Journal Entry #168

I think I’m starting to feel a teensy bit better now but, I’m not all the way ready to get back to work. Boyfriend has now caught my bug, too… poor feller.

Yesterday, boyfriend worked the evening shift. I didn’t do much besides catch up reading blogs. When he got home, we went out to eat at Applebee’s because it’s close by and we weren’t feelin’ up for a long drive. Plus, ya can’t beat half-priced apps after 9 PM, am I right?

We chose to start with the Wonton Tacos, Boneless Hot Wings, and a Chicken Tortilla Soup (that I completely hogged).

For my main entree, I got the Thai Shrimp Salad.

It was pretty good– I’m just not a huge fan of the small shrimps. I prefer the big and plump ones.

Boyfriend got some type of monstrous burger. The egg was way overcooked… it didn’t ooze one bit lol. I took one small bite and all I could taste was the butter on the bun! Bleh…

On the way home, we stopped at CVS to buy some cold medicine and some more tissues. I also bought a Nerds Rope… and now I want another one just thinking about it… even though I could barely taste it with this stuffed faced lol.

Today, boyfriend worked the day shift. He came home around 1 PM– right as I was waking up… I was like “what the hell?” I thought it was extra late!! He usually gets home around 4 or 5 PM when he works the day shift but, I guess they had scheduled way too many servers today so he was sent home early.

We decided to try a Thai restaurant that we’ve never been to. I found a place called Thai Room nearby.

I thought the interior was so cute because… pink cushions, duh! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I also liked the table cloths.

We ordered the BBQ Chicken to share, it was delicious and SO huge. We had to pack some to bring home.

Boyfriend, of course, had to try his favorite dish, the Silver Noodles with all the meats.

He asked for the highest level of spicy and they delivered– we were very proud. I liked the big cabbage pieces but, boyfriend said they started to annoy him being in every single bite, lol. The flavors were all there and personally, I have no complaints!

I had the absolutely amazing Roasted Duck Curry. I loved the bamboo shoots and pineapple chunks. I also appreciated how many pieces of juicy, tender duck meat they gave me. It was sooo lovely and perfect for my cold and the cold weather.

I had a bowl of brown rice on the side, too, if you can see it!

On the way home, we stopped at the dispensary– AKA I took a nap in the car while boyfriend went in, hehe. When we got home, we made some hot coffee and I started playing this Big Hero 6 game on my Nintendo 3DS. I have never seen the movie (or show?) before but, the game is pretty fun. It was on sale at Gamestop awhile back so I just bought it– I like it so far. I mean, I just defeated an Adventure Time game and I’ve never watched that show either so it’s no biggie… I can still enjoy their games, can’t I? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m gonna write up a post for the book Blackbird now then, maybe paint my nails and watch TV. Last night, before bed I finished Season 03 of UnREAL and watched the first episode of Season 04– so excited! I took off all of my old nail polish… and I was wearing a dark red wine color by OPI that stained my fingers, toes, and all of my nails. I think I’ll stray away from that brand from now on.

  1. Mmm… chicken wings and Thai curry!

PS: I hope you don’t mind… but could I start doing these journal entries similar to yours as well? Haha, I just love how casual and more “diary-like” this makes!

    1. The curry was sooo delicious!! & I would love to see similar posts from you. ๐Ÿ™‚ I don’t think I’m the first and I’m definitely not the only that writes in this format anyways! โค

    1. Yes, hot tea & soup have been helping me loads. ๐Ÿ™‚ I need to see this Big Hero 6!! It seems like such a good film. So many fun characters! I don’t know how I’ve never heard of it before!

  2. We don’t have an Applebee’s here. We did when I was a kid and I used to love going there. I remember I went for my birthday a couple times in the 90’s. Those Wonton tacos look delish! How unique. I’ve never seen something like that before.

The Duck Curry at the Thairoom looks so good! I want to try it.

    1. Whoa! That’s interesting to know that they closed down all of your Applebee’s! I guess they must not have been doing so good in your area?

The wonton tacos are my fave!! I love them. โค & the duck curry was so so good, too!

  3. I loled at โ€œpoor fellerโ€. But I do hope he feels better!!!

YAS, girl! I lived on them half priced apps after 9 in college (ok slight exaggeration- but we know all about that applebeeโ€™s life. It was our prime date spot). I love authentic Thai spots- nothing better! Wow- Iโ€™m impressed they actually DID give him the highest spice level. Itโ€™s like a life goal of mine to actually convince them to give me the highest spice levelโ€ฆ one day one dayโ€ฆ

That duck curry does look like perfection!!! Have a wonderful week, Hunida ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. It’s almost impossible not to catch the bug when your partner has it! It sucks lol.

I’ve only been to Applebee’s a handful of times before! I really like their apps though. ๐Ÿ™‚ So cheap & tasty!

I was super impressed with the Thai spot we found! It is hard to get them to really pack on the spice sometimes, isn’t it? But then I’ll read Yelp reviews like “the spice was unbearable” when I could barely taste it so I get why restaurants are cautious.

Hope you have a wonderful week, too, babe!! โค

  4. Glad youโ€™re feeling better, by now you must be feeling way way way better haha
And I havenโ€™t been to Applebeeโ€™s in a long long time.. last time I had it I didnโ€™t like the food or rather the quality seemed to have changed. Idk, maybe i can give it a shot again.
And the Thai food looks sooo goood, roasted duck curry? Never heard of that. Sounds interesting.

    1. Honestly my nose is still a bit runny but I do feel a lot better. ๐Ÿ˜€ Thank you!!

I noticed with chain restaurants, the quality of food is just not that good so I just stopped expecting so much from them lol. I do like that the servers always know everything (like if there’s dairy) about the food at chains though.

Have you ever tried duck meat before??
