Shows I’ve Recently Watched #7

Star
Season 03, 18 Episodes

IMDb Synopsis

A trio of women form a musical group in Atlanta.

My Review

Yes, I totally get that this season wasn’t half as good as the first two but, I want to blame it on Star and Lottie needing time off in real life. If there were a season 04, I have no doubt that it would’ve been better. I was juuust getting back into the show in the last couple episodes of season 03 and I REALLY needed to see more after that wild finale.

There wasn’t much action or drama but, I felt that the pieces were being picked up and put back together. We were almost to our happy ending for the trio. Couldn’t we just have one more season?! I’ll miss all the songs and singing so much but, most of all, I’m going to miss the characters!! I had such a connection with Star and Simone, I felt all of their emotions so strongly. And Jackson’s pretty face… ugh, please. I need another channel to pick this show up NOW!!!

The Village
Season 01, 10 Episodes

IMDb Synopsis

Residents of a unique apartment building in Greenwich Village build a bonded family of friends and neighbors.

My Review

I just screamed “noooo” so loud that boyfriend peeked his head in from the balcony and asked me if “everything’s alright?” when clearly, it’s NOT.

They CANCELLED The Village, you guys. My whole heart and soul was in this show after only 10 episodes. Every single character was lovable, pure, and beautiful. I could seriously watch their lives unfold all day. Why did they have to be taken away from me so soon?

I get that there isn’t really a huge plot or twist but, sometimes that’s nice. All of our questions were answered quickly and thoroughly (except that very last one!!). I didn’t mind not being shocked or heartbroken in every episode. I liked the day-to-day dramas and real life feelings. I cried a ton but, not always because of something “bad,” the touching, heartfelt moments really got to me, too. Especially, “I can’t not love you” oh my gosh, my throat is closing up just thinking about that part.

This show isn’t even up in the air for a different network to pick up. It’s officially cancelled. I am beyond upset.

Good Girls
Season 02, 13 Episodes

IMDb Synopsis

Three suburban mothers suddenly find themselves in desperate circumstances and decide to stop playing it safe and risk everything to take their power back.

My Review

Season 02 of Good Girls was awesome. There was tons of action and suspense but the best part was how the trio’s friendship continued to grow stronger and stronger. Annie is a bit childish and often frustrating but, I still love her. The scenes with her son were absolutely moving. He is so cute and sweet to her. My heart also swelled up at the scenes with Ruby and her husband. Ugh, what an amazing guy.

My only complaint was that weird finale. It was confusing and even kind of boring but, I’m still looking forward to what’s in store for the “Good Girls” next season.

  1. No freaking way! I had heard such good things about The Village! I haven’t watched yet, but I wanted too! Now that I know it’s cancelled, should I even watch?? I don’t want to get upset lol and I LOVE Good Girls! There’s definitely things they could improve on to make the show more captivating but I just love the concept of the show.

    1. I am STILL crying about The Village being cancelled but yes, the first season is so worth it. You will feel so many emotions & the cliffhanger on the finale isn’t the worst. The rest of the episodes deserve your time!!

I agree about Good Girls! The concept is just so unique & fun! The trio of women are awesome, too!

  2. Haven’t watched any of these but I might have seen people mention it? Besides you, I mean. Idk.
And why was the village canceled? Not enough viewers or…?
I might give it a shot because you’re making it sound super good but idk if I’m ready to commit to another cancelled TV show 😭😭 I was watching one from FOX, The Passage, and last month (May) they announced they were cancelling because the viewership dropped each week. I was sooo devastated because I read all three books and it was written as if it would eventually become a TV show or movies, so I’m super crushed! The finale got me! Lol. Now I will never know what their idea of the future was lol

    1. The sad thing about The Village was that it did have a lot of viewers, it just didn’t beat This Is Us– the channel’s most popular drama. πŸ˜› I am still so sad about it, I never want to watch TV again lol. Let me know if you do ever give it a shot! I’m sorry your show was cancelled too! NOOO! That’s the worst!!

  3. Ooh looks like I need to get Hulu lol. I am struggling to find decent shows to watch at the moment. The Village sounds really, really good. It’s such a shame it’s been cancelled 😦 But I think I’m going to watch it as soon as I can πŸ˜€ Thanks for sharing Hunida!

    1. We actually just cancelled our Netflix subscription for now. Everything we watch is on Hulu! The Village was such a beautiful show. It really is a shame it was cancelled! 😦 I hope you enjoy it if you do watch it!!

