Reviewing Some Films I Watched #10

**Hey friends! Before jumping into my reviews, could you check your spam comments? I was reading a ton of blogs earlier today and noticed only half of my comments were going through. If you received a “like” on one of your posts from me but, no comment– I probably really did leave one, it’s just… WordPress hates me.**

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (2019)

IMDb Synopsis

A courtroom frenzy ensues and sweeps 1970s America when a young single mother meets Ted Bundy.

My Review

For someone who didn’t know much about Ted Bundy before watching this film, I expected to learn a lot more. The film didn’t talk about or put into detail ANY of his crimes. It was almost like one of his women fans wrote this script. There wasn’t much of a plot, no action scenes, and the romance was stale– even though it was meant to be the main focus.

Zac Efron performed beautifully and to be honest, just the fact that he’s in this movie made it easy to watch. I can’t say that I wouldn’t have turned it off early had the main actor been an unknown.

My Rating: 3 out of 5
Watched It On: Netflix

Jennifer 8 (1992)

IMDb Synopsis

An LA homicide investigator moves and starts a murder investigation after a woman’s hand etc. are found at a dump. Could it be a Jennifer (victims of a serial killer are called Jennifer)? It leads him to a witness; a cute, blind woman.

My Review

First of all, I love films from the ’90s. The acting is so over-the-top (but, good) and you can tell they’re really trying. I also like how they’re always smoking cigarettes. It just makes it feel like so long ago because people in films don’t do that anymore.

I was actually shocked at the ending and at many of the events that happened throughout. I usually can predict outcomes and even upcoming scenes but, I was nearly blindsided by it all in this one. If you’re into serial killers, I would highly recommend Jennifer 8… but, if you are, you’ve probably already seen it, huh?

My Rating: 5 out of 5
Watched It On: Hulu

Julie & Julia (2009)

IMDb Synopsis

Julia Child’s story of her start in the cooking profession is intertwined with blogger Julie Powell’s 2002 challenge to cook all the recipes in Child’s first book.

My Review

I don’t know how I never watched this cute little film before. I absolutely adored it! The two different stories were both so fun to follow especially because the change of time periods. The focus on food was definitely my favorite part but, there was a lot about blogging, too. For some reason, I wasn’t even expecting that! (The description on Hulu was different than on IMDb). The husbands were so sweet, romantic, and supportive. I want to read all of the books that this film was based on now!!

My Rating: 4 out of 5
Watched It On: Hulu

Have you watched any of these films? If so, what were your thoughts? If not, are you planning to? And ALSO, what should I watch next?!

  1. Have you watched The Bundy Tapes on Nexflix? It’s an actual documentary about Ted Bundy with tape recordings of his interviews and clips of him in court. It’s way better than the Zac Effron movie. I’ve also recently watched Julie & Julia and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

    1. I cancelled my Netflix account but, I don’t usually like documentary type stuff so I never watched the Tapes. πŸ˜› It does sound super interesting though! & yeah! Julie & Julia was really cute & fast-paced. I enjoyed it, too. I’m glad you did as well!! πŸ™‚

  2. You’re not in my spam this week 🀣

I was interested in the Ted Bundy movie. I believe there is another one ON Netflix as well.

I ❀ Julia and Julie! I watched it again not to long ago. It made me want to cook my own way through it Haha but I’m too poor to be messing up something expensive. I did just recently get Reese Wetherspoon’s cookbook. I may start cooking my way through that once I read it

    1. LOL OH! For the first time ever I wasn’t in your spam. This calls for a celebration!! ;D

You may enjoy the movie even if it’s a bit slow-paced. I cancelled my Netflix but now I keep getting recommendations to watch stuff on there… I may just get it back LOL.

Julie & Julia was so cute!! I do think the food was extra fancy & difficult though. I would love to see you cook your way through Reese’s cookbook!!

  3. My husband & I actually watched the first movie Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile and we really liked it. Zac Efron did an incredible job and even kinda looked like Ted Bundy. I think they were mainly focused on that one particular women that didn’t get murdered by him which is kind of amazing in itself considering that was what he was best known for. I think if you google his name it will give you much more information.

    1. I agree about Zac Efron doing super well in the role & even kind of resembling him. That’s what made me so uncomfortable lol. I totally get that the film was focused on his relationship but, the whole time I kind of hated her. I wanted to see her have a deep love & passion for him the way the other girl in glasses did, y’know?

