Journal Entry #153

Ah hello friends, I switched up my schedule a bit since I was too lazy to write a journal entry after the musical last night– everything around here’s all messed up now, lol.

Last time I wrote was on Sunday so I’ll just rewind back to Monday.

Boyfriend had to work the evening shift. I didn’t do much besides read. Read blogs and read Josh and Hazel. When he got home around 8 PM, I was still in bed… reading. 😛

I got up right away for a shower and then we smoked a blunt before we headed off to dinner. We decided to try a Thai spot we’ve never been to before called Table Thai, it was only 13 minutes away and the ratings were high on Yelp so we thought we’d give it a shot.

wp-1539229968335..jpg

The first page of their menu was a complete vegan menu. I was impressed at all of the options they had; they even had all different types of faux meats (beef, chicken, or pork). It looked nearly the same as the regular menu– I was wowed even though I’m not vegan and ordered nothing off of it.

wp-1539229968345..jpg

Their interior was pretty, cozy, and intimate. Perfect for a little late dinner night like we had. I especially loved that I had a long bench with a back to sit on instead of a traditional chair.

wp-1539229968365..jpgwp-1539229968324..jpg

As usual, it took awhile for me to decide what to order and we also had trouble choosing our appetizers since everything just sounded sooo good!! Eventually we decided on the Crying Tiger and Fresh Summer Rolls w/ Shrimp to share:

wp-1539229968206..jpgwp-1539229968093..jpg

The Crying Tiger had the most wonderfully cooked and seasoned pieces of beef. The dipping sauce was so tasty and they also gave us this little thing of spiciness (a thai pepper mix– not pictured) to pile on top of our food; we put heaps on top of each piece of beef… IT WAS SOOOO YUM. I wish I could have brought that pepper mix home with me!!

I was kind of mad about the big leaf in the rolls because it made it really hard to eat. I couldn’t get my mouth around the whole thing and it wasn’t just because I have a small mouth either!! I also prefer a hoisin sauce dip over a sweet fish sauce dip.

wp-1539229968140..jpg

For my entree, I had the toughest time deciding on if I wanted a noodle soup or a noodle stir-fry. It’s finally getting a bit nipply outside when the sun goes down now so I went with a soup!!

wp-1539229968192..jpg

The Tom Kha w/ Shrimp & Steamed Flat Noodles ^. It’s always more fun when there’s a fire at the table, right?! When the waitress asked if I wanted it lit, I was like “duh!!” LOL.

wp-1539229968065..jpg

Boyfriend surprisingly went for my usual stir-fry pick the Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mao) instead of his usual pick Silver/Glass Noodles (Pad Woon Sen).

wp-1539229968302..jpg

He got both beef and chicken in his ^. It wasn’t as spicy as we had hoped but, that’s okay because we had that beautiful pepper mix she gifted us (you can see it in the photo below) and the whole spice wheel to fix that. I thought they spiced my Tom Kha really well though. 🙂

wp-1539229968312..jpg

We ordered dessert but had it packed to-go because I was way too full to eat it there. Boyfriend just got the Thai Tea:

wp-1539229968219..jpg

And I had the Mango Sticky Rice. I ate it not too long after we got home.

wp-1539229968355..jpg

I don’t know what that little orange sauce was ^ but, it wasn’t the usual hot coconut milk that I so enjoy over my mangoes and sticky rice. It tasted just like a mango puree; way too sweet… I didn’t end up using it with anything. I was not likin’ those dang maraschino cherries all over my rice either… the juices ruined the rice’s flavor and reminded me of drinking a cocktail.

At least the mangoes were delish, fresh, and plump and not every single grain of the rice balls were contaminated so I was able to eat a good amount of it still.

I can’t remember what I did for the rest of the night. I’m sure it was a mix of eating snacks, writing, reading, and watching TV.

Yesterday was a little hectic! We got up and running a little later than we should have. I thought I had some good recipes but, I had chosen them with a sleepy brain the night before and decided against all of them just as I was gearing up to write the grocery list. I took some time finding 3 new ones.