  4. I like Good Girls. It wasn’t what I was expecting when I first started watching it, but the story line is really good. And you’re right: Ruby’s husband is the sweetest! If you’re looking for another show to watch, Lucifer on Netflix is pretty good.

    1. Yeah, I like Good Girls because the story line is totally unique & fun. Ruby’s husband is the best! & thanks for your rec. πŸ™‚ Boyfriend watched all of Lucifer on his own but I watched bits & pieces, too. Super interesting!

  5. Each time you write one of these posts, I find myself thinking, “I should get Hulu,” and then I go on with life without subscribing and it’s an endless cycle lol. These look good! I’m amazed that Hulu has so many different shows than Netflix, but it makes sense!

  6. I need to catch up on Good Girls. I saw it and added it to my queue then starting watching Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.

》》if you are committed to spending quite possibly another decade trying to figure out who the new “A” is then you should watch it. If not, the plot is more or less the same just in a new town with some new faces. I am one of those unfortunate souls now committed to another 10 year series because I couldn’t say no hahaha.

    1. I love Good Girls! It’s so fun. πŸ˜€ Let me know if you do catch up on it so we can chat but you know… I’m just waiting for Harlots to come back before I watch TV again lol. I never even watched the first Pretty Little Liars (please don’t hate me!!).

      1. I went to catch up on it on Hulu but the first 6 episodes weren’t on there anymore. So I guess when Netflix finally gets season 2 I’ll be able to catch up. AND YES where is Harlots at!? I’m also waiting on the next season of The Crown.

=0 you’ve never watched Pretty Little Liars!? You strike me as the type who would enjoy it. TBH– I thought it was absolutely horrible at first, I had a roommate who watched it and I would catch an episode every now and then when it had a marathon. Then one night while I was pregnant, I was bored and nothing else was on, and I just wanted something mindless to watch. So I watched it… the next day I went and binged the whole first four seasons just in time to catch the premiere. I don’t appreciate them continuously dragging out who the culprit was and I’m sure my suspicions are right in that it will happen again on this spin-off. I just started watching YOU

        1. I think the next season on Harlots will be out sometime in July! I cannot wait. I need to try The Crown still! & Pretty Little Liars played on TV in my rebellious teenage years when I was out & about, never home lol. My sister watched it & at that time it was “lame” to me. 😝

    1. Aw! Sorry you didn’t like Good Girls– it’s a bit different so I totally get it! I did try a few minutes of the Society but probably didn’t give it a fair chance. I actually just cancelled my Netflix sub though!

  7. I had recorded “The Village” and watched the first episode but there’s still like seven or eight in my DVR. Now that I know it’s canceled I probably won’t follow through with watching the rest of it.

  8. Ohhh such a bummer they cancelled The Village! I still need to watch Star!! Also- have you seen Big Little Lies? I watched it a long time ago but am restarting it for season two and forgot how great it was. I think you’d like it!

    1. I am SO sad about the cancellation of The Village & Star. I don’t know if I can handle investing myself into another show anymore…

I haven’t seen Big Little Lies because I don’t think it’s on Hulu lol. It looks so good though!!

      1. Oh dang you’re right- it’s on HBO. We were gonna cancel it after GOT, but I got sucked back in. I justify it by saying I will give up 3 trips to Starbucks or Peets a month 🀣 not sure I’m doing too well though. I hope you find a new amazing show in no time!! Handsmaids Tale did just start back up!

        Liked by 1 person

        1. I hope they put Big Little Lies on Hulu someday so I can watch it! I barely watch enough on there to justify the subscription but we gotta keep some TV around! We just got rid of Netflix though. πŸ˜› I have heard great things about Handsmaids Tale. I gotta give it a try!

          Liked by 1 person

          1. They really do need to release it everywhere- it’s such a phenomenally done show. When are all these different services just gonna merge so we don’t have to have different subscriptions at once?!

  9. Ah, I hate when they cancel my favorite shows…..it’s heartbreaking and frustrating! I haven’t watched or heard of any of these shows, but I would def watch them if I had a Hulu account.

    Much love always,
    Gabby

    1. It’s seriously so rude! Can’t they at least end it with all the happy endings instead of horrible cliffhangers?!

I totally recommend all of them still though if you do ever get Hulu. πŸ™‚
