Boy Meets World (1993-2000)

IMDb Synopsis:

“Adolescent Cory Matthews grows up, and faces problems with friends, family, and school.”

My Review:

If you have not watched Boy Meets World, what are you doing with your life? Of course, I had grown up on this show but boyfriend had NEVER seen it before. I knew that if I started watching it while he was around that he’d want to get in on it. After the first few episodes, he told me not to watch it without him anymore. It became “our” show for a good couple months. No matter your race, gender, or age – there is something in this show for you. Forget Friends, because this group of pals is even better. On the last episode of the entire series, I was crying before the sad parts even showed because I knew the ending was near and I started missing the characters. That’s how you know you’re watching a good show. I would say this is hands down the best thirty minute show that has ever been on-air. It is hilarious, touching, and just all around amazing. Cory and Topanga are the original “relationship goals.” Shawn and Cory are the original “bromance.” Boy Meets World is an absolute MUST WATCH for every single soul out there.

Bunheads (2012-2013)

IMDb Synopsis:

“Michelle, a Las Vegas showgirl marries a man on a whim and moves to his sleepy coastal town where she winds up working alongside her new mother-in-law at her dance school.”

My Review:

I was immediately intrigued by this series when I saw that the main character, Michelle (Sutton Foster), was a showgirl in Las Vegas. The series strays away from that completely but, I was already too in love with the characters to care. Sasha is so damn elegant, it’s unfair. I love her, and Boo. Ginny and Melanie were funny and I liked that they started to get deeper and deeper into all of their stories throughout the series. Michelle is a freakin’ HOOT. Super quick-witted and so dang funny. She made me laugh constantly. I found myself stupidly smiling during all of her silly antics. It was hard for me to get Fanny’s character from Gilmore Girls out of my head but, once I was able to, I loved her. She was almost as funny as Michelle. Millie and Truly were just A-Plus characters. So quirky and different, almost hateable but, WAY more lovable. Sadly, this show was cancelled after the first season and the very last episode doesn’t even seem like a finale. It’s kind of boring? There’s no cliffhanger nor any dramatic events – there’s nothin’!

Recovery Road (2016)

IMDB Synopsis:

“Centers on Maddie, a party girl and a highly functioning addict who makes the difficult decision to live with other recovering addicts at a rehab facility, while facing the daily pressures of her teenage life.”

My Review:

How could they just cancel this series with such a heavy cliffhanger? Ugh. I wish there was a Season 02. I loved the characters and all of the actors and actresses who portrayed them. Each episode was a flashback of some of the residents’ (who stayed in the facility with Maddie) pasts. I’m guessing Season 02 would have dived into the remaining untold stories. The cast chosen for the younger versions of each character was so spot on, it was scary! It was such a creative and genius way to show us how everyone ended up where they are. All of the characters were so different – all of their lives tangled together in the middle and then, everything exploded at the end… it was all pieced together unbelievably well and it was just so jaw-droppingly insane how everything that happens causes some kind of consequence later in the series. You have to pay attention to every little detail, it’s all drama drama drama – which is my absolute favorite! I still can’t believe there wasn’t enough viewers to keep this show going.

  1. I loved Bunheads when it was on-air! I’m a Gilmore Girl girl through-and-through, so I knew I would love Bunheads before it even premiered. It’s such a shame that it ended so quickly. 😦

    1. It was so crazy, the whole time I was thinking about how Truly reminded me SO MUCH of Paris from Gilmore Girls then… all of a sudden she showed up as her sister!! LOL. I loved the show, it was great. So sad that it ended so soon!!!

  2. I have watched all of Boy Meets World from about the time Angela appeared.
The odd thing is, or the wrong thing depending on who you talk to, is that I really liked the girl from the Ski lodge more than Topanga for Corey. I have rewatched that episode and the follow up when she comes to visit him and I am totally convinced that she was the better choice—I know what I am saying is sacrilege, but I can’t help it.

          1. I figured so….especially after you “liked” the comment and then reacted to it.
Seriously, I did expect some blowback over my comment. I know how much people love Topanga….
Have you also watched Girl Meets World?

              1. I was enjoying it and thought it was a well done reboot. I was waiting for Jack to reunite with the woman.
Topanga is great, but I just liked ski lodge girl more. This isn’t the first time my choice was completely disregarded by the writers. On Friends I rooted for Chandler and Kathy, Phoebe and the scientist guy…

  3. I used to watch Boy Meets World when it was on air, when I was a kid. I liked it, but it was never one of my most favorite shows. I haven’t watched it since then though, so I don’t know how I would like it now as an adult.

  4. I’ve heard of BMW but never ever seen it! your review sounds sooo good, it sounds like one of those shows that will just make me feel good whilst I watch it, like a comfort show if that makes sense? Like you say you miss the characters when it ends etc! I hope you know what I mean 😂
It’s a shame both of those other shows got cancelled after the first season! I like the sound of Recovery Road and Bunheads sounds interesting too and I love the sound of Michelle’s character!

    1. Awww, yes!!! I know exactly what you mean & BMW is definitely one of those shows! WATCH IT, whenever you get the chance!! ❤
I KNOW! I would have sooo tuned in for a second season of both shows, especially Recovery Road! & I totally wish I could be as quick-witted & smart as Michelle from Bunheads! ❤
