Journal Entry #85

April 20, 2018

Happy Friday and Happy 4/20, friends! ;D

We weren’t able to go to Long Beach yesterday because our car wasn’t ready to pass a smog test. It had to sit in the auto shop for 4 hours so we weren’t able to drive it, obviously. I was so sad but oh well, we only live 4 hours away so we’ll make it out there someday.

We did end up driving to Hoover Dam though because we needed to take the car for a long drive so that it would be able to pass the smog test. Something about the something needed to restart before we could get the test done, who knows? Who cares? The car passed the smog test when we got back from the dam.

The drive there is 45 minutes– we passed hella mountains and Lake Mead. I tried to read You on the Kindle app on my phone but, I was too distracted by the beautiful scenery and conversations with my dad and boyfriend. There was a sign saying “watch out for sheep” but unfortunately, I didn’t spot a single one.

To get into the Hoover Dam visitor area you have to go into Arizona for a second so even though we weren’t able to go out of state to Cali, we still went out of state! That counts, right?!

After we parked our car, we climbed to the top of the mountain. They made a sidewalk and stairs so it’s not like really climbing a mountain.

As we walked through to the bridge, there were little stops like this:

We didn’t really stop to read anything. There were tributes and memorials and general info about the Hoover Dam and surrounding areas.

We finally made it to the bridge (^). It was really windy and cold… and I forgot to bring a jacket, of course… so I didn’t really wanna walk too much more. We made it to the middle of the bridge, took a few photos of the dam then we drove down to drive across the dam and that was it… we started back towards home.

We went to get the smog test done. After that, we drove to the M Resort to eat at the buffet. My dad had eaten without us, earlier in the day, while he waited for the car to be fixed and while I slept… he gambled while boyfriend and I pigged out.

Then, we drove my dad around to all the casinos that advertised online that they had the card game Mississippi Studs. The first one we went to was The Rio. We spent a good amount of time there then he wanted to see the Green Valley Ranch Casino which actually didn’t have the game. He ended up playing the Three Card Poker for a long while and gave boyfriend and me a few $5 chips to get out of his hair and play the slot machines with. We finally left at nearly 1a. We dropped my dad off at Circus Circus where he was sleeping and he found the Mississippi game there. We came home, smoked a blunt, watched TV, smoked another blunt, then knocked out.

My dad called us at around 10a this morning but we didn’t wake up until 1p. He tried to walk to our apartment which is NOT close to Circus Circus at all. Boyfriend woke up right away and went to pick him up. We called this junkyard to sell our two broken cars to but… they had a different address on their website from where their junkyard is. My boyfriend drove one car, my dad drove the other, and I drove our new one. We all had made it halfway to the address we thought they were at when boyfriend got a text from them saying that they were located somewhere else that was too far for us to go to because my dad had to catch his flight. The junkyard people said that they’ll pick it up tomorrow and I’m really hoping that they do because I want to get rid of those cars ASAP!! I don’t want my apartment manager to get mad at us for having too many cars or have them towed because they look so busted, lol.

Anyways, we ended up driving all the cars back to our apartment then we dropped my dad off at the airport. We said our goodbyes and then we drove home. I took a shower and we smoked a blunt, then we went out to eat. We decided on Five Guys (which we both just LOVE).

I prefer Five Guys over In-N-Out even though a ton of people who live here would argue with me on that one.

We stopped at Starbucks for our espressos after our dinner, came home, smoked a blunt, then I got ready for work. After that, I started typing this!! And here I am. 😛 Hopefully it’s busy for me at work tonight… cross your fingers for me?! ❤

Have a nice weekend, babes!!

P.S. Sorry that I’ve been so scattered with my posts and not keeping up with your blogs and comments but, now that my dad has gone back home I’ll be able to catch up a little bit starting tomorrow! I have only one more product from my Ipsy bag to try so that Unboxing & Review should be up soon soon soon BUT, I’ve practically got everything in my Sephora bag to try still so expect that one a little later but more than likely before the month is over.

