I know my Ipsy subscription was only on hold for like two months throughout all of 2018 but, oh my gosh, did I miss it! I am so happy to be receiving it again (even if they added tax fees).

The bag this month had gold sequins and a cute little zipper tassel?! Yes, yes, yes– so freakin’ cute!! The back is black pleather which I’m also lovin’.

What Was In My Bag?!

I am starting to think these postcards are in there to tell us the theme of the bag? Someone let me know if I am onto something!

High Dive Moisture + Shine Creme

Ipsy’s Description:

This dream creme conditions and makes your hair so silky smooth, thanks to a blend of hair-helping ingredients. Sunflower seed extract protects your hair from heat styling. Provitamin B5 helps add serious shine.

My First Impression: Okay, I may actually give this hair product a shot. I like that it protects from heat styling and you are able to let your hair air dry after applying it. I’m never overly excited for any kind of hair product, though.

Full-Size Retail Value: $29.00 (5 fl. oz.)

theBALM Cosmetics
Take Home the Bronze in Greg

Ipsy’s Description:

Want a sunkissed glow that won’t fade through fall? Look no further than this highly-pigmented, matte-finish bronzer. We love it as a bronzer, but it works great as a contour powder too. It’s cruelty-free and vegan!

My First Impression: I was seriously laughing at the little bronze statue man when I first saw this– theBALM always has such fun packaging! I thought the swatch turned out nice and it was definitely super pigmented. I can’t wait to see how it looks on my face.

Full-Size Retail Value: $17.50

Finding Ferdinand
Blush in Skinny Dip

Ipsy’s Description:

This matte-finish blush seriously compliments sparkly eye looks and will probaby be your BFF all party season long. This long-wearing formula is infused with kaolin and mica to keep your blush game strong all day long. The silky-smooth powder blends like a dream for a totally streak-free flush. The cool mauve shade looks gorg on all skin tones. No hard-to-pronounce ingredients to be found here.

My First Impression: The packaging of this blush reminded me of the dispensary! I honestly think that’s what they were going for though? A little tacky in my opinion (because it’s makeup… not weed) and I think this blush is going to be too light for my skin tone. “Gorg on all skin tones,” my ass. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate the person or people who write for Ipsy?

Full-Size Retail Value: $14.00

Trust Fund Beauty
Nail Polish in Zero Carbs

Ipsy’s Description:

This insanely opaque, super-pigmented nail polish is long-lasting and chip resistant. Zero Carbs is a chic, cool-toned gray shade. It’s cruelty-free, vegan, 10-free, and non-GMO.

My First Impression: Um, this is SO purple. I wish it were gray like the description tried to say. I don’t think it’s “insanely opaque” or “super-pigmented” at all. It took three layers to be completely opaque but, it did dry pretty fast compared to a lot of other polishes I’ve used. One day later, with only a base coat and no top, the tips have already chipped away. The formula was easy to work with just a little too thin.

Full-Size Retail Value: $15.00

F.A.R.A.H. Brushes
Tapered Blending Brush 35E

Ipsy’s Description:

The tapered tip of the bristles lets you sweep on shadow precisely and effortlessly without fallout. Use this versatile tool with *all* of your powder and cream shadows to effortlessly blend and diffuse, creating a softer look.

My First Impression: I squealed when I pulled this out. There is nothing I love more than receiving a makeup brush!! Especially a nice, fluffy, eyeshadow one like this. Cannot wait to see how it works. Let me know if you’ve tried any brushes by F.A.R.A.H.!

Full-Size Retail Value: $10.00

Half Caked
Lip Fondant in Power Trip

Ipsy’s Description:

It’s long-lasting, non-drying, and smudge-proof–everything we look for in a matte lip color. The mousse-like texture goes on smooth and feels so light on your lips. Power Trip is a deep crimson with a hint of brick that might just get us over our winter blues. Like all of Half Caked’s products, it’s cruelty-free and 100% vegan.

My First Impression: The shade of this lip fondant is GORGEOUS. Such a deep, dark red. “Crimson with a hint of brick” are the perfect words to describe it. I didn’t wear it for long but, right when it dried I amazingly didn’t get that tight feeling. It goes on super wet and stays that way long enough for you to wipe away any mistakes you may have made. It was a nightmare to remove though.

Full-Size Retail Value: $16.00

    1. Makeup products these days are just so cute & fun!! I get why you still like looking at it. πŸ˜€ The funny names are the best! Especially “Greg” LOL!

