Hi beauty babes! I know I am so late with this but, Boxycharm not only gave me what was included in their August box, they also gave me TWO free gifts from July’s box so, I had a lot to try!

I cancelled my subscription in July and really planned to stay off and away from it… UNTIL, I saw a spoiler for one of the products. I wanted the Becca Hydra-Mist Powder so bad, I already knew I was going to give in and re-subscribe when I saw it AND THEN, they sent out an e-mail saying that all new subscribers, along with those who cancelled before July (me!!), would receive the two free gifts… at that point, I couldn’t NOT get it, y’know?!

Hydra-Mist & Refresh Powder

Boxycharm’s Description

This weightless powder sets and refreshes makeup for a silky smooth, invisible finish. Formulated with 50% water and glycerin, this powder creates a mist-like sensation on the skin, for a seamless finish and comfortable feel.

My First Impressions

I read that there is a translucent and a tan shade but, I don’t know if they have names because I don’t see one on mine. I’m preeeetty sure I got the tan one? Not positive though…

Like I said, I wanted this so bad, but only because I love setting powders. I didn’t even know it contained magic. When I first applied it, I thought my brush was wet and immediately threw it for a different one but, then… the next one was wet, too! Even though I tested the brush on my skin right before putting the powder on it and it had been completely dry… I still sat and thought to myself for a little bit, like, how did I get water in my brush bag?!

The name ‘hydra-mist‘ and the ‘50% water‘ claim finally came back to me so, I caked it on my face because it felt amazingly cool and refreshing!! It also leaves me with a dewy finish that I didn’t even know I’d love. I totally see the difference in how my makeup looks after I set my face with this.

My First Impressions

I haven’t used this yet because I’m so confused when to add it in my routine. Before or after moisturizer? Under makeup? Or only before bed? Someone help.

Big Ego Mascara in Black

Boxycharm’s Description

An ultra-black, vegan mascara that lifts your lashes and delivers a fully-loaded flutter for up to 16 hours.

My First Impressions

The wand was quite intimidating, fat and large so, I applied it slowly, with a very light hand. The formula wasn’t too wet (like their Lights, Camera, Lashes one), it was easy to build up without clumping and drying. It gave my lashes length and a bit of volume, leaving me with a soft, feathery look. With or without concealer on my undereyes, though, it does leave small smudges after an hour or less of wear. *sigh*

Ace Beaute
Glimmer Shadow Duo in Huckleberry & French Vanilla

Boxycharm’s Description

High pigmented soft shadows with a creamy texture specially designed for the ultimate color pay-off. These shadows provide bold color in one swipe without fallout, creasing or fading.

My First Impressions

In the pan, the formula felt a bit dry, more like a regular matte eyeshadow. I was expecting a ‘creamy‘ texture since, that’s what they claim to be. For my swatches, I cheated a little bit, and did two swipes for each because I thought maybe it needed to be heated up with skin contact to work properly… they actually turned out pretty nice.

With a fluffy eyeshadow brush, these will not pick up!! I swirled and swirled, and got nothing!! With the shade, Huckleberry, I applied it onto my clean lid. Nothing but moisturizer beforehand. I used my finger and had to pack it on about ten times. For French Vanilla, I put my concealer on my lids and undereyes first. It was much, much, much easier to get the color to actually show up, taking me only about two or three swipes. It looked smoother and brighter than Huckleberry, by a lot.

Butter London
Natural Goddess Eyeshadow Palette

Boxycharm’s Description

Serving Queendom realness, bring out your inner goddess in Butter London’s vibrant Natural Goddess Eyeshadow Palette! Enchant with six highly pigmented, long-lasting shades. Whether you’re feeling like a diva or a temptress, these cruelty-free shadows pair effortlessly to create imaginative looks that will make a powerful entrance.

My First Impressions

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Natural Goddess is the perfect name for this palette. The color story is mystical and enchanting; I lovelovelove the shade names and the packaging is the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen!

The swatches turned out well, especially for the sparkly/shimmer ones. Temptress and Femme Fatale were a bit patchy but, I can see them blending and applying better with a brush on the lid.

I used Diva one night, in replacement of my Urban Decay single, and it was easy to apply. It looked nice and blended flawlessly. Sadly, I noticed a deep crease in the middle of my lids, that looked a bit oily, at the end of the night. I’ve never had that problem before so, it had to be the eyeshadow.

Gaea 3 Piece Brush Set

Boxycharm’s Description

Create the perfect look with your new, eco-friendly Luxie brush set. Apply foundation with the Luxie S10 foundation brush, blend your eyeshadow with the Luxie 250 Large Eye Blending brush and precisely apply color to your crease with the Luxie 246 Precision Crease brush.

My First Impressions

Well, I thought the Butter London’s Natural Goddess Palette (above) had the prettiest packaging UNTIL, I saw the handle of these Luxie brushes. PINK WOOD?! Oh my. I had huge *heart eyes* right away.

I have used all three already, and my favorite is the Large Eye Blending 250. It’s suuuper soft and fluffy! It picks up and blends eyeshadow like a dream. The Foundation 510 is kind of fun, it makes me feel like I’m literally painting my face but, I prefer something bigger like the Sigma or the IT Cosmetics ones I have, just because they get the job done way faster. The Precision Crease 246 is exactly what it says in the name. It is more than precise. Use it for a straight line with eye liner, lip liner, eyeshadow, whatever!

