Boxycharm | April 2019

Hey there my fellow beauty lovers! πŸ™‚ I’m back again to unbox and discuss this month’s Boxycharm with you. The theme and postcard both get a thumbs up from me because how freakin’ cute, right?!

What Was In My Box?!

Theme: Peace, Love & Boxy

Bang Beauty
Chocolate Eyeliner

Boxycharm’s Description

Use it as an eyeliner, eyeshadow base, or even to touch-up your brows, this creamy, chocolate toned pomade is the ultimate triple threat.

My First Impressions & Thoughts

I don’t know how I’m going to use this. It was so sticky and hard to swirl my finger in. I couldn’t run the product across smoothly and lots of chunks were left–that worries me.

Retail Value: $22

Appeal Cosmetics
Holographic Lip Gloss

Boxycharm’s Description

Deliver intense, holographic shine to your lips with this Appeal Cosmetics exclusive launch. The holographic lip gloss works well alone or on top of your favorite lippie, giving it a multidimensional, argan oil infused shine.

My First Impressions & Thoughts

I didn’t really notice a holographic effect while wearing it on my lips but, I can kind of see it now looking at the photo above. The formula wasn’t too sticky nor drying and there was no offensive scent. I can’t wait to try it as a lip topper though, I know it’s going to look way better!

Retail Value: $21
Cruelty-Free? Unsure

Artist Couture
Diamond Glow Powder in Purple Dream

Boxycharm’s Description

The all-natural, vegan, and cruelty free loose powder highlight can be used on the eyes, lips, face and body. The versatile formula is highly pigmented and suitable for all skin tones! Create a subtle luminous finish or layer on for an unreal glow.

My First Impressions & Thoughts

At first, I was bored when I saw this in my box. THEN, I saw the name “PURPLE Dream” and I knew I had to try it. The powder looks like a bronzey gold sitting all packed together in the jar but, once you actually apply and blend it, you instantly see the purple. I don’t have any other fun colors like this in my collection so I’m happy to have finally received one!

Retail Value: $27

Luxie
The Summer Daze 3-Piece Brush Set

Boxycharm’s Description

The Luxie Summer Daze 3 piece brush set was curated for the perfect festival look that will last all day. Use the Luxie 512 Small Contouring brush to sculpt and define your cheekbones while the Luxie 245 Small Shader brush is perfect to pat on your base shadow and glitter. Grab the Luxie 209 Large Shader brush to pat on and blend out any eye look.

My First Impressions & Thoughts

Send me all the Luxie brushes, please! The handles of this set are so cute and sturdy. I used the middle-sized brush for eyeshadow and it worked beautifully– I can only imagine the other two work just as nice.

Retail Value: $28

PÜR The Complexion Authority
Festival Pressed Pigment Palette

Boxycharm’s Description

Unleash the ultimate festival vibes with this limited-edition, 12-piece pressed pigment palette that’s complete with bold, imaginative pigments that elevate your look for any occasion. From boho inpsired metallics, to eye catching glitters, each cruelty-free shade is infused with skin-loving ingredients.

My First Impressions & Thoughts

Fun fun fun!! I love the pink and purple shades in the middle of the palette. I also love the glitters because I actually don’t have any in my collection. They were sticky without any type of glue or primer (so cool!) but, they are a bit hard to work with; chunky and not easily spread. The top 4 shades (Free Spirit, Psychedelic, Good Vibes, and Peace) performed AMAZINGLY during the swatch test I did (down below) while the rest of the shades weren’t as good– it’s not to say they were bad at all. The top 4 just felt the softest on my fingers and applied super evenly and extra pigmented.

I wore Good Vibes all over my eyelids with a primer underneath and it lasted 4+ hours, vibrant as I first put it on. It was a piece of cake to blend but, it did need a few layers to create the kind of depth I was looking for. The middles of my lids did crease a little as well.

  1. The swatches from the palette are pretty, I haven’t seen pure glitter shades done right to be honest, they seem hard to work with and patchy – shimmers are a lot easier to work with! The purple powder looks neat, it would look great used in conjunction with the lip topper and one of your lip colours πŸ™‚

    1. Yeah, they were really hard to spread evenly and the sparkles would bunch up a lot but, I was wondering if ALL glitters are like that? Shimmers really are the best to work with. πŸ™‚

The purple powder is super neat! & you’re right, it would look awesome with the lip topper over a fun color! I’ll have to try that!!

