Hiiii!!! I hope you’ve missed me as much as I’ve missed you. ❀

On April 3rd, my dad and his wife flew into Las Vegas. They didn’t arrive until near midnight so, we didn’t see them for the first time until the 4th (my dad’s birthday).

Boyfriend and I woke up around 2 PM. After we both showered and smoked a blunt, the adventures began. My dad and his wife came to pick us up in their rental car then, we headed to Golden Nugget so they could check into their room. My dad had free nights there for the 4th-8th but, had to pay to stay at the El Cortez for their first night.

When he finished checking in and lollygagging around, we headed to Caesar’s Palace to stuff our faces at the famous Bacchanal Buffet.

There was a bit of a line when we first arrived so, naturally, I took some photos of my surroundings while we waited. I was fascinated by the lights (above) because the light bulb “shades” were all glass cups. Did you notice that right away or no?!

I sneaked a quick photo while boyfriend and my dad’s wife were on their phones… but, as usual, boyfriend caught me and joined in. πŸ™‚

The food was mediocre and the price is a little absurd. Boyfriend and I had been once before and had the same experience so while it’s worth a one-time trip, we won’t be returning. It was fun showing my dad and his wife the crazy amount of options they had though!

When we finished eating, we went back to the Golden Nugget and walked up and down Fremont Street for awhile. Then, we sat down to gamble a bit on the machines. My dad’s wife gave boyfriend and I some money to put in but, we all pretty much lost, lol. It’s only fun when you aren’t using your own money, right?! πŸ˜‰

They ended up dropping us off at home around 1 AM. We came home to play a little Skate 3 together before bed.

The next day, April 5th, boyfriend and I woke up at 2 PM again… even though we really tried to get up earlier. My dad and his wife picked us up right after I got out of the shower and we hadn’t even finished our blunt yet. We had to put it out halfway, lol.

They told us to choose the food spot even though it was his wife’s birthday. We asked her if she wanted Thai food and she agreed to it but, I’m not positive it’s actually what she wanted. She kind of just says “yes” to everything, y’know? πŸ˜› I hope she liked it as much as we do!

Weera is our number one favorite spot so, that’s where we brought them. My dad’s wife ordered the Pad Kee Mao after I did but, she had hers with a mix of seafood and mine was just with shrimp.

We ordered the Laos style papaya salad with blue crab to share but, since we got it at the highest level of spicy… my dad and his wife barely ate it, lol. My dad gets major heartburn and I didn’t know that his wife doesn’t really like spicy foods… oops. We couldn’t finish it but, we did get to bring it home. πŸ˜€

Boyfriend had his regular, Pad Woon Sen and my dad had deep fried pork belly with salty eggs and an assortment of veggies and salads. I didn’t get to take a photo of it because he ate it up as soon as it was set down!!

When we finished eating, we went to the Bellagio to take photos of and in front of the Japanese Garden. My dad is taking forever to send me all the photos he took of us so I’ll have to post them at a later date…

It was surprising to see that the garden was even MORE beautiful in the daylight. I didn’t even think it possible but, it was. We even found a few spots we didn’t see the first time we went.

We then walked out onto The Strip and my dad took more photos of us that I also haven’t gotten to see yet!!

When we were all tuckered out from walking, we went to Fremont Street to let my dad do some more gambling. We saw the Tony Roma’s lobster and steak deal advertised for every night from 9-11 PM so at 9, we added our names to the already hour long waitlist.

I wasn’t that hungry until it was our turn anyways. The meal was pretty darn good for being only $11.99 but, portion wise… the price makes perfect sense. I cleared my whole plate besides the defrosted veggies.

After watching my dad gamble some more, he dropped us off at home and we went to sleep right away. We were sooo tired!

Boyfriend found someone to cover his shifts so we were able to road trip to Cali on Saturday, the 6th! At first, his manager had said “no” because the person who offered to cover boyfriend’s shift would be doubling and they didn’t want that BUT, then, at around 10 AM… his manager called back to tell him he could have the day off!!

