Ipsy Glam Bag | June & July 2019

Hi beauty babes!!! I’m back and ready to discuss the products I received not only in my June Ipsy Glam Bag but also, my July one. Let’s get right into it!!

June 2019

Theme: Block Party

The TETRIS theme/collab was so fun and unique! I didn’t quite like the pattern on my bag though.

What Was In My Bag?!

First Aid Beauty
Ultra Repair Hyaluronic Hydrating Primer

Ipsy’s Description

Help your makeup last longer (and look better)! This oil-free primer combines the power of super hydrating hyaluronic acid, soothing colloidal oatmeal, and light-diffusing micropearls to nourish and brighten your skin, and lock your look in place.

My First Impressions

Instead of a daily moisturizer, I’ve been using this primer before applying makeup and that’s it. It has been enough to keep my super dry face hydrated and soft. Even though directions advise you to moisturize first, it just hasn’t been needed.

The silky cream smells delicious, like watermelon-flavored candy and still, hasn’t irritated my skin. The formula is thin but, does pill up at dry areas to remove the chap. It created a smooth and even surface on my face, making my makeup glide and blend effortlessly. I will complain that a brightening effect wasn’t noticeable.

Cruelty-Free? Yes
Full-Size Retail Value:
$28 (1.7 oz)

TONYMOLY
Vital Vita 12 Jelly Cleanser

Ipsy’s Description

We’ve developed an addiction to K-Beauty brands, like TONYMOLY’s line of high-quality (and super fun) products. This gentle jelly cleanser is infused with a multivitamin blend to dissolve makeup, dirt, and other impurities, while leaving your skin softer, brighter, and hydrated.

My First Impressions

I have heard wonderful things about TONYMOLY but, haven’t been super blown away by any of the brand’s products that I’ve tried. I am excited about this one though, especially because it claims to dissolve makeup and I’m always looking for softer, brighter, and hydrated, right?

Cruelty-Free? No
Full-Size Retail Value:
$18 (15 mL)

Farmacy
Hydrating and Brightening Coconut Gel Sheet Mask Duo

Ipsy’s Description

What’s better than a mask made with skin-loving coconut? Two. The hydrating mask is also packed with hyaluronic acid and cucumber extract for a dose of intense moisture, and the brightening mask is infused with purple broccoli extract to help brighten, firm, and lift.

My First Impressions

I’ve been DYING to try something by Farmacy because I keep seeing other people receive the brand’s products in their Ipsy’s and Boxycharm’s. I was wondering when it would be my turn to try something by them… BUT, of course, I get these masks that are BOTH coconut-scented. Ugh. I know I won’t be able to stand it right on my face so I’ll have to give these away.

Cruelty-Free? Yes
Retail Value:
$6 each

Etat Libre D’Orange
I Am Trash Les Fleurs Du Dechet Eau de Parfum

Ipsy’s Description

Don’t be fooled by its name–this fragrance might be made with upcycled apple essence, bitter orange, gariguette strawberry, rose absolute, and cedarwood atlas, but it smells insanely fresh. And we love this brand’s attitude, aesthetic, and overall cool vibe.

My First Impressions

Very manly and strong. I am not into it.

Cruelty-Free? Not sure
Full-Size Retail Value:
$48 (30 mL)

TETRIS x ipsy
Lipgloss in Tetrimino

Ipsy’s Description

We partnered with iconic video game TETRIS–on its 35th anniversary–to create a limited edition collection celebrating our different sizes, shapes, colors, and unique beauty. Lip toppers are trending, so wear this golden-pearl shade alone or over your fave lip colors.

My First Impressions

Unimpressed. I thought the shade would be fun but, really, it was just clear and sparkly. Super thick white lines formed on my lips every time I spoke, it looked disgusting and felt too thick and sticky.

July 2019

Theme: Dive In

The bag for July was pretty and artsy. I love the green and pink shades used– they complemented each other perfectly. The design totally fit for the month itself but, the Ipsy theme, Dive In, didn’t really go with it.

What Was In My Bag?!

Murad
Essential-C Cleanser

Ipsy’s Description

Created by a renown dermatologist, this line of high-performance products is known for being super effective. Rich in vitamins A, C, and E, this nourishing formula deep cleans and rehydrates skin while protecting from free radical damage. Plus, it’s great for all skin types.

My First Impressions

Cannot wait to try this but, I have a lot of skincare on hold at the moment because I don’t want to be using more than one new face product at a time.

Cruelty-Free? Yes
Full-Size Retail Value:
$39 (6.75 fl. oz.)

LUXIE Beauty
1010 Small Contour

Ipsy’s Description

This contouring brush is *so* good for blending out contouring and bronzing powders. With compact bristles, it’s also great for targeting smaller, tricky areas on your face (like your cupid’s bow). Plus, the pretty handle is ergonomic, so conquering your contour is a cinch.

