CURRENTLY IN BEAUTY
My buddy, Rossy (@AyRGalaxy), sent me the cutest package for my birthday (thank you again, babe!!!) and it included my favorite Superhero Mascara by IT Cosmetics in Super Black. My Il Makiage one only recently dried out so I’ve just opened this and have fallen in love all over again. It’s annoyingly flaky during application but, I will deal with it for the effect it has on my lashes and the minimal smudging throughout the night.
Rossy also included Dr. Bronner’s Naked Organic Lip Balm and I’ve been using it ever since. It is so soft and smooth. There’s no offensive scent and it keeps my lips pretty hydrated.
Surprisingly, even more hydrating than any balm is the Dominique Cosmetics Lemonade Lipgloss in Peach Tea. I, luckily, received it in my June Boxycharm. It’s so girly and cute!! Not super long-lasting but, it does wear off gracefully. It doesn’t stick to your hair and you never even notice it’s on your lips. There’s a little bit of shine and a tiny bit of color. I love it so much!!
The biggest shock of the century is that I’m using a new concealer!! In all of my years of wearing makeup, I’ve bought NOTHING else besides Tarte’s Amazonian Clay 12H Waterproof Concealer. When I saw JOAH, a K-Beauty brand, for sale in CVS, I decided to pick up TWO different concealers (I haven’t tried the other yet). To my utter shock, the Wand Me Up Concealer has been working beautifully and it’s even more full coverage than my beloved Tarte one. I bought the shade Sand— I can make it work but, it’s a bit light. I may go one darker next time.
In hopes of clearing my breakouts, I’ve dug out my Malin + Goetz Grapefruit Face Cleanser sample. The scent is refreshing and citrusy good. I actually notice my skin getting brighter and cleaner after each use.
For my nails, I picked up Essie All-in-One. The brush is a bit too skinny and the formula isn’t as thick as I’d like but, it dries quickly and definitely does its job as a top coat. I haven’t removed my nail polish yet so, I don’t know how it has done as a base and my nails are short so I can’t tell if the strengthening part is true yet, either.
For color, I’ve got on JLB Cosmetics Nail Lacquer in Lola. I bought a huge pack of these mini nail polishes from Ross around Christmastime last year. The formula dries quickly and lasts awhile before chipping, the only con is that you need quite a few layers before it’ll become completely opaque.
CURRENTLY IN LIFETSYLE
I never thought the few extra bucks would be worth it for The Honest Co. Baby Wipes but, they are the perfect thickness, they glide and clean easily, and they don’t leave you too wet. I’m never turning back. I use less to get the job done, so, in the end, I’m probably spending the same.
I’ve seriously misplaced around 4 or 5 different water bottles this year (so far). My last one was rather spendy so, when I saw this super plain one at Starbucks for only $4, I was like… “I need that, that’s what I deserve.”
When we were in Minnesota last month, boyfriend’s mom gifted us with all kinds of things including about 10 sticks of this Right Guard Sport Antiperspirant Gel in Fresh. I decided to try it and it’s working alright. I still sweat through it after I drink too much espresso though.
For flower, I’m smoking Lee Roy TK, an Indica-dominant hyrbid by Summa.
My phone theme is this fun watercolor one called, WaterColoredUX by Saurabh Gupta.
CURRENTLY IN FOOD & DRINKS
I can’t stop buying Kicking Horse Kick Ass Dark Ground Coffee. It’s silky and velvety going down and wakes me right up. Sometimes, I can be a “don’t fix what ain’t broken” type of person!
I’m actually eating a slice of this freakin’ awesome Vegan Chocolate Blackout Layer Cake by Rubicon Bakers as I type this!! I’ve had about two (big) slices a day since I bought it and oh my gosh, it is moist, soft, chocolaty and tastes BETTER than a cake filled with dairy. I usually HATE frosting, of all kinds, but this one I could eat plain if you asked me to. It’s really THAT good.
Pamela Creamery Aged Nutcheese Alfredo in Rose was phe-nom-en-al, even compared to a real Alfredo. I could totally taste the booze and it had that traditional creamy, cheesy flavor. The consistency was rather thin and there was an unfamiliar sour tang but, I would ten out of ten recommend this to any of my fellow dairy-free people! I will warn that there was a very pungent smell when opening the jar, almost like spilling fish sauce all over yourself… fortunately, it cooked away right as it went into the hot pan.