We immediately called my dad to see how far he had gotten and thankfully, his wife was taking extra long to get ready that morning so they had JUST left. They turned around to come get us while we quickly got our belongings together!

The ride was pretty boring besides the first rest stop we made at the biggest Terrible’s/Chevron gas station/convenience store ever.

It was seriously ridiculous! I tried to photograph the whole store but, it was just too big!!

My dad’s wife bought this delicious batch of freshly sliced fruit from a small family selling it at the end of the sidewalk. We sat and ate on a bench outside before we got back into the car for more driving.

I mostly stayed up and talked with everyone the whole way there but, I did end up falling asleep for around a half hour or so.

Our hotel check-in time was at 3 PM and we got there at almost 4 PM so, our timing was perfect. Since it was so last minute though, boyfriend and I got the Aryes Hotel’s VERY last room… it cost us so much more because of it, too.

The place was gorgeous though. Their lobby was clean and cozy and our room was even better.

We had to have two queen beds instead of one king-sized but, it didn’t bother us none. Both came in handy. πŸ˜‰

We unpacked everything we needed, I took a quick shower and then, we met back up with my dad and his wife who were staying only one door down.

My dad brought us to his favorite restaurant, that keeps him going back to Cali nearly every year… the outstanding Boston Lobster.

We were lucky to arrive before a line formed. I took the photo above on our way out. All those people are waiting for a table and there were more waiting inside, too.

If you couldn’t guess by the name of the restaurant, the big Boston LOBSTER is what we went for.

We all shared the biggest size they had, drenched in their special house sauce, atop a bed of noodles. It was SUPER juicy and meaty… mmm… just absolute perfection. I could have ate the whole plate myself!!

But, to prevent that, we ordered other food, too… like, the shrimp fried rice.

These delicious stems and leaves… they were some sort of bean sprouts? I can’t remember what they were called…

A HUGE crispy sole fish!

Clams with a kind of weird sauce and…

A pot of hot tea for the table. πŸ™‚

When we finished eating, my dad and his wife waited for the waiter to get to our table with the tab while boyfriend and I went to Sunny Bakery a few doors down.

It was pretty small and they didn’t serve any flavored iced tea like I was hoping for!

I did end up picking out a fluffy red bean bun though. ❀ I hate how those black sesame seeds look but, I loved making them disappear.

We went back to sit with my dad and his wife at the restaurant because they still hadn’t been given the tab! When the waiter finally came around, we asked him if they served any iced tea. He said “no” but suggested Oh My Pan right across the street.

We drove over and I was mesmerized. There were SO SO SO many baked goods. I wanted each and every one but, I knew I couldn’t eat that much dairy with a road trip back home coming up the next day. 😦 I noticed their red bean bun tray was empty so I was lucky to have got one at Sunny’s!

I didn’t even think about how I could’ve saved some stuff for later, lol. I thought I would have to eat it all right away… (probably only because I would have!).

I got a lychee iced black tea and boyfriend got the mango iced black tea. We forgot to ask for “less sweet” so neither of us were really able to drink ours. I had to order a cup of black coffee instead…

I also bought a bag of soft macaroon matcha cookies. My teeth sunk right into them, there wasn’t too much cream, and there was just the right amount of sweetness. They were heavenly, I tell ya. I regret not buying any of the other baked goods!!

Next, we took a drive to Cambodia Town because my dad wanted to go this party that is usually going on at Hak Heang, a Cambodian restaurant, but that night, it was closed down for a wedding. It was around 8 PM and we were all getting crabby and tired anyways, so we just headed back to the hotel.

From our room’s window, we spotted a cool looking bar called, JT Schmid’s, right across the street. We walked over after I changed into some warmer clothes.

It was barely 10 PM and their website said they closed at 12 AM but, when we got there… the bartender and everyone was cleaning up. We both ordered two drinks and were able to finish them but, we felt pretty rushed the entire time.

