Happy Sushi Sunday, friends! πŸ˜€

I would have written this Journal Entry a lot earlier but, I got sucked into watching continuous episodes of The Great British Baking Show. It’s just so much fun lol.

Yesterday, boyfriend had to go to work. He went to Albertson’s to pick me up a salad kit before he left. He got me this yummy one I had never tried before with an Asian dressing made out of Tahini. It came with these weird cracker crumbs and sunflower seeds then, I also added some wonton strips we already had and some pre-cooked chicken boyfriend had also bought for me.

Before I ate, I had taken a shower, shaved, and moisturized. I also did both my stomach and booty workout. I watched the baking show while I ate and all the way until boyfriend got home. It was around 9 PM when he arrived with my espresso. I did my makeup and hair quickly before we hit our fave bar for some cocktails. Boyfriend also ordered a delicious club sandwich and fries to-go from there.

I got to work around midnight and left at like, 04:30 AM.

Today, I finally got my glasses in the mail!!!

I ordered them off this website called Eye Buy Direct. I had them bookmarked ever since Kaci included them in one of her Friday Faves. Once I got my updated prescription, it was time to try this whole new world out.

These boxes were separately packed into plain white boxes that were stacked and taped together. They were easily set inside my mailbox. I am surprised that more protection wasn’t needed!

The coolest thing is that the pouch the glasses came in is not only a little protector for your lenses but you can also use it to clean them! I chose two pairs and they both fit a bit differently. I do think it has to do with the styles I chose though, nothing to do with my measurements or the online system.

The ones on top are called Yokote and the bottom ones are called Chilling. There is a pretty flower pattern around the frame of Chilling but it’s not very noticeable at all in the photos… dang it. 😦 You can adjust the glasses and they teach you exactly how to do so in the pamphlets so, that’s really nice. I’ve got the Yokote to fit me how I like but I need to loosen the other ones around my ears a bit more. Overall, I am SUPER happy with my purchase. The prices were just right and the glasses are made of high quality. I will definitely buy more from this website in the future. I’m thinking some sunglasses next!?

We hurriedly got ready to leave for sushi at Sakana after I messed around with my spectacles a bit. There was a small line when we got there but, luckily, we didn’t have to wait that long for a table.

On the way home, we had to stop at the dispensary and the smoke shop. When we got home, I made a box of Lehi Roller Mills brownies for dessert. I replaced the asked for amount of water with freshly brewed hot dark roast coffee and folded in some mini Oreos and dark choco-covered espresso beans. We don’t have an 8×8 pan anymore so I put it in a loaf-sized one. It had to cook a little longer than the instructions said but, it turned out exceptionally!!

I couldn’t quite detect the Oreos but, the espresso beans gave certain bites a wonderful crunch. Along with my cup of hot black coffee, this was perfection.

When I finally turned off the baking show, I started typing this and boyfriend went to to fill up our water jugs. I also asked him to stop at the store to pick up Mrs. Renfro’s Ghost Pepper Salsa and of course, some tortilla chips. We are currently eating those as I write this… my nose is dripping and my tongue is burning yet… I WANT TO EAT MORE. I do not know what’s wrong with me lol.

I’m gonna finish eating this spicy ass salsa then, work on my post for tomorrow! I hope you all had a nice weekend. ❀

        1. Your optometrist should give you your lens prescription and then you just fill in the numbers on the website. They also have you measure the length between your pupils & you upload a front-facing photo to virtually try the glasses on!

            1. Ah yeah! Sometimes they will be like “now go get your glasses” right after you’re done with the appointment and they keep your prescription so you always have to go back there but next time you go, say “oh could you print out my prescription for me, I’m going to look elsewhere for some glasses.” They should always do that for you but some people care more about money than other people, I guess.

  1. Oh, love your frames! They look really cute πŸ™‚

Damn, that brownie sounds amazing! I love chocolate covered coffee beans! When i started dating my BF, i got a whole pack of those for him when i went on a trip to Naples. He was not particularly impressed, but hey, i got to eat all of it πŸ˜€

    1. Ooh the espresso beans inside were such a good idea! Next time, I’ll try adding more Oreos though. Would be wonderful to actually taste them inside lol.

Thank you, Kaya!! So glad you think the frames are cute. πŸ™‚ I am on Season 02 of the British Baking Show but it’s not actually Season 02, it’s just the second season available for us on Netflix.

      1. Have you got a few recipes that you’d like to try yourself from the show? When it airs on TV in the summer my mouths watering the whole episode. It’s terrible! There’s 9 seasons in the UK… You can normally tell normally tell roughly what season your on by looking at Paul Hollywood’s tan! It just gets darker and darker lol! Xxx

        1. Oh no way!! The recipes in that show seem terribly difficult LOL. Have you tried any?!

Oh okay so we have 6 Seasons here, it must have started on the 3rd Season for us. That makes me on the 4th Season, I would assume! Paul Hollywood is a real hoot, I love when they make fun of his hair hahaha.

