Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!

Can you guys believe that this is my 199th Journal Entry?! Next time I write, it will be number 200. That is nuts. I feel like I just started this little blog yesterday…

If you ever notice the time stamp, I’m writing this earlier than usual because I neeeed to talk about Dear Evan Hansen right now. (The Broadway Musical that I attended last night at The Smith Center, here in Las Vegas!!!)

I never really mess about in this main lobby ^, I’m always alone so I don’t have anyone to take a photo with and the line for souvenirs is always a mess. Hate this area but, I will always pause to snap a photo of each show’s little setup.

I like to spend my time waiting for the doors to open in this lobby ^ (pictured above). It’s much more calm and peaceful. But, before I was able to relax, I ran to their dining room and grabbed a little choco chip cookie (def not dairy-free…) and a cup of hot black coffee.

When the doors opened and I went up to find my seat, I somehow stopped a row too early and sat in the wrong spot. I noticed right when I put my butt down that the view wasn’t the same as it has been all the previous times LOL. I don’t know how it happened but, I got up right away– I felt bad because I had to make two trips squeezing through the same people… well, actually three trips, because I forgot my bottle of water and had to go back to get it. Oh my gosh, I was looking like a crazy person but, I didn’t let myself sweat it. ๐Ÿ˜›

Finally, I was situated in my seat and comfy enough to flip through the pages of the program. I go into every play blindly, as in, I never read what it’s about first. Fortunately, even though so many people talked about this one, I was able to avoid all spoilers and even synopsis’. I knew nothing about Dear Evan Hansen and I’m ever so glad I was able to go in this way.

This musical deserves all the praise it has been receiving. It’s touching, emotional, beautiful, modern, and even funny. I laughed out loud more than I have at any other show but, I also heard the audience (and maybe myself, as well) sniffling sooo much. I’ve never been in a crowd of criers before!

Every single one of the cast members was incredible– they were so believable in their roles. Evan’s (Ben Levi Ross) voice was absolutely flawless. It gave me teary-eyes and goosebumps; I never heard him falter or fumble once. Zoe (Maggie McKenna) was also a shining star. Her voice was music to my ears, not only when she sang, but also when she simply spoke. I wish there had been more songs with Connor (Marrick Smith); I needed to hear more of that manly, smooth voice! That’s already almost the entire cast but, I have to mention one more actress that stood out to me, Heidi (Jessica Phillips). She was just wow! She stirred up the most emotion in the crowd with her second act songs. First, in my personal favorite, “Good For You” but, especially (by the sounds of the sniffles around me getting thicker) in “So Big/So Small.” My throat was closing up at both.

I do have to admit I wasn’t the biggest fan of Alana’s (Phoebe Koyabe) voice. Every time she sang, I cringed… thankfully, she only sang like two lines on her own. Though, I have no complaints about her acting– she cracked me up! I was also almost bored to death by “To Break in a Glove.” Not only did I not like the song but, Larry’s (Aaron Lazar) voice wasn’t that great and his stage presence was very weak. He wasn’t fun to watch at all.

Okay, dinner is done so I must photograph and eat it now! BRB!

04:38 PM

Ooo-weee, that was delicious!! โค Now, where was I??

Oh right, I was telling you my minor complaints about the show… I don’t have anymore about the songs or singing but…

I wish there had been different backgrounds, settings, and scenes. The weird digital, social media, Microsoft Word, baby pictures thing kind of creeped me out. It seemed like a cop out, too, they really only had beds, couches, and tables for props? Where’s the creativity in that?

Overall, the story line flowed extremely well, even with the small time jumps. I was incredibly invested in everything that was going on, so much so, I kind of forgot to worry about the most important bit… it surprised me and broke my heart when it was revealed.

Other than “Good For You,” “Requiem” and “Sincerely, Me” were my other two favorite songs. All of the other ones I didn’t mention were amazing, too. Dear Evan Hansen has been the best show of my 2018/2019 Broadway Season.

BUT, I better quit yammering away now… or this post should’ve been titled My Dear Evan Hansen Review lol.

It was raining quite heavy yesterday and it stayed dark all day. I slept in super late and it was so peaceful. When I woke up, I showered, ate dinner, and wrote my post for The Book of Essie before it was time to head out for the musical. When I got home, all I did was play The Sims. ๐Ÿ™‚

My oldest daughter finally moved out and I got the family a cute little kitten. Now, they have an adult female dog named Mochi and a male kitten named Oliver! They are both adorable. I wish we could do more with them though. Like, maybe even be able to switch controls to them like with toddlers.

Today, I woke up early around 10:30 AM. I read some blogs on my Reader but sadly, there weren’t that many new posts. I finally have caught all the way up on reading your blogs!!! I am a bit sad I have nothing to read on the toilet now though hahaha.

Instead, I decided to read The Accidentals which I started a few days ago and am now more than halfway through. From what I’ve read, it’s enjoyable and easy. I found this one on a Goodreads Best of 2018 list, too… hopefully it makes up for the last one.

