Ipsy Glam Bag | February 2019

Hello there, fellow beauty lovers! It’s that time of the month again where I unbox (unbag?) my Ipsy Glam Bag!

The pouch this month was absolutely adorable. I loved how every lip print looked to be from a different woman and the pink shade used against the white background was perfect for the theme.

YEP, you read that right. Ipsy has actually written a theme on the top of their postcard AND on the other side… dun dun dun… they FINALLY have descriptions for each product!!! I will no longer have the right to say “here’s the pointless postcard.” šŸ˜‰

What Was in My Bag?

Theme: Swoon So Hard

Lab For You
Multi-Ex Repair Cream

Ipsy’s Description

This brand was created by derms and experts in aesthetics who know how to deal with all skin types. This rich cream instantly calms and drenches skin with moisture–even the most sensitive. Acne prone? It’s also infused with witch hazel to help fight breakouts.

My Thoughts & First Impressions

I’ve only been using this cream for the past couple of days. The formula isn’t one I’ve tried before. It comes out as a normal looking opaque, white lotion but, instantly becomes a super thin, clear oil/serum when it touches your skin. I’m not going to comment on how it has made my face feel because I haven’t tested it out long enough yet. I do think that it has softened the redness around a problem area.

Full-Size Retail Value: $48.00 (100mL / 3.3 fl. oz.)
Cruelty-Free?: Probably not

Chella
Eyeliner Pen in Brown

Ipsy’s Description

Ex-NFL player Chris Kolodziejski’s mom inspired him to launch Chella, a brand that promotes confidence and self-expression through beauty. This precise, felt-tip liner is great for creating sharp wings, graphic lines–you name it.

My Thoughts & First Impressions

The tip of this “pen” is way too soft. It flattened completely and made a much fatter liner than I had hoped for on my wrist. It is very pigmented at first swipe though and the liquid spreads evenly and consistently. It was also long-lasting (on my wrist) and a bit of a toughie to wipe away with a simple baby wipe. I don’t think it will come to much use for me but, I’ll try it out once or twice.

Retail Value: $21.00
Cruelty-Free?: Yes

Ciate London
Glow-to Highlighter in Moondust

Ipsy’s Description

Ciate is known for innovative formulas–and this illuminating powder is no exception. This champagne pink, velvety-soft highlighter has celestial duo chrome pearls that reflect light to give you a gorg, lit-from-within glow.

My Thoughts & First Impressions

Blah, I prefer golden highlighters over pink, pearlescent ones such as this one. It’s also one of those that defines all of your textures and baby face hairs. I hate the packaging, too. I’ll probably just throw this out soon enough.

Full-Size Retail Value: $29.00
Cruelty-Free?: Yes

Laqa & Co.
Prickly Pear pH Gloss

Ipsy’s Description

This brand is inspired by the bold colors, patterns, and artistic vibes of NYC’s Lower East Side. And this prickly-pear pink gloss is just as unique. This formula adjusts to your skin’s pH levels, enhancing or softening it’s pink undertones to create your own custom shade.

My Thoughts & First Impressions

I received a pretty lovely eyeshadow palette from this brand in a past Lola Beauty Box and now, I am in love with this strawberry candy scented gloss! So far, I am a fan of Laqa & Co. My boyfriend kept calling me “cute pink lips” when I was wearing this. šŸ™‚ The formula really worked its magic to turn into the exact right shade of pink for me.

Full-Size Retail Value: $15.00 (you can buy this sample size for $5.00)
Cruelty-Free?: Yes

F.A.R.A.H. Brushes
Powder Brush 50F

Ipsy’s Description

This brand’s known for luxe brushes that won’t break the bank. Versatile enough to apply setting powders, bronzers, and blush. This brush has super soft bristles that blend color smoothly and evenly.

