Hey guys! In my last Journal Entry (written on Saturday night), I told you about the SNL themed party that my boyfriend’s co-worker was having tonight– I said I was considering going but, actually, he was the one one who decided against it… (huuuge relief)!!
I also said something about going to work that night but, I decided against it because I was already hungry when it came time to go. I decided to go out to eat with boyfriend, instead. It was already pretty late when boyfriend’s shift ended so we only had a few options for food.
If you’ve been around here for awhile, you’ll probably recognize this restaurant. We’ve been to Thai Pepper quite a few times in the past. It’s easy for us to drive to and it’s open 24/7. Only one other couple was dining-in with us. Everyone else was ordering takeout!
For our first appetizer, we got the Beef Salad. It was a bit sweeter than usual and not in a nice way. We also didn’t like that the beef was warm… but, we were still able to clear the whole plate. 😉
Our second appetizer were the deep-fried Chicken “Wings” with some kind of sticky sweet and sour fish sauce. I say “wings” with quotes around it because we were given ALL drummies! Boooo!
I ordered the Duck Curry with brown rice. It def could have used more duck pieces and the ones that were included could have used less fat. I love pineapple chunks in a curry though and the broth was so creamy and flavorful; I was able to forgive them for skimping out on the duck… I suppose.
If you hadn’t already guessed it, boyfriend ordered his favorite dish: Pad Woon Sen with shrimp, beef, and chicken. Yum yum yummy!!
We passed a Sonic Drive-In on the way home so we stopped and went through their dreadfully slow drive-thru for some sweet treats. I was feeling particularly naughty and ordered a mini-sized Butterfinger Blast!!
Ice cream is just worth all the stomachaches sometimes… mmmm..
I also ordered a Limeade Slush (hated it) and boyfriend got a Strawberry Slush with Nerds candies (loved it).
When we got home, I binge-watched UnREAL until it was time for bed.
Yesterday, we both woke up around noon. We were still feelin’ like going to the haunted houses so we started getting ready to go around 3 PM. We had to go out to eat, come back home to smoke a blunt, and we wanted to get there right when it opened at 6:30.
We ended up going to the Hibachi Supreme Buffet & Grill for dinner. We chose our noodles, veggies, and meats for the grill first thing this time. Last time we visited, we ended up getting too full before we were able to try it. It was alright… sort of flavorless and dry.
People who eat at buffets are so pushy and rude, it’s ridic but, hey… we love AYCE anything so we enjoyed ourselves as usual. Even if the food wasn’t that good either.
We went across the way to a Starbucks and we both ordered the Maple Pecan Frapp again. I love those little crunchies they put at the top!! ❤
When we got home, we smoked a blunt and it ended up being a bit past 6:30 PM when we left. I guess it was meant to be though because as we were walking in, a guy approached us, like “hey! hey! Are you guys going into the haunted houses?!” a little wary, we nodded our heads ‘yes’ and he handed us two complimentary tickets!! There are two houses so we only had to buy tickets for the other house instead of both like we had planned to!!
There are so many haunted houses to choose from here in Las Vegas– last year, we went to Circus Circus’ Fright Dome and had a serious ball. This year, we chose the Asylum & Hotel Fear which has been running for 20 years!! A horror flick was even filmed inside of The Hotel once.
When we arrived, the line for The Asylum was waaaay longer than the one for The Hotel so, we chose The Hotel first. I wanted to be scared right away! And I was…
The “monster” in this photo (above) ^ scared me SO good when we were just waiting in line. He shouted in my ear so closely and loudly out of nowhere!!
Before we went into the house, we were given some rules. One rule was to keep my hands on boyfriend’s shoulders at all times; I ended up holding onto his sides the whole time, though– to be closer, y’know?!
The beginning of The Hotel is thought out so well, you walk in and ring a silver desk bell JUST ONCE then, all of the lights go off… I almost pee’d myself then and there because I HATE the dark!!!
We both jumped when the “bellboy(woman)” showed up… welcoming us to our “stay” in The Hotel. Walking through was awesome– I felt boyfriend jump a few times here and there and I admit… I let out a scream once or twice, too!!!
The line to get into The Asylum was still extremely long when we ran out of The Hotel. We had to wait behind the most annoying freaking little girl in the world and I’m not even just being an asshole. Her parents yelled at her over and over to calm down but… she just wouldn’t! I was so glad that when we got to the front of the line, we were grouped with the 3 dudes behind us instead of that family.
I feel like The Asylum was less scary and I never really jumped… I did hate the whole squishy part we had to go through but, that’s the only part that even kind of scared me… there was also a super trippy flashing lights room with screaming women behind fences. It reminded me of the film Thirteen Ghosts. I definitely tried to get through that as fast as possible then ended up wishing it had been a bigger room.
**Okay um, I just spilled my coffee all over myself… but at least it wasn’t super hot. I’m back now though… no worries lol.**
On the way into The Asylum, there’s a green screen that you get to have your picture taken in front of. I was obviously lookin’ a hot mess (if you couldn’t tell from the above photos and the one below) but, I still wanted to get my photo taken lol. There were two different ones but, the second one was more than ugly so we just chose this one:
If you’re wondering if it’s cold in Vegas or something… IT IS!!! The extra layers were so needed.
After buying our little photo, we headed home. I put together my Recipe Reviews post and published it then, I vegged out on the couch finishing up the first season of UnREAL.
I got a bit hungry while watching TV so I made the “Nom Som” my dad sent me in the mail. It’s a Khmer thing… I don’t know what it would be called in english.
It’s pretty much a sticky rice burrito with marinated pork and cooked soybeans in it. Boyfriend went to Rivas Mexican Grill for a chicken burrito while I was heating it up, I asked him to get me some french fries and chicken tenders, too…
I wasn’t planning on eating so much of the Nom Som since it’s very hard to digest sticky rice but, I did because it was so dang yummy!
I admit I probably shouldn’t have ordered anything from Rivas at all but, when I’m hungry, my brain is bigger than my stomach. I was able to fit in half the french fries and two tenders before giving up.
I ended up getting through the first episode of UnREAL Season 2 (fuck Jeremy!!!), we headed into bed after that. I read a tiny bit of Fractured by Catherine McKenzie before falling asleep.
Today, we woke up at around noon again. I had a horrible stomachache since I ate the second half of my Butterfinger Blast last night… 😛 We had to wait a bit for the pain to dull before we went grocery shopping and I still had to find our recipes for the week, too.
For some reason, Smith’s was out of everything when we got there. They didn’t even have any carts available… we had to find one abandoned in the parking lot. I noticed they had zero cartons of eggs… and just a LOT of missing shit?? Wonder what was going on there.
At least we were able to get everything we needed (and much more, too *eyeroll at myself*).
When we got home, I edited some unfinished drafts, drank coffee, made and ate a salad, while boyfriend cooked dinner. We watched The Good Place while we ate but, I think I’m going to quit that show for right now and pick it back up when the entire Season 3 is done. I hate watching episode by episode.
I started typing this and am drinking more coffee now. 🙂 Hope you all have a wonderful week! We bought these limited edition Rocky Road Oreos and I’m more than likely about to go eat one… or two (if they’re good!).
