Ipsy Glam Bag | June 2018

Hi, all! We’re going to take a quick break from my Restaurant Week posts today because I want to show you what I got in my June Ipsy bag before I get my July one!! I also have four other subscription boxes that have been unboxed and need to be reviewed for this month so stay tuned! 🙂

The bag this month is so plain Jane. I don’t have much to say about it; I don’t hate it or love it.

The theme this month was: Flying Colors since it is PRIDE month!! I loved that. I stopped really reading the backs of these postcards because they’re always so lame. I wish with all my heart that they’d stop writing the little letters to us and just do the products and description on the back.

What Was In My Bag?!

Sahi Cosmetics
Eyeshadow in Dubai

“This metallic foil eyeshadow is made with crushed pearls that catch and reflect light, so you’re giving off nothing but glow. It’s highly-pigmented, buildable, and moisturizing, so your lids will be comfy wearing it all day (and night).” –Ipsy

My Review: It takes a LOT of product before anything shows up and even when it does; it’s pretty much just shimmer and sparkles. If you go onto the Sahi Cosmetics website, there are swatches on an arm that are SUPER pigmented… I don’t even think if I used the entire pan that I’d achieve that level of pigmentation. Talk about false advertisement.

Full-Size Retail Value: $22

Estate Cosmetics
Lip Icing in Goodie

“The iridescent shade is gorgeous on its own, but when you apply it over your lip color, it adds a gorgeous, golden sheen. Goodie is a pretty preach with a subtle holographic shimmer that works for everything from pool parties to summer weddings.” –Ipsy

My Review: In the above photos of me, I’m also wearing this lipgloss, er, I mean, lip icing. I don’t know, it didn’t really leave that much of an impression on me. It’s just a simple, clear gloss.

Full-Size Retail Value: Not sure, this product is not available on Estate Cosmetics’ website. Similar products are priced at $10.
Cruelty-Free?: Yes

Beauty For Real
I-Line 24-7 Eyeliner in Whiskey

“The gel-based formula is highly-pigmented, long-lasting, and waterproof. You can splash the day away without fear of smudging. It’s made with vitamin E that helps nourish, condition, and soften the delicate skin on your lids. This baby’s retractable–just twist up the pencil (there’s enough for up to 25 twists!) to reveal more product.” –Ipsy

My Review: My eyeliner doesn’t twist up, it just stays put and makes a clicking sound when I spin it. I usually don’t even open the eyeliners I receive in my sub boxes because they’re usually black. I was excited to try a “whiskey”-colored one! It glided on so smoothly and it was easy to draw a straight line with. No smudges! The color shows up nice and dark right away, it doesn’t pull at your eyelids one bit. I really liked it! I wish mine wasn’t broken but, I know I wouldn’t use it enough to bother Ipsy for a new one.

Full-Size Retail Value: $14

Skinlongevity® Vital Power Serum

“It packs a special blend of ginger extract which helps brighten, and antioxidant-packed California poppy which protects your skin from damage like fine lines and sun spots. It’s really lightweight and sinks into your skin immediately–so right after applying you’ll feel fresh, hydrated, and super glowy.” –Ipsy

My Review: Love love love this. It smells like freshly peeled oranges with a tiny hint of ginger, so very lovely. It’s a silky, runny liquid that easily and quickly dissolves into your skin. I’ve been using this for almost a whole week straight, right after a shower and before applying moisturizer. I’ve noticed my face literally glowing in the sun and my skin has NEVER been softer nor brighter.

Full-Size Retail Value: $58 (50mL)

Formula 10.0.06 — Three Times Sublime

“It’s a cleanser, exfoliant, and face mask (yup, all three) that treats blemishes, removes blackheads, unclogs pores, and controls oil. This one’s made with gentle jojoba beads to scrub away icky stuff without stripping your skin of moisture.” –Ipsy

My Review: Mmm, I love the scent. I think my favorite scents are the citrus fruits. I only used this as a cleanser even though there are three other ways to use it. The formula is THICK and the beads are so tiny, they almost feel sharp. My cheeks felt stripped of moisture right after washing it away. I won’t continue using this but, I told my boyfriend he can have it so he’d stop using my Nip + Fab!! He liked it just fine. 😉

Full-Size Retail Value: $6.99 (100mL) on Ulta’s website (my computer tells me their main website is dangerous and won’t connect to it so be careful entering your info there if you get through to it)
Cruelty-Free?: Yes

I had never heard of any of these brands before (except bareMinerals) but, that’s what I LOVE about Ipsy. They always introduce me to new, cute, and less popular brands. ALL of them happened to be cruelty-free this month, too! 😀

  1. Great review! It’s so sad that the eyeshadow was not that pigmented. I always hate when it takes a lot of product just to make the colors pop. Also, I’m definitely going to look into the BareMinerals serum! Great post, love

    1. I know! It looked so pretty. It’s crazy how pigmented they advertise it to be on their site, too. 😛 I hope you like the BareMinerals serum if you end up purchasing it. I’m glad you enjoyed the post, Kelsey! ❤

  2. Awww, what a bummer when the cosmetics don’t deliver… I don’t like eye shadow not being pigmented enough! I like the shimmer though! And, last but definitely not least, you have beautiful skin!