My Thoughts & First Impressions

The neighbors probably heard me squeal when I saw this in my bag. It was, once again, not able to fit in the pouch but… oh well. I GOT ANOTHER BRUSH. It’s by the same brand as the last brush they sent me but, the design is different and it’s a big one. I’m so happy. Thank you, Ipsy. ā¤

Retail Value: $15.00
Cruelty-Free?: Yes

  1. I love these companies so much but it hurts me to have to pay money each month for something when I’m certain half of the items I won’t even love lol

I actually never subscribed to Ipsy, but this girl who used to mooch off my brother ordered them to deliver to our apartment and once she pissed me off so much I just stole her Ipsy package. (don’t worry, she stole, threw away and also used my brother so much so I wasn’t stealing her stuff for fun)
Anyways, the items were so cute and I still have the little bag. Its so adorable!
    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Honestly, I think the subscriptions are worth it because usually the one item you do love costs the same as the whole thing. I am laughing out loud about you stealing that makeup bag hahaha. You should totally consider re-subscribing. šŸ™‚ It’s always fun getting the little bag in the mail!

    1. Ah, I’m glad you didn’t like the highlighter either. šŸ˜› It just didn’t show up that well for me & was wiping away so easily… I thought I was doing something wrong lol.

I’m sorry you need to get your car repaired! Ours isn’t in great shape either so I know the pain. ā¤ Hope you can get your subscriptions back soon!!

  2. Ooh what a fun bag!! I love the lips design and also the BRUSH, oh my gosh! It’s so so so pretty, big, and fluffy!! Way to go Ipsy! lol. Also, I totally thought that liner on your wrist looked like a pretty thick line at first, and then I read that the soft tip flattened out. That’s a bummer because that would be a disaster probably for winged liner! Strange.

    1. It was a fun bag!! I was definitely happy with it. šŸ™‚ The design was super cute & YES! That brush is sooo pretty and soft.

Yeah!! I know people like to use those liners for wings so, I don’t think this one would be so easy to accomplish that with!

  3. I haven’t even gotten my February glam bag yet. šŸ˜¦ I ordered a few extra products this month though, so I can’t wait to get it.

I got that same Ciate highlighter in a previous bag. I like it, but it’s not the best highlighter I’ve ever used. Plus, it is a bit light. Because of your skin tone, gold highlighters would look better on you, so I can see how you prefer them. For me, I think blue highlighters look best on me.

    1. Weird! Maybe the extra items held the package back a bit. If you post it this month, I can’t wait to see what you get. šŸ™‚

Yeah, that Ciate highlighter wasn’t for me. I’ve never tried a blue highlighter but I really want to!

        1. Can’t wait to see!!! Did you get the extras by doing the new add-ons they are talking about on the postcards? Are they sample sized things? I want to see what each month’s add-ons are but, I don’t want to have to reveal my bag early. šŸ˜›

          1. Yes, I did the new add-ons. You can choose up to three and you can get full size products or sample products. I went with samples because it’s cheaper. šŸ˜› I actually had a snow day from work today, so I took the photos of my glam bag, which means I’ll definitely be posting my thoughts on my blog. šŸ˜› However, I need to try out all the products first.

            1. I hope they make it available for us to look at the add-ons without revealing our bags first soon. How fun that you had a snow day! It’s snowing here right now! Can’t wait to see your post! ā¤

  4. That eyeliner pen looks too thick. Or maybe you applied too much pressure? Either way, brown is not a color I would pick for eyeliner lol
Pink highlighters dont look good on warm skin tones/undertones. And I used to hate those little samples because you have no way of storing it. Do they really expect everyone to own a z-palette?!
That shade of pink is nice and so subtle for you. Looks great on you!
And yay for more pretty brushes!!

    1. LOL I probably was a little rough with it BUT I have done the exact same with other liners & the tip didn’t just smash down like that. I was curious about how I would look with a brown liner but I almost didn’t even open it. šŸ˜› Kinda wish I hadn’t now.

Yeah, I was not into that pink highlighter… I was wondering the same thing… like “do they expect us all to have a z-palette?!” so many stupid samples are like this one. I hate it!!

      Thank you, Rossy!!!! ā¤

      1. Haha well when it doesn’t compare to others you have then you know its probbaly not as great. I do remember the fat eyeliners used to be a thing but now everyone wants the thin brush tip lol
I think I got rid of a lot of those little samples. Omg no I didn’t. I think I have three left. I was forced to buy a palette from Amazon. Ulta has some too but they’re too big and you dont need something that big for only one or two products
