Hey guys πŸ™‚ it’s me, yet again, here to recap my weekend. Starting on Friday.

We went to Albertsons to get some chicken breasts and buns. I was wanting a chicken sandwich and just knew boyfriend would be able to make it better than any restaurant. There was a BOGO free deal for the raw chicken so, we bought two big packs of sliced breasts, pretzel buns, and some toppings.

Boyfriend seasoned the chicken simply but, wonderfully, fried some red onions, red peppers, and garlic, made bacon and toasted the buns in the oven. It was phenomenal! Seriously, so dang yummy. On the side, I just had a small salad with ginger dressing.

I went to work around 11 PM, had a pretty good night, and left around 4 AM.

I was hungry but, not quite in the mood for traditional breakfast food. I wanted Thai Pepper but, on our way there, I looked it up and it said PERMANENTLY CLOSED. I about cried. They were shut down by the health department so I guess, I should be glad I’m not eating there anymore, but honestly, I miss them already!!!! I loved their food and the fact that they were open 24/7.

We had to settle for Pho Kim Long in China Town, which we don’t really like that much. The people who work there are hella rude and their food is just mediocre, at best.

We had Pork and Shrimp Spring Rolls with Peanut Sauce for dipping. It was fresh and tasted like it had just been rolled before making it to our table.

For our entrees, we both got the Vermicelli Noodle Salad. Mine was with shrimp and pork while boyfriend’s (not pictured) had egg rolls and pork. I wasn’t the biggest fan of their fish sauce, it didn’t really have enough flavor but, I did like the marinade on the pork a lot.

I barely ate half of my bowl so we packed it to-go. I ate a bit of it like an hour ago and it was horrid, lol. It does not sit well in the fridge, let me tell you that. πŸ˜›

When we got home, I took a shower, we smoked a blunt, and then, went straight to bed.

Yesterday, we had chicken sandwiches and salads for dinner again. We used up our first pack of breasts and now, we need to work through the second one. There is so much! Give us some ideas, please!

I also had dill-flavored Triscuits to munch on. Yum.

Boyfriend and I drank and played together before he dropped me off at work. I was pretty drunk all night and only took one more shot while there. I was lucky to have a client that I had met on Friday come back to see me. Then, when he left, I found another cool guy to hang out with. It was a nice night for me. πŸ™‚ I left around 4 AM and we had to go to the most astronomically priced dispensary, ever, before going home. Boyfriend forgot his wallet somehow so, I had to go in and make the purchase. The ladies in there were super sweet, I got a free gram of flower for leaving a Google Review on the spot and another free gram for spending a certain amount. Even with the Locals Discount though, I would never go back– I felt totally ripped-off because I pay so much less for the same amount elsewhere, y’know? The only reason we went there is because it’s 24/7 and we freakin’ forgot to buy it before I went to work. We can not sleep without smoking a blunt first!! But hey, I must admit, the buds were reeeeally nice. Super fresh, smelly, tasty, and slow-burning. It put us right to bed and that’s all I could ever ask for. πŸ™‚

Today, we woke up at nearly 4 PM. I took a shower right away and looked for somewhere to eat for about an hour before I finally decided, WHY NOT DO SUSHI SUNDAY?!

I remember driving past this brand spankin’ new spot called, Sushi Zone, in China Town. There was a banner recently put on the outside with big letters saying, “Grand Opening” so I looked it up on Yelp and saw mostly 4 and 5 star reviews. I asked boyfriend if he was willing to take the risk and try it… he’s one of those, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” people but, with real wary, he reluctantly agreed.

The interior was adorable, styled the same as most other Las Vegas Japanese restaurants. The table we were sat at sucked though. It was uneven and kept moving… same with the bench I was sitting on… just super uncomfy. But, never mind that, onto the food!!!

Of course, we had to start with a bunch of appetizers. Our first round included, tuna, yellowtail, and salmon carpaccio (the BEST dish of the night), tuna poke (sauce was too salty), miso soup (good), and seaweed salad (yum).

The calamari tempura came next, they were burning hot and delicious!

