Ipsy Glam Bag | May 2019

Hey beauty babes!! I’m back again. πŸ˜€ This time, I’m here to chat about the May 2019 Ipsy Glam Bag.

I swear, it just keeps getting better and better. This month, I received ALL cruelty-free brands and FOUR out of five were full-sized items.

The bag was a bit plain but, I can never really say “no” to sparkles and it fits the theme.

On the back of the postcard, it says that the Glam Bag Plus is now open to everyone— if you’re interested in that… don’t miss out and go sign up now!

What Was In My Bag?!

Theme: Daydream

Pretty Woman
Nail Polish in Platinum Status

Ipsy’s Description

This brand’s been known for fashion-forward colors and high-quality formulas since 2000, and this shade of silver nail polish is so chic we can wear it everywhere. Not only does it flatter so many skin tones, it’s fast-drying, long-lasting, chip-resistant, and cruelty-free.

My First Impressions

I like the brush shape of this nail polish. It’s flat and has rounded edges but, it isn’t super wide. It was easy to apply and it dried pretty quickly. I did experience some goopy-ness at the tips, though. One layer is a bit see-through but, the second one does the job. It almost looks metallic once completely opaque. I have worn it for nearly a week and haven’t noticed any chipping or peeling yet. I’m curious if the solid/plain colors from this brand perform just as well!

F.A.R.A.H. Brushes
22E Shade & Blend

Ipsy’s Description

This brand’s goal? To create luxurious, high-quality affordable products. This stylish, dual-ended brush is so versatile–use it to apply and blend shadow, contour, highlight, and more. Plus, who can resist that eye-catching iridescent handle?

My First Impressions

Is Ipsy going to eventually give me ALL of the F.A.R.A.H. brushes? I’ve already lost count of how many they’ve sent me. I do love ’em but, trying new brands is what I love more. I’m also not a big fan of double-ended brushes.

Pixi by Petra
H2O Skindrink

Ipsy’s Description

Founded by a working mom of 4, Pixi by Petra is all about products that make multitasking easy. Made with healthy ingredients like green tea, aloe vera, and rosemary extract, this skin-quenching gel formula cools, refreshes, heals, and protects skin.

My First Impressions

Hallelujah! I feel like the last person on Earth to try anything by Pixi. I kept seeing people receive different samples in their bags but, never once have I. I can’t recall if this is the exact moisturizer that beauty bloggers are raving about… but, either way– I can’t wait to see how it works for me.

Biorace
Intense Hydrating Spirulina Mask

Ipsy’s Description

Loaded with antioxidant-rich, free-radical fighting spirulina, this sheet mask saturates dry dehydrated skin with moisture. And we love how inclusive their brand’s mission is: Biorace focuses on natural beauty not only for women, but for all mankind.

My First Impressions

I rarely have complaints about sheet masks, they are always so gentle and nice. This one was no different. The serum wasn’t wet or dripping off the sheet when I pulled it out, it stuck snugly on my face, and didn’t irritate or redden my skin anywhere. After removing it and tapping/smoothing in the excess serum, I definitely feel more hydrated and plump.

Naked Cosmetics
Loose Pigment in Naturally Nude #02

Ipsy’s Description

Naked Cosmetics products are made without fillers like oils, wax, or talc that can be damaging to your skin. This highly-pigmented, finely-milled eyeshadow blends easy and will give your lids a beautiful pop of shimmering, golden sand color.

My First Impressions

I do not like loose powders/pigments. I will only use loose powder if it’s a translucent setting one. I’ve kept the safety seal on this and will be adding it into my giveaway (coming up in August)!!

Retail Value: $14.99
Cruelty-Free?

  1. Hah I’m with you on the Pixi train – I just starting trying their products this year!! I tried the Rose Balm and didn’t love it, but the moisturizer you received seems like it would be much better! I really want to try the Glow Tonic though. πŸ™‚

    1. Oh nooo, I’m sorry to hear you didn’t love the Rose Balm. I just saw your haul post including it earlier today! I hope the moisturizer is nicer. πŸ˜› I would love to try that Glow Tonic, too!

      1. To be fair, it was moisturizing and plumping … it just doesn’t play well sunscreen or foundation… so it’s good for the nighttime or for no makeup days! ☺️ But super curious for your thoughts on the Moisturizer you received!

Also, did you see that Ipsy is releasing a limited edition collaboration with Tetris for Glam Bag subscribers? Not sure if all subscribers receive it or if you have to buy it specially but def thought of you when I saw Ipsy was releasing a custom collab!

        1. Ohh, I see. I’ve heard of moisturizers not playing well with face makeup! Sounds terrible. I wasn’t a fan of the moisturizer I received either. It inflamed all my cheek spots.

Tetris? As in the old school game!? I hope it’s for all subscribers. I’m totally interested. I’ll look into it right now. Thank you for the heads up!!