Okay, okay that was my LAST Boxycharm for awhile. I hope I don’t fall for any of their spoilers again anytime soon! This one was soooo worth it though and it’s terribly tough when each month, their boxes are only $21, and comes with products that way over exceed that. Are you subscribed to Boxycharm? What did you think of the products I got for August?

    1. Okay, I’m gonna try it that way! Thanks for the tip, Chanelle. ๐Ÿ™‚ The Becca powder is amazing & the tan color is working for me when used lightly but, a co-worker did mention I looked “extra tan” one day, so maybe I shouldn’t cake it on LOL.

  1. I have an illuminating serum that I apply before bed and before moisturizing in the morning, but since this is an oil, I think it would be applied after moisturizer!

I love Luxieโ€™s brushes so much! And those potted shadows look nearly identical to ColorPop Super Shock Shadows… except CPโ€™s SSS are very creamy! I will say that the CP formula applies best with a finger or a super flat brush!!

Your Boxycharm unboxings tempt me sooo much – like I donโ€™t do subscriptions, but after reading so many of your unboxings Iโ€™d be lying if I said these didnโ€™t make me want to try out Boxycharm lol!

    1. Ugh, I wish the tube just said when and how to use it lol. It only talks about what it does for you so thanks for your tips!! ๐Ÿ™‚

The Luxie brushes are some of my favorite, they are sooo soft but yeah, the potted shadows weren’t the best. I def wanna try CP SSS though, it seems like a lot of other brands are trying to mimic that a bit.

I rarely buy makeup outside of my subscriptions, I feel like I don’t need to & always think, “oh what if I get it in a box?” so in the end, it helps me save money. I have so much items to use & not an urge to buy more either. You should try Boxy!

    1. Ugh, it’s so upsetting when they throw junk in the box like that! They know no one wants it & it only costs freakin’ $7 in the first place. I feel like Boxycharm ALWAYS throws in one bad item! LOL glad I could make you laugh though. ;D

    1. LOL I really don’t want it! A black pencil liner? Come on, right? Otherwise, it was a really good box this month! & it’s just so hard not getting something in the mail after getting them monthly, isn’t it?

  2. I have been using the illuminating oil after toner and before moisturizer. It does look kind of nice up close, not too shimmery so its nice for wear without makeup.
We’ve talked about the powder already. One of my favorites in this box!
That’s too bad you had some trouble with the shadows, I was trying to be conservative and not use so much of them on my eyes because they looked VERY pigmented when I swatched them.
Awh yeah that eyeliner doesnt look like much. I’m kind of glad I got the lip liner instead. Its not the creamiest but it’s still pretty good
Ah so the two bonus items were the palette and the brushes? so neat! The brushes are so damn good

    1. Have you noticed any difference in your skin yet? Is there a scent to it? Nice to know it is shimmery!! & yess, I think the powder is my fave product from Boxy, ever! Did you like the Ace Beaute shadows? I feel like throwing them away… they looked so terrible on me by the end of the night. The eyeliner was whack lol!! I would so rather have had the lip liner. ๐Ÿ˜›

Yeah, the palette & the beautiful brushes were the free gifts!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. What a great box!!! I have a mini of the translucent Becca powder and it is great! Those Luxie brushes look so nice too! I love your reaction to the liner! ๐Ÿ˜‚ I cancelled my Boxycharm a while back and I always watch the sneak peeks to see if I want to grab that monthโ€™s box.

    1. I was really happy with mostly everything in this box except the eyeliner lol! The powder & brushes are probably my top favorites. ๐Ÿ™‚ I am keeping my eye on the Oct. spoilers, too! I just get worried if there’s something really good, the box will be sold out & I won’t be able to get it.

      1. I almost caved for this month because I want the too faced face palette, but I decided against it because I knew it was a variation and I wasnโ€™t guaranteed to get it. Plus I have had to put some money into my car so I havenโ€™t had any money to spare for makeup.

        1. That Too Faced palette looked so pretty & I wanted to try the Violet Voss eyeshadow, too, I just really didn’t want the Tarte one & knew that would probably be the one I got LOL. SO sorry you are still having to put money into that dang car, we are having minor issues with ours again, too. It’s the worst!!

          1. It is the worst!!! I replaced the transmission right after the first of the year.. now I had to replace the front brakes and rotors… and in a few weeks I have to go back in and get the rear wheel cylinders replaced! Itโ€™s insane! Hopefully after that I will be done putting money into the car for a while at least! ๐Ÿ˜‚

  4. That setting powder sounds incredible! Rossy talked about that one too and it really does seem like magic!!
Lol I would use that eyeliner! Do you just not like it because it’s kind of a boring choice for a subscription box?
That eyeshadow palette is dreamyyyy! Wow, so so so pretty! And those brushes! The whole box was worth it just for those!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yes oh my gosh, I thought my brush was wet until I used two different ones & felt the same sensation! Crazy crazy stuff!!

Oh MY GOSH, I’m sad I didn’t put that eyeliner in your box now. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I hate anything that needs to be sharpened & yes, it’s quite boring for a sub box, it’s like they do it on purpose lol.

The palette & brushes definitely made the box worth it. Soooo pretty, right?! โค

      1. That formula for the powder sounds incredible! I have no idea how it would do that, but wow! I agree, it sounds like magic.

Lol that’s okay! I actually always use the eyeliner pencils that need to be sharpened. I’ve never liked that ones that are retractable oddly enough lol. But you’re right, it’s boring for a sub box!