XO, Hunida

  1. That sucks you couldn’t make it to Long Beach, but at least you got to still do something fun with your dad! Hoover Dam looks like a nice tourist spot to go to, and made for some nice photos :p can’t wait to see your Ipsy and Sephora bags!

  2. Beautiful photos – that part of the country is absolutely gorgeous. I’m envious that you guys got to spend time in the desert – and before it gets too hot no less.

Also: As fast food burgers go, there really is nothing better than Five Guys – those who argue with you are misinformed.

    1. Thank you, it was a beautiful scene! Yeah, it was actually really cold! I don’t think I’d be able to walk around the Dam in the summer heat, I’d pass out lol. I am so happy someone agrees with me that Five Guys has the best fast food burgers! 🤗

  3. I’ve never had In-N-Out since I’ve never been to the west coast, but I don’t care much for Five Guys. Their fries aren’t bad, but I just find the burgers bland and they are way too overpriced.

    1. Awww, I love Five Guys. I think it’s awesome how many toppings they have and think it’s well worth it for the price because of how much you can add to it! I do think there are better tasting burgers but not in fast food! 😛 Which fast food burgers are your favorite?!

  4. Sucks you weren’t able to go but at least you got to hang out with your dad for a while. I don’t think I’ve seen my father in like, two weeks now..
But that’s cool that you saw the Hoover dam, it looks pretty cool.
I like five guys but I’ve also had in-n-out which I prefer lmao. I love the quantities they give at five guys but I love the flavor of the in-n-out burgers lol. I’ want to take Alex to one in southern Oregon (but it’s like 4 hours away) and see what he thinks.

    1. Haha yeah when I lived in MN I’d go a few weeks without seeing my dad too but now it’s even more since I live out of state. I haven’t seen my mom in probably a year or more now.
Yeah the Hoover Dam was cool… very touristy.
Everyone always talks about the flavor I couldn’t taste when I went to In N Out lol. 😛 dang.

          1. Awh lol. I’m expecting my mom to visit sometime this summer and Alex has been thinking of going to Vegas around 4th of July because his brother is going over there and their mom is coming from Mexico for a short vacation too. I’ll let you know if we are going lol.

            1. Yeah, my mom told me she can’t visit me here because the rest of the family is in Minnesota so when she has vacay time she has to go there. Ha. I guess I’ll have to visit her in Arkansas someday!
OMG! You should totally come here for July 4th!! It’ll be hot as HECK but I’d love to hang out with you!! ❤ I'm still hoping to make it to Portland soon… I'm sad because I was so close and got set back because of my car that I still owe my dad some money for. Ugh. I did check the night market website though and they're doing it for June & August, tooo!! 😀

              1. Awh well that’s too bad. 😦 Hopefully you get to see her soon.
We’re still seeing if it will be possible. Because practically everyone at Alex’s work is asking for those days surrounding the holiday and they can only give so much time off to so many people, so if he can’t get those days off, we may not go. It’s looking like not so far 😦 but I’ll have him ask at work tomorrow what days he can have off.
That’s okay! I’ll be here always LMAO, I believe the night market they do every single month. They might skip a month or two but I love that they have lots of vendors and they’re not always the same (though some do go again). I hope you can make it here! 🙂

                1. Where does your mom live? Aww. I hope they’re able to give Alex the holiday off!! It makes sense that everyone else wants that day off too. 😛 Yeah it says they aren’t doing the night market in July!! That’s so fun that they do it every month. I wish we had something like that and that often here.

                  1. She lives in Utah, an hour south of Salt Lake City. Maybe because there’s already a holiday in July? Who knows.
And yeah, they’re very fun. And yeah it’s too bad that they don’t have things like this everywhere, but then again, I feel like these kinds of events are what makes a city unique in their own way. 🙂