My First Impressions

The handle of this brush is GORGEOUS! It is so sleek and fits nicely in my hand. The brush is just the right size for your contouring area and does an amazing job, just like all other LUXIE brushes I’ve received.

Cruelty-Free? Yes
Retail Value:
$32

Midflower
Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Mask

Ipsy’s Description

Merging cutting-edge technology with the ancient practice of using flower water in skincare, Midflower creates products that are both natural and effective. This 100% biodegradable mask delivers 24 hours of hydration while plumping up your skin and smoothing its texture.

My First Impressions

Honestly, the packaging reminds me of a sheet mask you could find at the Dollar Tree but, the description makes it sound luxurious. I need to try it before I talk about it!

Cruelty-Free? Don’t think so… but, I’m unsure
Retail Value:
$25 (5 pack)

Color Club
Nail Polish in Mrs. Robinson

Ipsy’s Description

This female-founded brand creates imaginative, one-of-a-kind colors in their NY-based manufacturing plant. Revamp your mani for summer with this vibrant, electric purple shade. It’s eye-catching, long-lasting, and like all Color Club polishes, it’s cruelty-free.

My First Impressions

I have a few nail polishes by Color Club in my collection already but, the funny thing is, they all have different finishes. I didn’t own any regular ones! I love the thin, wet, easy-to-work-with formula but, it did take long to dry and it needed more than three layers to reach my preferred opaqueness. The chipping also occurred within a day or two– which sucks.

Benefit Cosmetics
Roller Lash Curling Mascara in Black

Ipsy’s Description

Benefit Cosmetics creates so many beloved bomb products, like this curling mascara. The unique Hook’n’Roll brush grabs, separates, lifts, and curls, while the instant curve-setting formula conditions your lashes and stays put for 12 hours. Can’t wait to make a splash? Go ahead–it’s also water-resistant.

My First Impressions

Meh, I wasn’t the biggest fan of this mascara. The bristles on the wand were way too short and the formula was too dry and sticky. I needed to seriously coat my lashes with the product to get them to my desired length. There was no curling or lifting visible, I only saw a bit of lengthening and sticking together… the only reason I’d choose this mascara over any other one is because there was minimal smudging below my eyes at the end of the night.

    1. Yeah, I don’t know what was up with that lipgloss! It was terrible & yes, such a disappointment! ๐Ÿ˜›

Ipsy doesn’t charge for shipping & handling but they do tax if your state makes them. Like I pay $10.83 every month over here.

    1. Yay, so happy you like these reviews, Allie! ๐Ÿ™‚ I love getting them because they keep me in the know about new beauty stuff, too! The block party bag was alright to me but, I thought it’d be more TETRIS style than it was, y’know?!

  1. I just read someone elseโ€™s Ipsy bag post for June, and you both received the same products. I wonder if theyโ€™re doing that now? Iโ€™ve put it on hold for now, but was planning on getting it again eventually!

The skincare stuff looks like the best items you got. The cleanser and the face masks! Itโ€™s a shame you canโ€™t try the Farmacy ones because of the scent :/

Has Ipsy felt worth it lately?

    1. Oh really? That’s so lame that we had the exact same products. I heard that would be happening because they started including note cards with info of each product now.

I actually love Ipsy– I do think it’s worth it still!! I feel like they include more & more full-sized items & always introduce me to new indie brands. ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Oh thatโ€™s a thing now? They mustโ€™ve just started that. It does suck itโ€™s less personalized though :/

And itโ€™s nice actually scoring full sized off a sample bag, I feel like I rarely got those! But thatโ€™s true, I like how they introduce you to new products, even if some of them arenโ€™t the best ๐Ÿ™‚

        Liked by 1 person

        1. Yeah they just started it a few months ago & I have realized that it’s less personalized now. Especially if a lot of us are getting the exact same products. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ It is nice scoring full-sized items so often though & yeah, I like trying new brands because then you know if they’re good or not, basically for free. ๐Ÿ™‚

          1. I gotcha! Last bag I got I think was in April or May? I didnโ€™t even mean to get that one but I had forgotten I had only delayed my subscription ๐Ÿ˜‚ but that is nice they send fuller sized items now more often!

  2. The bag for June is not that bad, but I’m not sure the colors scream summer to me lol.
I didnt know FAB had a primer! Great that it doubles as a moisturizer, perfect for summer!
I think you should try one of those Farmacy masks or at the very least look up reviews of them and see if they truly are scented. If they aren’t you can keep them and use them yourself!
That tetris gloss was a fail lol i wish they would have done something better
The July bag is pretty and I love the pattern but nothing to do with the theme. Why not something watery? Lol
Omg this is a first! A black luxie brush?? Pretty!!
Oh man with so much talk of the roller lash I would have expected something better than just lengthening

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yeah, I don’t know, I’m not a fan of the colors or the design of June’s bag. ๐Ÿ˜›

I think FAB has a few primers now!! This one is so nice but, I’m not sure it’s meant to double as a moisturizer. I had to start using one again because I was getting face chap LOL.

