I reactivated my Ipsy account in late November; I was charged for it right away. I got an e-mail saying I was going to get the December bag so, I was confused when I was charged once again when the first of the month hit. I e-mailed them to ask about the double charge and they told me to check my spam (and to add them to my contact book so it wouldn’t happen again, lol). I found an e-mail from them in there saying that they had extra November bags and were sending me one! In their response, they also gave me a tracking number… my bag was only a day away from reaching me!

So my first bag after reactivation was actually the November bag even though I got it in early December.

Let’s get into it!

I loved the bag. It’s simple but, cute. The light is shining on it annoyingly in my photo but, there are little black hearts all over a dark blue background.

Here’s the pointless card they always include in their bags… ^

What Was In My Bag?!

Oribe Hair Care
Dry Texturizing Spray

Ipsy’s Description:

This texturing formula is not a dry shampoo, but it’s made with patented polymers that soak up excess oils and adds volume, in addition to giving your hair tons of texture.

My Review: My hair is too picky so any and all hair products I receive are going into a giveaway pile.

Full-Size Retail Value: $46.00 (8.5 fl. oz.)

Make Beauty
Cream Luminous Lip Gloss in Victoria Plum

Ipsy’s Description:

It’s long-lasting, buildable, and not the least bit sticky (and won’t catch your hair on those windy days). Victoria Plum is a plummy-mauve shade with red undertones.

My Review: Love this lipgloss. It’s actually really pigmented for a shiny finish. It was more of a dark pink than a “plummy-mauve” though. My lips were dry in the photo but, after wearing this they actually became moisturized and that peeling skin was no longer.

Full-Size Retail Value: $25.00

Prep + Prime Natural Radiance in Radiant Yellow

Ipsy’s Description:

For a glowy, dewy, lit-from-within look, this primer just might be your new go-to. This multitasker helps control oil, hydrates, smooths and softens skin. Bonus: It leaves a nice, subtle sheen. Try it just before foundation–it goes on evenly and it lasts…and lasts.

My Review: We all know MAC products are fail-proof. When will they stop selling in China?! 😦 This primer is so lightweight and moisturizing. It sunk into my skin right away and all of my makeup products went on extremely smoothly over it. It left me with no creases, pores, or uneveness anywhere.

Full-Size Retail Value: $42.00 (1.7 fl. oz.)

NOMAD Cosmetics
Illuminating Highlighter in Midnight Sun

Ipsy’s Description:

The reflective, golden champagne shade is inspired by the “midnight sun” in Sweden–it literally doesn’t set all summer. And neither will your long-lasting glow. The finely-milled formula is blendable and buildable–one swipe made us subtly sunkissed, a few more and our skin was luminous. A gorg highlighter, it works double time on our eyelids, too.

My Review: I have never gotten such a tiny highlighter sample. It is the size of an eyeshadow pan… but, it is pretty and it felt nice and soft on the surface. I haven’t tried it on my cheeks or eyes yet.

Full-Size Retail Value: $17.00

Make Up For Ever
Ultra HD Liquid Foundation in Y445

Ipsy’s Description:

Your search for a natural-looking foundation is over–it evens out your complexion without looking too cakey or heavy. Customize your coverage: This medium-to-full coverage formula is super lightweight, breathable, and buildable. The natural, dewy finish looks amazing in any lighting sitch.

My Review: I am not a fan of Make Up For Ever. The shade I received was a bit too dark for me and it felt really thick and heavy on my skin. The formula was more runny than I prefer, too.

Full-Size Retail Value: $24.00 (15 mL)

    1. I had never heard of the MAC primer before, either but it’s really so nice. πŸ™‚ I’m using it daily until it’s all gone lol. The NOMAD highlighter is quite pretty but, I’m nervous it won’t suit my skin tone so well.

  1. I’m actually happy that you’re re-subscribed to these make up bags! It always was a huge inspiration on what to purchase and what not to πŸ˜€
I have no completely quit foundation however and have started using a BB cream. It doesn’t give a much coverage, but at least I canot go wrong with the shade!

    1. Hehe, I couldn’t stay away from them for too long. ❀ It makes me so happy that you actually take my words into consideration when you purchase products!! πŸ˜€

I've seen a lot of people switching to BB Creams over foundations lately but I've only tried a couple BB creams and they seem the same as a light-medium coverage foundation to me lol. I can't tell the difference!

      1. BB creams don’t do much as cover, indeed.
But because of that, I do spend more time on my actual skin. I am now every morning and evening using cream for hydraution and wrinkles, toners and serums πŸ˜€

  2. I actually never posted my November Ipsy bag. lol I might post it if I get around to it, but if not I will just skip that post this month and go on to my December glam bag post, since I will be getting that one in about a week.

I actually like Make Up For Ever. Although I’ve only tried a couple of their products before. Sorry to hear you’re not a fan. I’ve never tried any of their foundations before.

I received a Nomad eyeshadow in a previous Ipsy bag, but not any highlighters from them. I’m not a big fan of the ones I got though, and that highlighter would definitely be too light for me. I’m glad they didn’t send me that.

I have literally never tried a MAC product in my life. They are just so expensive, I think. Ipsy has never sent me anything of theirs.

I received a Smashbox lip cream in my bag. It’s like an orangey copper color. It’s gorgeous! I feel like you would look so pretty in this shade too. Too bad they didn’t send it to you, even though you seem to enjoy the gloss.

I also received that Oribe texturizing spray in my bag also and I HATE it! You know I like my hair products, but not ones like that! It feels similar to wearing hair spray or mousse in your hair. I hate that feeling. It would be good for styling if you’re trying to hold hair in place, but I literally just blow dry or straighten my hair and that’s it. I don’t really do any styling. Plus, I have a habit of running my hands through my hair, and you can’t really do that if you use this spray.

    1. My December bag has already been shipped, too! Can’t wait to see what we both get. πŸ˜€

I’ve tried MUFE lipsticks and another one of their foundations… and I just wasn’t a fan of any of it. πŸ˜› What were the products that you liked of theirs?

I am nervous the highlighter won’t look so good on me but, I am hoping it will blend in a bit more on my cheeks?? I’ll have to try it once. Why didn’t you like their eyeshadows?

MAC is too good. Their setting spray and lipsticks are the best. I haven’t found anything that’s cruelty-free that can replace them… 😦

Ooh, I would so have loved to receive that Smashbox lip cream. I do seem to prefer glosses because I’m more likely to wear them but, I need to start trying more colors and styles. πŸ˜›

LOL!! I am so glad I didn’t use that hair stuff now!!

  3. Wow, looks like you got some interesting items! I’ve been really curious to try anything from Make Beauty. Their products seem right up my alley, but I guess they don’t have a relationship with Birchbox cause that’s the box I get.

    1. This was a really fun bag. πŸ˜€ I had never heard of Make Beauty before but, I did like the lipgloss a lot! ❀ Maybe Birchbox will establish a relationship with the company in the future! They seem to work with the same brands as Ipsy often.

      1. I’m starting to think that Birchbox may not be the best subscription box to be honest! I read a lot of other bloggers’ posts on their boxes, and they get a lot of full size items from really interesting brands. It’s giving me serious FOMO πŸ˜†!

  4. That double charge would have given me a panic, lol! I’m so glad they let you know it was for the November bag, though, and how fun that they sent it to you even though it was early December! The bag really is so cute.

    1. I was def super annoyed about the double charge but I really trust Ipsy & knew that they’d give it back to me immediately if it really had been a mistake! I’m happy that it wasn’t & that I got an extra bag, hehe. πŸ˜€