I took a shower at almost 2 PM, kind of woke boyfriend up…(hehe), took some pictures of my January Ipsy and Boxycharm products before the sun set! Then, I hopped onto here, started writing this, and I’ve been here ever since. (Minus my quick dinner/Futureman intermission.)

Now, I’m gonna smoke a blunt with boyfriend, drink some hot black coffee, possibly make some cookies… and, you guessed it, spend the rest of my night playing The Sims!! ๐Ÿ˜€ When will this addiction end?!

  1. I keep forgetting to ask you how you make your pretty little Journal Entry image thingies.

    199 journal entries is amazing!!!!

    Mmmm that cookie looks delicious!

I like how you always show us a picture of the stage and the program…playbill…whatever that thing is called. LOL And I’m really glad to hear that the play was great!

Don’t you hate when you’re caught up on blogs??? It’s like “Hurry up and write a new one, people! What’s taking so long???” LOL I have to continuously look for new blogs to fill in the gaps.

    1. Oh I make them on Adobe Spark Post! (spark.adobe.com) & there’s another site called Canva.com that I use for some of my other Featured Images. ๐Ÿ™‚

I can’t believe tomorrow will be Journal #200! & you can never go wrong with a choco chip cookie. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ahh, that’s the word I was looking for: “playbill” lol. For some reason, I couldn’t think of it and called it a “program” because that’s what it’s labelled as on the cover LOL.

It does suck not seeing any new posts when I’m in the mood to read some lol, sometimes I have to go and look for new blogs to fill in the gaps, too, but that’s always hard digging through the bad ones to find the good ones!

  2. Haha when you said that your oldest daughter finally moved out, at first I didn’t realize you were talking about the Sims! I was like, “How can she possibly have an adult daughter when she’s gotta be younger than me?” Then I understood what you were talking about ๐Ÿ™‚

That play sounds really great! I’m not familiar with My Dear Evan Hanson though, what’s it about?

I hope you’re doing well. I’ll be releasing a short post tomorrow, so you’ll have something to read (and watch) while you’re on the toilet, lol.

    1. LOL!! I was wondering if anyone would think that. I do not have any real children in real life!! ๐Ÿ˜› Whew!

Plus, I’d have to have had my baby when I was like 5 for her to be old enough to move out now hahaha.

Dear Evan Hansen was fabulous!! It’s about a boy who feels lonely and has tons of anxiety. There’s another boy in his grade that commits suicide and… I won’t say anymore from there! ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope you’re doing well, too!!! โค Thank you for stopping by! I love reading your comments. ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Haha, I figured you would’ve had to have been pregnant at an impossibly young age to have a daughter who’s moving out already! Although if I remember correctly from my undergrad psychology classes, apparently girls are hitting puberty younger than ever before โ€“ although definitely not as young as 5! I think it has something to do with all the growth hormones and other crap in modern food, but don’t quote me on that.

I already feel bad for Evan Hansen based on your brief description! Poor kid ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

I’m glad you like my comments! I had much less time to spend on the blogosphere for a few months, but now I’m not quite so busy ๐Ÿ™‚

        1. Ah that’s so interesting! I got my period when I was 9. It was a surprise to me and my mom lol.

Aw yes, poor Evan Hansen. He is a very lovable character. โค & the blogosphere is so glad to have you back!!

    1. Gosh, I’m so glad I had season tickets or I wouldn’t have been able to snag a spot. They sold out even before the first day of it!! I hope you guys are able to get a spot and see it when it tours to where you are!! โค

  3. Haha! I love the part where you might have looked crazy walking around but you didn’t let it sweat it.
Just play it cool! Something I am not really good at yet ๐Ÿ˜‰

Also I think it’s cool that you do these things on your own. Many people are too scared to be seen anywhere alone!

    1. Lol I felt my cheeks starting to get hot and my body start to sweat a little from embarrassment (especially because my seat partner at the previous shows was there and… in the right spot lol) but then I played it off and calmed myself down before I got too worked up. ๐Ÿ˜› Whew! It was no biggie, right?!

I have been doing things alone since high school!! I would even sit at my own lunch table during senior year because all my friends had been dropped out, expelled, or graduated. Being seen alone doesn’t scare me but, I do get worried someone might steal me since they notice I’m alone though! LOL

      1. Oh man! I can imagine haha.

I think that’s really cool, especially in highschool.
I used think people would make fun of me for sitting on my own, but I think now everyone would like to have find time to spend a little time for themselves!

        1. I am sure that people were making fun of me but I didn’t let it bother me! I wanted to eat my lunch and was not going to hide LOL. I notice a lot of women are still afraid to be on their own in public!