    1. I’m excited for the Pixi moisturizer. πŸ™‚ I hope it works as well for me as it does for everyone else!

I do think the Naked pigment is pretty & will probably look nice on but, I am too messy for it LOL.

  2. Ooh how fantastic that all the items are cruelty free and 4 out of 5 products were full size. What a great subscription. I seriously need to check out if Ipsy ship to the UK. The little postcard is too cute and has totally inspired me to send my friends some cute little cards or something AND buy myself flowers because self love ftw hehe. And that nail colour is so cute, totally unique and different! It’s great that it’s been a week and you haven’t noticed any chips or peeling. πŸ™‚
I love makeup brushes so I’d be thrilled to receive them. I’m the type of person who can never have too many makeup brushes although I kind of agree about the double ended brushes. I’m not such a fan. I’d rather just have two brushes. I feel like double ended brushes are harder to store and I only really get the use out of one end! So just a waste of time really.
And nooo! You’re totally not the last person on Earth to try Pixi. I have never used their products before, I don’t even know if they are sold here in the UK! But I see them mentioned on blogs often, I think Rossy has posted about them before!? Anyway, I hope you love the moisturiser. Even from the name it sounds like it would be so hydrating and leave skin feeling so fresh! I want to try!
I’m actually not a fan of sheet masks 😦 But maybe I’m using them wrong LOL because I don’t think I smooth in the excess serum or anything but I just prefer normal masks you apply like clay masks? Or peel masks! But still, I’m glad yours worked for you and that you liked it!
Thanks for sharing Hunida, this was such an enjoyable post and it seems like you got a great Ipsy bag this month. So excited to see what’s in store for next months!

    1. Right? I absolutely love that all of the items were cruelty-free. There are other sub boxes that charge lots more just because they promise that! & I can’t believe that they mostly send full-sized items lately, it’s crazy… like two sheet masks? It’s amazing. SADLY, they only ship to USA & Canada. 😦 I hope they expand internationally someday soon!! It really is such a nice service.

The card was super pretty & girly this month. You are always coming up with the loveliest ideas! Sending your friends little cards would be the sweetest & YESS! Def get yourself those flowers. ❀

The nail color is totally unique. πŸ™‚ I loved the formula, too! & I am always thrilled to receive a makeup brush, don't get me wrong… I've just seen other people getting makeup brushes by different brands & I seem to only get F.A.R.A.H. ones but maybe I am just being a brat LOL. πŸ˜› I am so happy you feel me on the double-ended part though. They are super hard to store!

OH WOW! Yay!! It's nice to know I am not the only one out of the Pixi loop, hehe. I think Rossy has posted about them before & a couple other bloggers I follow, too. I am super looking forward to trying the moisturizer. πŸ˜€

Oh really?! Why is it that you're not a fan of the sheet masks? Is it because of the extra serum left on your skin? I'm willing to try any clay or peel-off mask, I do like them too, but, I'm just so messy with them LOL.

Thank you, Jennie!! Can't wait to chat about next month's bag with you!! ❀

      1. It’s so good, that’s a shame about the other boxes charging more just for being cruelty free 😦 Being that it’s Cruelty Free they should just charge less to introduce more people to these amazing products AND they’d probably make more of a profit too, because more people are going to be able to afford to subscribe to them! Shoutout to Ipsy though, it seems great! And the full size items is a real win! It does seem great, if I was too subscribe to a beauty box like this Ipsy would be my go too. Maybe they’ll open up Ipsy Europe or something, like a sister brand πŸ™‚

I love the card. So positive and uplifting! Aw thanks Hunida, well it did suggest sending your friends cute notes so I love how the brand is spreading positivity. Omg I totally can’t wait to get the flowers, so pretty ❀

Oh okay that's understandable then, clearly these FARAH brushes are meant for you LOL. Have you ever tried Spectrum brushes? They are my GO TO at the moment!!!

Yes I knew I had seen Rossy post about them! Literally, if it wasn't for you guys I don't think I'd have heard of them. Please let me know if the moisturisers good once you've tried it! I'd love to know!

I think it's because I feel like they don't actually reach my skin if that makes sense? Like I'm literally just putting a sheet over my face it's hard to explain but I feel like the ones you properly apply to the skin just work for me better, even if it's just in my mind! YES to be fair, the clay and peel off masks can be very messy, whereas sheet masks aren't! I love how there are versatility in these products, face masks to suit everyone and their needs. Some like sheet masks, others prefer clay masks and if you don't want mess, the sheet masks are a saviour!

Yes! I look forward to it!

        1. I totally agree! If cruelty-free items cost less, a lot more people would be able to transition over to using them. It surprises me that Ipsy hasn’t started up in Europe or anywhere else! They really should!

LOL oh man. I didn’t even read the card, to be honest!! I had no idea that’s what it said until now hahaha.

I haven’t tried Spectrum brushes! I would love to though. Let me look them up, hehe.

