Tuscan Sausage Gnocchi

My Review

We had only tried gnocchi one time before this and weren’t sure if we liked it or not. After trying this recipe, we still haven’t decided. We did enjoy the little dumplings, they were chewy and fun but the sauce was a bit heavy on the wine and made them taste a bit funny. It had a weird aftertaste.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 6 Italian Sausage Links
  • 3 tbsp Imported Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 Red Onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Minced Garlic
  • 1 jar Traditional Passata (24 oz)
  • 2 tsp Fennel Seed
  • 1/2 tsp Crushed Red Pepper
  • 1/2 cup Dry Red Wine
  • 1 lb Potato Gnocchi
  • 1 tsp Fresh Parsley, chopped

I do not know what to consider this recipe… it was definitely not tasting like chicken pot pie and it didn’t have enough flavor or any noodles so we can’t say chicken noodle soup… I don’t know just… pass.

  • 3 cups cauliflower florets
  • 3 cups chicken stock
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 1 cup diced carrots
  • 1 tsp rosemary chopped
  • 1 tsp thyme chopped
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 cup peas or chopped green beans
  • 2 chicken breasts shredded (2 cups)
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

This was the hit of the week and really, it was just good steak and a nice, simple balsamic sauce with fresh veggies. I loved it!

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 12 oz boneless sirloin steak, trimmed of visible fat
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp safflower oil (we used EVOO)
  • 4 whole-wheat tortillas (each 7 1/2 inches in diameter)
  • 3 cups shredded romaine lettuce
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced carrots (about 1 medium carrot, peeled)
  • 2 oz thinly sliced red onion (about 1 medium red onion)
  • 1/2 medium cucumber, thinly sliced (peeled)
  • 1/4 to 1/2 packed cup chopped cilantro leaves
  • 3 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 4 tsp raw honey
  • 1 packet stevia (we used regular sugar)
  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 to 3/4 tsp red pepper flakes

    1. The chicken pot pie was disappointing. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ We’ll have to try another recipe soon & hopefully it will be good enough for you to try, too!

      We do have a Jason’s Deli here but I can’t eat their soup because it has dairy. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

  1. Every I see gnocchi on the menu I have to pass it up because it doesnt look that interesting to me. Lol
    Awh the chicken pot pie soup looks like it had potential.
    At least this week you had one dish that you liked, otherwise the week would have been bad. My food has to be good otherwise it’s a disappointment lol

    1. They LOOK interesting to me but, the taste is kinda weird. I always except a cheese-filling like tortellini LOL.

      The chicken pot pie probably needed some real dairy in it or something. It was def missing that creamy flavor.

      I hate the weeks when we try 3 bad recipes in a row. We both get really disappointed & have the quietest dinners when the food is bad hahaha.

        Awh I’ve personally never had chicken pot pie but if it’s usually a creamy texture that may the reason it wasnt all there
        Hahahaha omg sounds like us! When our food isnt as good, I dont rave about it as much, alex likes to cook and he likes to go all out sometimes and always asks for my rating ๐Ÿคฃ

        1. Ooh really? I love chicken pot pie but yeah, it’s usually thick & creamy so that’s what I was lookin’ for in the soup.

          LOL same!! I won’t say much if the food doesn’t turn out good but if it does, I’ll say “omg so good” every few bites so he always knows if I like it or not!

  2. I LOVE gnocchi so it’s such a shame that recipe didn’t utilize them well with the flavors! How disappointing. I hope you can have an amazingly delicious experience with gnocchi down the road. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Also that chicken pot pie soup! How sad!! I tried making a chicken pot pie soup once and it turned out HORRIBLY, lol. Like, I couldn’t even eat it — it was awful! I’m sure there are better recipes available though. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for sharing!!

    1. Yeah, I totally think I COULD like gnocchi if it was made with the right sauce & stuff. I hope to have an amazing experience with it down the road, too. ๐Ÿ˜›

      LOL yeah, the chicken pot pie soup needed some real dairy for it to be called that. There probably are better recipes around but sadly, we BOTH chose unfortunate ones!!!

  3. My fave gnocchi sauce is tomato & mascarpone. It’s good even if you just add it to the cooked gnocchi, but if you are feeling fancy, you can fry some bacon /pancetta, mix with the gnocchi and this sauce, and bake it in the oven for a lil’ bit โค

    Or with simple pesto is also good.