The chicken karaage was paired with an interesting white sauce we couldn’t figure out. There were little chunks in it that resembled bleu cheese but, maybe was garlic… it didn’t taste like mayo but, had the same look and consistency? I liked it a lot but, have NO idea what it was. The gyoza were deep-fried to a nice crisp, with a decent amount of filling. The dip was a thin, light soy-sauce of some sort.

The pork belly was hugely sliced, a bit too fatty. The sauce and cook on it was awesome though.

We had to get our second order of carpaccio, since it’s one per person. These slices of fish were SO dang fresh and perfectly sliced. If given the chance, I could eat plate after plate… mmmm… ❀ The half roll was called, 911. I can’t remember everything in/on it but, I loved the crispy bits and jalapenos. I would def order it again.

The other half roll we got was called, Mistake. Inside was 3 different fishies, chopped up, and on top was torched salmon. The sweet onion sauce wasn’t my favorite and the bottoms were mushy yet, we still didn’t have a problem eating ’em all up. Each piece was easily popped into my mouth– something I highly appreciate. (I HATE huge sushi).

I had to get my favorite mackerel (Norway) nigiri and boyfriend got his favorite, red snapper. Both were probably the best I’ve had at an AYCE spot, so far!!

Lastly, we shared an order of the coconut shrimp because we wanted one more snack and we asked for it in our first round but, never got it. I didn’t use the mysterious white sauce because I like my coconut shrimp plain. πŸ˜› They’re like the ONLY things with coconut that I actually enjoy! I wonder why!

For dessert, we both got the affogato… sadly, they weren’t the best. The coffee wasn’t strong enough and the ice cream was so frozen, it had ice chunks in it. I barely ate mine and instead… went to Meet Fresh to pick up some sweet treats.

Boyfriend got a Winter Melon Iced Tea that I forgot to take a picture of. We had never tried the flavor before but, we both compared it to melted brown sugar. It wasn’t bad.

I got a tray of almond pudding with red beans, and Q Mochis. The pudding was kinda weird, like a super sweet jello but, those mochis, I LOVED. I ate them up very quickly.

The other tray I got has some sort of crackers with a filling, one sesame and one red bean mochi ball, and two mung bean cakes. I’ve never had the crackers but I have had the other treats before, the first and only other time we stopped into Meet Fresh. Hopefully I like them as much as everything else!

We had to make a Walmart run, deposit money into the ATM, and go to the smoke shop before heading home.

I drank some coffee and watched an episode of Love Island (UK) before writing this. Now, we’re finally all caught up in my life!! I can’t wait to start pushing out some of my other content, starting tomorrow. πŸ˜€

Hope you all had a lovely weekend and an even better week ahead! ❀

  1. Funny, I’m not a fan of coconut, but I will eat the crap out of coconut shrimp. I like them plain too, no sauce for me! Ha!

I tried mochi once. I nearly gave myself brain freeze but it just didn’t translate that it was meant to be a cold treat. πŸ˜†

    1. Weird that we both like coconut shrimp! It doesn’t have that pungent flavor or smell, huh?

Lol there all kinds of different mochis! I am guessing you had one filled with ice cream, hehe!

  2. That noodle salad looks pretty awesome!
I had something similar for lunch today but it turned out to be not very yummy… πŸ˜€ My colleague asked “is that chicken?” and i was like “it could be…” but then i found a fishbone in it and it just killed it for me πŸ˜€

  3. Awh, that’s so disappointing when a favorite restaurant closes, but definitely a good thing if they were closed down due to the health department! Sushi Zone looks absolutely amazing, and I hate how some sushi rolls are just too large to eat in one bite! I look ridiculous when I try to eat one that’s way too large for someone to enjoy thoroughly. Thanks, yet again, for making me hungry and antsy to try these places that are across the country from me! Haha.

    1. I am sad to see it go but hope they can clean up their act & open up again. But you’re right, it is better that they’re closed if it’s due to a health hazard.

I really liked Sushi Zone!! ❀ I'm glad we gave it a shot. LOL I am with you on the large sushi rolls– they are a pain!!

