I’m gonna skip my Recipe Reviews today because I’d rather write this Journal Entry and finish telling you about our anniversary trip. πŸ™‚

In the car, while we waited for 2 PM to hit, we were taking turns playing Super Smash Bros. Before we knew it, it was time to get the keys for our cabin!!!

The keys came in this cute little drawstring bag with 3 remotes; one to control the TV, one for the DVD player, and one for the humidifier or something.

In their office, they had a bunch of goodies for sale. I looked through them while boyfriend signed the receipt and did the check-in stuff.

I ended up buying two mini candles, hehe– they both smelled delicious.

There was a huge shelf full of DVDs and a few board games but, we didn’t thoroughly look through them until after we went to see what our room was like.

Luckily, we brought a bag of our own snacks so we didn’t end up having to buy any from the office (because y’know, otherwise, I would have!!).

The bag of Takis swelled up because of the high elevation!! So funny, huh?

We only had to walk down a few set of stairs to get to our cabin and the views down were just breathtaking!!

When I finally walked into our cabin, I was absolutely stunned. The room was exactly what I had hoped for and MORE.

I was especially ecstatic about the fireplace in the middle!!! I turned it on right away. πŸ˜€

Of course, the MAIN attraction was the jacuzzi located right next to the big, comfy bed.

I was surprised that this was also the shower (there was a shower head a bit above the handle) so the “bathroom” just had a small toilet room and another bigger room with a sink, mirror, and coffee machine.

In the living room area, there was a mini fridge, a microwave, a love seat and big comfy chair, and a small wall-TV that you could angle in all different directions.

I was sad to see so much vandalism on the walls. The sign on the door out to the balcony said that there would be a $100 fee if we decided to also be rude and carve our signatures into the wood.

And since we’re already speaking of the balcony… let me show you…

It was WOW!! So very spacious with two little tables and some chairs to sit on. I think it was boyfriend’s all-time favorite spot.

Standing out there and just taking in the scenery, breathing in fresh air, and looking out for the many stray kitties was a memory I’ll never forget.

When we walked back in from the balcony and I was finally done ooh-ing and ahh-ing at the place, I hopped in for a nice, long shower. There was UNLIMITED hot water!! How nice is that?! I almost never got out but, when I diiiid… boyfriend and I hung out on the bed and a played a little more on the Nintendo. We both put our phones away for the night but, noticed we actually had full service! We really thought there’d be none all the way up there.

After some canoodling and kicking ass on our game, we were both hungry and decided it was time to go to the lodge’s restaurant for dinner.

There was outdoor patio seating but, I was way too cold for that! Inside, was just perfect and so cozy.

In the middle of the restaurant was a big fireplace. When we walked in, it hadn’t been lit yet so we got to watch them start the fire and throw the wood in.

There was a lot on their menu and as always, I had the hardest time deciding what I wanted to order.

We agreed on a big bowl of chili with red onions, red kidney beans and jalapenos thrown on top and a jalapeno cornbread muffin on the side for our appetizer.

When we first got the chili, we were annoyed as ever because it was COLD. We asked her to “please heat it up,” which she did immediately but, when we got it back, we were more annoyed because our onions and jalapenos were then warm and soggy– we didn’t let it ruin our night though. It was still edible and the muffin was fantastic!!

For our main courses, we both chose BURGERS. ❀

I ordered the BBQ Western Burger with no cheese and I added pineapple slices– it was so yummy… then, I put some of our remaining chili on top of my fries… and I don’t think I’ve ever made a better decision in my whole life.

Boyfriend had the Stuffed Turkey Burger. It had cheese on top and cheese stuffed inside of the patty, too. I had a small bite and thought it was alright– definitely not better than mine though!!

For our dessert, I threw my “dairy-free diet” out the window, and we ordered the huuuuge brownie sundae.

I was disappointed to see the whole freakin’ thing was covered in whipped cream!! I don’t really like the stuff, personally… it’s crazy to think anyone would enjoy their ENTIRE dessert drowning in that much whipped cream though.

I shoved it all off and found like half a gallon of vanilla ice cream atop a nice, chewy, fudgy but sort of too thin, brownie!!!

We tried our best to finish it but in the end… it beat us. There was probably a little more than half leftover!

We washed it down with some hot, black coffee before heading back.

