On My Block (2018-TBD)

Season 02, 10 Episodes

IMDb Synopsis

A coming-of-age story about four bright, street-savvy friends navigating their way through high school in the gritty inner city of South Central Los Angeles. Dealing with the danger of getting their friend out of a gang and friends turning into romance, danger is constant.

My Review

I am absolutely in love with On My Block. Season 02 was packed with just as much action and drama as Season 01 but, it was even better this time around because our connection with the characters is much, much stronger. These kids are just so talented. Their friendship is beautiful and proven unbreakable in every episode. It’s hard for me to choose a favorite but, I’d have to go with Ruby, if forced to. I just want to squeeze him. I also loved that Jasmine was included more in this season– she is too freakin’ funny. I laughed, I cried, I “awww-ed.” I went through every emotion, feeling almost like an actual part of their group and I can’t wait to do it again for Season 03 (hopefully).

A Million Little Things (2018-Present)

Season 01, 17 Episodes

IMDb Synopsis

A group of friends become motivated to living fuller lives after the unexpected death of a close friend.

My Review

A Million Little Things reminded me of Desperate Housewives. Only the roles were switched and we were in the husbands’ drama instead of the wives’. It has the same main story line, the same mystery to solve… but, you’re not going to find me complaining… Desperate Housewives is one of my all-time favorite shows and it has been long enough since I watched it. I was absolutely READY for another jaw-dropping, heartbreaking, tearjerker.

There are a few different characters to follow and stories to unfold. I was interested in seeing each and every one but, no matter how many times we were swayed to, I couldn’t find the love or any kind of sympathy for Delilah… For the rest of them, I was easily able to feel deeply. Maggie and Gary both made me upset so many times, yet I couldn’t help but favor them the very most. The last episode was truly satisfying. We weren’t left on any annoying cliffhangers and all of our questions were answered. I’m still thirsting to drink up more of their lives next season though!

The Act (2019-TBD)

Season 01, 08 Episodes

IMDb Synopsis

An anthology series that tells startling, stranger-than-fiction true crime stories, including a girl trying to escape her overprotective and abusive mother.

My Review

I know a lot of you watched this series along with me so PLEASE, share your thoughts in the comments. We need to discuss all things Gypsy Rose.

Boyfriend started watching with me from the first episode but, he couldn’t make it to the end. Seeing what her mom put her through for all those years made us both sick to our stomachs. He still continuously asked what happened in each episode though because… let’s admit it, we were all more interested than we should’ve been.

The actors and actresses that were chosen were more than phenomenal and the events that took place were unbelievable. My one complaint is that it wasn’t shown in chronological order. I just hate time jumps… the story always gets spoiled that way.

I said I would look up the real story when I finished the last episode but, I haven’t been able to. I wasn’t at all happy with the ending. I wish things went so differently but, of course, The Act would’ve never came to be if it had.

My Rating: 4 out of 5

    1. Ahhh hi Mia ๐Ÿ™‚ On My Block is so cute, their friendship is the best. I hope you like it if you watch it & I’ll give Sex Education a shot!!

  1. I’m not familiar with On My Block and was never into The OC.

I know I complain a lot about A Million Little Things, but after that S1 Finale I’m even more hooked that I was before so you can count on me to watch S2!!!!

Gypsy Rose…what a piece of work that girl is!!!!! I mean, it’s not her fault. Look what all her Mom put her through. On top of all the psychological damage, I can’t imagine a lifetime of feeding tubes and medications she didn’t need were doing her any good.

    But still!!!!!

I did read up on her after what I THOUGHT was the last episode but wasn’t. Did I ever find out why she’s suing the show though? Probably wants money. Let do a quick google. Yep. Money. It’s actually the dad and step mother who are instigating it, of course.

Are you going to watch the HBO documentary “Mommy Dead and Dearest.” about Gypsy? I don’t have A PLAN to watch it but might watch it at some point.

I just watched a 15 minute video of Gypsy testifying in court. The actress that played her did a good job with her facial expressions. She seems like such a sweet girl.

    1. On My Block is a Netflix Original. I really loved it & you might, too. ๐Ÿ™‚

Awww that makes me so happy to hear! The finale was so satisfying, right? I can’t wait for Season 02!

Oh wow, I kind of see why they’re suing the show. It could sway audiences to believe she shouldn’t be released. I feel like she is a little bit dangerous & evil though… not everyone resorts to murder. & I feel bad for Nick still. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

I don’t think I’ll watch the documentary. I get bored easily of those lol. I do think I wanna see the 15 min video of Gypsty testifying in court though. Is it on YouTube?

        1. Ahhh oh my gosh, thank you for sending that to me. Wow! The actress did her voice so well. I feel so bad for Nick still but the show kind of made Gypsy seem like she didn’t even admit to all the stuff when she actually did. I wish I could see the rest of that testifying video!

  2. I canโ€™t believe I havenโ€™t heard of On My Block! Ok, need to watch asap. And I need to catch up on a million little things AND the Act. I still have maybe 15 minutes of the final episode of The Act โ€“ then going to watch the documentary. I canโ€™t remember- did you watch the documentary too? I am guessing no based on the fact you had a hard time looking it up- but I felt the same way. I was sick to my stomach watching basically the entire series- so wild!!! I just cannot wrap my head around the fact that this actually happened!

    1. Yessss, watch On My Block asap. It’s such a quick show, but SO GOOD. Let me know when you catch up with A Million Little Things & The Act! Would love to hear your thoughts!!

I haven’t watched the documentary (probably won’t) but, I might watch the real Gypsy testify in court. It’s so scary that these kinda things happen in real life. Like we are living our normal lives while people are suffering & coming up with murder schemes. It’s WILD!

      1. It really is soooo bizarre! I just watched the Ted Bundy movie yesterday since I watched the documentary when it came out– it focused more on the side of him with his family- and the fact that he was able to fool his wife for so long & how she had no idea is just baffling…!