Sorry to make you hungry again, Stephanie. Maybe you'll be here eating at all these places someday. πŸ™‚

    1. Yesss! Sushi Sunday is the best. πŸ˜€ Everything at the restaurant was really good, except yeah, that ice cream lol. Hope you get to have some sushi soon!! ❀

  4. That sucks that the place shut down completely! I wonder if they’re very strict over there or what, I mean, you say places dont last very long there to begin with. Makes you wonder.
Omg you probably already made the chicken but you MUST look up chili lime tilapia, they also have an avocado crema recipe to go with it and its delish! I know the recipe calls for tilapia, but girl, Alex and I have used the marinade for chicken as well, and it’s amazing! Even more so with the avocado crema! But I know you don’t like avocado!! Its still good without it promise!! Lol
Usually the “quality” is what gives it the higher price but you’re right, if you can get the same amount for less, why bother going back? Lol. Especially if you dont notice much of a difference in the effect it gives you after smoking it you know?
I’ve been loving my cbd gummies before bed but I gotta get better at eating them an hour or two before so I can feel fully relaxed by the time I hit the bed lol.
Interesting the chicken karaage came with a white sauce. When we order fried calamari, that usually comes with a white sauce that looks like mayo but isnt. I wonder if its the same thing? I’ve honestly never asked what it is either.
Well it seems like the sushi was great there then? How does it compare to AYCE overall? Would you go again?
How far into love island are you? I’m still on the second season, almost halfway probably. I’ve been skipping the recaps since I’m binge watching it lol.

    1. Yeah, that’s crazy! They had been open for such a longlong time & was always extremely busy. I never thought they’d close. & I always thought that other places did because they weren’t making $$, I guess I never thought about health reasons because I never looked it up before!!

I’m gonna have to look up this Chili Lime Tilapia recipe! We bought we more chicken so I’m gonna see if boyfriend will want to make it. πŸ˜€

Yeah, the overpriced place just had freshly packaged weed, like seriously the day before, but the place we go to, sells like the same “quality” according to percentages for cheaper so it’s not worth it to pay so much more just for that & yeah, you’re right, you’re getting high regardless but I DO notice the difference in the way the weed smokes/tastes/feels.

I am happy that CBD gummies have been working for you. πŸ™‚

I really wonder what that white sauce was!! I never even thought to ask LOL. Next time, I will! But yess, the sushi was so yummy there!! It was AYCE still & I do think we’ll go there again. πŸ™‚

Oops I already answered your question about Love Island in the other comment but I always skip the recaps, too!!

  5. Coconut shrimp is SO good, I’m not surprised it’s the one thing with coconut that you love! If it’s an option as an appetizer, I always have to get it. Also, dang girl — all the sushi pictures! You know I’m craving it now lol. We still haven’t found a sushi spot here, but that needs to change ASAP. πŸ˜‰
Also, I love that you would rather your boyfriend just make something at home (like the chicken sandwich) than go out for it since he’s such a good cook. That’s awesome and really a high compliment! Oh and for the extra chicken, you could always freeze it. I used to get big packs of chicken and just divide it up into freezer Ziploc bags and freeze them. Then I’d just defrost it in the fridge the night before when I wanted to use it. πŸ™‚

    1. YESS!! I love coconut shrimp. πŸ˜€ It doesn’t really have that scent or taste so it’s good in my book! I bet you’ll find awesome sushi spot soon! There’s gotta be a lot over there, right?!

He is so good at chicken breasts & I’m a bit picky about mine because SO many places can make it dry or overcooked. I love his!! ❀

We ended up using the chicken on time but next time, we will freeze it! πŸ™‚ Thank you for the tip!!

      1. I’ve seen a lot of sushi spots, just have to look them up to see reviews! πŸ˜‰ I’ve had to do that already for a vet, doctor, and hair stylist lol, so I think I’ve been procrastinating. Food has far lower stakes though lol!

Totally agree, it’s really hard to cook chicken breast just right. And if he does such a great job, then why look elsewhere?!

You’re welcome! Freezing chicken always made it easier for getting a couple packs on sale and then already having them at home when I wanted to make something. πŸ™‚ You can do the same with beef or pork too!

          1. It really is amazing what you can freeze! I think we just have to make sure it’s packaged well enough so it’s protected. Bread freezes well, as do hamburger buns…not so much hot dog buns lol. They turn to mush when defrosted. I used to make enchiladas and then freeze half of them as a ready-to-go meal when I didn’t feel like cooking!