      1. I get you, but I also understood the other women’s perspective. Cuz at first it seemed like she was feeling that sort of passion for him, until she found out what he was all about. The other women I think her name was Carole Anne Boone(Google) whom he married and had a daughter with, she on the other hand seemed a bit of a whack job, but that’s just my opinion. LOL!! But I understand what you are saying, they should’ve had more, but there wasn’t it also seemed very focused on Bundy being his own lawyer in the proceedings, so the whole court room case in itself.

        1. LOL you’re right, Carole Anne Boone def seemed like a total whack job but her love & passion for him was way more shocking– like how could she not believe it all? But I didn’t know the focus was also a bit on how he was his own lawyer. That makes a lot of sense of because they showed a ton of that. πŸ˜›

    1. It wasn’t bad, I do get that the main focus was the relationship but I actually kind of wish she loved him more & had a deeper passion for him. The way the girl in glasses did, y’know? πŸ˜› Thanks for reading, Jamie!!

    1. Yay πŸ™‚ I’m glad you have received most of my comments but I do think your blog has spammed me once or twice in the past LOL.

Wasn’t Jennifer 8 so good? Wow, I loved it!! That ending was kickass!!

  4. Yes!! I watched Julie & Julia and I also have a book! (Didn’t even know the movie was based on the book…) I absolutely adored Julie’s journey to cook off Julia’s recipes but was demoralized and shocked by the cold rejection by Julia’s part… 😦 My heart was broken.

    1. I know, I couldn’t believe Julia shunned her like that but I did take into consideration their age difference & how hard she worked to get published when nowadays it’s as easy as starting a blog, y’know? I want to read the letters that Julia & her husband wrote to their dear ones, I hope I can find those books in my elibrary. ❀

  5. Oh my gosh, Julie & Julia, love that movie!! I saw it in the theater when it came out back in 2009, and I was smitten from the start! Meryl Streep always knocks it out of the park.

    1. I think you would get a little bored & not even finish the Ted Bundy one if you watched it. πŸ˜› Jennifer 8 was really good though & Julie & Julia was so cute– there was so much yummy looking food in it lol.

  6. I wanna watch Jennifer 8 and Julie and Julia now! I wonder if they are on netflix or youtube cuz I don’t have hulu.

The ted bundy movie looked so boring, i felt like it was just an interesting trailer and thats it, but thanks to you i prob won’t even give it a chance now after reading this.

    1. I watched both on Hulu but they might be on Netflix, too? They sometimes have the same stuff!

Yeah, you can skip the Ted Bundy film unless you are a huge fan of any of the actors/actresses. πŸ˜›

            1. No, it’s only a one time payment that isn’t bad at all but, I just only upgraded because I ran out of media storage space then I deleted a bunch of posts & pictures & don’t need the upgraded site anymore!

              1. That’s why they told me to upgrade because I am using up all my media storage.I tried that deleting but then it deleted the photos on my post , remember at one time you couldn’t see my picks especially the pic of the coffee I posted?

  7. I totally agree about Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile I wish they would’ve told more about his crimes, but I read it was supposed to be more from Liz’s perspective. I reallly like Lilly Collins and Zac Efron so they kind of saved the movie for me

    Liked by 2 people

    1. I wish Liz loved him more & wasn’t the one who called the police on him– I wanted her to be completely blindsided but obviously she saw something wrong in him… πŸ˜› lol I know it’s real life though & that’s how it went so they can’t change the past just for a better film.

I already loved Zac Efron & Kaya Scodelario– they were the reasons why I wanted to watch it but I had never seen Lilly Collins in anything before. Being introduced to her also saved the movie for me… she’s almost prettier than Zac!!

  8. I haven’t seen any of these, but I just watched a really good movie on Tubi recently. It’s called “Girl Lost”. I was quite blown away by how good it was. I want to blog about it if I ever get a chance. I’ve been spending most of my time working and playing Covet Fashion. lol That’s why I haven’t blogged in forever.

      1. Tubi is a free streaming site like Netflix and Hulu but FREE! Only catch is you have to watch some ads/commercials but it’s very minimal and not very bothersome. You can download the app or watch online at their website. TubiTV.com. You should give Girl Lost a watch. I think you would really like it.

    1. I like switching up the genre when I watch a few or more films in a row! I just scroll through my options & see whichever catches my attention first. πŸ™‚ Jennifer 8 was so good!!
