Journal Entry #165

Okay, brace yourselves for a pretty long and photo-filled post because I hate this whole writing about the past stuff. I wanna talk about my PRESENT day sooo… let’s get right to it, yeah??

When we got home from the cabin on Wednesday, it was still early. We chilled at home a bit until it was time for dinner. I mostly played my stupid Adventure Time game that I still can’t beat.

For dinner, we went to this new Vietnamese restaurant called Pho T.

We loved the interior. The tables with connected benches for chairs reminded us of some of our favorite spots in Minnesota.

You will never stop us from ordering fresh shrimp summer rolls for our appetizer if it’s an option.

These were kind of small and so were the shrimps inside but, still, they were yummy as ever.

I have to make fun of boyfriend a little because we both wanted the vermicelli noodle salad for our main courses but, they had it listed under “bun” so he skipped over the whole section and ordered the Pan-Fried Noodles instead. I felt bad for not letting him know first, I thought he would’ve known and I didn’t know what he was ordering until he told the waitress. My bad…

It was good though! He got it with beef and we both liked it– I did think they were a little stingy with the noodles… there were more bean sprouts than anything.

I got the Lemongrass Beef “Bun” (aka vermicelli noodle salad). I thought the beef was a little overcooked and the sauce was a bit too sweet but, it was still enjoyable.

They had boba slushies on their menu so we couldn’t resist trying some for dessert.

Boyfriend chose Honeydew flavor and I chose Almond & Lavender. They were alright but, I could taste the powder at first and the sweetness started giving me a headache after drinking only half of it.

When we got home that evening, I got further in my game until I got sleepy.

On Thursday, boyfriend and I both went back to work. While he was at work, I made myself a frozen Luvo meal for dinner. It was the Mango Chicken one.

I liked it but, I needed like double the portion. Luckily, when boyfriend got home he bought a huge sub sandwich from Albertson’s. I had a huge chunk of it before work and some more of it for dinner on Friday along with my fave Asian Chicken salad boyfriend also had picked up for me.

Work was really good both Thursday and Friday night. Thank you to all the SEMA attendees!!! πŸ˜‰

On Saturday, boyfriend had the day off and I saw there was a sale for $10 body butters at The Body Shop. Countless blog friends have recommended the brand to me on their sites and I’ve just run out of body lotion so it was the perfect timing! (I’ll show you what I got next month in my November Beauty Buys post).

There are only two The Body Shop stores in Las Vegas and the closest one was in the Fashion Show Mall. After I bought my stuff, we walked to California Pizza Kitchen for dinner and got to stop and watch a little of the Calvin Klein runway show!

I know, it’s crazy, but this was our first time at California Pizza Kitchen. I had no idea they had so much variety on their menu!

I was incredibly tempted by their delicious sounding sangrias– I’ve never heard of such creative concoctions before but… I’m still a little scared of alcohol right now after my throw up session lol.

We were given complimentary crusty bread with seasoned olive oil for dipping. πŸ˜€

For our appetizer, we chose the Chicken Lettuce Wraps. It was fun building them by ourselves instead of having trouble trying to keep together already made ones. The sauce that was given on the side was a little too salty but, the chicken tasted fine without it anyways.

I chose the Thai salad with chicken. It was absolutely fantastic. The dressing was definitely the best part– there was an unexpected spicy kick to it… mmm, mmm!

Boyfriend ordered The Works pizza… I was insanely jealous watching him eat it.

Look at all those gorgeous mushrooms!!!

On our way home we made our usual stop at Starbucks. I wrote my Journal Entry before getting ready for work. I got there around 11 PM and sadly, it was kinda lame– especially compared to the two nights before. I had no idea about the time going backwards one hour until one of my co-workers mentioned it. I was like “no wonder it felt like I had been here way longer than what the time said!” I left at 3 AM which really means I left at 4 AM?

Now, we’re finally talkin’ about TODAY!

Boyfriend had to work during the day. I woke up around noon and he got home around 4 PM. It’s Sunday so you already know we went out for sushi!! We decided to try somewhere we hadn’t been before called, Gorilla Sushi.

Their menu was huge and they’re closer to us than Chinatown is so I have no idea why we hadn’t been before. We were in AYCE Heaven. I put the food I captured into collages this time so it wouldn’t be scrolling overkill for you. πŸ˜‰

Gorilla Hot Dog, Yakisoba, Fiesta roll, Korean Kalbi, Salmon Sashimi, Mackerel, Red Snapper, Cajun Albacore, Halibut, and Octopus Nigiris, Affogato
Seaweed Salad, Miso Soup, Seafood Nachos, Seafood Salad, Gyoza, Calamari Tempura

If you think that’s a lot… just know… there was actually even more that I didn’t capture LOL. They gave us a stamp card, too, so we’ll definitely be going back to fill it up.

The inside of the restaurant was really cheerful and bright. I loved it because it instantly brightened my mood. The cube lights are neat as heck, too! I forgot to take a picture of the exterior though… Dang it!!

On the way home, we stopped at Albertson’s to buy some coffee grounds. We ended up buying two bags because we couldn’t choose between them. We also picked up some snacks and organic Italian soda.

Since we got home… I’ve responded to some lovely comments on here, drank hella coffee, started writing this… we’ve already smoked two blunts, and I’m just finishing now. I’m gonna cut myself off here.