Oh gosh, I used the Pixi moisturizer yesterday & wasn’t a fan!! It was terrible. I think it’s a different one that others rave about.

That makes total sense why you don’t like the sheet masks! It does feel more effective when you are spreading the clay/peel-offs into your skin whereas the sheet just sits.

  3. Looks like your bag this month was better than mine. The Naked cosmetics eye pigments are always so pretty, but I agree that I don’t like loose powders either. They’re messy.

I also got the Farah brush and the H20 Skindrink, but I haven’t tried either yet.

One of the products Ipsy sent me this month I was so mad about that I almost canceled right then and there. lol They sent me a bronzer, but I kid you not, the shade is so dark that it looks like it’s for a POC. Definitely not for someone pale like myself, and it would even be too dark for someone with more olive skin, like you. I did test it out anyway, and it looked like I smeared dirt on my face. It looked so bad! There was no blending it or getting it to look good with my skin tone. It also sunk straight into my pores, making them look enlarged and dirty. Now I’m getting mad all over again. lol I’ve never been this upset over a product they’ve sent me before. In my review on their site, I said whoever picked that shade for me should be fired. πŸ˜›

    1. Aww, I’m sorry your bag wasn’t as good! The Naked Cosmetics pigment does look really pretty but, I’d rather not bother. I am too messy for those kinds of products lol.

I know I’ll love the brush, it looks & feels nice but I haven’t tried it yet either. I’m so excited for the Pixi moisturizer. I’m curious to know how they both work out for you!

Ahhh!! That bronzer sounds terrible. What brand was it?!? I hope they see your review & have a talk with who ever put it in your bag. Maybe it was a mistake & you can get an extra item next month or something!?

      Liked by 1 person

  4. Ooh love the sound of that mask! I like that it wasn’t dripping or anything because sometimes those sheets masks are just too wet lol.
I’ve also never liked or understood the point of loose pigments. Other than like setting powders, but for eyeshadows? That just seems like a great way to get too much and have a lot of fallout haha!
That nail polish is gorgeous! I always love the metallic shades!
How great that everything in this box was cruelty-free! Way to go, Ipsy!! ❀

    Liked by 2 people

    1. I know! I hate when they are super drippy lol. I have to hold it over the sink for a minute before I even put it on. πŸ˜›

I like how loose pigment eyeshadows look when used wet & they’re easier to apply that way but still… too much of a hassle for me! & yes always tons of fallout on your cheeks!!

The metallic shades seem to dry the fastest. I love them, too. πŸ˜€

I hope next month is another completely cruelty-free bag!! I think they gave me a brush made out of goat hair last month… :/ & I loved it too…

      Liked by 1 person

      1. That’s actually a good idea to hold those sheet masks over the sink first to determine how drippy they are, lol!

The metallic shades are sooo pretty.

Ugh goat hair for a brush, that’s so gross! I hope they keep up the cruelty-free products for sure!! πŸ™‚

  5. Wth I missed this on my feed πŸ™„
That silver nail polish is so pretty! Ooh maybe perfect for the holidays.
Pretty brush. I’m not a fan of double sided ones either they’re hard to store lol.
I was gonna say I havent tried anything from pixi but forgot I have a blush highlighter duo. Super gorgeous and pigmented. Is this skindrink product a moisturizer?
I have one of those naked cosmetics loose powders. I liked the shade, super pretty but I dont usually choose to use those either. I really should try though.

    Liked by 2 people

    1. Ah! So annoying when WordPress bumps people off the feed. 😑

I agree about the nail polish! It would be nice for December or January. πŸ™‚ & yeah, the brush is gonna get ruined either way you store it. Not a good design at all lol.

Ohhh Jennie & I were thinking that you had actually posted about Pixi before for some reason. πŸ˜› I did see the blush duo in your Favorites post though! It looked so nice!! & yes, the skindrink is a moisturizer but, not one that I recommend!!

The loose powder was a pretty color but meh, it’s just too messy for someone like me lol.

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Oh haha Cleia has actually received PR packages from Pixi. I’ve only gotten that blush duo from ipsy I believe. I still want to try their skincare but I’ve been finding much cheaper gems lol.

          1. Their toner I hear almost everyone rave about it. Target has little travel bottles or the glow tonic I think, maybe ill try that first haha I’m about to run out of my current toner soon anyway

            Liked by 1 person

              1. I am thinking on whether I should buy the sample size to try because I’m really digging the rose petal toner I got LOL I might.. Just to try.. Their products are a little more mid range in price

                Liked by 1 person

                  1. They don’t. I’d say they’re more mid-range. Sonia Kashuk too. I think that’s how you spell it? LOL I’ve been meaning to try her stuff too but I can’t dish out that much money for a fucking brush LMAO

                    Liked by 1 person

                    1. I’ve never tried anything by Sonia Kashuk except eyelashes once or twice but, I can’t say if they were good or bad because I used to take 3-4 hours trying to apply any kind LOL. Is her brand only at Target?