Boyfriend was very wary of this Dark Pumpernickel Rye Bread but, it’s probably one of my favorite loaves we’ve tried! We continue buying it every time we stop in Albertsons.
I had tried Divvies Java Chip Minis before and LOVED them so I went for the Chocolate Brownie ones this time… and guess what? I also LOVED them. They were simple, chewy, and delish!
CURRENTLY IN ENTERTAINMENT
I am keeping up with Season 21 of Big Brother. I can’t really decide who I want to win but, I know for a fact, NOT Christie… I’m pretty invested this year so I’ll try to watch until the very end instead of quitting halfway. 😛
I talk about it constantly so you all know I’ve been watching Love Island (UK) Season 05 on Hulu and the FIRST Season of Love Island (US) on CBS. I actually am impressed with the US version, I’ve enjoyed it ALMOST as much as the UK’s but, ehhhh, not quite!! It was more rushed and staged.
I’m two episodes behind on Harlots Season 03 but, I’m not even sure I can bare watching anymore. I’m very saddened by the events at the end of Episode 03.
We have been watching Family Food Fight, the season currently being uploaded episode by episode on Hulu. Cat Cora as one of the judges is so cool! I love how fast-paced it is and the diversity between the contestants is really great. Seeing family members work together is raw and emotional but, more often, it cracks me the heck up!
I just found The Chefs’ Line, a competitive cooking reality show from Australia, on Netflix yesterday. I already watched the first 4 episodes and was immersed. They choose home cooks that specialize in different cuisines from all over the world and see if they can beat the line cooks and head chefs from a popular restaurant of the same cuisine. Each episode is only 20 minutes or so, making it incredibly easy to binge watch– it truly holds your attention!
For those of us who enjoy dark and gory content from time to time, Deadly Wives, has it all. Each episode is about a different married woman, sometimes two, who murdered their husband. These are REAL LIFE stories and included for each case are interviews with people who personally knew the victim and the killer before the crime, actual police footage– sometimes audio, sometimes videos (!!), dramatic reenactments, and an explanation for why each woman did what she did. This shit is wild!! If you’re interested, you can find the series on Hulu.
After finishing Eliza and Her Monsters, my heart needed another YA novel so I found Lemon Lavender is Not Fine by Elle Pallmore. I’m 52% through and not hating it.
Noriko (@bookfiendsite), kept talking about Netgalley on her blog, and though, it was not the first time I had heard of it, she was the first to make it sound appealing. After being convinced to make my own account, I, of course, looked through the available titles! I saw Lemon Lavender is Not Fine was open for anyone to download so, I got it sent to my Kindle app straightaway. It never expires and I can read it anytime. On the Netgalley site, there were TONS of FREE books and others you could request or “wish” for. I thought I’d never be accepted for ANY with a 0% Feedback but, to my surprise, I was!! Quite a few of my requests were approved and even one of my wishes was granted. I did get a lot of denials as well.
Not gonna lie, I used to make fun of those who said that coloring apps on your phone were relaxing. I never believed it, okay?? BUT, that was only until I downloaded Paint By Number. It’s absolutely addicting and 10000% soothing.
Juice WRLD has recently been killing it out here and Ellie Goulding always has been. Hate Me is a HIT. I swoon at Juice WRLD’s verse every single time, it.is.EVERYTHING. Also, at the end of the music video, they show people jamming out to this song, and it is both hilarious and way too relatable.
Another one by Juice WRLD, this time featuring artist Seezyn. Driving my littler brothers around in Minnesota, they forced me to listen to Hide over and over again until I, too, loved it as much as them. They knew all the words as they sang along and with how much I’ve played it lately, I’m pretty close now, too.
You didn’t think I could end this without mentioning Machine Gun Kelly’s new album, Hotel Diablo, did you!?!? It dropped at the end of July and I’ve got it on non-stop. el Diablo (above) is one of my favorites, along with Hollywood Whore, I Think I’m Okay, and Candy.