If those Farmacy masks were anything BUT coconut-scented, I’d give ’em a go but, I hate coconut-anything. You’re right though, maybe they aren’t too strong. I should look into some reviews first!

The Tetris gloss was an absolute fail. I wish they would have worked harder on their formulas… & packaging LOL.

I know? I was confused about the theme not matching the bag at all but whatever. ๐Ÿ˜› The black luxie brush is goooorgeous & feels so nice in my hands!! The Roller Lash isn’t that exciting, lemme tell you that… lol.

      1. They are hit or miss every once in a while for some people so that’s okay. Hopefully August’s bag is pretty lol.
Ah that sucks that it’s not meant to moisturize the skin, or rather. To be worn alone. But at least you know your skin very well.
Honestly! Tetris is so iconic and a huge part of our childhood youd think they’d work better at it lol.

        Liked by 1 person

        1. I put all my subscriptions on hold for August unless I see the spoilers & really want it ๐Ÿ˜› I think I’ll be resuming the Ipsys in September though. I just need to get caught up on the products a bit first!

I am starting to feel like I don’t know my skin that well. It keeps changing & it’s either too dry or breaking out now! I feel like I’ve just been using too much different stuff??

I agree about Tetris being iconic!! I really did expect a lot more. I don’t know if you’ve seen the palette yet in anyone else’s unboxing but, it was pretty boring too. ๐Ÿ˜›

          Liked by 1 person

          1. That’s a good idea!. I like that ipsy has the option to skip months lol.
Awh really? Well it could be that like you said, trying out so many products at once. All the different ingredients could be making your skin freak out a bit.
Omg what there was a palette??? Nooooo….I gotta see it. I will look it up now and see what they make it look like I’m gonna be disappointed if it looks fucking shitty lol

            Liked by 1 person

            1. Yeah I do, too! It sucks that you have to cancel Boxy & could potentially be put on a waitlist when you want to resubscribe!

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking, that I’ve been using too many different products but I also heard your skin can get upset if you keep using the same ones, over & over, too? Even if it worked for you at one point?

I’ll post the palette on my blog eventually but did you look it up & see it yet?? What did you think?! I haven’t touched it at all, not even swatches yet.

              Liked by 1 person

              1. Yes, that’s true too, though neither applies to me, which is weird because I can’t say I don’t have sensitive skin, but rather, I have sensitive areas? so my skin can still act up but not entirely lol. so far the products I’ve used haven’t made my skin react badly.
we were talking about the tetris palette right? yes I looked it up, saw the entire collection and I wasn’t pleased! LOL

                Liked by 1 person

                1. Ah yeah, sometimes my skin just breaks out & it could have nothing to do with a product, too so I get confused!!

Yeah we were talking about the palette lol I’m glad you agree with me about it not being the best!

                  Liked by 1 person

          2. Kay I saw the whole collection on MSA, they had two palettes, a brush set, some liners, glosses and lip balms. To be honest, the packaging was gorgeousss!!! However, the products were underwhelming and I dont feel like they reflected Tetris at all? Maybe it’s just me…

            Liked by 1 person

            1. Oh oh, never mind my other comment LOL. The packaging was fun but, I don’t know, I agree, none of it really reflected Tetris. I feel like the palette pans should have been the game shapes or idk, something better!!

              Liked by 1 person

              1. haha omg sameeee! I literally thought the same thing about the pans being in the shape of the tetris! that would have been far more awesome, though a bit weird to dip in there, but I’ve had worst palettes before, so a little change in shape wouldn’t have been that bad I don’t think LOL maybe they were too hard to make but come on, ipsy makes a ton of money, I’m sure they could have figured it out to make the collection really, and I mean REALLY iconic. but failed…..

                Liked by 1 person

    1. Aw thank you, Britney! โค I've heard such great things about the Murad brand, but knowing that the cleanser worked for you makes me want to try it sooner than I planned!!

  3. It seems like a great couple of months for Ipsy! How disappointing that the perfume was so manly-scented! That’s weird, and you think they would have noticed, lol. Maybe they should market it as cologne haha. And that clear, sparkly lip gloss sounds awful! That sounds like what all us girls wore in the early 2000s lol. That Luxie brush is gorgeous though, how cool that they contoured the handle like that! And that purple nail polish is so bright and beautiful!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I was pretty happy about both of these bags. ๐Ÿ™‚ I mean, maybe other people wouldn’t think the perfume was manly but, to me, it really was… boyfriend said it was more “grandma-y” lol.

YEAH! The lip gloss was totally like the kind we would wear in the 2000s. It smelled just like it too!

Getting a brush always makes up for the cost of the bag & this one was SO gorgeous. I loved the purple shade of the polish, too!! ๐Ÿ˜€ โค

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Ohh I totally get that about it being a “grandma” scent lol! Sounds pretty strong either way. I get why you wouldn’t want it!

Wow, lol, what a throwback! I wonder who they had test the lip gloss haha.
