Boxycharm | March 2019

Hi there, fellow beauty lovers! πŸ™‚ I’m sure you’ve all heard enough lamenting about the delay and troubles with the boxes this month so I won’t get into that. I was actually expecting mine to be a lot later than it was and my palette was the correct shade. I’m lucky to have nothing to complain about anyways.

What Was In My Box?!

Theme: La Vie en Rose

Wander Beauty
Lift Off Purifying and Brightening Peel Off Mask

Boxycharm’s Description

Containing a blend of skin loving acai, goji berry, blueberry, lychee, mangosteen and green tea leaf extracts, the Wander Beauty Lift Off Purifying and Brightening Peel Off Mask instantly purifies and replenishes dull skin. Excess oil and impurities are drawn out and absorbed by kaolin clay, minimizing the appearance of enlarged pores. This rose gold, skin saving, peel off mask dries quickly and peels off effortlessly, revealing a smoother, clearer and brighter complexion.

My Thoughts & First Impressions

I haven’t used this yet. I’m actually waiting to read a few more reviews on it so that I’ll use it properly when I do. I may just give it away though since I prefer sheet masks so much more.

Moda Brushes
Powder + Soft Glow Kit

Boxycharm’s Description

Your new Moda 2-Piece Powder and Soft Glow kit is the ultimate dynamic duo. The two brushes were designed to give you your desired look. The elegant rose gold tapered handles and two-toned synthetic brush hair make this brush set the perfect addition to your brush collection.

My Thoughts & First Impressions

I’ve only used the smaller of the two brushes so far and it honestly wasn’t that impressive! It picked up product but, didn’t transfer it to my skin. The handles are pretty and the bristles are soft though. I’ll have to experiment with them both a bit.

Excuse the dryness around my lips… this was before I bought some new moisturizer…

Oryza
Opaline Top Gloss in Rose Glow

Boxycharm’s Description

The Opaline Top Gloss from Oryza Beauty is a weightless and waterproof lip topper adding an extra dimension and shimmer to your lips. Layer over your favorite lip color for an impactful lip look or wear alone as a subtle gloss.

My Thoughts & First Impressions

The extreme coconutty scent of this gloss made me gag. I am not even being dramatic either. It smelled so strongly and never went away. I waited as long as I could stand before wiping it off.

I tried it on bare lips and I actually really liked how it looked. It was super shiny with tons of colorful sparkles and it dried up nicely, staying comfortable to wear. I could see it really making a difference if used over a lipstick!

IT Cosmetics
Superhero Mascara in Super Black

Boxycharm’s Description

Wrap your lashes in lengthening, volume boosting and ultra-conditioning formula. The Elastic Stretch Technology and the ultra-black tint make for the thickest and most defined lashes ever.

My Thoughts & First Impressions

I thought I had received a mini sample of this mascara from a sub box in the past and that I had not been a fan of it but, now, I’m not so sure because I LOVE it!!! You can pack it on, layer after layer, and it doesn’t clump up! It just keeps adding more volume, thickness, and length. My lashes have seriously never looked better. It DOES smudge underneath my eyes a little bit but, it never looks scary-terrible and is worth the amazing effect. Plus, you can easily wipe it away with your finger right when you catch it.

Cover FX
Perfector Face Palette in Medium-Deep

Boxycharm’s Description

Six must-have complexion essentials in one travel-friendly palette. The talc-free formula provides seamless blending and flawless application. Sculpt with contour, blush it up and illuminate with two shimmering highlighters. Find your perfect finish with the brightener and finishing powder for a glowing, multidimensional look anywhere and everywhere you go.

My Thoughts & First Impressions

Okay, these powders are definitely pigmented and they’re all super dark. The shades are gorgeous but, I am a bit intimidated to use it. The swatches turned out beautifully but, I think I need to watch a few tutorials on how-to-use this palette before I’ll be brave enough to try it on my face.

I love the HUGE mirror inside but, the packaging is not my style. I don’t like the weird off-white/cream color and I hate the way it clasps. I also don’t like the clunkyness. Everything about it was just ugly to me. πŸ˜› There was no slip/cover protecting the pans either.

  1. This box looks sooo pretty and everything in it looks sooo awesome!! I wish I still had the subscription. πŸ˜₯ I have the IT mascara and absolutely love it. I actually got that in a box from last year, full size too!! I can see what you mean by the palette looking a bit ugly. It kinda has a very 70’s sort of packaging to it in my opinion. LOL!! xD

    1. This subscription is so worth it! I can’t believe the value of the whole box sometimes!

The IT Mascara is really great. I’m glad they had some extras laying around to throw in my box. πŸ˜€ But YEAH!! I’m glad you see it, too. The packaging is just bad, lol!!

    1. In my first Boxy, I also received that Chella eyebrow stuff that I know was in a past Boxy, too. I think they are slowly giving me all their leftovers lol. I can’t wait to try the face palette!

  2. Looking at the ingredients of that mask… i have to admit, i didn’t realize mangosteen was a real thing πŸ˜€ I came across it in a book once, but i thought it was a fictional fruit. Hehehe. I always learn something!

    1. Gosh, there are always so many weird ingredients, I rarely even think about ’em anymore but you made me curious about the mangosteen. I just looked it up & they look so weird LOL.

    1. The IT Mascara is a little too wet & smudgy but, it makes my eyelashes look really nice. πŸ˜› What’s your favorite mascara?

The lip gloss was super pretty & would’ve looked so nice over a lipstick but… that scent was terrible. I know you love coconut but I don’t think you would have even liked it!

      1. I don’t really have a favorite mascara. I just use all the different mascara’s that are sent to me from Ipsy, but none that I’ve used have really made me stick with that particular one and want to re-buy.

  3. Wait I thought you had gotten off the waitlist for the boxyluxe?
I have used that mascara and didn’t like it much so the full size that I got in some box is gonna go to a giveaway.
I got the face palette too in the light shade. Seems good for me because the shades aren’t as dark, I’m kind of pale right now lol. And that lippie sounds like its good but too bad the scent is too strong.

    1. Lol no, I never got off the waitlist before I cancelled my wait! πŸ˜›

I like the mascara!! I think I had a sample of it before but, wasn’t a fan, either. Do you think minis & full-sizes could perform differently? I just love how it makes my eyelashes look. It is a bit wet & smudgy though. πŸ˜›

I think either of the palettes would have worked for my skin. & I was so sad about the lippie. It literally made me gag but was so pretty. Def would have looked nice as a lip topper!

      1. Omg haha
And it’s possible, but it wouldn’t be good if the minis suck because that will force people to buy the full size. Though I dont think many high end brands have mini versions of their mascaras. Maybe that’s just for beauty subs? I’m not really sure actually.
Omg yeah, it would have been perfect as a lip topper!

        1. Oh my gosh, I tried that Cover FX palette & almost cried because I wanted to wipe it off but didn’t wanna re-do my entire face. It made me look so texturized & bumpy everywhere. 😦

  4. Such a beautiful post! I remember back in my high school years, I’d always wear makeup to class and work- not anymore lol I never wear makeup to my job. I do love playing with it when I have time though:-)

  5. I hope those brushes end up working better for you! It would be such a shame if they didn’t actually work well to transfer product! I have some pretty brushes like that and it feels like such a tease in a way lol.
