Beauty Buys #4 | September 2019

WOW! I haven’t done one of these posts since November of last year. Usually, I don’t buy many items I pick on my own because I get enough from my subscription boxes. There is so much makeup out there, it’s hard for me to choose for myself and, to be honest, I like getting a discount. Which is WHY when I do pick out my own beauty items, a lot of the times, I go to Ross Dress For Less. I seriously hit the jackpot today so I have to show you what I got right now!!

Cargo Cosmetics
Eyeshadow Palettes x2

Chill in the Six

You Had Me At Aloha

I Paid: $7.99 each
Retail Value: These specific palettes are no longer available on their website but, the same sized ones are $34

Yesterday, I went to the Ross nearest me but, they didn’t have much. I did find the Chill in the Six Palette over there, though, and I even spotted two palettes from theBalm (who are popular but, I’m not personally a fan of), it was what initially set off my beauty shopping spree. I had this urge, telling me I needed to see what they had at the other Ross, just a liiittle bit further away.

And that is how I found everything else I’m about to show you!! I couldn’t believe how much high-end makeup they had. They were mostly all packed in plastic security boxes that can only be taken off at the register, too. How amazing.

Chill in the Six Swatches

Top to bottom: Yonge St., Maple, Blizzard, Ice, Arctic, 1996, Dundas St.

You Had Me At Aloha Swatches

Top to Bottom: Luau, Lei, Tiki, Kai, Island, Hibiscus, Shaka, Shell

Bite Beauty
Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick in Chiffonade

I Paid: $4.99
Retail Value: $24 (currently on sale at Sephora for $12)

There was a Clinique and an Estee Lauder lipstick, a Pacifica lip balm, a whole pack of theBalm lip tints, Honest Beauty’s Lip Crayon, Smashbox’s metallic lippie, Kat Von D, Smashbox, Buxom and Bite Beauty liquid lips. Bite Beauty’s lip liners and Amuse Bouche Lipsticks were also available.

I nearly had a heart attack! I could’ve bought every single different shade of everything but, phew! I narrowed it down to only two lip items eventually. Since I already have one of Bite Beauty’s Amuse Bouche Lipsticks and know they’re awesome, my first choice was their Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick. I had to try it! I’m not sure how I feel about the shade I chose and the formula takes forever to dry and got all over my teeth. 😦

Honest Beauty
Lip Crayon Sheer Lush in Raspberry Kiss

I Paid: $3.99
Retail Value: $12.99

The second lip product I chose was Honest Beauty’s Lip Crayon, it was the only one there and I’m lucky it was such a cute color! I know the Clinique and Estee Lauder ones would have been such a steal and they probably both have amazing formulas but, I couldn’t do that to the animals!! I made sure everything I bought was CRUELTY-FREE. πŸ˜€ ❀

Ecotools
Sheer Powder & Sheer Finish Blush Makeup Brushes

I Paid: $3.99 (Sheer Powder) & $2.99 (Sheer Finish Blush)
Retail Value: Their indvidual brushes range from $7.99-$9.99

I can’t find these exact brushes on their website. They must have been discontinued?

Moda Brushes
7 PC Beautiful Eyes Flip Kit

I Paid: $6.99
Retail Value: $19.99

I admit, I was sad not to get the MODA brushes that Boxycharm included in their box this month so, imagine my joy when I found their 7 PC Beautiful Eyes Flip Kit on the shelf. On Royal Brush’s website, this very set is available, but named without the word ‘Flip’ for some reason, it’s just 7 PC Beautiful Eyes Kit.

BH Cosmetics
Zodiac 25 Color Eyeshadow & Highlighter Palette

I Paid: $8.99
Retail Value: $27 (currently on sale at BH Cosmetic’s website for 50% off – $13.50)

I remember Britney (@Surrealistique) recommended BH Cosmetics to me awhile back and she had posted a few hauls from them so when I saw this gorgeous Zodiac Palette, I knew I had to buy it. I don’t usually go for the bigger sized palettes like this but, I couldn’t resist the fun theme and shades! I love how each zodiac sign was assigned both a metallic shade and a matte one. There were two other tempting BH Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palettes on the shelves and I, now, regret not buying them after touching the formula. Both the metallic and matte shades feel super soft, not at all dry, and all of the swatches I tried came out so beautifully pigmented— I was actually stunned.