Have a wonderful week, loves. ❀

  1. Hi Hunida. That Pho T restaurant looks good. Is it in Chinatown ? The California Pizza Kitchen at Fashion Show Mall is one of my favorite places when I come to Vegas, but I have yet to see a runway show at the mall. I always seem to miss them . I’m not a fan of the Body Shop. I go to Lush at The Forum Shoppes or Bath and Body Works at Fashion Show Mall .

    1. No, the Pho T. restaurant is on Boulder Hwy. California Pizza Kitchen was better than I expected it to be! I’m surprised you’ve never seen a runway show– maybe next time! ;D

Oh no! Is there a reason you don’t like The Body Shop?! I’ve never tried anything from Lush before either but I’ve heard lots of good things about that brand, too! I actually think they have a store in The Fashion Show Mall now!

      1. I always seem to break out with products from there. Yes I have to get to see a runway show , maybe in February or June, God willing . Lush is my go to place . If I see a Lush store, I gotta buy at least one bath bomb or soap from them. Bath and Body Works at the Fashion Show Mall is good too. Love their lotions. Isn’t California Pizza Kitchen good? Love it. Have you been to Pizza Rock in Downtown Las Vegas ? Everyone raves about it. The New York City pizza snob in me has to check it out.

        1. Oh no!! Luckily I didn’t buy anything for my face. I did use the body butter today though & I gotta say– it is GREASY. I would never pay the full price for it. Definitely gonna check out Lush next time!

I haven’t been to Pizza Rock but I do like Grimaldi’s & I DID go to Pin Up Pizza!! Have you heard of it?! It was amazing!!

  2. I used to work at a California Pizza Kitchen–I saw the picture of the bread and Mediterranean oil and I knew, lol, because I’d always be in the kitchen snacking on it! They really have expanded their menu and it’s a great place for people with food allergies or sensitivities to dine at because they take special precautions in their preparation. They really have expanded their menu while I was there (I worked there for five years). If you ever end up going back and need recommendations, I can give you TONS of them! After five years, I had to get creative with my employee meals, so I have tons of dishes that I’ve modified into even better ones.

    1. That Mediterranean oil was so dang yummy, haha. I totally get why you were always snackin’ on it. πŸ˜‰ I had no idea their menu would have much else besides pizza & pasta but, I was pleasantly surprised. I was actually annoyed by the waiter because he had to run back to the chef twice– he had no idea about which ones had no dairy? Would love some recommendations from you if you have any!!

      1. Yes! Kung Pao Spaghetti is my favorite menu item! No dairy, and if you get it without peanuts, it’s peanut and tree nut free as well. I like adding mushrooms to it, and shrimp is the protein to go with because they bread and sautΓ© it. So good!

If you ever go for lunch, the lunch dips are awesome! I like the Mushroom and Spinach Pizza (you can get it cheeseless) and then you get a choice of soup or salad (my favorite soup with that one is the Tomato Basil Bisque, but that does have dairy).

Next time, tell your boyfriend to try the cauliflower crust! It’s so good, but it is made with mozzarella cheese as a binder for the cauliflower.

        1. Ooo, I was wondering if that Kung Pao Spaghetti would be good! So so so getting it with mushrooms next time I go. πŸ˜€

He was making fun of the cauliflower crust but I will tell him that you said it’s actually good!! Thank you for your recs, Liz!! ❀

  3. You’re right about them being stingy with the noodles, I see none of them it’s all bean sprouts lol. I like them but honestly that looks like too many lol.
Those boba slushees look really good and I like the fact that yours had lavender in it, too bad it made your head hurt.
I still haven’t tried the body shop body butters but I really want to. Once I run out of my body lotions I’ll be sure to grab one of them.
And how awesome that there was a fashion show there?! So neat!
CPK is so so good, we’ve only been there twice and we loved their dishes. Their pizzas are amazing too!!!!
And all of that food from gorilla sushi looks mouth watering!

    1. RIGHT?! So many freakin’ beansprouts!! Lol, they’re good but, dang. Not that many!

Yeah I was sooo sad it was making my head hurt because it was really good!! I am starting to like the flower flavors a lot now!

To be honest, I don’t think I will ever repurchase a body butter from TBS for the full-price. πŸ˜› The fashion shows are always fun! & I was impressed with both CPK & Gorilla Sushi. πŸ˜€

      1. Yeah tf πŸ˜‚
Ever since I tried the lavender lemonade I’m all willing to try new stuff I’ve also tried a lychee boba drink and it was sooo delicious, I remember you once told me they were good and up until you mentioned it I didn’t even know what it was haha
Yeah not the full price, they seem pricey! πŸ˜–

        1. Ahhh!! I’m so excited that you tried lychee & liked it. πŸ˜€ Not a lot of people are so fond of the flavor! & yeah, I don’t even think the body butters were worth the half off that I paid… bleh.

  4. Shrimp summer rolls with the peanut sauce is always my go-to too ! I love how refreshing yet savory they are!
Oooo we love CPK too! I literally need to get a snack after reading this because that sushi is making my stomach actually grumble! And it was AYCE?! Yes pleeease! Hope your week is going so well, Hunida! Xo

    1. Yess! Nothing beats a fresh summer roll. πŸ˜€ Do you prefer the peanut sauce over the sweet fish sauce some places serve?

I was really impressed with CPK! I truly thought there’d be nothing on their menu besides pizza & pasta, lol. The sushi place was nice!! We’ll go back again, for sure!

Hope you’re having a wonderful week as well, babe!! ❀
