acid and vitamin C leave skin shining bright.

My First Impressions

My new giveaway pile has officially started. I won’t be keeping this because I’m already using two Vitamin C products so, I don’t need that right now and I really don’t think I have age spots… YET. That price tag is outrageous though, isn’t it?!

Cruelty-Free? Yes
Retail Value: $72

Ofra Cosmetics
Ofra x Madison Miller Squad Palette

Ipsy’s Description

Multitaskers, rejoice! This three-piece palette collab from Ofra Cosmetics and content creator Madison Miller (a new mama) is all about that to-go glow. Highly pigmented and a cinch to blend, this rosy combo of blush and highlighter creates a lit-from-within look in mere minutes.

My First Impressions

I told Ipsy to step sending me Ofra products because they’re boring (and included way too often) so, of course, instead of the cool Nomad Cosmetics eyeshadow palette everyone else got, I was given this! I’ve only tried the one highlighter, on the very right, and it left me beautifully shiny. Too bad it wasn’t long-lasting! It disappeared, without a trace, in less than an hour.

The third swatch/shade was used below.

Try On

I used the right highlighter pan only.

Cruelty-Free? Yes
Retail Value: $35

Apto Skincare
Antioxidant Mask with Pomegranate

Ipsy’s Description

Backed by top aestheticians, Apto removes fluff and filler to create clean skincare formulas–like this soothing, antioxidant-rich mask. Azelaic acid gently removes dead skin cells, while pomegranate and green tea help calm inflammation and restore balance.

My First Impressions

I can’t bring myself to throw the box out. It’s so cute and it explains the benefits of this mask way better than Ipsy does. It’s meant for the first few weeks after summer ends, to soothe and remove damage caused by the overexposure to sunlight. I will be using it once the weather finally cools down, it’s still constantly sunny out over here!

Cruelty-Free? Yes
Retail Value: $36

Total Box Value: $192

    1. I also have Illamasqua’s lip liners & they were really good, too! The Murad item does look awesome, I just don’t want to speed up my aging process/make age spots appear because I heard that can happen?

  1. Girl, your posts seriously make me want to try a subscription box service 😭…. the Illamasqua lipstick looks so stunning and I’m impressed by the performance. And wow – Murad is such an amazing skincare brand so I bet that Vitamin C product would work super well!

Also, I died inside when you mentioned not wanting Ofra products. 😮 Their Highlighters are some of my utmost favorite… but I def can see how getting too many could be boring!

    1. Beauty sub boxes are so worth it! You can never get brand new makeup monthly for a cheaper price. 🙂 You could always get it once or twice & cancel, too!

The Illamasqua lipstick really impressed me! I couldn’t believe how long it stayed on without fading or smearing. I was excited for the Murad product but I’ve heard that since I don’t currently have age spots, I could create them by using a product that tries to get rid of them. I’m not sure if it’s true but I don’t want to take the risks LOL!

Ahhh, I know a lot of people like Ofra but the brand is just so dang boring to me! The highlighter was pretty but, not at all long-lasting. I wonder if it’s a different formula than the one you use!

  2. You changed up your blog theme, header – looks good! That red lip is super pretty, you were only saying to me recently no lip products stay on well but it sounds like this does 🙂 the Ofra palette is pretty too x

    1. Aw, Chanelle! Thank you for noticing. ❤ I wanted a more Autumn feel to it, I'm so happy you like it!

I totally thought about you when I tried the lipstick. I was like, 'I need to tell her I've found the one now' lol. The Ofra palette is pretty but, not at all long-lasting. 😦

  3. Omg that Illamasqua lipstick looks and sounds amazing! I haven’t tried their stuff before but I’m going to have to put it on my list because it sounds top quality and is Cruelty free!! I neeeeeed!! Also the packaging of that powder is too pretty, what a shame it wasn’t very good 😦 the antioxidant mask with pomegranate looks great too 😍😍 these boxes are so much fun! (Except for the highlight palette from the brand you DIDN’T Want lol). Thanks for sharing beautiful!

    1. Yess! That lipstick was truly impressive! I couldn’t believe how fresh & neat it still looked after a couple hours of wear. 🙂 I hope you like it just as much if you get it!

The powder’s packaging was super cute but, I’m almost tired of Ciaté products– they all look the same! & honestly, nothing of theirs has really worked for me.

The mask does look great, doesn’t it?! I cannot wait to try it!!

I am obsessed with getting these boxes so I’m so glad you enjoy them, too!! ❤ I just don't get why they even ask what brands we don't want if they will still include them, y'know?! Thank YOU for reading, love!! ❤

  4. Ipsy now has a glam bag Ultimate!? I thought the Plus bag looked pretty good!
I don’t think any powder can really top the Becca hydra mist, I just got it with my Boxycharm and I’m in love!
That’s too bad about the ofra palette. I was super excited when Maddison collabed with them but I don’t think I’ll be picking anything up, especially if the highlighter isn’t long lasting.
It’s too bad not everything was a hit this month!

    1. Yes! Oct. will be their first month sending out the Ultimates. They’ll be monthly boxes for $50 with 8 full-sized products & 4 deluxe-sized samples. They’re also including makeup bags with every box, too! I can’t wait to see what it’s like & if it’ll be worth it to just have the one…

SO happy to hear you like the Becca Hydra-Mist!! I may like the finish of the tarte translucent smooth operator a bit more but, it’s too drying & I’m started to like the ‘dewy’ look more & more lately. Nothing beats the feeling of the Hydra-Mist!!

I’ll have to look up Maddison because I’ve never heard of her before! The highlighter truly disappears before I even leave the house.

Fingers crossed next month will be a big hit!!

      1. I guess they’ve gotta compete with boxycharm, I’m excited to read some unboxings!

Hydra mist just feels so nice on my skin! I look forward to using it everyday, I never thought I’d be excited about a setting powder 😄

I love watching her PR hauls every week to see what’s new!

        I hope so too;

        1. Did you see Boxy lifted their prices to allow you to choose an item per month? I mean, now they are charging the same as Ipsy Plus but, people are annoyed about the change.

LOL I feel you about looking forward to putting the hydra-mist on. 😂

I get bored watching PR Hauls but I’ll check ’em out!!

    1. I was really impressed with the lipstick, I actually couldn’t believe how long it lasted & how well it stayed on. It was still easily removed with toner, too! (I don’t know if I’m supposed to put that on my lips but I did lol).

Thank you for confirming that I don’t need the Murad serum, I was like, “Ipsy has my photo & knows my age” so I worried they were trying to tell me something… lol. I hope it will go to someone who really needs it

      Liked by 1 person

      1. I’ve never used toner in my life before so actually I’m not sure if it’s supposed to remove makeup! 😆 But if it works for you that’s great.

It was probably a mistake on Ipsy’s part then. I wouldn’t take it personally!

  5. To be expected from the Illamasqua lippie. I’ve heard nothing but great things about it. I wish I could try it. Also that shade is gorgg!!
Too bad about the Ciate powder. Some people used to rave about some of their products, but sadly anything I’ve tried from them is nothing to write home about lol
Ah man its PUR for Boxy and it seems its OFRA with Ipsy lol. They must have some sort of contract or they bought a lot of bulk lol.
The Apto mask sounds lovely! But what do you do with it after the first few weeks? Do you save it for next year?? Or…?
The value of this box is insane! How much is it again? For $21 you barely get a little more than $120 value from Boxycharm.

    1. Wow, I hadn’t read anything about the Illamasqua lipstick so I was not even expecting it to be so good. I’m super impressed! & yesss, I love the shade, too. ❤

Oh my gosh, I agree about Ciate. I don't understand the hype because I haven't tried anything by them that I've loved either. I'm gonna put them on my "no" list along with OFRA! & It does seem that way with them & Ipsy!! & PUR & Boxy, too! So annoying.

