I was gonna get this post up last night but we got home quite late (technically not until this morning) and were too ready to lay in bed and relax. If I had a laptop to sit in bed with; I probably would have done this post but I only have a desktop and didn’t feel like sitting upright, hahaha.
Monday night was the last time I wrote so I’ll start from there…
I went to work and stayed until a little past 3a. It was pretty busy but the customer who bought me fishnets that one time came to see me. Ugh… I had to spend the entire night with him but he at least made it worth my while ($$$) and he wasn’t being a complete prick, thankfully. I could tell he tried to ruffle my feathers a few times but I didn’t let him get to me.
Boyfriend worked in the evening on Tuesday… he started at 3p but it was so super slow that he was sent home early… like around 5p. He’s never been sent home that early before but oh well… I was glad to have him home. 🙂 I was planning on going to work that night but after our dinner at Panda Express; my stomach was telling me to stay home.
Every time I eat there I get extremely bloated and also a mini headache… maybe from the high amount of sodium and MSG… I knew it was a bad idea when we decided on it but it’s near to us and cheap so we couldn’t resist.
I ordered the Mushroom Chicken and Orange Chicken with Chow Mein. Boyfriend ordered the Beijing Beef, Kung Pao Chicken, and Orange Chicken with Chow Mein. We each also got a Chicken Eggroll that I didn’t enjoy that much. People always tell me I’m not a “real Asian” because I think Panda Express is actually pretty good but whatever, I like it, okay?!
We got coffee from Starbucks right afterwards because I still believed myself when I said I was going to go to work that night. When I got home… I drank my coffee, started reading blogs… aaaand never got up to get ready for work… oops, lol.
We had seen a Groupon for a cheap couple’s massage so we called the place, Spring Spa, for a Valentine’s Day appointment. They told us that we didn’t need to buy the Groupon and we could just pay in cash at the spa… awesome. We set it up for 3p on Valentine’s Day.
On Valentine’s Day, I woke up early, at around 10a, filled with excitement for the day but knowing it was too early to start it. I just relaxed and read some blogs (which I am SO close to caught up on) while boyfriend slept in a little longer. He awoke around noonish and we laid around together until it was time to go for our massages. We left around 2p and got there a bit early but they were able to start on us right away.
It’s in a little dingy shop in Chinatown. I will start by honestly saying… I do not recommend a massage here. It was my first ever experience of getting a professional massage but I hated it all.
We started off with our couple’s full-body massage in a private room, side-by-side. I felt like my masseuse was very rough and she kept acting like she was in a rush. We thought we were going to get a full-hour massage but the package included a “free” foot soak and reflexology so the whole thing (with every procedure combined) was an hour… not the massage itself. The massage on our full-body was maybe 20m or so… it wasn’t even good. I didn’t feel refreshed or loose at all. In fact, I felt even more tense as they rushed me to get dressed and go out to the public area for the reflexology and foot soak.
Again, I thought they were quite rough with the leg and foot massage. We barely got to soak our feet before they started on the massage… it was maybe less than 3m that we were allowed to relax with our feet soaking like this:
After our massages… it was only almost 4p. We stopped at the dispensary and then headed home. Our dinner reservations weren’t until 7:15p and we were going to the movies even later than that. I took a shower and so did boyfriend. We smoked and did the Valentine’s Day “things” together… 😉 but it was STILL not time for our dinner.
We took a few snapshots of each other before we headed out the door. 😉 I wore this same dress on our first Valentine’s Day together, haha. What can I say? I still love it. I bought it from Forever 21 many years ago.
We decided to go to Starbucks for some espresso shots because I didn’t want to fall asleep during the movie… even though (*spoiler alert*) I enjoyed the movie so much I don’t think I would have fallen asleep during it even if I hadn’t slept at all the night before.
We sat inside Starbucks and ate the yummy espresso beans and drank our drinks. I read Behind Closed Doors on my Kindle app while boyfriend played games on his phone. It finally hit an appropriate time (kind of) for us to show up for our reservations. We got there at around 6:40p and told them about our reservations. At first, they told us to wait because they didn’t have any tables available yet so we just sat in the waiting area.
They told us there was a table ready for us before 7:00p hit!! I was so excited! If you’re curious as to which restaurant we chose…
We went to The Broiler Steak & Seafood at the Boulder Station Casino!!! It was probably the best decision we ever made. I’m so glad we were able to spot their Valentine’s Day Special on a board when we went to this casino for drinks a week before the holiday! They didn’t have it advertised online and was one of the only restaurants with a 7p slot open for reservations on OpenTable.
When we got there… they didn’t give us the V-Day Special Menu so we had to ask for it. We were for sure getting that deal!
The restaurant was beautiful. I’m sure I didn’t use the right fork for anything. The meal came with a free unlimited soup and salad bar that was HUGE.
I couldn’t finish my huge salad plate that I made but I would have if the appetizers didn’t come out so quickly!!
The first appetizer was a cold platter with shrimp, crab, lobster, oyster and a cocktail sauce with a spicy horseradish! Everything was perfect on that plate. The other appetizer was this toasted baguette with spicy mustard, small fruits, meat, and cheese. Yes, I did eat the cheese for the occasion–the brie melted in my mouth and I screamed with delight, it was that good. I don’t like spicy mustard so I didn’t try that but boyfriend liked it.
They also gave us free bread and butter. There were two types of bread. I liked the pretzel bread but the white bread tasted like my liquid foundation (makeup) even though it was so fluffy; I cried that the flavor was incredibly off.
After our appetizers, there was a small wait for our main entrée!! A 12 oz. Filet Mignon and a 12 oz. Lobster Tail with an Oyster Mushroom sauce. ❤
E v e r y t h i n g was cooked to complete and utter perfection. My only complaint was the weird rice underneath the beef… it was mooshy and had no flavor? I just didn’t eat it… I was completely full on all of the other stuff anyways. Yum yum yummy!!!!
Then, we got our dessert! My personal favorite course of every meal… we even got one of my all-time favorite desserts. A chocolate soufflé with powdered sugar topping. I was an extremely happy girl!!!
The cake also came with a strawberry sorbet but they didn’t even give it to us at first. When I asked for it, our waiter went to grab it right away but it turned out to be an ice cream not a sorbet but whatever, I still ate it and loved it.
Boyfriend also ordered an Old-Fashioned off their drinks menu. I didn’t feel like having alcohol that night so I didn’t have anything besides water. When we walked out of the restaurant there were a TON of people waiting for a table; we were so lucky to have had made reservations and to have gotten there early. ;D
After our meal, we went home to smoke a blunt. I changed into comfy PJ pants and a warm, soft sweater. It was close to the time for us to get to the theatres when we finished up so we headed to The Palms Casino.
After parking our car in the garage, we took the elevator up (or down? I can’t remember) to the casino floor.
The theatres were called Brenden Theatres; I had never been to any of theirs before. It was right on the casino floor and I was thinking it might be up a flight of escalators or something but it wasn’t. Kinda weird and a little messy.
Our movie started at 10:30p and it was around 9:30p after we bought our tickets and goodies from the concession stand. If you read one of my earlier journal entries… you already know that we decided on watching The Greatest Showman!!
We had to wait for a bit on the benches in the hallway… but that’s okay. We snacked on our popcorn and sipped on our Orange Crush soda. I read a little bit more of Behind Closed Doors on my phone. We saw the other people come out of the room we were supposed to be in so we went in and got our spots (you get to choose your spots when you buy your tickets here). It hadn’t been cleaned yet so I kept telling boyfriend they would kick us out to clean but he said they probably wouldn’t since it was the last showing of the night and they would do it after ours instead.
I went to the bathroom and to get a refill on the soda (which I actually wasn’t able to get because I didn’t bring the cash I didn’t know I needed), when I came back boyfriend was in the hallway… LOL. I told him so. We went back in after not too long and were the only couple in the whole room until one other couple came in during the trailers. It was just us and them throughout the whole film. It was so nice. 😀
I enjoyed The Greatest Showman and boyfriend even said it was “alright”. I do have a couple complaints about the film though.
Mini Review of The Greatest Showman:
I felt everything was too rushed… it should have been longer and story lines should’ve had more focus and time spent on them. I also think there needed to be more Zac Efron and more Zendaya–especially in musical numbers… but in general, too!!! I would have written this movie so much differently… *sigh* if only I was a movie writer, lol. I still liked it, though. It was fun and light-hearted with a tinge of emotion in it. The songs were catchy, I enjoyed every single one of them, the singing was good but not magnificent (except Zac and Zendaya… only they were magnificent). I loved all of the choreography, the actors and actresses chosen for each part (except maybe Mr. Barnum… he bothered me a little), and the array of characters.
We got home and it was already past midnight. We got ready for bed and I read until I fell asleep which was quite soon after the last hit of the blunt.
We woke up today around 1p and I felt it in my soul and body that I wasn’t getting my ass to work tonight but I did need to go grocery shopping so I went to Pinterest for some recipes, made a list and then, we headed to our favorite Smith’s.
When we got home and brought in all of the groceries, I went to get the mail. I had one package from an Etsy shop that I ordered (I’m still waiting on one thing from that website then I’m going to do a little post about the items and shops) and this little card that I made for free on the Felt app for boyfriend… it came a day late but hey, it was free. I have the T-Mobile Tuesdays app on my phone so that’s how I got the free gift. It was really cool though because it lets you write on the card and envelope with your own handwriting.
It also let me put in paper hearts that fell out when he opened the card and they really did fall all over the place when he opened it, hahah.
You can choose one photo of your choice for the front:
And on the back you’re able to write on it with your own finger… whatever message you’d like to send to your sweetie:
The card is nice and heavy-duty, too. I would definitely pay the small price for one of these in the future for other occasions.
I started this blog post after getting home from grocery shopping. We smoked a blunt during the beginning of it and now boyfriend’s making dinner. I’m quite hungry… I can’t wait for it to be ready.
I’ve got an overload of mainly beauty posts waiting to be written and shared with you guys! I’ve received 2 out of 3 of my February subscription boxes in the mail. The 3rd one has just been shipped out to me (according to the e-mail I received from them). Also, like I already mentioned up top; I am waiting on one more package from the Etsy website then, I plan on writing a little review post on the shops I chose and products I bought.
You see, boyfriend and I don’t really buy each other gifts… we rather splurge on food and activities (as we did yesterday). It was cool that I ended up buying all of this stuff and getting a lot of it in the mail exactly on the holiday… it was a sweet semi-surprise from myself, hehe.
I really hope you enjoyed your Valentine’s Day, no matter how you spent it. ❤
