Ipsy Glam Bag | March 2019

I keep thinking about canceling this subscription and I might be the only one, but I still love getting the different makeup bags each month. I feel like they’re worth the $10 on their own. The samples inside are just a bonus to me so, I’ll probably stay with them for awhile longer.

Just look at it!! I love the quote, “and off she went to change the world,” the color, and the star-shaped zipper.

The postcard was like a little greeting card. Inside were the details on all the samples I was given!

What Was In My Bag?!

Theme: SHEro

Sol de Janeiro
Brazilian Bum Bum Cream

Ipsy’s Description

Sol de Janeiro aims to enhance your best features and boost your confidence. This all-over moisturizer is made with guarana to stimulate circulation, and cupuacu butter, acai, and coconut oils to smooth and condition skin.

My Thoughts & First Impressions

I still cannot decide if I want to throw this in my giveaway box or give it a try. I’ve read a lot of great reviews on it and of course, we all want to tighten up but… is it worth the strong scent??

Seraphine Botanicals
Curl Imperial Mini Mascara

Ipsy’s Description

Seraphine Botanicals is all about using nutritious, plant-based, fair-trade ingredients in their products. This baby’s made with copolymers that wrap around each lash to curl and lock in color, plus Queen of the Meadow and Imperial Orchid extracts to condition lashes.

My Thoughts & First Impressions

The brush wasn’t my favorite but, I did like the formula of this mascara. It wasn’t super wet and it built up nicely without clumping. I did experience a small amount of flaking but, only right after application and not throughout the day. It didn’t smudge underneath my eyes, it was long-lasting, and I was happy with the amount of curl and volume. I, for once, was satisfied with a mascara sample!

Ciate London
Mini Lip Lustre in Kiss Me

Ipsy’s Description

The MO of this British beauty brand is using makeup to express your inner beauty–and we’re always down for that. This vitamin E-infused gloss is non-sticky, silky smooth, and creates a sheer wash of pretty pink color you can layer to deepen the shade.

My Thoughts & First Impressions

Easy to apply, comfortable on the lips, and super sparkly. The shine doesn’t last long but the sparkles stuck for some time. I’m always excited for a new lipgloss and this one was quite nice. Non-drying and not overly sticky. The shade I got was very light and sheer.

Space Case
Eyeshadow in Alien Love Child

Ipsy’s Description

The lavender shade with violet-blue flecks can be applied wet or dry, with your finger or brush. It blends smooth like butter and wears for hours without creasing.

My Thoughts & First Impressions

Whoooa, I was absolutely fascinated with the shade of this eyeshadow!! It was exactly as the description says, lavender with violet-blue flecks. I applied it with my finger, dry. I loved how the product felt, it was squishy and soft. The pigmentation wasn’t that impressive at the first swipe but, you could definitely deepen the color by adding more. The finishing look was gorgeous and iridescent. Sadly, the eyeshadow faded within an hour or less! I didn’t use anything underneath or over it. I simply put it on my eyelid. Maybe with a primer or setting spray, it could last longer?

I Dew Care
Disco Kitten Illuminating Diamond Peel Off Mask

Ipsy’s Description

This K-Beauty brand’s all about skincare for all genders, skin colors, skin types–everyone. This peel-off mask is made with pearl powder (to exfoliate), diamond powder (to brighten), and superfood oat to keep skin healthy and nourished.

My Thoughts & First Impressions

I had never tried a ‘peel-off’ mask before so I was a tiny bit afraid of this. I’ve read a lot of reviews about how painful they can be. Luckily, by reading those reviews, I learned to lay it on thick to avoid such torture. The directions said to leave it on for 20 minutes or until dry. My mask completely dried in less than 10 minutes and I was able to rip it off easily but, not in one single piece like I had hoped. I did notice my face brightened up a little bit but, nothing too drastic. Around half an hour later, my skin started to itch a little but, I could blame that on not moisturizing. My forehead does seem to have broken out in little bumps though. 😦 The metallic effect was cool and the scent was lovely but, I don’t think I can continue using this. PLUS, spreading masks is a hard task… I prefer sheets so much.

    1. Isn’t it the cutest?! Definitely one of their best bags yet. & yeaaah… not sure how I feel about the peel-off masks. I got another one to try but might just add it to my giveaway pile instead!!

  1. Oooh the Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream is supposed to be so amazing, so you should definitely try it! Also the Space Case shadow & packaging reminds me so much of the CP Super Shock Eyeshadows! I’d be curious to see how the two compare – but it is a bummer that the color faded so soon. (Everything fades on my lids without a primer.)

    1. I knooow, I keep hearing that Bum Cream is amazing but, I’m scared that the scent will be too strong for me since a lot of other bloggers have mentioned that.

Funny thing, I’ve never even seen a CP Super Shock Eyeshadow in real life but after reading so much about them, they were the first thing that popped into my mind when I touched the Space Case Eyeshadow! I honestly never use primer. πŸ˜›

  2. I want that Bum Bum cream so badly I can’t stand it…..and I don’t even know why lol I haven’t even smelled it. I hope it’s better than the coco whatever cream from boxycharm though. I feel like your bag is so good! Mine is just meh. Ipsy doesn’t get me – they keep sending me red freakin lip stuff even though I have explicitly put ‘rarely’.