We didn’t leave for the grocery store until a little past 4 PM and we got home just after 5 PM. The musical started at 07:30 PM but, I like to leave the apartment at around 6 PM and stop at Starbucks for some caffeine before I go so when we got home, boyfriend was in a rush to get dinner ready and I was in a rush to get in the shower and eat all the food.

Somehow, thanks to my superman of a boyfriend, we were able to eat, smoke a blunt, and go to Starbucks all before 07:00 PM! We even had time to sit in the parking lot a little before I went in.

wp-1539229968376..jpg

At Starbucks, boyfriend and I both ordered their seasonal Maple Pecan Frappucino with 3 extra shots of espresso. I got almond milk and he got cow’s milk and extra ice; we both really loved it!!! I think I remember getting this a few times last year, too. Mmm, mmm. Why can’t it be around always?!

I got myself two This Bar Saves Lives – Dark Chocolate & Peanut Butter bars to munch on during the show, too. I only ate one and one bite though. They are quite filling!!

Please hold…. I am going to go make some cookies and coffee right now– I told boyfriend I’d put those stinkin’ cookies in the oven after I finished typing this which was a mistake because now he’s all antsy and I can’t focus on typing lol. I wanna tell you all about the musical still so BRB.

*** Insert Jeopardy Music Here ***

Okay okay, I’m back. I set the cookies on the cookie sheet (we’re making Sweet Loren’s Fudgy Brownie) and I guess boyfriend was getting antsy for more than those baked cookies because before I could pop them in the oven, he brought me for a quick detour to take a dip into my cookie!!! Hehe… I just had to say it. 😉

Anyways, I just popped those cute little chocolate rounds into the oven now. They should be done in about 10 minutes. I’ll have a picture of them at the end of the post!! 😉

NOW BACK TO THE MUSICAL!!

wp-1539229968107..jpg

If you didn’t already know, I have a Broadway Subscription at The Smith Center here in Las Vegas and am seeing all 10 shows this 2018/19 Season! The show I saw yesterday, Waitress, is the 3rd show of the season and only the 5th Broadway show I’ve ever seen.

wp-1539229968175..jpg

I was more than excited to see this one because I remember seeing it advertised all over New York when I went earlier this year buuuut, over there it had Sara Bareilles’ face behind it! She wrote the songs and/or the script or something? I’m sorry, I didn’t do my research at all… I just know her name is written all over it. For some reason, I thought her hit Love Song was going to be incorporated into the musical but, I was mistaken lol.

wp-1539229968045..jpg

I love having the same seat for every show I attend… it feels like it belongs to me… do you remember how kids used to say “your name wasn’t on it!” when someone stole your spot?? It feels like my name IS on this seat (in invisible ink)… and no one can steal it.

wp-1539229968079..jpg

In the show, every single cast member blew me away; incredible amounts of talent filled that stage. My favorite character was Ogie who was played by Jeremy Morse and Dr. Pomatter who was played by Bryan Fenkart. I know I’m supposed to hate Earl (played by Matt DeAngelis) but, his duet with Jenna, “You Will Still Be Mine”, won my heart– it was hands down the best musical number out of them all. Coming in hot at second place would be Jenna’s solo, “She Used To Be Mine”— she tore at all my heart strings and brought tears to my eyes every time she held that note.

But to be honest, a few of the songs were completely dull to me… (the ones that were like talking-singing/not rhyming).

The plot was not what I was expecting at all. I thought it would have A LOT more to do with being a waitress but, it was more like a straight-to-Netflix rom-com with singing.

There are SO many things I would change about the ending but, the one they gave us was nice, too… I guess. If you’ve seen this performance, please discuss your thoughts with me! I can’t be the only one who had hoped some things differently for Jenna!?