I got their Moscow Mule with Tito’s and boyfriend had two shots of scotch. I have to admit, I got pretty drunk! The drinks were, at least, super strong. We went back to the hotel and my dad was wandering the halls! I was like, “how did you know I was going to be down here?!” I mean, I did tell him we were at the bar but, not when we got back, lol. We bought him a bottle of wine, we bought two cans of sangria, and we all got some snacks from the hotel’s little shop.

When boyfriend and I got back to our room, he rolled a mini joint with an emptied cigarette paper. We smoked it outside at the designated smoking area and it actually worked really nicely! Right when we put it out, a hotel employee walked out and gave us the head nod greeting… and moved on, lol. Phew!! We thought we almost got caught!

Finally, we turned on the TV, changed into our PJ’s and put those two beds to good use… πŸ˜‰ we ate our snacks, smoked on our vape pens, and slept soundly on the luxurious mattress, sheets, and pillows.

The next day, April 7th, was a long one!! And this post is already too much so I’m gonna stop here and fill you in on the rest of my time with my dad and his wife tomorrow. I’ll be trying to catch up with all of your blogs in the mean time. ❀

  1. Ah, this visit + trip sounds like it was fun!

Re chandelier: i didn’t realize those glasses were the shades. I was actually trying to figure out what it is and what its purpose could be before i saw your explanation πŸ˜€

So much nice food, damn… Over here lychee flavoured things are not very common, which is a pity cuz i really like it. During summer i can buy fresh lychee in some shops, but of course it’s a tiny portion and costs quite a lot :/

    1. It ended up being a blast!! πŸ˜€

Re: Re Chandelier: crazy, huh?!? Lol.

Aww, lychees are so yummy but sometimes a pain to peel anyways. I don’t mind eating the canned, non-fresh ones sometimes. πŸ˜‰

    Lollygagging. LOL

I did NOT notice right away that the lamp shades were glass cups! That’s very cool!

Can I pleeeeease have your long, long hair and cute skirt? Ugh.

Mmm gimme all the Thai food!

I’m so glad Boyfriend got to go to California with you and that Dad had not gotten too far down the road!

& YESS. My dad loves to lollygag. It’s his favorite. & right?? Those glass cups as shades were so cool!!

Trust me, you don’t want the long hair!! & the cute dress was from Francesca’s. They have similar ones for sale all the time. πŸ™‚

Cali was super fun & I’m so glad we got to go, too!!

  4. I’m so glad you were both able to end up going! What a great surprise and how nice of your boyfriend’s coworker to cover his shift even though it meant working double! If Joshua even wants to take off an hour early, his supervisor tells him no and guilts trip him about letting down the “team.” >.<
Anyway it looks like SUCH a fun trip! All of that seafood looks and sounds amazing! I've never seen a sole fish like that before! I've also never seen soft macarons before and they look delicious! Oh and how lucky that you guys got the last room!

    1. I know!! I was so happy that he could make it to Cali with us. πŸ˜€ That’s so annoying how some jobs make it so hard to get a freakin’ day off… I’m sure “the team” will be okay for one day… maybe even two! Lol.

It was a super fun trip!! The seafood was delish & that sole fish was the biggest one I’ve ever had!! It was my first time trying the soft macarons & I really liked them but, not better than the original kind. We were SUPER lucky to snag that last room, weren’t we?! It would have sucked to stay at a different hotel than my dad & his wife.

      1. Exactly, lol! Some jobs just act like that’s your whole life!

I’m so glad you got to go and spend time with them! Quick trips are often the best! I still haven’t tried original macarons either, so I definitely need to change that lol. Oh my gosh yeah, you would have had to coordinate a lot more if you got a different hotel!

        1. I know! They act like there aren’t 1000 more jobs out there, but OKAY lol.

I love quick trips the best, too! I hate being away from home for a long time. πŸ˜› & y’know, you seem like a pretty fine baker! I wonder if you could make your own macarons!!

