Journal Entry #255

You’re hardly gonna believe how bad our luck is when I tell you this.

On Friday, after I published my Journal Entry, I texted boyfriend and asked him if everything was alright because it was later than usual and he hadn’t told me he was on his way home yet. Welp, he couldn’t freakin’ get our car started and it wasn’t because of a dead battery. We have no clue what the heck is wrong with it because everything seems absolutely fine. It’s not even at home, either. It’s at boyfriend’s work. We have no idea what to do or where to start.

That night, after trying everything to fix the car, he ended up just calling an Uber to drive him home. I was way too depressed to call one to bring me to work even though I definitely should have went since we’ll probably need to spend a fortune to get our car towed and fixed.

I finished watching Jennifer 8 and 3/4 of Julie & Julia before we went to bed a little past 2 AM. Boyfriend had an early shift yesterday. He had to call an Uber to bring him there and he tried a couple other things to fix the car before he started but, still nothing.

When he got off, he tried a few other tricks I found online that I thought might work but, nope. He wasted two hours for no reason. He ended up getting an Uber to bring him home again.

When he arrived, he quickly rolled a blunt and we smoked it on our walk to Starbucks. It was such a nice and peaceful stroll, I didn’t even mind not having a car at the time.

After getting our espressos, we went to the ATM, and decided to eat at Lindo Michoacan, a Mexican restaurant we passed on the way home.

We had been one time before but, couldn’t remember anything we ordered and/or if we liked the food!

It was (and always is) PACKED with people. We were surprised that there was no wait for us to get seated.

Other than the bean dip and salsa with chips, we also got a noodle soup, complimentary, to start. πŸ™‚ I loved it all!

For my main, I chose the Carne Asada Mexican Sandwich. The lettuce was a bit much but after taking a glob of it off, it was much better.

Boyfriend got the Chicken & Steak Fajitas. It came with flour tortillas on the side but they arrived after I took the photos– which obviously weren’t turning out that great in the lighting anyways, lol. I loved the rice but, to me, the meat needed more seasoning. Boyfriend disagreed and thoroughly enjoyed it, which is all that matters since it was his dish… not mine. πŸ˜›

When we finished eating, we walked back home and smoked a blunt. I watched a tiny bit of Love Island Season 05. I am SO excited to see it’s on Hulu now!!! I wish I could have watched more but, I only got to meet the first three gals in the Villa before we finished the blunt and I needed to get ready for work.

I had one shot of Patron in the freezer so I took it with a little pineapple juice before I called my Uber. He was annoying, asking when he could see me at my job, and drove terribly but, at least, safely got me to work.

It was a really nice night for me after I got off stage and this awesome client grabbed me. πŸ˜€ I didn’t drink anymore until I was done working and about to go home. Then, I accepted two and made a little more money before checking out. My Uber driver that brought me home was pretty cool but kept calling me “baby”… ugh.

Today, we didn’t wake up until 04:30 PM. We were exhausted from all the stress and walking in the heat. We needed a good and big dinner so I scoped the Restaurant Week website for a place to try.

Last year, I went to a ton of different ones so I’m not interested in that many this year. PLUS, we’re out of a car so I can’t be doing much. I was grateful and excited to be able to go to Elephant Bar today though.

I took a shower then, we smoked a blunt, and walked to the Smoke Shop to get wraps for later. We called an Uber to pick us up from there and he was the slowest driver, ever. We were relieved to finally make it to the restaurant around 6:30 PM.

I can’t believe we had never been here before. Yelp has never suggested them to us so I’m glad that they participated in Restaurant Week for us to discover. πŸ™‚

I was having trouble getting photos of the interior but, ^ here’s a taste LOL. It was romantic-casual.

I mistakenly peeked at their menu, just to see what else they had to offer apart from the three-course meal options. I spied Pan Seared Ahi Tuna and couldn’t get it out of my mind so of course, I had to add it to our order.

It was really tasty and totally worth it. I loved the crust and the arugula salad on the side was perfectly bitter with just the right kind of sour dressing and crunchy wonton strips.

Boyfriend’s first course was the Parmesan Crusted Green Beans with a Thai Aioli sauce. They were so crisp and fun to eat but, the breading definitely could have used some more seasoning.