Swatches

From top to bottom: Capricorn metallic, Sagittarius metallic, Scorpio metallic, Capricorn matte, Sagittarius matte, Scorpio matte

I also strolled through Ulta last week-ish to pick up a couple essentials:

Real Techniques
Miracle Complexion Sponge

I Paid: $5.99

The prices are different wherever you buy it and I actually saw one at Ross for a dollar off… 😑 This is my all-time favorite sponge.

Thayers
Alcohol-Free Witch Hazel Facial Toner in Rose Petal

I Paid: $10.95

Thank you to Rossy (@AyRGalaxy) for sending me a sample of this on my birthday, I can no longer live without it so I got the full-sized bottle!! Any bumps, pores, or red marks that are visible on my face, instantly get smaller and less noticeable after toning with Thayers. It feels so calm and refreshing, I’ve never felt irritated by it in any way and my face feels SO freakin’ soft now. Other toners I’ve tried have done nothing for me.

Alright, that’s it for now. πŸ™‚ What did you guys think of everything I bought? Do you ever shop at discount stores? What’s the best product you’ve ever found on sale? Do you have a favorite facial toner? Which team are you on: Real Techniques or beautyblender?

  1. I love, love, LOVE getting discounts and usually (mostly) get my makeup from my subscription box too. If I do buy makeup though, it is either from a discount store we got here, or sephora’s sale selection πŸ˜‚
The zodiac palette is Both cute and stunning- I might have to get that oneπŸ™ˆ

    1. I don’t like a sponge for foundation either, I only use it for concealer (which I don’t like a brush for, lol). The Real Techniques one is quite nice!! Hope you like it if you do try it. πŸ™‚

    1. I couldn’t believe how nice the BH Cosmetics shadows felt! I can’t wait to actually try it on my lids. πŸ™‚ The Honest Beauty Crayon was so cute & I loved how it felt on my lips but I didn’t wear it for long before wiping it off!

  2. Wow you got so many amazing buys – I’ve seen the Cargo Palettes at Marshalls, but had no clue what the inside looked like! And OMG that is incredible that you found a BH Zodiac Palette!!

I’m jealous that you found Moda Brushes, as they’re some of my favorites! I really like the fluffy tapered crease brushes from the brand.

I used to be all about the beauty blender and I do still feel they’re the best sponge out there, but I enjoy the real Techniques sponge too … so hard to beat for the price tag! I just picked up a couple of ecoTools sponges from Ulta too though because they’re supposed to be more sustainable… so we’ll see how I like those! ☺️

    1. I looked up the Cargo palettes on my phone when I was in the store so I really thought they were going to be good but, the mattes didn’t swatch the very best. πŸ˜› I hope they perform better on my lids/with a brush. I was excited to see the BH Zodiac Palette, I knew I had to get it!! It is SO pretty & big lol.

I’ve only tried Moda’s face brushes, that Boxy sent me, so I was sad when I saw they included some of their eye brushes in this month’s box after I already canceled my sub because I wanted to try them! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it at Ross. πŸ˜€

I like Real Techniques because it works fine when it’s dry but the beautyblender absolutely needs to be wet… at least for my skin to feel comfortable. Ecotools seems like an amazing brand, I hope you like the sponges!! I didn’t know they made them!!

  3. Hunida!! Girllll you really did hit the jackpot! I had no ideas Ross sold makeup!! Where have I been!?! I love everything you got and want to try it for myself, especially that BH Cosmetics palette! Thanks so much for sharing!

    1. They sell so much makeup, it’s all just usually in a mess so you have to search deep for all the good stuff lol. The BH Cosmetics palette was a lot better than I even expected, if you see it, you should totally pick it up!

