October 10, 2018
Ah hello friends, I switched up my schedule a bit since I was too lazy to write a journal entry after the musical last night– everything around here’s all messed up now, lol.
Last time I wrote was on Sunday so I’ll just rewind back to Monday.
Boyfriend had to work the evening shift. I didn’t do much besides read. Read blogs and read Josh and Hazel. When he got home around 8 PM, I was still in bed… reading. 😛
I got up right away for a shower and then we smoked a blunt before we headed off to dinner. We decided to try a Thai spot we’ve never been to before called Table Thai, it was only 13 minutes away and the ratings were high on Yelp so we thought we’d give it a shot.
The first page of their menu was a complete vegan menu. I was impressed at all of the options they had; they even had all different types of faux meats (beef, chicken, or pork). It looked nearly the same as the regular menu– I was wowed even though I’m not vegan and ordered nothing off of it.
Their interior was pretty, cozy, and intimate. Perfect for a little late dinner night like we had. I especially loved that I had a long bench with a back to sit on instead of a traditional chair.
As usual, it took awhile for me to decide what to order and we also had trouble choosing our appetizers since everything just sounded sooo good!! Eventually we decided on the Crying Tiger and Fresh Summer Rolls w/ Shrimp to share:
The Crying Tiger had the most wonderfully cooked and seasoned pieces of beef. The dipping sauce was so tasty and they also gave us this little thing of spiciness (a thai pepper mix– not pictured) to pile on top of our food; we put heaps on top of each piece of beef… IT WAS SOOOO YUM. I wish I could have brought that pepper mix home with me!!
I was kind of mad about the big leaf in the rolls because it made it really hard to eat. I couldn’t get my mouth around the whole thing and it wasn’t just because I have a small mouth either!! I also prefer a hoisin sauce dip over a sweet fish sauce dip.
For my entree, I had the toughest time deciding on if I wanted a noodle soup or a noodle stir-fry. It’s finally getting a bit nipply outside when the sun goes down now so I went with a soup!!
The Tom Kha w/ Shrimp & Steamed Flat Noodles ^. It’s always more fun when there’s a fire at the table, right?! When the waitress asked if I wanted it lit, I was like “duh!!” LOL.
Boyfriend surprisingly went for my usual stir-fry pick the Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mao) instead of his usual pick Silver/Glass Noodles (Pad Woon Sen).
He got both beef and chicken in his ^. It wasn’t as spicy as we had hoped but, that’s okay because we had that beautiful pepper mix she gifted us (you can see it in the photo below) and the whole spice wheel to fix that. I thought they spiced my Tom Kha really well though. 🙂
We ordered dessert but had it packed to-go because I was way too full to eat it there. Boyfriend just got the Thai Tea:
And I had the Mango Sticky Rice. I ate it not too long after we got home.
I don’t know what that little orange sauce was ^ but, it wasn’t the usual hot coconut milk that I so enjoy over my mangoes and sticky rice. It tasted just like a mango puree; way too sweet… I didn’t end up using it with anything. I was not likin’ those dang maraschino cherries all over my rice either… the juices ruined the rice’s flavor and reminded me of drinking a cocktail.
At least the mangoes were delish, fresh, and plump and not every single grain of the rice balls were contaminated so I was able to eat a good amount of it still.
I can’t remember what I did for the rest of the night. I’m sure it was a mix of eating snacks, writing, reading, and watching TV.
Yesterday was a little hectic! We got up and running a little later than we should have. I thought I had some good recipes but, I had chosen them with a sleepy brain the night before and decided against all of them just as I was gearing up to write the grocery list. I took some time finding 3 new ones.
We didn’t leave for the grocery store until a little past 4 PM and we got home just after 5 PM. The musical started at 07:30 PM but, I like to leave the apartment at around 6 PM and stop at Starbucks for some caffeine before I go so when we got home, boyfriend was in a rush to get dinner ready and I was in a rush to get in the shower and eat all the food.
Somehow, thanks to my superman of a boyfriend, we were able to eat, smoke a blunt, and go to Starbucks all before 07:00 PM! We even had time to sit in the parking lot a little before I went in.
At Starbucks, boyfriend and I both ordered their seasonal Maple Pecan Frappucino with 3 extra shots of espresso. I got almond milk and he got cow’s milk and extra ice; we both really loved it!!! I think I remember getting this a few times last year, too. Mmm, mmm. Why can’t it be around always?!
I got myself two This Bar Saves Lives – Dark Chocolate & Peanut Butter bars to munch on during the show, too. I only ate one and one bite though. They are quite filling!!
Please hold…. I am going to go make some cookies and coffee right now– I told boyfriend I’d put those stinkin’ cookies in the oven after I finished typing this which was a mistake because now he’s all antsy and I can’t focus on typing lol. I wanna tell you all about the musical still so BRB.

