1. Spice Girls
My obsession with Posh Spice was probably unhealthy. I loved her so much, I wanted to be her! In over half of my childhood photos; I have my two fingers up the way Posh used to pose. I re-watched their movie Spice World over and over, danced and sang along to every song each time.
My Favorite Spice Girls Hits: 2 Become 1, Wannabe, Stop, Say You’ll Be There, Too Much, Let Love Lead The Way, Mama
My favorite was always JC. My sister loved Justin. We’d try to learn all of their dance moves in their music videos and if there were solos, my sister would sing Justin’s parts and I would sing JC’s. I was a total *NSYNC fan girl.
My Favorite *NSYNC Hits: Bye Bye Bye, It’s Gonna Be Me, Tearin’ Up My Heart, I Want You Back, Thinking Of You (I Drive Myself Crazy)
3. Backstreet Boys
Contrary to popular belief, I loved both *NSYNC and The Backstreet Boys. Same with *NSYNC, my sister and I chose our favorites. Mine was Nick and hers was Brian. We’d try to catch every morning show they performed on, recorded all of their TRL performances, dance and sang to all of their music videos, bought their albums and listened to them on my CD player. They have a residency here in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood now… I am SO tempted to buy tickets to see them.
My Favorite Backstreet Boys Hits: Incomplete, Quit Playing Games With My Heart, Show Me The Meaning of Being Lonely, Larger Than Life, I Want It That Way
4. Simple Plan
Once I got a little bit older, I switched from the pop boybands to my all-time favorite pop punk boyband: SIMPLE PLAN. I wanted all of their albums. I got the Still Not Getting Any one for a gift and listened to it in my room, loud as fuck, screaming the lyrics. If you’re listening to Simple Plan… you have to scream the lyrics and you will feel emotion. It really helped me get through a lot of stupid stuff as a struggling with everything in the world tweenager. I first heard them on the movie Cheaper By The Dozen, their song “I’m Just A Kid” played at the saddest scene and I remember thinking “that’s exactly how I feel!” and the song “Welcome To My Life” was like… so my life.
My Favorite Simple Plan Hits: Welcome To My Life, Perfect World, Everytime, Untitled, When I’m Gone, Your Love Is A Lie, I’d Do Anything, Perfect, Me Against The World, Addicted
5. Christina Aguilera
Christina was my number one favorite, my role model. I still love her to this day and will not stand to hear anyone talk shit about her. Her voice, her face, everything about her is just absolutely beautiful.
My Favorite Christina Aguilera Hits: Genie In A Bottle, What A Girl Wants, Come On Over, I Turn To You, Reflection, Beautiful, Hurt, Lady Marmalade
6. Jesse McCartney
I loooove/d Jesse McCartney. He was such a heart throb! And he still is, in my eyes. I remember receiving his Beautiful Soul album for Christmas. I couldn’t stop listening to it. I’d bring it in the car and my dad would try to play his radio so loud so he wouldn’t have to listen to me sing along to “JMac.” ;D
My Favorite Jesse McCartney Hits: Beautiful Soul, She’s No You, Because You Live, What’s Your Name?, The Stupid Things, How Do You Sleep, Leavin’, Why Don’t You Kiss Her, Relapse, Just So You Know, Right Where You Want Me, Get Your Shine On, Don’t Go Breakin’ My Heart, Take Your Sweet Time
7. Mandy Moore
Candy by Mandy Moore was my jam!! I loved the music video! I would dance and sing to it every time it came on TRL. I even recorded it on VHS a few times! After that song, every time there was a new song by Mandy Moore on the music video countdown, I loved it, learned it, and recorded it.
My Favorite Mandy Moore Hits: Candy, Walk Me Home, In My Pocket, Crush, Only Hope
8. Britney Spears
While I did absolutely love Britney Spears and all of her songs, my sister had the bigger obsession with her. I always fought with her how I thought Christina Aguilera was better. My opinions never stopped me from singing along to “Oops!…I Did It Again” or “…Baby, One More Time” though.
My Favorite Britney Spears Hits: Everytime, Lucky, Crazy, Sometimes, From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart, Don’t Let Me Be The Last To Know, Toxic, My Prerogative
9. Jonas Brothers
When the Jonas Brothers took over the world, I was a teenager, and yes, I definitely fell into that world. I was in LOVE with Joe Jonas and my sister chose Nick. I would save their photos into a folder on my computer and spend over half my days looking for new ones. My whole MySpace was filled with them… the theme was Jonas Brothers, the song was Jonas Brothers, and their music videos filled up my side bar. The obsession was too real.
My Favorite Jonas Brothers Hits: Year 3000, Hold On, When You Look Me In The Eyes, S.O.S., Burnin’ Up, Lovebug, A Little Bit Longer, What I Go To School For, Time For Me To Fly, 6 Minutes, Mandy, You Just Don’t Know It, Underdog, 7:05, Please Be Mine, Just The Way We Roll, Still In Love With You, Just Friends
10. Avril Lavigne
Avril Lavigne is the original badass!! I went to the Mall Of America and got to sit on my dad’s shoulders and see her signing autographs! I knew all of the lyrics to my favorite songs by her. When her song “Girlfriend” came out, I sent the lyrics to the boy I had my first kiss with– he had a girlfriend when I started talking to him but, I wanted to be his and it worked, hahaha.
My Favorite Avril Lavigne Hits: Complicated, I’m With You, Sk8er Boi, Nobody’s Home, Losing Grip, Fall to Pieces, My Happy Ending, Girlfriend, When You’re Gone, Keep Holding On, I Will Be