      Thanks for reading, Toya!! ❀

    1. I’ve never really been able to find such awesome products at Ross before, I was shocked! I’m so excited about the brushes & the BH Palette. I wish I chose a different shade of the Bite Beauty lippie but, the Honest one was really nice. πŸ™‚

  4. Oooh you found palettes very nice! And I’m shocked they had Bite Beauty there! Whoa!! May have to check the stores near me lol
I would have taken advantage to get the eco tools brushes as well they’re so good!!
Moda brushes are also really really good.
Oooh the zodiac palette! So pretty!
Yay I’m so glad to hear that you liked the thayers rose toner. I’ve run out of mine so I need to make a trip to the store to buy it again. May end up getting the lavender one instead to try it too lol
Such a great little haul! I’ve been buying stuff lately too but I’m not done just yet I still need a few more things I’m running out of lol

    1. Yes, girl!!! Go now!!! There was SO much Bite Beauty. Their lip liners, liquid lips, lipstick, all of it. I also saw an entire Ecotools brush set for like $15 but, I just chose the two because I wasn’t sure if I’d like them! I was surprised to see the Moda brushes, I sure hope they’re good. πŸ™‚

The Zodiac palette is gorgeous. I can’t believe it.

I absolutely love love love that toner. It does wonders for my skin, thank you so much. I can’t say it enough!! Let me know if you like the Lavender. I saw a Cucumber one, too!

Ooo, I hope you’ll show us what you got when you finish buying everything. πŸ˜€

      1. I haven’t gotten the chance to go we are trying our best to save some money at the moment lol. But I will be splurging on some furnishings for the home haha
I still need to go to target for my toner and a night cream. I literally havent had the chance to go anywhere except for groceries and today I spent all my day cleaning I’m wiped out!! 😩

        Liked by 1 person

        1. Totally understand! Home furnishings will be fun to buy. πŸ˜„ Are you gonna buy the Thayers toner or try something new? What kind of night cream do you get? Lol. Sorry I have so many questions all the time!

I’m sorry you had to clean all day. I fell asleep at 8 PM with the hugest headache now it’s 4 AM & I’ll prob be up for the day. 😭 It’s too early!!

          Liked by 1 person

          1. Yes I went two days ago to target and got some extra goodies. This time I decided to buy the lavender toner, hopefully I like it. And I also got the elf night cream, which I had gotten last year, but the packaging was different this time and it was also $2 more?? So I was confused… I’ll have to check if I kept the packaging of the old one and see if it’s any different or not. And no worries about asking me questions, you know me I’m a fucking chatterbox I can never shut the fuck up LOL it’s one reason my comments are endless XD
I actually like cleaning sometimes, its therapeutic somehow haha. It also pleases me to see a clean house and everything organized. I live with only boys, CL, Alex, my brother, and Alex’s brother, so being the only woman I feel like I’m the only one who cares about keeping the place clean lmao.
Awh I hope you were able to get some more sleep! It’s nearly 12am here and I’m still not in bed. And Ciel has school tomorrow!! T_T And on top of that I gotta be up early tomorrow LOL

            1. Let me know about the lavender toner! I wonder if the different scents make it work differently? I feel like every.single.thing is raising in price… it’s crazy. It’s probably all the same still though!

LOL ok good, I love that your comments are long & I just enjoy chatting with you so much. ❀

I hate cleaning. Oh my gosh, Boyfriend just tidied up the entire place yesterday. I am so thankful LOL.

I did take a little nap after awhile, yay πŸ™‚ I hope you got to sleep soon after you left this comment!!

  5. Omg what a freaking steaaaal!!! The chill in the six palette is so up my alley right now, I love that icy cold vibes! And honest beauty!!!! The lippie looks so jumbo, very nice! Wow, Thayers sounds amazing! I keep contemplating whether to get it or not because I’m afraid it wont work for me (because it seems mediocre for some people).

    Liked by 2 people

    1. I know! Ross seriously has the best deals. I don’t even get how they can sell the makeup for so cheap.

The Chill in the Six palette is perfect for the upcoming Winter, isn’t it? I love the icy look, too.

