Shows I’ve Recently Watched

The End of the F***ing World

1 Season, 8 Epsiodes

Watch it on: Netflix

Originally aired on: Channel 4 in the UK

My Mini Review: This show revolves around two High School “outcasts.” The boy, James, truly feels like he’s a psychopath. People always said that children who enjoy killing animals are psychopaths, didn’t they? Then, he meets Alyssa. She’s the bad girl, with the rough home life. James finds her to be the perfect target for murder. In the first few episodes, James sticks to his original plan: to murder Alyssa. He goes along with all of her shenanigans because he wants to get closer to her so that his plan could be easier executed. Throughout the 8 episodes, everything turns completely upside down. Alyssa and James are literally turn into teenage versions of Bonnie & Clyde. Not only their worlds but, their feelings change and it’s great to watch how it all happens.

This show was easy to watch in just one sitting and the ending is heart-wrenching. There is not going to be a second season.

1 Season, 8 Episodes

Watch it on: Netflix

Originally aired on: Netflix

My Mini Review: Sam is in High School and he has Autism. There are many obstacles he has to overcome, trying to fit in, trying to be normal. He goes to therapy sessions and his therapist gives him suggestions that his parents aren’t yet comfortable with but, he’s ready to try. His therapist is a very important person in his life and I like that they show his sessions with her. Sometimes, he isn’t even aware that there’s an obstacle in his way or that he isn’t being “normal” and other times, he’s very aware. His sister is the protective type. She’s always there for her brother but, she also has her own story line. At first, I didn’t really like her but, by the end of the season she becomes my favorite character. I actually thought I hated all of the actors and actresses at first… but, the show itself was interesting so I kept watching… and then, I started to love and empathize with each and every one of them. It’s one of those shows, where you actually start to miss the characters, when the seasons ends.

There will be a second season of this show. I can’t wait!

1 Season, 10 Episodes

Watch it on: Hulu

Originally aired on: Hulu

My Mini Review: This show is extremely action-packed but, of course it is! It’s based on a Marvel comic book by the same name. Six teenagers in High School who used to all be the best of friends but, grew apart for awhile, decide to band together again. The reason they grow apart in the first place is a huge part of the story. They realize together that all of their parents are up to no good. The teens stick together to try to find out what exactly their parents are up to. A few of the teens discover they have superpowers but, they don’t have any idea how they got them. Throughout the season, they explain how each teenager gained their powers– those were always my favorite episodes. There is a lot of fantasy and make-believe things going on but, there is still room for that teenage angst, uncertainty, and of course, all of the drama.

They were just renewed for a second season in January 2018. No idea when it will air but I cannot wait.

1 Season, 8 Episodes

Watch it on: Hulu

Originally aired on: ITV Encore in the UK

My Mini Review: Out of all the shows I’m going to mini review, this one is my number one favorite. It’s based in London in 1763 so the fashion is marvelous… think Marie Antoinette’s big hair and dresses!!! In this time, prostitution was a very common job for women to have. There are many brothels and every single man in town attends them. They’re obviously not legal so sometimes, there are court scenes– those are always exciting. There is a ton of sex, drama, and so, so many rivalries. One of the Madams and her two daughters are the main characters and almost all plotlines have to do with one of them. They are entirely loyal to each other, though, at times it doesn’t seem like it; the bond between the three women is so strong and beautiful. I love all of the actresses chosen for this show and the characters that they play.

They are set to premiere the second season of this show sometime this year! Yay!

Future Man

1 Season, 13 Episodes

Watch it on: Hulu

Originally aired on: Hulu

My Mini Review: Josh Hutcherson is such a good actor. I love his character (also named Josh but with the last name: Futterman) in this show so much. In the beginning of the series, Josh, is a janitor living in his parent’s home still. His main goal in life is to defeat this video game that no one else has ever beat before. Once he does beat the game; his whole life changes. He has to help save the world now. He has to kill the enemy before the enemy destroys the entire human race! But, what happens when the the enemy is not really an enemy after all?

They have been renewed for a second season but, no say when it will air just yet!

Finding Carter

2 Seasons, 36 Episodes

Watch it on: Hulu

Originally aired on: MTV

My Mini Review: If you’ve watched Skins UK, you’ll recognize Carter (Kathryn Prescott). She fakes such a cute American accent for this show. In the beginning of this show, Carter is found by her real parents. She was abducted at three years old by a woman named, Lori Stevens. At first, she’s not happy about her new family. She feels like they are the ones who abducted her… she misses and continues to long for her abductor. She’s 17 years old, so there is a ton of teenage drama and emotional roller coasters in this show. Every single episode is filled with a twist, a turn, or someone finding out what someone else was hiding from them. I love every single character in this show but, especially Carter and Taylor. Their relationship is only one someone could dream of having with their sister.  It’s a heart-warming show and always touching to watch everyone grow up and grow together. I catch myself wiping my tears too often while binge-watching.

They were cancelled after their second season, sadly. I actually have two more episodes left. I’m torn between wanting to see the ending and not wanting it to end.

Everything Sucks!

