My Review

Yum, yum, yummy! The chimichurri sauce was so fresh with a nice sour tang. I had never tried harissa seasoning before but, I plan to use it more and more now. It was lovely atop the sweet potatoes. The wilted chards on the side were the perfect touch, too (boyfriend added in some diced onions– highly recommended!).

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • ΒΎ pound sweet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons fresh flat-leaf parsley chopped
  • 2 sprigs fresh oregano chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh cilantro chopped
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons fresh garlic peeled and minced
  • Β½ pound chard
  • 1 teaspoon harissa powder
  • 1 lime
  • Two 6-ounce top sirloin steaks

Ground Turkey Stir-Fry

My Review

I’ve had this dish with beef before and I think I prefer it that way. It was still good with turkey– just a little different. I would have liked some more basil but, the recipe does say “to taste,” so that was our fault. The fish sauce flavor was almost overwhelming. Luckily, the honey saved it a bit.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 2 T fresh-squeezed or fresh-frozen lime juice
  • 1 T fish sauce
  • 1 T Sriracha Sauce
  • 1 T soy sauce
  • 1 T Agave Nectar (we used raw honey)
  • 1 onion, cut in slivers
  • 1 red bell pepper, cut in thin strip
  • 1 T + 1 tsp. high smoke point oil (we used EVOO)
  • 2-3 large cloves garlic, cut in slices
  • 1-2 cups chopped basil leaves or Thai basil leaves (more or less to taste)
  • 1 1/2 lb. lean ground turkey

(Paleo) Shrimp Chowder

Recipe found on The Roasted Root
My Rating: 5 out of 5

My Review

What a hit! The shrimps in this were so perfectly juicy and the broth was thick like a chowder– just not creamy like a traditional one. I loved every single bite! There was a good amount of veg and all the amounts of flavor.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 2 Tbsp avocado oil or olive oil
  • 1/2 medium yellow onion finely chopped
  • 1 small jewel yam peeled and chopped
  • 2 large carrots peeled and chopped
  • 2 stalks celery chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 cups chicken broth divided
  • 1 Tbsp cider vinegar
  • 1 California Avocado peeled and diced
  • 1.5 Tbsp ground paprika *
  • .5 to .75 pounds raw shrimp de-veined
  • 1 Tbsp dried parsley
  • 1 tsp sea salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine optional
  • red pepper flakes
  • dried parsley

  1. We just discovered Chimichurri last week- and it is SO good! I made DJ some steak bowls, but I am totally gonna have to make it with sweet potatoes next time. That flavor combo sounds awesome- and homemade chimichurri sauce I’m sure is next level!!! So excited about these recipes! When DJ is accepting turkey dinners again I’ll have to try that second recipe, and you know I’m drooooling over the shrimp chowder. Thanks for sharing, girl πŸ™‚

  2. I’ve heard of chimichurri but I’ve never had it and everyone says it’s so good lol. Also, what is harissa seasoning?

    1. Chimichurri is so yummy. It’s like a super fresh version of pesto without the cheese & more garlic/freshness. I think you’d like it! & I’m not exactly sure what harissa seasoning is lol, it just comes like all the other spices & says “harissa” on the bottle. It tastes kind of like a spicy salt but more unique, I guess? πŸ˜› Try the chowder when you can!! It was so good!!

Sorry about my terrible explanations 😭

Chimichurri tho… Until last year i didn’t know what it was. Ordered it with some steak once, only to realize to my horror that it was full of coriander/cilantro πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

  4. I imagine beef would have a bit more flavor than turkey, so it makes sense that you would like the beef stir-fry more! That shrimp chowder sounds and looks AMAZING! Oh my gosh I need to make it! Yum!!