I thought of you when I picked up the Honest Beauty lippie. It’s so cute & yes! Jumbo!

You need to try Thayers. I’ve actually not read a bad review on it! I’m surprised that you have, to be honest, it’s that good lol.

  6. Looks like some good finds!! I recently bought the Thayer’s witch hazel in cucumber from Amazon. I got it in a spray bottle because I heard it was good at neutralizing arm pit stink? Something about pH, but I am happy to hear that it works well as a toner for the face too! Thanks for sharing love!

    Liked by 2 people

    1. OOh, I saw the cucumber one in Ulta, too, but not the spray. I hadn’t heard of it helping your pit stink though, whoa, that’d be a game changer. Please let me know if it works for you! Thanks for reading, Jess! ❀

  7. I love discount stores especially Marshalls and Tjmaxx! I’ve stayed away for a while since we’re getting married and we had to save up, but when I do go it’s always a treasure hunt! That amuse bouche lipstick makes me sick though! The scent is so strong and like you mentioned, it never dries down! Anyways, thanks for the post!😁

    1. The TJ Maxx by me shut down but there are 3 Ross & 1 Marshalls within 10 miles lol. I can’t stay away! The Bite Beauty Liquid Lip does have a sweet, sickly scent. I noticed that when I applied it but not too much while it was on my lips. I didn’t wear it long at all though because it would NOT dry. Glad to know it wasn’t just me lol.

Congratulations on your soon-to-be wedding!! Thank you for stopping by!! ❀

  8. Omg Hunida I freakin’ love that Bouche lipstick shade on you! It looks so good girlie! 😍😍😍😍😍 serious!!!!! I love!!!! And that zodiac palette looks so much fun- I love how it’s got shades for each different star sign!! 😍 such fun! I’m a Capricorn! What are you? Also that toner sounds really good!! I’ll definitely have to pick one up when I get the chance! They’re not CF but the best toners I’ve tried are the L’Oreal and Sisley Paris ones 😍 both so good!!! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty!

    1. Oh my gosh, I don’t know, Jennie!! The lipstick was a bit bright… maybe you would change your mind if you could see my whole face with it?! πŸ˜›

I am also in love with the Zodiac palette, it’s amazing & so fun with each sign having two shades! I actually never knew you were a Capricorn– I’m a Gemini! ❀

Try the Thayers toner, it works so many wonders!! Thank you for sharing you fave toners with me, I wish all brands could be CF!! ❀

  9. OOooohhh I have been thinking about trying Thayers witch hazel for a while now… so tempted to run across the street and buy it now!! As for all of your other beauty haul items it looks like you really hit the jack pot!! I love the palettes you picked out.

Loved this post! You should do a beauty review post on a few of these items as well πŸ™‚

    1. Lol, seriously, I wouldn’t blame you for going to get the Thayers toner… it’s that good! & I just couldn’t believe how much stuff Ross had for so cheap, I feel like I really did hit the jackpot!

    1. Yeah, I had got a bunch of beautyblender sponges for free so I had been using them for awhile. I’m on my last one but, so excited to be back to RT. πŸ™‚ I used one of the Cargo palettes yesterday & soo agree about the shimmers, they’re gorgeous. ❀

      Liked by 1 person

    1. I’m so excited to be back with the RT Sponge & the shimmers in the Cargo palettes are really pretty & easy to apply but I’m having a little issue with the mattes. They need more help than I have patience for lol. Are there Ross stores near you?!

  10. Oh my, what gorgeous eyeshadows palettes!! I remember when Britney blogged about that one too, it was so pretty!
I have used EcoTools blending sponges, but not their brushes. What do you think??
Ooh the Thayers witch hazel toner!! I think you guys have convinced me to try it now, haha! XD

    1. She always told me about how good BH Cosmetics was & she was not kidding!! The palette is so good. I didn’t even know that EcoTools made blending sponges & I have only used one of the brushes, it’s kind of pokey but works quite well lol.

I won’t talk any more about the toner, you know my thoughts!