1 Season, 10 Episodes

Watch it on: Netflix

Originally aired on: Netflix

My Mini Review: Everything Sucks! is set in 1996, so you’ll feel all of the nostalgia if you were a 90’s baby, like me. Also, as a 90’s baby, you may feel this show is too childish for you but trust me, it’s not. Actually, I have to be honest… it might be… but, it’s so cute, okay? The kids in this show are extremely good at acting. I can feel their every emotion through the screen. I can’t say the same for the adults but, they barely matter anyways. This show is all about growing up and figuring out who you want to be and who you are in this world. It’s about friendship and the heartbreaking kind of teenage love. Just for the fact that it’s based in 1996 and constantly mentions things from my childhood, I couldn’t stop watching. They use the same slang words as I do which really made me laugh.

Netflix hasn’t announced a second season for this show but I’m really hoping there will be one. I’d definitely watch it.

Good Girls

Currently airing on: NBC

1 Season, 6 Episodes (so far)

Watch it on: Hulu

My Mini Review: This would have to be my second favorite show on the list and it’s only had 6 episodes so far. I am eager to watch each new episode as soon as they’re available on Hulu. Based on three mom’s who are very much suburban but, are all dealing with their own versions of tough times. Two of the mom’s are sisters and the third mom is their best friend. They have nothing but loyalty to each other. When one of them gets into trouble, the other two are always there to get them out. They all decide to rob a grocery store and now, all three of them are in trouble. The actresses they chose are just absolutely perfect for their roles. I love them all. While the problems that the mom’s face are quite serious and sometimes even scary, there is always a light, comedic feel. It has made me tear up once… okay, maybe twice… but, mostly, it makes me laugh.

    1. Yay! I can’t wait for it. 😀 I love crime shows, too! I feel like I’ve seen a lot of them but, not very recently. The only one I recently finished was Lie To Me but, it started to get boring towards the last seasons so I don’t know if I would recommend it.
What are your favorite crime series?!

  1. I just watched Atypical and The End of Fuc**ing World just last week too! I love typical better. But both are really good. I think the season2 for TEFW is a topic for debate according to the internet. I am strongly against it but would not complain if eventually it would have a green light.

    1. TEFW was different and crazy. I don’t know which one I feel is better lol. Yeah, I read some articles but, it seemed like more people were saying that the second season wasn’t going to happen & I’d prefer it not to so I just said there won’t be, LOL.

  2. I’ve seen an episode here and there of Finding Carter and it didn’t hold my attention enough to watch the entire season.

The rest of the shows are all ones I’ve wanted to watch but I’m like ehhhh.

    My recommadations:
☆ The Crown: on Netflix. 2 seasons and the 3rd in the production.
Follows the reign of Queen Elizabeth II from the very start and includes historical tidbits from the events they portray. I love all things British and Royal Family so this was great for me.

☆Strange Empire: Netflix. Unfortunately only 1 season. Set in I want to say it was 1800s in the West. It follows a few women, a few also in the prostitution line and how they overthrow the men basically. The first episode dragged but it got better in the 2nd one.

    1. Finding Carter is definitely a show you have to watch from the beginning and pay attention to every single detail from beginning to end. If I watched random episodes of Finding Carter, I prob wouldn’t think I’d like it, either.

Aw! Maybe you would like Harlots on my list since you like the historical shows? They are also in London and talk about royal families.

Strange Empire sounds fascinating but, it’s hard for me to get into a show I can’t enjoy the first episode. I’ll fall asleep and not want to watch it anymore. 😛 Maybe I’d like The Crown. I’ll check it out! Thanks for the recommendations, love!! ❤

  3. I’ve seen Good girls all over and haven’t watched it yet, but I actually haven’t heard of Everything Sucks. That sounds right up my alley.

    1. Good Girls is addicting! I’m loving it! Watch it if you get the chance. 😀 I think you’d like it. I read that Everything Sucks! won’t be getting a second season until 2019 but I’m not sure if it’s true. It’s a super cute show! Enjoy binging! 😉

  4. Happy to see you took some of my advice. 🙂 Now you need to check out Girls Incarcerated and Flint Town- both on Netflix. I just watched both of them and they were really good. I think you’ll like them.

    1. I really did like The End of the Fu**ing World! Thank you again for recommending it to me. 😀 ❤ When my sister was over she watched Girls Incarcerated… it was too sad and serious for me! :/ I'll check out Flint Town though, I've never heard of that one! Thank you for more recommendations! You're the best!! ❤

  5. Oh my god Harlots sounds FUCKING AMAZING – I will have to take a look! And im so glad they aren’t renewing the end of the f***ing world, although I absolutely loved it I definitely think a season 2 would ruin it. Great post!xx

    1. Gosh, yes!! It’s my favorite, such a good show!! Yes, please watch, I’d love to know what you think!! ❤ Yeah, I heard something about Channel 4 is not making another season because they're mad at Netflix lol but it's prob just gossip. I agree that a season 2 would ruin it!

  6. I loved Atypical and started on Everything Sucks (which I’m loving too..sad it got cancelled tho) I’m also watching Mercedes Man; it’s a crime thriller based on a Stephan King book..and People of the Earth (it’s a weird alien comedy)

    1. Oh my gosh, Everything Sucks got cancelled?! That’s so sad to hear. Oohh…. I’ll have to check out Mercedes Man and maybe People on Earth, too. Thanks so much for the suggestions! ❤