    1. Lol! I am too scared to open both the Bum Cream & that Coco one from Boxy. πŸ˜› I’ve read they both are quite strongly scented & I get headaches from that quickly. I’ll probably be throwing it in my giveaway in August so maybe you can win it. πŸ™‚

I can’t wait to see what you got in your Ipsy bag! Sometimes what I get is ‘meh,’ too. πŸ˜›

    1. Rossy told me the same about the Bum Cream! I think I’m gonna toss it in a giveaway. I don’t wanna give myself a headache & I have another body lotion to use anyways.

The bag was worth the whole subscription this month, I loved it, too. πŸ˜„

  3. That bag everything came in is super cute! If you don’t like the scent of the Bum Bum Cream don’t keep it but if you think it will good at moisturising and you’re curios to try it to say you have this is your opportunity as it hasn’t cost you anything about from the subscription πŸ™‚

    1. I think the bag was my favorite item out of everything this month! I haven’t smelled the Bum Cream, I’ve just been told it has a strong scent. I don’t want to waste it for one try on myself when I could give it away to someone who would love it, y’know? πŸ˜› what a dilemma lol.

  4. I love the Ipsy bags & I wish they shipped internationally! The eyeshadow looks pretty but it only lasts an hour?! Hopefully it lasts longer with primer! But the lipgloss looks like a win!

    1. Aw it’s surprising to me that they still aren’t able to ship internationally! Hopefully they get it figured out someday soon.

Yeah, the eyeshadow pretty much disappeared by the time I checked in the mirror an hour later. Pretty disappointing! πŸ˜› But yes, sheer glosses usually are a win for me!

  5. I had Ipsy for awhile and I cancelled but I can’t quite remember why!
I think my favorite in your bag is the eyeshadow. It’s such a pretty color, hopefully you’ll find a way to make it last longer!

    1. I always cancel and re-subscribe lol. It’s too addicting for me. πŸ˜› I’m gonna try applying the eyeshadow with a wet brush, over concealer and see if it lasts longer that way!

  6. Wait this isnt ipsy plus?
And the bum bum cream is not as strong as the coco cabana one. In my opinion it’s far more tolerable than the coco one. Also I did notice the formula is a bit different in the sense that this one was better and felt more hydrating lol.
The lippie looks nice. I swear all those lighter shades look better on you than on me lol.
And I love that shadow! The shade is gorgeous. Definitely try a primer, I have noticed some of my shadows lasting and not creasing with primer. Though some people dont see a difference. Try the cheaper ones, wet n wild has a great one, it’s less than $5 I recently got it lol

    1. Lol no, I am still getting the little $10 Ipsy bags, too. πŸ˜› & I’m still going back and forth on if I want to try the Bum Cream! I’m thinking it’s not worth the headache?

I think all the shades look nice on you, too! I just think the ones you wear less often look weird to yourself, y’know?

Ooh yeah, you would really love that eyeshadow!! It’s totally you. Purple & kind of galaxyish!! I’ll have to try it with a primer & see if it lasts longer. πŸ™‚

    1. I have so many bags, too. I open closets & drawers to see empty, abandoned ones all the time but I still can’t cancel? I don’t know what’s wrong with me, I rarely even like more than 2 items out of the samples I get. πŸ˜› The bags just keep getting better though & yeah, the eyeshadow was full-sized, too, y’know?!

    1. It reminded me of the the CP Super Shock shadows & I’ve not even seen one in real life before lol. I haven’t bought anything from CP yet but I may give ’em shot someday. πŸ™‚

  7. I’m kind of opposite. I don’t really care about the bags. lol I mean I do like to see what the design will be each month, but I don’t really have a use for them.

I got that Bum Bum Cream from Ipsy a while back. It smells good but sooo strong. I can only use a tiny bit at a time or I get a headache.

The Space Case eyeshadow is so pretty and looks amazing for you!

I’ve heard of that Disco Kitten mask before, but I’ve never tried it. The illuminating effect is pretty neat though. I’ve used peel-off masks before and some didn’t hurt at all to peel off, while others are excruciating. lol

    1. Lol I’m running out of uses for them, too. They are all over the place, just neglected & empty but, I don’t know why I keep wanting more. πŸ˜›

Oh okay, you’ve helped me finally decide. I’m giving the Bum Cream away! I loved the eyeshadow. I hope I can find a way to make it last longer on my lids. The peel-off mask was pretty cool-looking when it dried! There were both thick and thin layers on my face and it didn’t hurt at all! I’m glad this wasn’t one of the excruciating ones!!

  8. I’ve heard lots of great things about the Bum Bum cream, but I don’t think it does much to tighten anything from what I’ve heard. I was curious about it because I had heard it smells incredible so I actually went to Sephora and smelled it there. Initially I loved the scent, but when I smelled it again it smelled a little sweet for me! I tried it on my hand and it did leave a nice glow, but I couldn’t get past the price still.
I would love to hear what you think about it though if you end up using it!

    1. Oh my gosh, why aren’t I as smart as you?! I was just in Sephora & I saw it but, didn’t even think to smell it while I was there. I think I am going to just give it away though! I just don’t think I’ll be able to handle the scent! πŸ˜›
