My Top 5: Favorite Healthy Snacks

1. Hummus & Pita Bread

Hummus is known to reduce the risk of cancer and lower cholesterol. It is also rich in protein. Pita bread is packed with nutrients, protein, and minerals, too! Hummus is so delicious. I love it freshly made from this café called The Bronze Café the best, their pita bread is nearly orgasmic there, too… but I also enjoy some store-bought hummus. My favorite brand I can find at my local grocery store is Lantana.

2. Fruit drizzled with honey, topped with dark chocolate chunks

I seriously love any and all fruit except oranges. My favorites that are easily found at a local grocery store are raspberries, bananas, and strawberries. I chop up the banana and the strawberries, throw in a few raspberries whole, drizzle it all with some 100% pure honey (none of that fake teddy bear stuff), and chop up a dark chocolate bar into little bits. Mix it all together… and ta-da it’s the best snack, ever.

Fruit is healthy for you, everyone knows that but so is honey and dark chocolate! There are SO many benefits of eating honey… read 10 Health Benefits of Honey here. I’m certain there are even more than 10 health benefits but that’s what I found for ya. Dark chocolate has a page of 7 Health Benefits here. So I’m not lying, there are articles about this stuff!! A big bowl of naturally sweet fruit, topped with more sweetness of honey, and then some dark chocolate is, YES, healthy for you and in so many ways, too!

3. Luna Protein Bars

My favorite flavor is the S’Mores one. There isn’t any dairy used in it but they are made on equipment that also makes products that do contain dairy. There are a few other flavors that don’t contain dairy that I can eat, too.

I know there is a lot of argument on if protein bars are actually healthy for you or not… but, all I know is that they are better for you than candy bars and they taste just as good. I feel less guilty eating one of these over 4 Twix bars, I promise I feel just as satisfied though.

4. Calbee Shrimp Chips

This might not be the healthiest snack in the world but they’re delicious and they aren’t so bad for you. They are BAKED, they are made out of wheat, and they’re also made out of real shrimp. Like I said, they’re not super healthy but they’re better for you than your original deep-fried or kettle-cooked potato chips.

5. Can of Tuna

My favorite can of tuna is the one pictured above: Wild Selections Solid White Albacore Tuna in Water. I just squeeze a wedge or two of lime or lemon juice over it, sprinkle some Himalayan pink salt, and crack some black pepper over it and then it becomes a tasty, filling, and healthy snack. There are some cans of tuna that aren’t so good for you… especially the ones drenched in oil so do your research. My biggest advice is go for the ones in water. Here’s an article about 13 Health Benefits of Tuna.

What are your favorite healthy snacks?

  1. I’ve only had two flavors(?) of hummus, one that my friend had that I never asked the name of and the other Alex buys for me now because I love it, it was a taco inspired hummus and it’s delicious. I would love to try more though. I believe I’ve had the pita bread once? But Alex also gets us pita chips, though it may not be as healthy lol.
In terms of tuna, I’ve always gotten the one with water but for some reason Alex now buys the ones with oil 🙄 I’ll have to look into that

    1. YUM! A taco inspired hummus sounds amazing. I’d love to try it! Do you know what brand it is that he buys for you?? I like pita chips, too, I’m sure they aren’t that unhealthy for you!! I loooove pita bread though. It’s so soft and wonderful.
The tuna in oil has more flavor, I think, so I understand why he buys it! Or maybe he just doesn’t read the label? Lol.

      1. The brand is called Sabra, I think LOL. I think I once got naan bread (is that what it’s called?) thinking it was pita bread, and it was pretty delicious with it too haha
he’s always after taste, I’m sure that’s the only reason xD

      2. I wonder if they sell it at select locations. But anyway, it’s a pico de Gallo one. If you ever try it let me know if you like it. I absolutely love it. I eat it with jalapeño pita chips and it makes me feel so Hispanic for some reason, lol.