Okay okay, I’m back. I set the cookies on the cookie sheet (we’re making Sweet Loren’s Fudgy Brownie) and I guess boyfriend was getting antsy for more than those baked cookies because before I could pop them in the oven, he brought me for a quick detour to take a dip into my cookie!!! Hehe… I just had to say it. 😉
Anyways, I just popped those cute little chocolate rounds into the oven now. They should be done in about 10 minutes. I’ll have a picture of them at the end of the post!! 😉
NOW BACK TO THE MUSICAL!!
If you didn’t already know, I have a Broadway Subscription at The Smith Center here in Las Vegas and am seeing all 10 shows this 2018/19 Season! The show I saw yesterday, Waitress, is the 3rd show of the season and only the 5th Broadway show I’ve ever seen.
I was more than excited to see this one because I remember seeing it advertised all over New York when I went earlier this year buuuut, over there it had Sara Bareilles’ face behind it! She wrote the songs and/or the script or something? I’m sorry, I didn’t do my research at all… I just know her name is written all over it. For some reason, I thought her hit Love Song was going to be incorporated into the musical but, I was mistaken lol.
I love having the same seat for every show I attend… it feels like it belongs to me… do you remember how kids used to say “your name wasn’t on it!” when someone stole your spot?? It feels like my name IS on this seat (in invisible ink)… and no one can steal it.
In the show, every single cast member blew me away; incredible amounts of talent filled that stage. My favorite character was Ogie who was played by Jeremy Morse and Dr. Pomatter who was played by Bryan Fenkart. I know I’m supposed to hate Earl (played by Matt DeAngelis) but, his duet with Jenna, “You Will Still Be Mine”, won my heart– it was hands down the best musical number out of them all. Coming in hot at second place would be Jenna’s solo, “She Used To Be Mine”— she tore at all my heart strings and brought tears to my eyes every time she held that note.
But to be honest, a few of the songs were completely dull to me… (the ones that were like talking-singing/not rhyming).
The plot was not what I was expecting at all. I thought it would have A LOT more to do with being a waitress but, it was more like a straight-to-Netflix rom-com with singing.
There are SO many things I would change about the ending but, the one they gave us was nice, too… I guess. If you’ve seen this performance, please discuss your thoughts with me! I can’t be the only one who had hoped some things differently for Jenna!?
In the end, I don’t think it would be possible for me to not enjoy a musical/play. I had so much fun and can NOT wait for the next one. It’s time for The Lion King!!!! Boyfriend really wanted to go but, all of the tickets are already sold out on the date I’m going (beginning of next month). He’s not as into these shows as much as I am so we usually just check on the day of or the day before to see if one of the seats next to me is available– it never has been (yet) but, I’m annoyed that the guy right next to me at the Waitress didn’t return after intermission!! Boyfriend so could’ve had that ticket since that guy obviously didn’t appreciate it!
When Waitress ended at 10 PM, boyfriend picked me up and we headed to the dispensary to pick up some weed before we could go lay at home to smoke it all. 😛
I watched an episode of Atypical, two scary movies, and then the very last episode of Atypical Season 02 before going to bed.
Today, we woke up a little after noon. I laid and read some blogs on my Reader for awhile, we smoked a blunt, and then got up to deep clean the apartment. I scrubbed the toilet, shower, everything in the bathroom and boyfriend took care of the floors and the rest of the rooms. I think it’s a fair deal because the bathroom is the worst, right?!
After that, we made a run to Target. We needed to pick up some necessary household items (toothpaste, new bath towels, toilet paper, laundry detergent, a new shower curtain and hooks [we had those really annoying “fancy” metal ones so I downgraded to better, more reasonable plastic ones], coffee grounds, snacks), I also needed nail polish remover and a nail filer, and a box and tape to finally send Steffani that giveaway stuff she won from me last month.
When we were looking for our last item on the list, ALL of the lights went out inside of Target. My heart dropped– I was so terrified that it was some kind of hold up and we were all going to get shot!! Another customer was cracking jokes and kind of kept the mood light but, I was still scared. It wasn’t long before they had all of the backup lights on, the employees announced we could still check out if we had cash only. We rushed to the cash registers thinking the line would be huge but, we noticed a LOT of people don’t use cash. Lucky us!
When we got home, I took a shower in our squeaky clean tub, with our new bath curtains and I felt like I was in a whole different bathroom. 😀 Boyfriend made dinner while I was in there, I came out and checked my lovely comments on here. Before I was done responding to them all, I had food to eat in front of me!! We watched the first episode of Drake & Josh while we ate but, turned it off when we were done eating because I had to get started on this entry!
Here’s the photo of those cookies that I promised:
