My Favorite Quotes From… Two Books!

These books are definitely not at all similar; they are just the last two books I’ve finished reading. I didn’t highlight many favorite quotes at all in either of them so I thought I’d just put them both into this one post.

Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris

(via GoodReads)

Originally Published: February 11, 2016

Synopsis: “Everyone knows a couple like Jack and Grace: he has looks and wealth, she has charm and elegance. You’d like to get to know Grace better. But it’s difficult, because you realize Jack and Grace are never apart. Some might call this true love.

Picture this: a dinner party at their perfect home, the conversation and wine flowing. They appear to be in their element while entertaining. And Grace’s friends are eager to reciprocate with lunch the following week. Grace wants to go, but knows she never will. Her friends call—so why doesn’t Grace ever answer the phone? And how can she cook such elaborate meals but remain so slim?

And why are there bars on one of the bedroom windows?

The perfect marriage? Or the perfect lie?” (via GoodReads)

Genre: Thriller, Fiction, Mystery, Suspense

My Rating: 3/5 stars

My Favorites Quotes…

“It’s not that she doesn’t appreciate perfection, as I first thought, it’s more that she’s suspicious of it.”

“I weigh the pros and cons but in the end the lure of chocolate fudge cake is too strong.”

Bridget Jones’s Diary by Helen Fielding

Caught between the joys of Singleton fun, and the fear of dying alone and being found three weeks later half eaten by an Alsatian; tortured by Smug Married friends asking, “How’s your love life?” with lascivious, yet patronizing leers, Bridget resolves to: reduce the circumference of each thigh by 1.5 inches, visit the gym three times a week not just to buy a sandwich, form a functional relationship with a responsible adult and learn to program the VCR. With a blend of flighty charm, existential gloom, and endearing self-deprecation, Bridget Jones’s Diary has touched a raw nerve with millions of readers the world round. Read it and laugh—before you cry, ‘Bridget Jones is me!'” (via GoodReads)

My Rating: 3/5 stars

My Favorite Quotes…

“‘When someone loves you it’s like having a blanket all round your heart.’

“Our culture is too obsessed with outward appearance, age and status. Love is what matters.

“But if you are single the last thing you want is your best friend forming a functional relationship with somebody else.”

“There’s nothing worse than people telling you you look tired. They might as well have done with it and say you look like five kinds of shit.”

“‘I’m busy on Sunday, anyway,’ I lied. At last–a chance to get into those awkward corners with the duster.”