  4. Oooh yay big number 199th going for 200th! ๐Ÿ‘

I’m not familiar with Dear Evan Hansen but attending Broadway Musical sounds so cool! And of course I always love how honest you are with your reviews on anything ๐Ÿ˜

Haha you almost got me when you write “my oldest daughter” ๐Ÿ˜‚

    1. I knooow, tomorrow is gonna be number 200! I can’t believe it. ๐Ÿ˜›

Hehe, I’m glad you enjoyed my review!! Do you have Broadway or any theaters around you?? I think you would really love seeing a show. ๐Ÿ™‚ & whew! I’m happy to not have a daughter in real life, my Sims daughter was enough lol.

      1. We don’t have Broadway here but I’ve been to some kind of musical concerts and actually did perform musical theaters once but just a small event though. Would love to see a big big show next time! ๐Ÿ˜Š

    1. I actually really do enjoy going on my own! ๐Ÿ˜€ I wouldn’t mind bringing boyfriend along but, the tickets are usually sold out by the time we find out if he can make it or not!! Thank you, Chanelle! โค

  5. I’ve heard great things about Dear Evan Hansen! Never saw it though; I must admit I don’t go to a lot of shows or musicals anymore. I use to go to more when I was able to get a student discount, haha! They’re just so pricey in NY. Glad you had a lovely time!

    1. I didn’t know you lived in NY! I thought you were in Connecticut because of the CVS thing, but they must be pretty close, huh??

My first time seeing a Broadway show was Kinky Boots in NY!! They are definitely a bit more expensive over there!! Thank you, Erica!! ๐Ÿ˜€

      1. Yup, I live outside of NYC! I used to live in the city proper when I was a student though. Iโ€™m quite close to some areas of Connecticut, like where the CVS beauty store is for example.

I saw the Kinky Boots movie a while ago, which I believe came before the Broadway show. I really liked it!

  6. Dang, girl! 200 journal entries?! Wohooo! Canโ€™t wait to read the next 200! (and everything after that).

Haha I feel ya on that always weaving through people- I do the same, especially because I usually am all about getting the food, drinks, and then have to go to the bathroom a zillion times!! Gotta do what you gotta do! Ahh so good to hear the musical lived up to the hype. Iโ€™d really like to see that someday.

Hah- I love how you blog real time! Itโ€™s so fun. Glad dinner was good ๐Ÿ˜‰

I love the names Mochi & Oliver- sooo darn cute. xo

    1. Ah you’re so sweet!! Thank you for always reading!! โค It'll be crazy when/if I get to 400+ entries!!

LOL ugh, I hate weaving through the people but you're right– you gotta do what you gotta do! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I hope that you'll be able to see Dear Evan Hansen someday!! It was so touching.

      Thank you!! โค โค ๐Ÿ˜€

  7. Oh my gosh I love that you not only sat in the wrong row, but then you had to go back for your water bottle…that’s hilarious and totally something that would happen to me!! I can SO relate lol. I always feel so bad & awkward trying to squeeze through in front of people at theaters.

  8. Every time I read your posts where you mention The Sims, I keep saying I’m going to start playing again and then I never do. ๐Ÿ˜› There just isn’t enough time. Well, mainly because I spend most of my spare time catching up on my TV shows and watching movies. ๐Ÿ˜›

    1. Lol honestly, it is probably better that you don’t! You will get so behind on your shows because you’ll spend all your free time playing instead… or at least that’s what’s going on with me! hahaha.

      Liked by 1 person

  9. That’s so great that you enjoyed the show so much! I probably would have complained about the props too and background scenery because there’s a few plays I’ve gone to before and they make everything it’s so neat.
Cant believe you’re about to write tour 200th journal entry! I cant remember when I started following you but I’m almost positive it was well before 100. Lol
Hope you have a great rest of your week!

    1. Exactly! Especially just having seen The Lion King, I couldn’t help but think more effort could have been put into the scenery!

Gosh, it really doesn’t seem like that long, does it?! Thank you for always stopping by, reading, & chatting with me, Rossy!! I honestly get so excited to read your comments. โค Hope you have a great rest of your week, too!!

        1. It couldn’t have been low budget because it’s seriously almost as big as Hamilton now but I can’t be sure! They were more into the electronic and digital backgrounds… not real stuff, y’know??

Have an amazing weekend, too babe!! โค

  10. Ooooo I might have to go see Dear Evan Hansen after all! I don’t know, I feel like it was so overhyped and I missed that train but I also don’t want to miss out haha! Honestly, the only time I’m in the lobby and hanging out is when I get to the theater early and the doors aren’t open to get to my seat haha!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I was nervous that it wasn’t going to be that good because of how hyped it was but, aw, it’s really sweet. I think you’d love it. Though, the scenery is sooo weird & always the same throughout the whole thing pretty much? & I am always there before the doors open so I have to hangout in the lobby for a bit lol. ๐Ÿ˜›

      1. I think I have stumbled upon an interview about the stage designs and costume before and they wanted people to get a feel that Evan was being sort of sucked into the internet and kinda isolated. That’s why there was so much dark spaces and some kind of kaleidoscope-y feels with all the screens behind.