In the end, I don’t think it would be possible for me to not enjoy a musical/play. I had so much fun and can NOT wait for the next one. It’s time for The Lion King!!!! Boyfriend really wanted to go but, all of the tickets are already sold out on the date I’m going (beginning of next month). He’s not as into these shows as much as I am so we usually just check on the day of or the day before to see if one of the seats next to me is available– it never has been (yet) but, I’m annoyed that the guy right next to me at the Waitress didn’t return after intermission!! Boyfriend so could’ve had that ticket since that guy obviously didn’t appreciate it!

When Waitress ended at 10 PM, boyfriend picked me up and we headed to the dispensary to pick up some weed before we could go lay at home to smoke it all. 😛

I watched an episode of Atypical, two scary movies, and then the very last episode of Atypical Season 02 before going to bed.

Today, we woke up a little after noon. I laid and read some blogs on my Reader for awhile, we smoked a blunt, and then got up to deep clean the apartment. I scrubbed the toilet, shower, everything in the bathroom and boyfriend took care of the floors and the rest of the rooms. I think it’s a fair deal because the bathroom is the worst, right?!

After that, we made a run to Target. We needed to pick up some necessary household items (toothpaste, new bath towels, toilet paper, laundry detergent, a new shower curtain and hooks [we had those really annoying “fancy” metal ones so I downgraded to better, more reasonable plastic ones], coffee grounds, snacks), I also needed nail polish remover and a nail filer, and a box and tape to finally send Steffani that giveaway stuff she won from me last month.

When we were looking for our last item on the list, ALL of the lights went out inside of Target. My heart dropped– I was so terrified that it was some kind of hold up and we were all going to get shot!! Another customer was cracking jokes and kind of kept the mood light but, I was still scared. It wasn’t long before they had all of the backup lights on, the employees announced we could still check out if we had cash only. We rushed to the cash registers thinking the line would be huge but, we noticed a LOT of people don’t use cash. Lucky us!

wp-1539229968290..jpg

When we got home, I took a shower in our squeaky clean tub, with our new bath curtains and I felt like I was in a whole different bathroom. 😀 Boyfriend made dinner while I was in there, I came out and checked my lovely comments on here. Before I was done responding to them all, I had food to eat in front of me!! We watched the first episode of Drake & Josh while we ate but, turned it off when we were done eating because I had to get started on this entry!

Here’s the photo of those cookies that I promised:

I REALLY want to see Waitress, it’s coming to the West End soon I need to see it but Dear Evan Hanson and Hamilton are top of my list.
What did you think of second series of Atypical?xxx

    1. I love the Crying Tiger, too, but boyfriend usually prefers the Beef Salad so we don’t get it that often!
I liked Waitress, I just was expecting so much more for how much buzz is on about it. Dear Evan Hansen is part of my season! I keep hearing good things about it so I can’t wait for it! I tried so hard to get tickets to Hamilton when it came here but, it was impossible. 😦 I woke up early AF & everything… I wonder if it’ll come back!!
I also saw that Amber from Love Island 3 is going to be in a play on the West End in January!! How fun is that?! I’d so love to see her!!

I loved the second series of Atypical!! I’m going to write a little review about it next month. 🙂

      1. Ah – I suppose if you have something more often it looses how good it is but I do love it.
Hmmmmm… I think I’ll priories DEH and Hamilton over Waitress then.
I can’t wait to see your review on DEH, I love the soundtrack I listen to it all the time when I’m driving. I’m sure it will come back, or you’ll have to go to NYC to see it or London 😉
I know I can’t believe it, it’s the Dolly Parton one isn’t it. I love Dolly!
I know you love a bit of reality TV that has been a programme called The Circle in the U.K. and it was fuckin brilliant – see if you can find it and watch it.
        Xxx

        1. Ahh!! It’s so hard to get tickets for Hamilton even in London & NYC, isn’t it?! I’ll for sure let you know about DEH!! 😀

Yeah it’s a Dolly Parton one! There’s also a Dolly Parton musical in my lineup but I forget the name! She’s so funny, I love her, too!! 😀

I’m gonna search Netflix & Hulu for The Circle!! Thanks for the rec. ❤ You know me so well!! ❤

  2. Omg that soup looks delicious! I could use some right now; foggy and chilly today!
Have you seen the movie Waitress? It’s pretty good. I plan on seeing A Christmas Carol this year ☺️
Loved this post, as usual, and thanks for sending my goodies 💕

I didn't know there was a movie for Waitress?! I'm definitely gonna try to find it to watch now! Is A Christmas Carol a musical?! I'm so jealous!!