My first course was the Chicken Lettuce Wraps. The chicken mix was lovely but both of the sauces were a bit sweet. The peanut one needed to be much more peanut buttery and I don’t even know what the other one was– it was green, sticky, and tasted like melted sugar.

The Top Sirloin with Coconut Shrimp, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Spiced Butter, and Grilled Veg was boyfriend’s main. I would’ve needed some A1 if it was mine (I always do), but he says that drowns out the flavor of the meat…

I had the Jambalaya with brown rice and it came with the most tempting garlic bread. It was a bit tomatoey with a prominent hint of spice. The chicken was a little dry but, the shrimps, surprisingly, weren’t. I only ate half because I was full from the apps and I knew that I wanted to eat my dessert.

The beautiful Butter Cake. Mmm, mmm… I don’t even know how to explain the taste. Boyfriend said it reminded him of his grandma’s French Toast bake. It was warm, melt in your mouth, delicious. Along with the vanilla ice cream, it was THE ultimate bite. I was sad to leave about 1/4 of it because my stomach just couldn’t handle anymore– especially with the black coffee I also had.

Boyfriend’s cheesecake was a little disappointing. There was a weird lemon pudding on top and the cheese part just wasn’t the best. I also hated the artificial strawberry jam spread on the bottom but, that Oreo crust always wins my heart.

We called an Uber to pick us up and had him drop us off at Ross so we could make another stop at the ATM. I had to run in the bathroom before we could continue our journey though LOL, thank you, dairy. We also stopped at the dispensary then, finally, we made it home.

I started typing this pretty much right away, after I checked my notifications. Now, I need to run to the bathroom again and then, I’ll probably spend the rest of my night playing Sims 4 and/or watching Love Island. I’m gonna have to go to work tomorrow but, I’ll be writing a film reviews post before I do, probably. πŸ™‚

Have a wonderful week, everybody. ❀

      Thank you, Norrie!! ❀

    1. The Uber drivers are so weird! WHY can’t they just drive the dang car? Thank you, Stephanie! We’ll probably be bringing the car to the shop sometime this week. Hopefully it’s not the worst thing in the world to fix.

The Ahi tuna was delish! Hope you were able to find some to eat. πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you, Cordelia. ❀ I hope so, too!

The Mexican food was definitely filling. I didn't even finish a half of that sandwich lol.

I don't know why my Uber drivers are the worst. Ugh.

The Elephant Bar was really interesting. It's an "Asian Fusion Cuisine" restaurant. I wish our stomachs were bigger so we could try more LOL. But YESSS, the dairy was worth it… so yummy. ❀ The stomach ache always goes away but the memory of the food never does, hehe. Hope you have a wonderful week, too!! ❀

    1. It really is super frustrating especially since we’ve only had the car for a tiny bit over a month now. That tuna was prob the best dish from both restaurants. I wish I was eating it again, too, hehe. ❀

  5. Ugh, car troubles are the *worst*

Or maybe creepy Uber drivers are the worst from the sound of it. I’d think I’d blow a gasket if they ever called me β€œbaby”

The food you eat always looks so delicious!

    1. Seriously, I don’t think there’s anything worse than car troubles but yeah, creepy Uber drivers def come in hot at second. πŸ˜› It was weird that he kept calling me “baby” but it seemed like he just calls everyone that.

      The food was awesome πŸ˜€

  6. I’m sorry you guys keep having car troubles! If its not the battery I wonder if it could be the starter… idk.
The food at the Mexican restaurant looks good! Their tortas (sandwiches) tend to be pretty underrated in my opinion though some arent as good lol. Alex would have probably gotten fajitas as well. He usually gets chicken lol
I’ve never had to get picked up by an uber (thankfully) so I have no experience with those people lol.
Omg I forgot about restaurant week! I think it’s a month for us over here I’ll have to check. But the food looks amazing and it would be a great opportunity to try a new place.
I’m catching up again on my blog and I was doing so good lol.