          1. So true!!

Me too, I start getting homesick. I can’t help but wonder how I’m going to feel when we move because we won’t have our own home for a bit while we apartment search!

Aw thank you! I’ve heard macarons are complicated, but it would be fun to look into for sure! ❀

  5. I’ve never been into gambling. I’ve only been to a casino once, and I was also gambling with someone else’s money. πŸ˜› It was only $5 though. They gave it to me to give it a try, but I immediately lost the whole $5 in the span of a minute. I was like “Nope, I’m done.” lol

  6. You have been missed!!! I was wondering yesterday where ya were, cause I felt like it’d been a second since I’d seen a post from you! Sooo excited to catch up now πŸ™‚

I totally did not realize that those lights were made of cups at first?!? SO cool!

Lol- oh my gosh, I love how goofy he can be with you!

Thai is always a great option!! Girl, I’ll take that spiciness any day! Spicier the better. Mmm. All that food looks great!

Sooo glad you all were able to go & the work situation all worked out- phewww. I have had close encounters like that in the past, and it can be so stressful. SO glad someone stepped in to cover for him!

That lobster- I have no words except for YUMMM.

Haha- have to make the black sesame seeds disappear ! I have wanted to try more red bean stuff lately. It sounds so good!

Soft macaroon matcha cookies?! I don’t think I can handle all the goodness in this post.

So glad you had such a fun time with the fam!! ❀

    1. Aww yay! I missed you, too!! ❀ That was so sweet of you to think of me and even notice that I wasn't posting!! ❀

I KNOW!! The chandelier looks so fancy but, they were just a bunch of regular whiskey glasses!! So cool, right?

I agree, the spicier the better but I do already get heartburn. I hope I don't end up needing a prescription medicine like my dad when I'm older!

It really is stressful trying to plan trips. My job is flexible so I always assume it'll be just as easy for boyfriend or anyone else but it never is. 😦 I am so grateful for the kind lady who covered for him!!

& that lobster was to die for!! I am guessing you live quite far away from Boston Lobster (in San Gabriel?) but, I bet a Chinese restaurant near you serves it up the same way!!

Those black sesame seeds look extremely creepy, don't they?!? It felt & tasted good to make them go away LOL. Red bean is LOVE ❀ if you ever see a "tri-color dessert w/ red bean" on a menu… order it!!!

Are there a lot of Chinese bakeries in CA? It seems like there are! I bet you can find the red bean bun & soft macarons at any of 'em!!

Thanks so much for reading & commenting, love!!! ❀

      1. Of course!! ❀

Oh my goodness- I am with you on the heartburn! I already eat antacids far too often because of my love of spicy food- ugh, the struggle. But if I have to take a little Prevacid to enjoy it, then so be it- lol!

*Sigh* I just checked and San Gabriel is about five hours away- BUT on the bright side we have a plethora of really good, authentic Chinese restaurants around here- so I’ll have to make it my mission to hunt something similar down πŸ™‚

Haha totally know what you mean, but thank goodness you knew the magic trick to make them disappear! πŸ˜‰ Ugh, I need to really take a breather on the dad jokes. I am making a note in my notepad about the red bean dessert. Just the though is making my mouth water.

We actually have an 85 degrees bakery right by us! I bet they would have something similar!! Gonna have to check it out. Soo many goodies to try *heart eyes*.

I hope you can find the big lobster at one of those Chinese restaurants close to you!

LOL please never take a breather on the dad jokes. I LOVE them. ❀ & I hope you like the tricolor dessert when you try it!