❤ ❤ hope you get your box soon!!

  3. I tried the Maple Pecan (but as a latte, not a frapp) recently for the first time and I was so disappointed because I didn’t taste any maple at all! I was so looking forward to it since I don’t like the PSL. I may have to try it as the frapp, though, maybe the flavor will be stronger!

    Like

    1. I’m not a PSL kinda gal either but, I did love the Maple Pecan frapp. The crunchy topping is my fave! Not sure the flavor is really all that maple-y though to be honest… it just tastes like sweet lol.

  4. First of all, I love your long posts. The journal entry style is my favorite! The bathroom is definitely the worst room to clean! I am supposed to do that tonight…and I am not looking forward to it 😉
That Target Story is pretty scary! I bet a lot of people took “5 finger discounts!” But, yikes! I would not want to be there!
Finally, I liked your double entendre with your boyfriend dipping into your “cookie.” That was very clever!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Aw yay 🙂 so glad you like the long posts!! It really, truly means so much to me that you read them. ❤

Ugh yes, the bathroom is so worst, isn't it?! I'm sorry you were due to clean yours, too. 😦

I was also thinking a lot of people were probs stuffing things into their pockets & bags & were able to get away with it… I could only worry about getting shot the whole time lol.

Heheh, yay! You caught my little double entendre. 😉 ❤

    1. Right!? My heart was racing a hundred MPH!! So many crazy people out there & I thought I was caught in the line of fire looking for everyday items!! Idk what was wrong but I’m glad it wasn’t anything scary. Whew!

& the cookies were so so yum. 😀

  5. Okay a complete vegan menu?! Sign me up! Love it. The best vegan meal I have had to date is from a vegan restaurant—I think it was a vegan red curry duck. SO good! The rest of the food looks delish here too.

Bahah it is lit. Always a good time getting Thai 😉

I love that you ate the mango sticky rice at home too- I usually end up eating the rest of my leftovers by the end of the evening. Maraschino cherries over rice is a strange concept though, I agree!

OOo I will have to try this bar saves lives- I think I’ve seen them, but haven’t had one yet. Looks tasty! Especially with the maple pecan.. YUM!

hahah I literally played the Jeopardy theme song in my head. Amazing. Glad you’re back!

OH! I think Sara Bareilles wrote “she used to be mine”. I’m sure people in comments have mentioned it by now- but I think that’s in the musical!

This sounds like a great show- I’m the same way- even if I spot things I don’t love about a show, I’ll still enjoy it no matter what. The Lion King is #1 that I want to see. Cannot wait to hear about it.

And HECK yeah that was a fair deal- bathrooms really are the worst.

That’s bananas what happened in Target- I’d be freaked out too, especially this day and age.

Those cookies look phenomenal! YUM! Such a fun post!! (As usual) xoxo. Have a great weekend, love!

    1. Yeah! I was so surprised to see all their vegan options! You would have had a ball. ;D I really didn’t like those maraschino cherries though– such a weird idea!

Yes yes yes, try the This Bar Saves Lives. ❤ It's so so yummy!! I think they're sold in all Starbucks but, not sure Peet would be very happy with you hahaa.

HAHAHA I am so happy you played the jeopardy theme song, I was going to place the YouTube video of it there but I was like nah, everyone should have it in their head already. 😉 😉

OHH! No, you're the first to mention what Sara Bareilles had to do with the musical!! Thanks for informing me, I was so confused lol!! That makes that she wrote that song because it was one of the best out of 'em all!!