When we got back into the room, we played on the Nintendo until our tummies were done resting. Boyfriend made us a bubble bath in the jacuzzi and lit our candles to set the mood. πŸ˜‰

We tried to put a movie on the TV and watch it from the tub but, we couldn’t hear a thing. We entertained ourselves in there instead… and then, we washed off the bubbles together under the shower head.

I forgot to mention, but we found two movies to rent from the office. Boyfriend had never seen Thirteen Ghosts so we got that one and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. We watched like half of Thirteen Ghosts before we couldn’t focus anymore. We decided to just play games on the Nintendo for the rest of the night with movies on in the background.

We went to sleep around 3 AM and check-out time was at 11 AM.

I woke up early enough to take another glorious shower. We also got to spend some time soaking in the sun and gorgeous views from the balcony before it was time to pack up and go.

We were even early enough to get breakfast at their restaurant before hitting the road, too. Unfortunately, I wasn’t that hungry and that brownie sundae was gettin’ to me, so we just shared one plate and added some sausage links on the side.

I played an Adventure Time game on the Nintendo during the whole ride home. It seemed like such a quick drive! I was devastated that our romantic cabin getaway was already done and over.

I wish I had more time to write so I could get you updated all the way to TODAY but, I’ve gotta go get ready for work now. Tomorrow, I’ll write another Journal Entry— I have the day off so I’ll actually be able to get everything down on “paper”.

Hope you’re all having an awesome weekend! ❀

  1. Sounds like such an enjoyable trip away! It’s so cool you can rent DVD and board games so you don’t have to take your own! That fire place in the middle of the room looks so nice, it would be so cosy and fun to watch in winter πŸ™‚

    1. I loved the little welcome kit coming in the pouch! The Main Stays candles are really cute, they’re a Wal-Mart brand. πŸ˜‰ & the cabin was sooo gorgeous! Hope you had a little midnight snack!! ❀ Thank you for stopping by!

    1. It was so much fun, Becky!! πŸ˜€ The cabin was so beautiful, I had never been anywhere like it before. It was definitely a nice little getaway. I hope you get some time off to yourself soon. ❀

  3. Oh my gosh, this place looks so cozy and awesome! I’ve only stayed at a cabin once when I was 14 with my parents, but it sucked. lol We drove two and a half hours to get there, and it wasn’t what we expected. The cabin was dirty and not cozy at all. The inside didn’t even have that nice cabin aesthetic. It was like we were staying in a small apartment or something. Plus, there wasn’t anything to do but make a fire and sit by it.

Why have I never thought to add jalapenos to my chili?! That looks amazing. How awful that it was cold though. I like my food good and hot and can’t stand when it starts getting cold. The burger looks so delicious! I’ve never had pineapple on my burger before, but that sounds so good.

    1. Britney, you would have just loved it here! ❀ It was super cozy & beautiful. That cabin you went to when you were 14 would have been so disappointing! What's the point of calling it a cabin if there's no cabin aesthetic?? I hope you get to experience something more like Mt. Charleston someday. ❀

Jalapenos on the chili was such a great idea! & me too!! I was so upset that it was cold. The breakfast in the morning wasn't as hot as I would've liked either. πŸ˜› You should try pineapple on a burger!! I think you would like it!! ❀

  4. That place looks amazing! And yes hot showers πŸ™Œ I always hate when I’m the last one to shower because I have about .78 seconds before it’s cold.

    Happy Anniversary!

    1. Thank you so much, my love!! ❀ The cabin was out of this world, it was so amazing spending our anniversary there. & YES! The fresh air!! Ugh it's so smokey everywhere here in Vegas– it felt good to be somewhere clean for once!! & the jacuzzi was definitely one of my favorite parts!!

      ❀ ❀

  7. The cabin looks incredible and cozy on the inside. I’d be all over that fireplace and jacuzzi no joke haha
I love the scenery right outside the balcony too. It must have been pretty peaceful and quiet compared to the city I assume?
And pineapple on a burger, whaaaaa?! Really?! It looks and sounds good I mean I already love it on my pizza hahah
So glad you had an amazing time there I hope to be able to go to a cabin someday. During the winter might be nice too lol.