  7. Wait a minute! Your dads bday is on the 4th and his wife on the 5th? Lol
And that sucks that you’ve had the same experience at that restaurant. I’ll be sure to steer clear from that one. Then again, I’ll just have you take us to the best place πŸ˜†πŸ˜‰
Omg I want to see that Japanese garden so badly!!!! Cant wait to see those photos lol.
That’s so cool that your boyfriend got the day off just in time!!
And holy shit that convenience store! I have never seen one that big!!!!!
The portions in those dishes at Boston lobster look insane! Lol. I would have loved the shrimp fried rice lol.
And omg a bakery just a few doors down?? And I literally got that red bean bun too!! I found a japanese bakery here in oregon and just had to make the drive out there so delish!
You had a full couple of days glad you had so much fun and ate lots of good food!

    1. LOL yep, it’s so weird that their birthdays are one day apart, isn’t it?!

I would love to bring you around to all the best places!! ❀ I wish the Japanese Garden could be around all the time so you could see it whenever you came. I'm so sad the photos didn't turn out well!!

I wish I could have captured that entire convenience store but it was just SO big!!

& yess, the portions at Boston Lobster were insane!! But we are all big eaters & were able to finish everything. πŸ˜€

That's so funny you just ate a red bean bun, too!! I wonder if we were eating them at the same time. πŸ˜‰ My cat actually tried to have a bite which really surprised me?? LOL. Who knew cats like red bean buns!!

That sounds wonderful! Alex’s mom will be in Vegas, or near there, for the next two weeks I think. Alex’s brother is heading out Thursday, but we’re not able to go because we have to take care of something else here 😦 I had told Alex if we could but we cannot we have to wait a while before we travel out of the state.
haha your cat! how precious!! πŸ˜€

              1. Well that’s great!! Usually people are unsure of where they want to live until they get much older. It could also be that you’ve also lived in other states so you kind of got to see different areas more or less. I could be COMPLETELY wrong though lol

                  1. it’s expensive! i would like a home but we can’t afford it unless i start working full time which…who knows when i’ll have the chance, i’m hoping in two more years once CL has started kindergarten or first grade but i might just start looking for a part time after summer vacation so i can stay busy because i’m sooo over being at home all the damn time

                    Liked by 1 person

                    1. I just don’t want to deal with the hassle of a home. Cleaning it, maintaining the yard, fixing appliances, and broken cabinets on our own. I love my little apartment & the maintenance man that comes over for free whenever something needs repair. We have a pool, hot tub, & laundry machines inside our unit. I can’t imagine that owning a home would be better. We don’t need that much space!

I hope you can find a part-time or something this summer. I can see how staying home all the time could become restless!!

                      Liked by 1 person

                    2. You make a fantastic point. Homes really are a hassle just in a general sense lol. I do remember living in an apartment. Maintenance could come to fix anything lol. We also had laundry machines inside ours too. Same with the pool and hot tub so fun haha
I was actually looking into jobs yesterday but even an overnight one is risky because the days the shift is on, alex also works. And since he leaves at 4 am ish to go work, I wouldn’t be back till 5 ish and that means we’d be leaving CL alone and thats a no-no. So that really sucks. I wonder if I was to take the job if they’d allow me that slight shift change but who knows. It’s hard to find a flexible workplace. Which sucks because now I’m all getting my hopes up and I probably wont be able to work for another year:(

                    3. Yess lol maintenane men, pools & hot tubs make apartment life living so worth it. πŸ˜‚

Awww yeah, flexible jobs are so hard to find, it’s like you have to prove yourself to them & work their hours before you can ask for any changes in your schedule because if you ask during an interview, they prob won’t hire you. Which totally sucks. They should hire based on a person, not their availability.

It may be a weird suggestion to you, but Portland has the most strip clubs in America. It’s pretty easy to get a waitress job at one, they make great tips, & their hours are perfect for what you’re looking for. πŸ˜›

                    4. That’s one of the reasons I’m looking for jobs that fit my schedule specifically. I know there are a few that are flexible but then again those are day time jobs, I need an evening or nights or weekends. But I also have to make sure to put some time aside with my boys, otherwise I’ll be gone when Alex gets home and I don’t want that either.