  2. Aww, I love the theme with the cactuses–how cute!! 🌡I also think the lipgloss would look really pretty on top of another lipstick! The palette is super stunning. It always seems like glitter shadows would be hard to blend, but they still look really gorgeous! The brushes are adorable too! x

    1. I loved the cacti, too. So adorable!! ❀ I am really hoping the lipgloss will give off more of a holographic look on top of a color & I agree about the palette & brushes! πŸ˜€

    1. Luxie brushes are always so cute & they work nicely, too. They do include them in sub boxes quite a lot though so I see why people get upset to receive them now.

I can’t wait to try the purple powder! πŸ™‚

  3. I got that Bang brand pot in a previous box and ended up throwing it away 😦 I couldn’t get it to work for me at all. The only I saw people have with it was to use a brush and fill in their brows. But I got the same highlighter as you and it’s now one of my favorites!! It’s gorgeous on 😍 Some people got an orange-ish shade but I like the purple way more. I hope you love it!

    1. Oh nooo, I think I’ll end up throwing it away, too. I have no idea how to use it! It would look scary in my already messy & thick brows lol.

I cannot wait to try the highlighter. I saw it in your post today & fell in love even more. So glad I didn’t get the orange shade!! OH & I forgot to mention, I had the hardest time opening it, too LOL.

      1. Haha! It was the hardest thing I makeup I’ve ever opened πŸ˜‚ But I have been using it ever since! I might switch to using only loose highlighters lol…so pretty!
Sorry about the Bang Beauty thing… I’m not real sure what they were thinking when they made that lol

  4. Hey we almost got the same box lol.
When I got that chocolate liner I put it away I’m not gonna use it. If you do however, I recommend a small angled brush for like a wing. But if you had trouble with it it may actually not be a great product lol.
I didn’t notice the holographic-ness (that’s not a word) of the product either. I’m hoping it does look better as a lip topper.
Oh my gosh I would have loved the purple dream powder in my collection!! I think I got diamond glow. The powder feels finely milled which is amazing.
Of course I love the brushes. PUR products are hit or miss for me so we’ll see how the palette performs for me. Cant wait to play with it.

    1. That chocolate liner is really weird. It’s so super sticky & chunky… I should have just put it in the giveaway box… someone else may be better for it lol.

Yeah, the lip gloss looked really boring on my lips. It was barely even shiny! I saw some other bloggers post photos with it as a topper & I didn’t see a huge holographic effect either though…

Wait, I think they all say Diamond Glow on the front of the box. Maybe you did get the purple one? It just looks brown/gold in the tub! The powder is really soft & finely milled! I can’t wait to try it on my cheeks. πŸ™‚

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the palette! I love the colors of it but, feel the shadows (minus the top row) aren’t the very best? I don’t know. πŸ˜›

      1. yeah exactly, if it doesn’t work for you, it might for someone else πŸ™‚
i tried it and same, what a let down because i was actually excited to use it as a lip topper … booo
lmao i gave you the wrong name haha i wasnt paying attention, mine is summer haze. if it was the purple one i would have noticed when i swatched it, it was just a bronze-gold shade.. it’s really pretty.

  5. The postcard is so cute with the cacti! That’s awesome you got a 3 piece Luxie brush set since they normally only send 1 in a box! Also the palette looks gorgeous with the pop of purple & pink!

    1. Isn’t it?! I loved the postcard this month. πŸ˜€ & you’re right! They do usually only send one, so it was super nice getting a whole set! The palette is even prettier in person!!

  6. The eyeshadow palette and highlight look pretty! Those Luxie brushes look awesome! I love their brushes! I got that eyeliner in a box a while back before I canceled and I really didn’t like it. I hope you have a better experience. I heard about some people using it as a brow gel, but the color didn’t work for me so I couldn’t use it for that either.

    1. I think the palette & highlighter were my fave in this box but, the brushes were nice, too! πŸ™‚ I’m a bit scared to use that Bang Beauty stuff… may just toss it out without even trying it on my face.

  7. Love those brushes!! They kind of look like a sunset, so pretty! That eyeshadow palette is too fun! They were right about it being perfect for festival season for sure. Too bad the glitters were hard to spread, but I bet they’d be great to add a pop on top of other eyeshadows!