    1. Gosh, wait until you read my update on the car. The bad luck continued!! We also tested the starter & it was supposedly still good according to O’Reilly’s. So it wasn’t that nor the battery. πŸ˜›

The Torta was awesome, I have loved it every time I’ve tried one (like maybe two other times lol). πŸ˜€ Boyfriend alwaaaays chooses fajitas, too. This time, I think my meat was more seasoned & tasty.

You are lucky to have never had to deal with Uber!! Your cars must always be in tiptop shape lol. I wish we knew how to keep ours running…

I’m sad we were only able to hit one restaurant week this year but next year, we’ll try to get to more!! I wish ours lasted a whole month but all of June was pretty hard for me so I don’t think I woulda made it to more anyways. πŸ˜› When does yours start??

❀ ❀ I'm doing soooo bad with the blog but I know I'll come back in full force when the time is right… I cannot freakin' wait to read all your posts that I've missed out on.

      1. Wait, when’s the last time you wrote a blog post? Because I haven’t seen anything for like a week. =/
Hopefully you can get your car fixed soon, sounds like such a drag.
LOL I just couldn’t be able to afford an uber and I don’t trust other people to drive my child and I around. πŸ™‚
Apparently it already happened! I FUCKING MISSED IT LOL….. AGAINN!!! It’s usually on March so I’ll have to remember that or write it down somewhere
You don’t have to read them all girl! I’ve said this in another post but you’re not really missing out on anything I haven’t done anything special LOL

        1. I hadn’t posted in a week before my most recent one! Lol I think I need to get back on schedule after I visit MN! The car troubles have really been a drag. 😦

I totally get why you wouldn’t trust a stranger to drive you & your baby! I am the worst driver so I trust anyone more than myself hahah.

Aww noo!! Such a bummer you missed Restaurant Week but hey, there’s always next year. πŸ˜€

I’m gonna read them all, you’ll seeee! ❀

          1. Awh well I hope your trip to MN goes well and that this new car you get is better than the one you had.
LOL I feel like I’ll have to remind myself somehow because it’s just something that slips my mind.

  7. I am SOOO sorry about the car situation! I can hardly believe it… y’all have been through the ringer with car issues lately. Hopefully this means no more for the rest of the year. But good choice getting Mexican food that day.. sometimes Mexican is the ultimate comfort food/cure all!

Oh my goodness- we used to have an Elephant Bar here!! I didn’t realize it was a chain!! I was so sad when it vacated. The ahi tuna you got looks sooo good. Also, I love A1 too, but once again- the hubs & the boyfriend agree on something.. that most steak shouldn’t have sauce. Oh and that jambalaya with brown rice- I think I could down a huge bowl of that right now. Yummmm.

Hopefully at this point the car battery is all replaced & figured out ❀

    1. I KNOW! It was almost expected that the car was going to break down so soon… we have the worst luck with them so who knows if it will be our last issue of the year?! The Mexican food was def comforting. ❀

Oh! I didn't realize Elephant Bar was a chain either. How cool that you used to go to one, too! Yessss, I loved the Ahi & A1 all day, right?! All steaks need sauce, even $100 ones. I don't care what anyone says LOL! The jambalaya could've been better but yeah, still yummy! ;D

The battery was fine in the car, we had no idea what was wrong with it… 😦 thank you though!!

  8. Do you have a AAA membership? They will tow you for free. And I’ve used them TOO MANY TIMES for the battery replacement. I had a car that I could not KEEP a battery charged in. Batteries are supposed to last what…5 years? I was lucky to get 2 years with that damn car. Anyway, I’m so sorry your car is broken and I hope its a quick, inexpensive fix!

I need that vanilla ice cream!!!!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Ah yeah, we should prob invest in a AAA membership. Def would have came in handy & I wish it would have just been a simple battery replacement!! Thank you!! I hope you got some ice cream. ;D

  9. I hope your can get fixed soon when your boyfriend goes to start it does it turnover or nothing ? If it doesn’t turnover and no lights most likely the battery . Did he try jump starting it ? So much safer then Uber’s.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yeah it was giving us nothing but the battery & starter were both good. We have no idea what was wrong but you won’t believe what happened next! Even more bad luck… but yeah, I hate Ubers. I can’t wait until we have a working car again.