I hate hearing people talk crap about a show after it ends or how the guy next to me & a few people in front of me didn't come back after intermission, it made me sad! I don't know how you can't enjoy a show even if it isn't the best best best, y'know!? I'm beyond excited for The Lion King!! Can't wait to share it with you. ❤

Lol YESS, our apartment is fairly small so I do think it's fair, too!! The bathroom is the worst & needs the most attention, am I right?! 😛

I know!! I was soooo scared at Target. My heart was about to come out of my chest… so many crazy people out there!!

The cookies were wonderful, soo ooey gooey in the middle & crisp on the edges. 😀 Have you ever tried Sweet Loren's cookies?!

Always so nice to read your comments, Mackenzie. ❤ You are so lovely!!! Hope you have a great weekend, too. ❤ ❤

      1. Heck ya- I have a hard time recalling music and songs on the spot, but the Jeopardy everyone should know for sure!!

Yeah, girl! I wonder if she wrote others in it too?!

You. are. right! I’m always on bathroom duty too.. but I do make the biggest mess on the counter and have the most makeup all over the darn place, so I feel it’s only fair. DJ does the dishes which I hate doing so I appreciate that 🙂

Ahh the cookies look tremendous! I haven’t, but I neeeed to!!! Where do you get them? Just the grocery store?

Aww, you too, girl! I was actually just telling DJ today how I wish we lived close because I feel like we are so similar in our personalities and would have such fun hanging out! XO

        Liked by 1 person

        1. Okay so I actually think she wrote all the songs & even stars in it as Jenna in New York. I just read the little blurb on Bing & that’s what I got out of it anyway lol.

Hahah yes, we are the same!! I make the biggest mess on the counter & boyfriend does the dishes, too!!

Yeah the cookies are found at any grocery store!! 🙂 Hope you like them if you try them!!

I so wish we lived closer too. ❤ ❤ We would have so much fun!!! I know we will for sure meet one day & I can't wait for it. 😀

hahah- yup, I am the same way- especially when I’m cooking. I make the BIGGEST messes ever. Even just in the morning- I’m bad about leaving little wrappers and silverware on the counter too. Drives Deej a tiny bit nuts haha.

            Ahh , me too<3 ❤

  6. Oh my god those cookies look so good! Also, I’m so jealous that you have a pass to go see all the shows! That sounds like such a fun thing to do. Sucks that the guy next to you didn’t even stay for the whole show 🙄 What a waste of a ticket.
And omg I would’ve puked being in Target with the lights out! I have such a fear of stores getting robbed or shot up 💀 Funny that hardly anyone in there was using cash, I never use cash either 😂

    1. Sweet Loren’s cookies are so freakin’ fantastic!! Give ’em a try!! 😀

I love having the Broadway Subscription, it’s so convenient! I only wish I had known about it last year because Hamilton was here!! I was really mad about that guy leaving & not even just him, a few other folks in front of me didn’t return after intermission either!!

Where do you live again?! Sorry if I’ve asked you before. 😛

Gosh, it was SO scary in Target. I almost cried but, they turned on the lights & said everything was okay within less than a minute so I was relieved! Whew!

Boyfriend and I both mostly get paid in cash so we were lucky haha!!

I live about 45 minutes northwest of Dallas! I just looked it up and they do have the Broadway Subscription for the Dallas location 😍😍 and omgggg my husband’s cousin got to see Hamilton AND meet Lin-Manuel Miranda in NYC! She said it was sooooo amazing.

