Boxycharm | February 2019

Hello there my fellow beauty lovers! It’s time to discuss my February 2019 Boxycharm. I still can’t decide how I feel about it. Let me know what you guys think…

What Was in My Box?!

Theme: After Glow

Too Faced
Better Than Sex Mascara

Boxycharm’s Description

Indulge in a mascara that actually lives up to its name. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara separates, coats, and curls each lash to voluptuous perfection. Acacia Senegal Tree Extract sets volume while film-forming polymers lock your lashes in a perfect curl.

My Thoughts & First Impressions

I’ve received a mini sample of this mascara before in a different sub box. I don’t remember liking it but, I’m gonna wait to open it and try it again when my current mascara is done for (should be soon).

Retail Value: $24.00
Cruelty-Free? Yes

Pretty Vulgar
Shimmering Swan Highlighter in Sparkling Sass

Boxycharm’s Description

Allow your skin to capture the light of any room you walk into with this unique, velvety smooth highlighter infused with glow-loving, reflecting and pearlescent pigments, this highlighter will give your skin the perfect amount of brightness.

My Thoughts & First Impressions

The packaging feels weak and kind of cheap but, it sure is pretty. Priced at $32.00, I would expect something sturdier with a mirror inside. I like the shade, it looked and felt nice when I swatched it but, I haven’t tried it on my cheeks yet so no comments on performance or how well it suits me.

Retail Value: $32.00
Cruelty-Free? Yes

Sol de Janeiro
Coco Cabana Cream

Boxycharm’s Description

Sol de Janeiro’s Coco Cabana Cream instantly transforms dry, dehydrated, irritated skin into its softest, bounciest, most luscious version of itself. Its oil-in-water gel cream texture kisses the body with a CocoSugar blend of fermented sugar and nourishing coconut oil to draw, hold and hug moisture for up to 72 hours. Deliciously scented with their Cheirosa ’39 fragrance with mouthwatering notes of coconut, toasted praline and warm vanilla latte.

My Thoughts & First Impressions

Ooo, I’ll be 100x more excited about this if the coconut scent isn’t too overpowering when I open it– I’m waiting until I run out of my current body butter to do so!

Retail Value: $20.00
Cruelty-Free? Yes

NUDESTIX
Magnetic Luminous Eye Color in Copper Foil

Boxycharm’s Description

A super long-wearing eyeshadow pencil that is soft, super gliding and easy to blend. The NUDESTIX Magnetic Luminous Eye Color is the ultimate multitasker to achieve intense color, precise lining and primes eyelids for all-day waterproof wear to ensure your nude glam lasts.

My Thoughts & First Impressions

Whoa! I really wasn’t expecting much from this little guy. I even was disappointed to see it in the box at first… but, right when I swiped it across my wrist… my heart fluttered. So much pigment, shine, and evenness. Not to mention how soft and easily it glided across! After drying, it did not and would not budge at all. Can’t wait to try it on my eyes… I, truthfully, don’t see it being easy to blend but, only time will tell.

Retail Value: $24.00
Cruelty-Free? Yes

Touch in Sol
No Poreblem Primer

Boxycharm’s Description

Create a seamless canvas for your foundation with your new Touch in Sol No Poreblem Primer. The light, silky texture blurs pores and wrinkles, giving your skin a soft velvet feel. Green tea and collagen act as adhesives, holding on tight to your makeup for many hours of flawlessness.

My Thoughts & First Impressions

I was eager to test this out when I saw it but, nervous to use it on my face right away. Luckily, I thought to try it out on my wrist first. The scent is unbearable (super perfume-y) and I would’ve had a massive headache had I applied it correctly. It’s not a scent that fades away over time either, it sticks in your nose and on your skin.

I tested out eyeshadows over the primer and compared the swatches and longevity to my other wrist without it. The shades didn’t change in pigmentation BUT, they were definitely kept in place longer and not easily smudged on the side with the primer. I wish this was fragrance-free but, since it’s not… I won’t be taking the risk of using it properly.

Retail Value: $18.00
Cruelty-Free? Unsure

Total Box Value: $118.00

  1. Oh what a bummer about the fragrance in that primer! I never knew certain fragrances bothered me before until I tried a laundry detergent that was absolutely, sickeningly, overpowering. Now I can definitely see how such a strong scent can be so awful. I wonder why they thought that was a good idea in something that’s literally on your face all day haha.