    1. Yeah it is definitely a bummer but it is still fun trying new things. ;D And I agree, eyeshadows that aren’t pigmented enough are just the worst. You are the sweetest, Noriko! Thank you! ❤

  3. That eyeshadow looked so pretty in the pot but when I saw the swatch, I just was like wtf? HAHAHA. The lip icing is so sheer too! But at least you found something awesome in that bareminerals serum, it sounds so good! 😃

    1. I KNOW! I swiped it on my wrist like four times before it would even show up on camera! 😛 Yeah, the lipgloss is lame but I guess at least it has a good formula that wasn’t drying so it’s usable. The serum was the most wonderful, I want to buy more but for $58? WOW!

    1. Thank you! At least it will work for adding a little sparkle to my face. 😉 I hope you like the serum & it works for you as nicely as it does for me!

  4. Love the colour of the eyeliner, it’s so subtle but effective on you. I think black eyeliner can people look kinda mean sometimes, ha! My skin tone also kills any colour that vaguely natural as well, although that’s shit they are advertising it, as more than it is anyway.

    1. I liked the color, too! Thank you. 🙂 & oh gosh, you’re right! It does make some people look kinda mean & when they take it off, they look so innocent & sweet.
Yeah, the eyeshadow wouldn’t have been that big of a fail if I didn’t go to the website and see their fake swatches!!

  5. I like the color scheme of the bag, but you’re right, it’s so plain and boring. I still have my Ipsy on hold, so I’m kinda glad I didn’t get this bag. The Sahi shadow looks SO GOOD on you! It really makes your eyes pop. You’re right that it doesn’t seem very pigmented, but it seems like it could be great to use on top of another shadow, maybe, to add a little sparkle. That lip gloss does look pretty generic. I feel like if I had gotten this bag, ipsy probably would have sent that to me too, and I wouldn’t have been impressed. I rarely wear glosses like that. The bareMinerals serum sounds amazing. I would love to try that one!

    1. Yeah, I saw there was pink & yellow bags, too. 😛 I like both of those colors better than blue.

Yeah, I do like the sparkle from the Sahi eyeshadow but, when I went on her website… there are swatches that show how the eyeshadow should look & it just made me mad because I knew I could never achieve that kind of pigmentation with the product, you know? 😛

Lol, yeah. The lip gloss was plain and boring but at least it wasn’t like bad and drying. I did really like that serum. It seems a bit expensive but, I’m gonna be so sad when it’s all gone. I’ve been using it everyday.

    1. Yay!! Thank you, Pamela. 🙂 I’m glad you like them! You know, I’m not sure I’ve really ever liked anything by Bareminerals before either but I am so impressed with this serum. ❤

  6. I’ve never heard of the first three brands lol. So cool you got a serum from bare minerals, I didn’t even know they had one, but glad your skin looks great! I would love to try it. 😁
And I didn’t know they would ever have formula 10.0.6 here. That’s so weird I’ve never seen that specific product, or maybe I have but skipped past it since I don’t feel like I need it, but it sounds interesting. I need scrubs in my vanity lol. But anyway, I love their best face forward cleanser, my FAVORITE!!

    1. I think this serum from Bareminerals is new! 😀 It’s so great!
So you like Formula 10.0.6? Maybe I should try a different product from them like that cleanser! Does it remove makeup?

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Yes, I think the brand has good products. They do have another cleanser besides this one. If I remember correctly, it’s a coconut milk cleanser, and while no it doesn’t remove makeup (it’s just a foam cleanser) they do have a micellar water that I like so far.

              1. Lmao that was my bad then, I should have been more specific haha. But yes, formula 10.0.6 is good in my opinion, everything is pretty affordable. Their website says they’re CF but the packaging doesn’t so I’m a little confused about that.
Try their Best Face Forward foaming cleanser, it’s $5.99 on ulta I believe, their micellar water is made for sensitive skin and i think it’s around the same price too. They might sell the brand at target too I can’t remember. Lol.
