Yesterday, boyfriend worked during the day and got home around 4 PM. We decided to go out to eat at a chain restaurant we’ve had our eye on but, had never been to.
It was called Mimi’s Cafe but, the exterior looked more like Mimi’s House, am I right?
Inside it felt and looked the same way. It was seriously so cozy, comfy, and cute. Mostly all of their food is homemade, too, so we truly felt like we were visiting someone’s home.
Their menu was huuuuge– even boyfriend had a hard time deciding what he wanted for his main entree and he usually can decide before I’m even done reading the whole thing. Our appetizer was one thing that was easy to choose though, the meat trio caught both of our attention instantly.
The beef had a red wine sauce, the shrimp had a teriyaki sauce, and the chicken had a peanut sauce. My favorite was the shrimp but, boyfriend liked the chicken best. The beef was good, too, but placed 3rd for both of us; it tasted like meatloaf on a stick.
They also gave us some complimentary bread while we waited for our food. One french roll and two mini raisin carrot cakes per basket. Now, let me tell you, I could eat my weight in those carrot cakes– they were so dang delish. We got ourselves two refills. 😀
Boyfriend ordered a bowl of their jambalaya. The flavor was alright and most importantly, the shrimps were nice, juicy, and plump.
I had the Hibachi Salmon Plate which looked freakin’ amazing in the picture they had on the menu, there was supposed to be zucchini and yellow squash slices all around the salmon filet but all I got was a few measly broccolis, cherry tomatoes, and like 2 slivers of a red bell pepper. I was also annoyed there wasn’t any brown rice available but, ah well… it all tasted pretty good at least and the salmon was big and meaty.
When our server gave us our tab, he also plopped down these beautiful muffins for us. I guess they were free since it was our first time at Mimi’s!!! How generous of them, right?! ❤
After we finished eating, we went to Starbucks for our espressos and then, stopped at the dispensary to pick up more weed. When we got home, I did my makeup and painted my toenails before heading off to work. I got there around 11 PM and left around 3:30 AM.
Today, we woke up a little after noon. We laid in bed for a little and then, started getting ready to go out for dinner. I found this interesting spot called ProteinHouse that was a bit of a drive away (20 minutes).
The inside was big, bright, and white! I loved it!
If you hadn’t already guessed, this restaurant is catered towards those workout junkies. Everything on their menu is filled with tons of… dun dun dun… PROTEIN. Even their desserts!!
Which, of course, was the first thing I spotted and grabbed right away. There was one packaged Vegan Chocolate Banana muffin left shouting my name!! I didn’t eat it until I got home though and I’m actually still occasionally nibbling on what I have left of it now. It has actual mushed up banana pieces in it and is really tasty EXCEPT for this weird little grittiness I get in some bites. Must be that protein powder?!
We usually only drink water during dinner but, their water tasted kind of funky so we got a cold cup of their “fresh, healthy juice” that included free refills. We chose the watermelon lemonade and it smelled like a breezy, summer picnic… and ohhh man… it tasted even better.
I ordered their fantastic Thai Monster Bowl. It had: Grilled Hormone-Free, Cage-Free Chicken, Certified Angus Beef Steak, Broccoli, Asparagus, Green Onions and House Made Spicy Thai Peanut Sauce, Topped with Chopped Peanuts. (Yes, I did just copy that from their website LOL). I added brown rice on the side and asked for my steak medium which it perfectly was. 🙂
Boyfriend got the Muscle Builder Burger with (like two pieces of) sweet potato fries. Let me copy and paste what was all included on his burger, too: 2 Organic Grass-Fed Bison Patties, Turkey Bacon, Low-Fat Cheddar and Caramelized Onions. Boyfriend removed the cheese on a small corner so I could have a bite of it… I didn’t like it very much. There was NO flavor in the meat– super under-seasoned!
And then, as usual, we made a stop at Starbucks for our espressos before we came home.
Now, it’s getting late!! I better start doing my makeup and hair for work. I’m also hoping to re-do my toenails and get my fingernails painted buuuuut, I doubt I’ll have enough time.