I liked the polish color, too, but they described it as gray when it’s really a pale purple! πŸ˜›

  1. Hunida, this was so much fun to read! Amazing post as always–omg you had me cracking up about the statue man πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚The lipstick looks beautiful on you, and it’s such a pretty color! Also, I totally relate to your happiness when it comes to makeup brushes. I’m always excited when I can find a good deal on brushes (I tend to lose them for some reason lol!!) Super cool that they included one in the glambag!! x

    1. Hahaha seriously! Look how silly that statue man is?! What the heck?! And they even named him Greg… I just couldn’t stop laughing when I saw him!

I love the color of that lipstick, too! Thank you, Nunzia. πŸ˜€ & I’m so happy you know what I’m talking about with brushes. They are just so exciting to get! I am bad with losing mine, too!!

    1. I can’t wait to try the brush now!! & I see they gave away so many of the Trust Fund Beauty nail polishes! There was another dark green color that I would’ve loved too. I think it wouldn’t chip as fast with a top coat, maybe? & oh yeah, I love that lipstick!! πŸ˜€

      1. Ooh yesss, since I started following more beauty bloggers over a year ago, I’ve definitely developed a love for makeup brushes! Probably more than makeup itself, but a good brush does make all the difference so it makes sense to me! Haha
I’d never even heard of a lip fondant before! Is that like a lip stain?

        1. Hahaha, okay, not gonna lie but I would rather receive some brushes in my sub boxes over the makeup they send. I feel ya!!

LOL I don’t know why the lipstick is called a lip fondant, I think they were just trying to be cute because the packaging looks like baked goods, y’know?! It’s just a matte liquid lip.

  2. The bag is cute but what’s that about tax fees? Seriously?
The balm has amazing products I still want to buy one of their eyeshadow palettes lol. Hope you like the bronzer. And that blush does look a little light but swatches don’t always look the same as when applied to the face so give it a shot. Worse that can happen is it doesn’t look good as blush BUT you might be able to use it as eyeshadow instead πŸ˜‰
It might be the picture but I kind of see the gray undertones in the polish, I do see the purple tones a lot more though.
    What a cute brush!!
And that lipstick totally suits your skin tone!!

    1. Yeah!! Just like Boxycharm and Sephora, Ipsy added taxes, too. 😦 I guess they are saying only if the certain state makes them do it and Nevada just happens to be one of them. Of course.

Honestly, I’ve had a few eyeshadows by The Balm from these subs before but I’ve never liked them! This bronzer seems a lot better though. Are there other ways to use bronzer besides contouring?? I can’t wait to see how it looks on my face. Same with the blush!! That’s such a good idea to use it as an eyeshadow if need be. πŸ™‚

I’ve been looking at the polish a bit more as it’s on my nails and I guess it does look darkish gray sometimes but def more pale/muted purple, in my opinion.

The brush really was such a treat to find and the lipstick was such a deep red, I’ve never owned such a color before. I love it!! Thank you!! πŸ™‚

      1. Did they really? I I didn’t know that, that sucks! I don’t think they would do that here, we’re tax free, until tax season of course lol.
Huh, that’s interesting. A lot of people rave about them, the bad thing is they don’t sell theBalm in stores so I wouldn’t be able to go and swatch πŸ˜‘
Well depending on the bronzer, you CAN use it for contouring, but it’s also nice to apply it where you would contour, lightly of course, to warm up the face a bit.
Yes! Muted purple is the perfect description for that polish.

        1. That’s lucky! We don’t have to pay state taxes during tax season but we have taxes on absolutely everything else. Did you see Boxycharm put up some spoilers on their IG? πŸ˜€

Ohh I didn’t know that theBalm wasn’t sold in stores. Interesting! I still haven’t used the bronzer yet. πŸ˜›

          1. I did not, but have been checking the sneak peek IG you told me about LMAO, I’m excited but I will be less excited if I get the natural shades palette from Tarte LOL, I don’t think I’ll get much use out of it, so if get it I’m gonna give it away πŸ˜‰
Well, that I know of, at least I haven’t seen it anywhere or maybe I’m not looking hard enough LMAO

            1. They just posted the same things as the sneak peek IG, I think. It just it makes it more official now, y’know?! Lol. I can’t wait to get mine! I hope to get the one with the pink shades.