    1. YEAH seriously, the scent was so strong & it’s a face product?? Makes no sense. I mean I understand it for body lotions & stuff, even if I don’t like it then either, but a primer? No, thank you. πŸ˜›

  2. I’m curious about the Coco Cabana cream. I’ve tried their Bum Bum Cream and although it was strong, it smelled amazing.

The copper eye pencil is so gorgeous! I have an eyeliner that is that same color and I love it.

I received No PoreBlem in my ipsy bag this month, but mine is priming water, so I think it might be a bit different. I haven’t used it yet.

    1. I was wondering what the difference between this & The Bum Bum cream was? Are they same just with different scents or are they completely different products?

I can’t wait to try that eye pencil on my lids & as an eyeliner, too. The color really is gorgeous. ❀

Oh interesting that you got a No Poreblem product in your Ipsy. I had never heard of the brand before but, can't wait to hear your thoughts on the priming water.

  3. Ooh i like the sound of what you received in this box! I would LOVE to try the better than sex mascara, please review it when you try it again 😍 I have heard such good things, maybe the mini you got before just wasn’t v good? Like from a bad batch? I want to hear a good review but in general I’m super curious to hear your thoughts! That primer sounds horrendous, just because of the scent! Horrible 😱

  4. That is so interesting that we basically got the same products except the bronzer/highlighter haha.
I did not like the scent to the body cream and I didn’t really notice an overpowering scent on the primer. I did apply a bit to the back of my hand on my video but I don’t remember the scent being too strong. I’ll keep it in mind when I use it on my face lol.
The eye pencil/crayon I’m giving to my mom because I’m just not a fan and i know i will never use them.

    1. I know!! I wonder if they are basing it on our beauty profiles more now? Maybe ours are similar?

I am so bummed to hear that about the body cream. 😦 Do you know what the difference is between this one & the Bum Bum? Is it just the scent has changed?

I put that primer on my wrist & I heard that’s where you’re supposed to apply perfume to make the smells come out more so maybe that’s why it was so strong to me? I hope it works out for you. I’m curious to know how it works on the face!

I was really surprised by that eye pencil, your mom is going to love it! ❀

      1. I sure hope so! But who knows? Usually the box variations stay the same but I’m also not entirely sure how many box variations they create.

The scent is stronger for this one. I’ll have to see the ingredients list for both and compare and I’ll be sure to note that when I review the box. But then scent is definitely different, very sweet.
Ah lol I do that with my perfume too haha. But yeah it might be why! Let me know if the scent is still too strong. I tried it on my face yesterday and I didn’t notice any strong scent

        1. Have you seen the full Boxyluxe reveal?? They posted it on Instagram so I didn’t send you the e-mail. πŸ˜›

Okay! Looking forward to your review! Another blogger mentioned the strong scent of the primer & that it made her break out, I bet the same would happen for me so I don’t think I’ll risk using it, unfortunately. πŸ˜› I wish I hadn’t even tested it out so I could include it in a giveaway!

              1. I think the box looks okay? Lol. I’m not too sure how I will feel about the products until I have them in front of me I guess? Lol. It happens a lot, I’m always like “eh I’m not gonna like that” and when I have it in my hands I change my mind lol. I think the cream is one product I’m curious about because some people talk about it being their holy grail.

                1. I know exactly what you mean about changing your mind on a product when it is actually in your presence! Happens to me too! I def am interested in that cream too & I want the little nail lacquer duo lol. πŸ˜›

  5. I could’ve sworn this was the blog post where you linked to a mascara in a yellow tube. I pulled you up on my phone at Walmart but couldn’t find that post. I scanned the mascaras and found some yellow ones and I think I got the one I remembered you saying was your favorite. LOL

  6. Omg I LOVE LOVE LOVE Nudestix – they’re one of my top brands!! The color you received in your box looks lovely! Also, the No Poreblem Primer looks like something I would like.

Boxycharm seems like a high quality subscription box for sure!

    1. The Nudestix Pencil is really wonderful!! I’m loving it. πŸ˜€ Hopefully I’ll get to try more by the brand in the future boxes. I totally wish I didn’t even use the Primer so I could include it in my next giveaway.

I do think Boxycharm is a bang for your buck!!
