First of all, Sharon (the owner of Ginger & Waldo) has such amazing customer service. I missed the coupon on her shop’s page that gives you a discount and she immediately messaged me, thanked me for my purchases, refunded me $3 (what I would have gotten taken off with the discount– had I not missed it), and sent me a coupon for 20% off my next purchase!
The package that it came in was super sturdy. The envelope was thick and the products were heavily wrapped in nice brown tissue paper. She even has cute little customized stickers for her shop that says “ginger & waldo / green bay, wi” — Green Bay, Wisconsin is where Sharon lives and hand makes the products for her shop.
Every single one of her products is made for people with sensitive skin like mine and is made out of natural ingredients and is cruelty-free.
I bought two products from Ginger & Waldo:

My Review: This perfectly mocks the smell of chai tea! I love it so much, I couldn’t help but lick my lips… it tasted like nothing which I was both happy and sad about. The lip balm itself is very soft. A little goes a long way! I usually push my lip balm tube onto my lips quite aggressively. You just need to use the lightest hand (with just a tiny sliver of the product pushed out) and it will leave a nice layer of clear, moisturizing gloss on your lips immediately. I can feel it working on my lips after I apply it but, I do need to re-apply more than once a day to stay moisturized. I have replaced my go-to lip balm with this.

My Review: I was surprised at the color of this. I wasn’t expecting a dull gray but, that didn’t take away from the product at all. You can smell the citrusy scent of grapefruit as if you just cracked one open in front of you every time you open the cap to this deodorant. I love the tube that it’s in, especially that there was a twist-on cap instead of a pop-on cap. I’m not sure what bergamot is but there is definitely a tiny hint of a non-grapefruit note in there, I like it. It smells very delightful! The texture is a bit gritty but it melts onto your skin. Like the lip balm I reviewed (above), a little goes a long way. Be gentle when you spread this onto your armpits and make sure there is only a very slight sliver of the product peeking out. I will definitely buy this product again after I run out! You guys don’t know how long I’ve been searching for a cruelty-free deodorant.
The estimated shipping time for my products was 1-4 days. My products were shipped the next morning after I made my order at night. I received them 2 days after they were shipped. All shipping is FREE within the United States.
The white envelope that the product I purchased from UltimoCosmetics was in was water and tear resistant… even so, I tried my darndest to tear it open until I finally gave up and got the scissors out.
The product was in a cute and dainty see-through blue mesh party bag with gold embellishments. There were two little cards inside the bag along with my product. One of the cards was just their business card and the bigger one had all types of information on how to apply different makeup products.
Ultimo Cosmetics hand-makes all of their mineral makeup. They are based in Iron River, Wisconsin and all of their products are cruelty-free, made with natural ingredients!
I bought one product from Ultimo Cosmetics and received one free gift!:

My Review: Oh wow, this brush is so freaking soft! I had been using the Sigma Buffer – F45 brush for my finishing powder but after I washed it one time; the bristles started to fall out one by one and all over my face. This brush is short and stout and it does its job, I really liked it. I hope that it holds up through a wash. It holds all of the powder in it’s bristles, the product doesn’t fall off all over the place when you bring the brush up to your face.
Retail Price: $10.00 (pictured above is the free sample size included with my order!)
My Review: I put tons and tons of layers of this shimmer to still not get any real results. I barely even got much sparkle. It seemed to all just fall onto my face and onto my lashes. On the shop’s site it does say to apply a cream primer over your lids first so maybe that’s why it didn’t work for me; I just put it over some concealer after it dried.
The product had an estimate shipping time of 1-2 business days. I placed my order at night and the product was shipped by the time I woke up. I received it only 2 days later. All shipping is FREE within the United States.
This shop’s packaging was the most simple. The product sat in a regular, small dark yellow envelope. The product I bought was inside, by itself, besides the receipt. It didn’t come with any cute wrapping… there was no free gift, no thank you note, no postcards… nothin’!
This shop is owned by a woman named Angie L. in Washington D.C. While her shop’s site says she is committed to raising awareness for domestic violence and rape victims and that she will include information about the cause in each package– I found no such thing in mine. I think that’s a great thing to include and raise awareness about… but, why didn’t I get any information about it? All of her products are made with natural ingredients though, I don’t see a “cruelty-free” statement anywhere on her shop’s page… something tells me that her products are.
I bought one product from Broomstick Apothecary:
Retail Price: $9.00 (10 mL) $16.00 (20 mL)
My Review: I’ve only used two other finishing powders. One was a rice powder from Sally’s, I can’t remember the brand name of it; it was alright. My one true love though is, Tarte’s Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder but, as all Tarte products go, it’s very expensive. I will be trying some of the the other natural finishing powders on Etsy but, I will use all of this one first. It’s not amazing… it has a perfume scent that I’m not too fond of and it kind of brushes away my makeup instead of sits on top of it. I do like the matte-finish look of my face after brushing this powder over it… I just think the powder is a bit too packed together. I prefer a dryer and looser powder. This is like confectioner’s sugar.
The estimated shipping time for this product was 3-5 business days. This was shipped only 1 day after I put in the order. I received it 1 day after it was shipped. All shipping is FREE within the United States and low cost to everywhere else.
Check out Broomstick Apothecary on Etsy by clicking here! She also sells: pet care, dental care, health care, home care, feminine care, and hair care products along with other makeup products for your face and lips.
I thought it was so cute how she personalized the outside of the package with little stamps!
This shop is owned by a woman named Faith Michelle in Annapolis, Maryland. A couple days after I placed my ordered she sent me a private message thanking me for purchasing from her shop and that she was going to start making my product. She makes everything she sells in her shop to-order!! Meaning, when you order something, she makes it right then and there. She doesn’t just have an endless supply sitting in the back of her closet. She’s only had 12 sales so far and I was her first!! All of her products are vegan and organic.
She included the sweetest handwritten note; thanking me (yet again) for my purchase and explaining how to use the TWO free gifts she included! She wrapped up the products in a good amount of bubble wrap and tied it up with a cute piece of rope/ribbon.
I bought one product from Butter Pi Balm Shop and received 2 free gifts!:
I ordered the full-size mascara and was given the travel-size mascara and the eye makeup remover stick as surprise gifts.
My Review: This mascara is fragrance-free which I liked. It doesn’t even have that weird mascara scent. It doesn’t do its job, though… as you can probably tell in the photo of my lashes (above). It went on my lashes without causing any clumps but it just barely made my lashes darker. There was no length or volume added. I don’t think she sells this product in her shop because I can’t find it right now… I guess she realized it’s not very good.
Retail Price: $4.99
My Review: I’m glad I got this for free because I would never spend money on it. I feel bad saying this because she’s only just starting up her shop but maybe she should take this off her market, too! It does have an amazing coffee bean scent when you take a whiff of it out of the tube. Her handwritten directions told me to wash my makeup off normally with my normal face wash then to use this product to wipe away the leftover eye makeup… I don’t know about you but the face wash I use doesn’t leave any type of leftover makeup on my face (or I’d be finding a new face wash). Anyways, I did as I was told and washed my face like any normal day with First Aid Beauty’s Facial Cleanser, dried my face, then applied this like I would chapstick to my lips but instead, to my eyelids and under eyes. I’m not sure if I was supposed to wipe it away or let it sit but it was super greasy and also a bit gritty… then, it started to smell strongly of coconuts which I don’t quite like so I tried to wipe it all away with water. I had a mini panic attack because it wouldn’t wash off my face, it felt like the water was just sliding off and the smell lingered way too long afterwards, too. I very much did not like this product and see no use in it whatsoever. For the record, after I wiped it away with water… I didn’t see any leftover makeup on my towel so it didn’t even do what it was supposed to, either.
Vegan All-Natural Mascara

My Review: She has removed this product from her shop. She is selling no mascaras at the moment. I hope she is improving her formula because this one also did nothing for me. I hated this one even more than the travel-size one though and this is the one I actually paid money for. It had a very strong soapy scent and the mascara itself was gritty. It seemed like black soap scrub. A lot of prodcut comes out with the brush so you have to be careful and try to push it back into the bottle. It darkened my lashes just a little bit but it took a lot of product to do so.
They only look a bit longer in the photo (above) because I curled them with an eyelash curler. The one good thing I can say about Butter Pi Balm Shop’s mascaras were that they do not smudge or run after wearing them for a long time. The mascara stays on your eyelashes and it’s light enough to go to sleep with without washing it off first (if that’s what you’re into); it won’t break your lashes.
I received free shipping for my order but now, I’m looking at her site as I’m typing this and she has changed her shipping policy to free shipping with eligible orders only. To be eligible she requires you to spend $30 or more. It took a little over one week to receive my order though she changed the status to shipped within 2 days of me sending in my order and unlike all of the other orders (above) the status never changed to in transit or delivered. It just came without any notice.
