Influenster VoxBox | Bobbi Brown Crushed Liquid Lip

Hi everyone!! I was lucky enough to receive another FREE box from Influenster recently (in exchange for a review). They e-mailed me on Valentine’s Day, informing me that I was selected to receive the Bobbi Brown Crushed Liquid Lip VoxBox but, it didn’t actually arrive in my mailbox until early last week.

This time, the box it came in was black and white. I noticed they updated their app and it has a black and white theme going on now, too.

The first thing I saw was the postcard and the matching black tissue paper.

By now, you may have guessed what I got, right?!

Bobbi Brown – Crush Liquid Lipstick
Shade: Smoothie Move

“This feel-good formula wraps lips in the full coverage of a liquid lip, emollient-rich moisture of a balm and sweet sheen of a gloss for a plumped-up look and comfortable feel. Plus, it’s infused with a blend of superfruit extracts, including cranberries. Fun and effortless, the 14 super saturated shades–from bare to bold to bright–are so blendable, they are virtually mistake-proof. Fall into a crush with Crushed Liquid Lip.”

(via Influenster)

The swatch was VERY wet and a lot darker than it turned out to be on my lips. It did not dry down quickly, either.

My Thoughts & First Impressions

Honestly, the formula was a nightmare. It did everything you wouldn’t want your lip product to do. It transferred like crazy and when it wore it away, after not too long might I add, it left patchy colors all over my lips. It would be embarrassing to actually go out and do things with this lipstick on if you didn’t re-apply it every hour (or less!). I did really love the shade on me though, it was a nice dark and dusty rose– the shiny finish was super pretty, too and I admit I saw a small plumping effect happen. It was easy to stay within the lines of my lips and the color spread evenly. I think I prefer this style of applicator over the normal doe-footed ones.

Let me know if you’ve ever tried this lipstick or anything else by Bobbi Brown! I’d love to hear your thoughts.

    1. I agree! It was a super pretty color. I thought it would be similar to a lot of the other shades I already own but it was unique. So sad about the formula. 😦

  1. The color looks so gorgeous on you, even though you don’t like the formula. I haven’t gotten anything from Influenster in a while. 😦 I got one of those pre-survey things a couple weeks ago or so, but after filling it out, it said I didn’t qualify. That’s the first time I didn’t qualify! Then about a week after that, I got another pre-survey for another VoxBox, but it said it was for a “wet cat food product”. My cat is on a special diet, so I didn’t even bother to fill out that qualification survey for that one. Plus, I would rather a product I can try myself, you know?

    1. I really liked the color, too! I have similar ones but none that are exactly like it. 😦

I feel like Influenster is sending out less boxes than they used to. I got the wet cat food survey too & I filled it out but I must not have qualified? I think I’ve not qualified for more than I have qualified for lately. πŸ˜›

  2. What a disappointment regarding the formula! The color really is so pretty, but I guess that’s not a huge plus when it doesn’t last. :/ How strange that the swatch was so much darker than on your lips! I don’t think I’ve ever seen an applicator like that before, either.

    1. Right? I can’t believe the lipstick cost so much & is sold at Sephora because the wear of it was on par with drugstore stuff. πŸ˜› I’ve noticed swatches are always a bit different for some reason! I wonder why that is. But yes, the applicator was nice! It really helped me stay in the lines of my lips.

      1. Darker colors can be notoriously patchy in some formulas (like dark reds & purples, for example). But mid-tone to lighter colors usually aren’t patchy for the most part (unless the formula is really shit).

    1. Thank you! I’m so glad I didn’t spend my money on such a product lol. Though, I have to admit, nothing would have drawn me to buy it in the first place. I only tried it because it was sent to me!

  3. The color is pretty! It sucks that the formula wasn’t very good. You’d think that something that retails for almost $30 would have a formula that wasn’t patchy! Maybe it’s just patchy with the dark shades though; it still stinks that it wasn’t very good.

  4. I was so excited for you because I love the Bobbi Brown products I’ve tried. That sucks that it wasn’t good! The color seemed really nice at first too. What a bummer. Also I’m glad you mentioned about the black and white icon because I noticed that and wasn’t sure if it had broken or what haha!

    1. Oh you’re the first to talk positively about the brand! What products did you try & love?

I did love the color but hopefully I can get it in a different formula/brand in the future. πŸ™‚ The app looks so different now! I was confused when I first saw, it too lol.

  5. Wow the swatch looks MUCH darker than on your lips. Wtf is that about? Sucks the formula was crap, at least you got to try it though. Every time I hear of Bobbi Brown lippies everyone says they’re so great but this one doesn’t seem like it. Aren’t they expensive anyway?

    1. I know, right? The swatch was SO dark and almost purple but on my lips… it was a dusty pink!? I had never tried anything by Bobbi Brown before so it was fun trying something by them for free but, yeah… it’s way too expensive for what it is. πŸ˜›