I definitely would’ve freaked out right there with you 😂

  7. Omg I went to a new Thai place this weekend with one of my cousins and everything in the menu looked so good I went with a soup too but forgot what it was called lol.
I also had a Thai coffee and it looked like that Thai tea it was really good.
I’m seriously needing to check out a musical, because you’re not the only one who has gone to see them and they sound interesting but idk if I’d be into them though the lion king one definitely interested me but only because that movie is one of my all time faves
Anyway that’s crazy that the lights went out at target I would be panicking too no joke, and that’s funny that no one carries cash anymore, I do and have been trying to use plastic less and less because it’s so easy to swipe and not care how much you’ve spent lol.
Those cookies look amazing by the way, I’m gonna be doin a lot of trials for baking next month once I’m done with these Halloween looks and videos lol

    1. Mm, mm. Did you take photos of the soup at the Thai place you went to?!? Hehe… I wanna drool over it. 😋 Have you ever tried Vietnamese coffee?!

Yes musicals are seriously so magical; I don’t see how you wouldn’t enjoy them, they’re so lively & fun, y’know?! But I totally understand everyone has different interests!! I’ve looked up Portland’s Broadway season & there are tons of good shows coming your way. 😄

Omg yeah. I was sooo scared but, it wasn’t long before they had the backup generators running, thankfully! I would prob have become an full blown agoraphobic if I survived a holdup/shooting!

Boyfriend and I both mostly get paid in cash so we were so lucky!!

Ooohh! I’m excited to see your baking trials, if you decide to share them with us (no pressure!!). ♡♡♡

      1. I DID NOT!!! I know, I’m so terrible, but since we were with my cousin I didn’t want to be rude and not be present you know? Because he graciously took us out shooting and lunch was on us. Besides, I hardly get to hang out with him outside of family parties and gatherings.
I have no tried Vietnamese coffee yet, but I am looking for a good Vietnamese spot for food around here, I really wanna try pho too 🙂
Omg haha thats true I forgot about that 🙂
I might, because in the end, a lot of that stuff that I’m baking will be made for my son’s birthday party at the beginning of December. Oh man, I just realized how busy I truly am for the rest of the year XD

        1. Haha dang! It’s okay!! ❤ Hope you can find a nice Viet place to try! The iced coffee with condensed milk is a dreeeam. Pho will change your life but, also try a Banh Mi sandwich if you can!! 🙂

I will probably try their Thai tea if they have it too. And what’s in a Banh Mi sandwich? i think you’ve had it many times already, or I mean, you’ve featured it on your blog right?
LOL yess! If you’ve seen most of that then you might already know what kind of things I’m working on but I won’t spoil it and leave it for the final reveal in December LMAO

            Liked by 1 person

            1. Banh Mi sandwiches can have grilled pork, beef, or chicken and the rest is some pickled and fresh veggies, a pate spread and more… I don’t really know honestly but I love it!! I think you would too. 🙂 I’ve featured them a few times on my blog, yeah! ❤

Ok ok!! Can't wait to see it all come to life in December!! 😀

  8. I’m glad you had great actors for Waitress! Personally I don’t have much interest in that one but I think you’ll LOVE The Lion King! It’s AMAZING! And omg if that happened to me at Target I wouldn’t be able to get anything because I never have cash! In fact, my Target debit card is loaded onto my app so I rarely even have the physical card with me anymore either!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yes the acting & singing in Waitress was phenomenal but… the storyline was a bit boring and really cliche. Not what I was expecting at all! Don’t blame ya for wanting to skip that one. 😉 I cannnot wait for The Lion King!! I just am worried about the whole kid situation lol I hope there are not too many near me!!

I think most people were in the same boat as you lol there were so many abandoned carts when it was announced “cash only”!!

Strawbeeey acai with lemonade OR coconut milk depending on my moods
Or the cinnamon dolce latte. It’s been this way for YEAAARRSSS lol. You and your boyfriend sound adorable and like you enjoy each other’s company very much. I love it. I love your vibe. So much energy and positivity all the time. It’s contagious. Keep it up xoxo

That’s so sweet of you to say!! Boyfriend & I really do enjoy each other. ❤ & I'm so, so happy I can spread the positivity all the way to where you are!! Thank you so much for your lovely comment. ❤