    1. Yesss girl, the jacuzzi & fireplace were my fave part. ❀ Every time the fire went out, I got up right away to turn it back on lol. It was definitely peaceful & quiet compared to the city & we were able to see so many stars at night!!

If you like pineapple on your pizza, I really think you'd like it on your burger, too. πŸ˜€ I do think it would be super pretty & more romantic in the winter but, man, it was already so cold!!

      1. Oh man you make it sound like such a wonderful experience. I haven’t turned on central heating in the House so my ass is freezing and a fireplace sounds so nice right about now. I think I would prefer a fireplace than central heating, electricity is expensive anyway lmao
Aahhh star gazing is my favorite past time! We’ve had clear skies this past week or so and I’ve been loving looking up to see the constellations!
I’ll have to give it a try haha. I need to find a pineapple first lol

        1. Turn on the heat before you get sick!! But I know what you mean, we don’t have to pay for heat but we have to pay for A/C & HOLY CRAP, our bill skyrocketed during the summer. I’m so glad the cold is back & we can turn it off lol. πŸ˜› I really wish we had a fireplace too though. Soooo cozy.

We can’t see stars at all where we live… sad. That’s beautiful that you’re able to see constellations! ❀ Do they sell pineapples at your grocery store?!? πŸ˜›

          1. We went out to buy a heater I hope it’s not too expensive 😭 otherwise I’m returning it lol.
And they only sold them during the summer I haven’t seen them since? So idk where to find them lol.

            1. I think the heater will be less expensive than central heating! Fingers crossed for you!! & that’s weird that they only sell pineapples in the summer! They’re always sold here & in Minnesota, too, if I remember correctly. The only fruits that disappear after the summer are watermelons & honey mangoes!

              1. We got a heater last night from home depot and Alex left it on before he went to work this morning. We woke up to a slightly cozier living room. The room is still pretty big but I love it, I’m no longer freezing my ass off with thick sweaters every morning LOL. And yogs warmed me up too! πŸ™‚

  8. Woohoo! So excited about this post. That little drawstring bag is too cute- how creative! That’s so crazy with the Taki’s!!! That bag looks like it is about to burst on open!

Wow oh wow this cabin is stunning. Even this restaurant you went to looks sooo cozy. This is majorly making me want to plan a trip to the mountains soon.

And allll the jalapeno please!!! That is all making my mouth water. But I agree- one of my biggest pet peeves is when soup is cold at a restaurant. Or any part of the meal for that matter!

I love that you lit candles like that! That’s actually so smart to take some along on getaways. I will remember this for next time we take a trip!

What a PERFECT time. I’m so glad you shared with us!!! Happy anniversary again πŸ™‚

    1. I know!! I was talking about how cute that bag was & boyfriend was like “there are only remotes in here” like I cared what was inside!!! Lol. I’m glad you can appreciate it with me. ❀ & RIGHT?! I am surprised the bag didn't burst open… can that happen??

It was our first trip to the mountains & it was so lovely!! I'd love to do it again sometime. πŸ™‚ & YESS, seriously… WHY are we served cold food at a restaurant where we are paying for hot food?? Hugest pet peeve ever, right?!

The candles were so cute!! I wouldn't have thought of it if the office hadn't sold them. πŸ˜€ Next time, we can remember to bring our own!! ❀

Thank you, Mackenzie!! Thanks so much for reading & for your lovely comments. ❀

  9. Oh my gosh Hunida, this cabin looks like a DREAM!! It looks absolutely magical. The views, the fireplace in your own cabin, and that TUB! ❀ Also, the views from the restaurant itself look amazing. I love that they had their own restaurant too so you didn't have to pack a bunch of food or drive to town for dinner. What a marvelous stay!

    1. “Magical” is the absolute perfect word to describe this cabin stay. ❀ It truly was. The tub was my favorite and the fireplace came in a close second! It made me wanna buy one of those faux ones for my living room lol. I'm so glad they had a restaurant there, too! There was nowhere else to go unless we drove all the way down the mountain! Thank you for your lovely comments, Courtney! ❀

      1. I’ve thought about getting one of those faux ones too! A fireplace is definitely a priority for whatever home we end up purchasing in the future. But not a wood one because we are bad with keeping a fire going. If we had to rely on our skills to keep us warm, we’d probably freeze to death. (Secretly wishing one of us had been in boy/girl scouts lol.)
