Ipsy Glam Bag PLUS | April 2019

Hey beauty babes!! I’m sorry if you were expecting a Journal Entry from me today– I have a play to attend later so, I’ll be writing one including a review on that tomorrow. πŸ™‚

Today, I’m here to show you what I got in my Ipsy Glam Bag PLUS this month!

What Was In My Box?

Theme: Bloom

Benefit Cosmetics
High Brow Eyebrow Highlighter

Ipsy’s Description

When your brows need a lift, look no further than this creamy highlighter brow pencil. The matte, linen-pink shade pops on and accentuates your arches for brighter, lifted, younger-looking eyes.

My First Impressions & Thoughts

First of all, the packaging is extra fancy– I always love the artwork for Benefit Cosmetics but, what I’m really talking about is that pencil cap. Damn!! It’s beautiful. I also love the chubbiness.

The product applied smoothly and evenly, it was super soft so not too much pressure is needed. The shade is a bit light and I’m wondering if it is meant to be ‘universal’? I am hoping it will blend into my concealer nicely.

Retail Value: $22
Cruelty-Free? No

Feel Beauty
Balanced Moisture Balancing Cream

Ipsy’s Description

When your medicine cabinet gets cluttered, consolidate your resources with a moisturizer that works on your face and body. Apply this cocktail of cucumber, lime and elder tree extract to help soothe your skin, reduce inflammation and hydrate for 24 hours. Best of all, there’s no greasy finish.

My First Impressions & Thoughts

Okay… the scent of this is ODD!! It smells almost chemical-filled like, a piercing/tattoo shop. After application, I start to smell the cucumber and lime a little bit then, nothing. I can handle that– it’s just weird and a little unpleasant.

The cream felt nice on my skin, it sunk in right away and I can attest to their claims of ‘no greasy finish.’ I only tried it on my legs because my stomach has a rash from a previous body lotion right now… it took a couple uses for the rash to surface with that one though, so I won’t make any comments about the effects of this one.

Paris Hilton Skincare
ProD.N.A. Dual-Action Cleansing Gel

Ipsy’s Description

You might not be an actual heiress, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have rich-girl skin. This cleansing gel is infused with exfoliating caviar lime and pineapple-derived enzymes to brighten skin, cucumber to depuff, and white tea extract to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and help repair sun damage.

My First Impressions & Thoughts

I’m excited to try this! I see a lot of Paris Hilton’s products at Ross but, was never sure on what I should pick up. All of the ingredients in the description sound delicious– hopefully my skin agrees with my tongue. πŸ˜‰

Lovecraft Beauty
Bronzer Palette

Ipsy’s Description

In search of a goddess-worthy glow? This trio of buildable, light-reflecting bronzer shades will dial up the sun tone in your skin and leave you with an island glow–no plane ticket necessary. Enter Lovecraft Beauty, with products formulated by makeup artist Francelle Daly, the brand is part skincare, part color cosmetics and 100% magic.

My First Impressions & Thoughts

Before I started getting all these sub boxes, I only used highlighter on my cheeks. I’m starting to use blush more often now that I have so many good ones BUT, bronzers never seemed to work out for me. The shades in this one are my cup of tea and they felt velvety smooth on my finger. I may be able to start working in a bronzer now, too!

Laura Sanchez
Moods Eyeshadow and Highlighter Palette

Ipsy’s Description

Mood swings get a bad rap but sometimes they can inspire different makeup looks. Score! This all-in-one palette is loaded with matte and metallic shades of cheek and eye colors–an option for any mood you’re in. Now you’re equipped to express all the feels. This Colombian makeup artist was NYX FACE’s 2016 Beauty Vlogger of the Year(!) and her brand is all about bold color and self expression.

My First Impression & Thoughts

I don’t know who this Laura Sanchez is but, girl has got an EYE for art and pretty colors. I’ve never seen more stunning and wildly creative packaging designs. The box was different from the palette itself and even the backs of both were well thought out. I also love how she used an emoji for each shade name.

The highlighters were crazy. They gave off a super high shine that I was not at all expecting. In their pans, they looked almost dull but, their swatches blew me away. I can’t wait to try it all on!!

  1. So many new brands I’ve never heard of in this month’s box. The packaging of the Moods Palette is so stunning.

The Benefit High Brow Pencil used to be my staple for defining my brows, but I had the shimmery, more yellow-champaign color in the old packaging (before they revamped their entire brow line). The pencil used to go on super light, but then it blended out nicely when buffed with dense, fluffy brush. I really like the pinky color you received though – hope it works out for you!

    1. I know!! So exciting to see all these different brands working with Ipsy now. πŸ™‚

OH! That’s interesting to know that the High Brow pencil comes in other shades. I’ll try blending in it with a fluffy, dense brush! Thanks for the tip! ❀

  2. I hope you get on with the Paris Hilton body lotion and it doesn’t irritate your skin! I didn’t know she did beauty products…

The colours in the eye/check palette are stunning! I see what you mean about those highlighters – have fun creating looks with it πŸ™‚

    1. She has a ton of beauty products but, I have no idea where they are originally sold?! Maybe just online? Hopefully it works nice!

I love the eye/cheek palette!! I was amazed by those highlighters– I’m glad you can tell by my shoddy photos LOL.

        1. It’s a totally different girl because when I went onto her makeup site, there were pictures of her all over & she wasn’t the same lol. Aw I’d love to try a Juvia’s Palette sometime, too. πŸ˜€

          1. Oh ok haha. I guess that is probably a common name! I actually just got another Juvia’s because it was on sale lol. I have three now! I love the two I have and have used. I literally just got the other one and have only stared at it πŸ˜‚

  3. Oh lots of brands that haven’t been on Ipsy yet that’s pretty awesome. Laura Sanchez is a beauty vlogger that won the nyx face awards, I wanna say….almost two years ago? Pretty awesome to see relatively new ish brands popping up on subscriptions. All these products look really good.

    1. Oh! That’s what it says in the booklet. I didn’t even know what the NYX Face Awards was either lol. πŸ˜› I looked up Laura Sanchez and this model/actress from a diff country showed up. Either way, the palette is beautiful!!

I love seeing all these different & newer brands showing up in subscriptions, too! πŸ˜€

  4. I think it’s SO interesting that the cream works as a body lotion & a face moisturizer. Usually our faces are so much more sensitive, so I’m really curious about how this will work! That’s really weird about the smell, though, lol.
Also, I completely agree–that brow highlighter packaging is gorgeous!! How extra, Benefit!! They know what’s up. πŸ˜‰

    1. YEAH, I would probably use face moisturizer on my body but never would I put something labeled “body lotion” on my face. I thought it was interesting, too but, I won’t be using it on my face because of that weird scent. πŸ˜›

LOL Benefit really was extra with that pencil cap, huh?? It’s so pretty though!!