LOL yeah I don't know. I didn't even think of it. I thought we were just supposed to use it until it was all gone once the summer ended?

This box is $25 a month but HEY it started that way lol & they're including makeup bags again in every box. 😀

      1. I had a blogger friend here when I first started, she was like addicted to subscription boxes so she had sp many lol. Anyway when she would get the Illamasqua lippies she always said how great they were and I remember them being positive reviews and lots of people were into them as well. Idk why we havent heard much from them lately. Lol.
Right! I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesnt like Ciate. I thought I was not seeing something in the product, or maybe I was using it wrong. The last product I got from Ciate was a liquid eyeliner and it sucks. It skips and kind of tugs on the skin. It doesnt slide smoothly.
Haha is it a lot of product? Because if it isnt then yeah you might finish it up but if not idk how that would work lol
Ah that’s right $25! Omg I miss the makeup bags the most from Ipsy, honestly. I know some weren’t the greatest designs but with the collection I have, I have one for almost any occasion. I like to use them as clutches sometimes and other times I use them as wallets when I carry my backpacks lol.
I may end up trying other subscriptions boxes again, like only one and just try a bunch of different ones. I just need to get through the rest of the year because all of our birthdays are coming up, along with our niece and nephew, somehow we all have bdays together within 3 months lol. And also Ciel’s bday in Dec, Alex and I’s anniversary from when we started dating (we celebrate that too and our wedding one in Feb, lmao) and then it’s also xmas so it’s a busy holiday season lol. But come January I will have a list of boxes to try and hopefully some people can see what else is out there alongside me haha

        1. Oh that’s interesting to know. All of a sudden I’m hearing a lot about Illamasqua when I never had before. I added Ciate to my “no” list on Ipsy now lol.

The mask is 2 fl. oz. & probably don’t need to use that much so I doubt I’d be able to use it all before summer comes around again. 😂

I know, I just love the bags & seeing what designs they come up with, even if they’re not the best. I use them to store my makeup & also as wallets, too! I love that you use them as a clutch with different outfits!

Wow!! You really have so much coming up!! What a fun time of the year for your family. ♡ I can’t wait to hear all about the celebrations & I can’t wait to see which boxes you try!!

          Liked by 1 person

          1. Yeah probably not.. On the bright side you’ll have some more for next year, if it doesn’t expire or go bad.
I’m not very good at accessorizing my outfits, so the Ipsy bags make it a bit easier if I already have clothes that closely match a bag LOL
Yeah it’s fun but also stressful. It’s too many places to go in such a short time I feel like we constantly have to split our times at each place and it’s exhausting lol

            Liked by 1 person

            1. Ah yeah, hopefully it’s good until next year. I still haven’t used it yet, the sun is still hot during the day but it’s nice & cool at night now. I only carry one purse everyday with every outfit lol. 😛

I hope you don’t get too stressed & exhausted, ❤ Enjoy your celebrations!!!

  6. Ugghh I feel like I should try a subscription service after reading this! It’s like getting yourself a gift but full of surprises 🙂

As for this box, I love that they included Murad in there! I used to use Murad products back when my acne was horrible and it did wonders for my skin. Not sure why I am not using their products anymore.. but maybe I need to pick up a facial lotion by them!

And I agree with you on the Apto packaging, holy cow. I just want to high five their package design team. So cool!

Hope your week is going well so far ❤

    Liked by 2 people

    1. You should! Even if only once. 🙂 It truly is like a gift to yourself & you deserve it!

I keep hearing all the best things about Murad! I do have a sample-sized face cleanser by them I will be using in the future. I’m excited now 😀 So lovely to hear the brand has worked for you!

Lol right?! I’d love to high five them as well. It’s so beautiful! ❤

I hope your week is going well, too!! ❤ Thank you!!

  7. I have that Ciate setting powder! I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you! I like it okay but I find it a little too light so if I try to put the normal amount that I do then I just look weird. There’s definitely powders I like more though so I get it!