  2. Thanks for unboxing your glasses for us. I like them! I’ve always been curious whenever I see an ad for those retro-vintage Warby Parker glasses (or whatever they’re called) pop up in FB.

I don’t like coffee or espresso in my chocolate cakes or brownies (yet I love mochas so explain that!) but that loaf you made looks delicious! And with all your yummy fold-ins? Yum!

Mmmm chips and super spicy salsa! Yassssssss!

    1. Thank you, Jinjer!! πŸ™‚ So glad you like the new glasses. I’ve heard great things about Warby Parker but I’ve actually never checked it out myself.

I think the coffee in replacement of the water is meant to just bring out the chocolate flavor more (at least that’s what I read online). It didn’t have any coffee flavor besides the espresso beans.

The salsa is crazy spicy. I love it!!!

  3. Oh my gosh, I never thought about replacing water in mixes with coffee, but that sounds AMAZING. Oh my gosh Hunida, that’s brilliant. I’m totally doing that next time lol.
Ooh your glasses are SO super cute. I’m glad it all worked out so well for you and that you can adjust them as you need! Sounds like it’s another great website to buy glasses, and I’ve never heard of them! Between them, Zenni, and GlassesUSA, I don’t think I’ll ever buy glasses in a glasses retailer again. πŸ˜‰ Oh and Joshua and I just ordered sunglasses from Zenni! He needed a good pair & Zenni is inexpensive, and I needed a prescription pair so it worked out. Can’t wait for them to get here!

    1. I read it online lol! They said it brings out the chocolate flavors more than water would but, it doesn’t add any coffee flavor to it at all. The espresso beans did though!

Thank you, Courtney! So happy you like my glasses. πŸ˜€ No need to go into a retailer anymore ever again, right?! I def need to get my sunnies order in!!

      1. That’s so interesting that the coffee didn’t actually add any coffee flavor! I definitely still want to try it though, at least just to see about it adding more chocolate flavors.

I love your frames! Did you “try them on” with a selfie? If so, do they look like you expected, or different? Mine always look different than expected on me, but I’ve loved all of them anyway so it worked out haha.

        1. Yeah I guess it’s not supposed to add coffee flavors unless you add MORE than the called for water amount. I don’t know! I just read it online lol.

Yes! I did try them on with a selfie. πŸ˜‰ I think they actually did turn out quite the same but I can’t remember now, to be honest!!

  4. Sushi Sunday… I like the sound of that! Also, I keep hearing such great things about The Great British Baking Show and I love baking… so why haven’t I watched it yet?! What am I doing with my life?!

How sweet that your boyfriend picked you up a salad kit. I should have Jimmy surprise me with a meal that he picks out some time! That would be fun πŸ™‚

I am dying over those brownies! They sound so good!!

Also, you’re a champ for being able to eat spicy salsa like that!! I’m like that with Korean food… the spicier the better and the more I want, haha!

    1. Hahah yes, Sushi Sunday needs to be as big as Taco Tuesday. πŸ˜€ You are gonna love The British Baking Show when you finally give it a chance. I can’t believe it took me so long to turn it on either!

Hahaha well, he didn’t surprise me with it. I asked him to get it for me so I wouldn’t have to walk later. πŸ˜›

YESSS, spicy foods are painful but addicting, aren’t they?! ❀

  5. Oohh Sushi Sunday! Love that!! Gonna have to make that a thing around here. Isn’t the Great British Baking Show so great?! I was especially obsessed with it around Christmas.

Your glasses are soooo cute! Great picks!

That sushi & shashimi looks absolutely incredible. WOW.

Those brownies are making my mouth water- it’s literally all good things in a single baked good!

Lol- I’m the same way with spicy food- if my eyes and nose aren’t watering then it’s not spicy enough! Thanks for sharing, Hunida πŸ™‚

    1. Hahaha yesss, maybe Sushi Sunday will be as big as Taco Tuesday one of these days. πŸ˜€ The Great British Baking Show is SO great. I can’t stop watching it LOL.

Thank you, Mackenzie!!! So glad you think my new specs are cute. πŸ˜€ ❀

The sushi restaurant we were at prob has the best raw fish for an AYCE joint, we hate going anywhere else now & the brownie loaf!! Lol, yeah, I couldn't believe how well it turned out. πŸ˜€

HAHAHA yes, we are the same with the spicy foods. ❀ ❀

    1. I am having a little bit of a hard time adjusting the glasses to fit around my ears nicely! I tried the under hot water technique they suggested & didn’t really get much of a result. Do all of the ones you order fit perfectly right off the bat??

LOL yes, it is annoying when it happens but it’s not spicy enough if it doesn’t. πŸ˜‰

      1. Mine were actually too tight when I first wore them but they loosened after a week or so to fit perfectly. I wonder if you could boil some water & carefully dip the ear pieces in after the boiling stops to see if the extra heat helps?

        Liked by 1 person

        1. Oh! That’s really nice to know they ended up fitting perfectly. I’ll have to try wearing them more but the boiling water might work, too! Thanks for the tips. ❀
